Senator Kamala Harris Wore a Bedazzled Rainbow Jacket to Pride and It Was a *Moment*

Over the weekend cities around the world celebrated World Pride. Plenty of celebrities and politicians showed their support, attending parades and parties across the country. Bay Area native Senator Kamala Harris was in San Francisco—along with California governor Gavin Newsom and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi—for the occasion. And her outfit, an oversize denim jacket bedazzled with rainbow rhinestones, has gotten people talking.

Justin Sullivan

The presidential hopeful spoke at SF Pride and rode along the parade route with husband Doug Emhoff, as well as Proposition 8 plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Tier, according to SF Gate. (Harris married Perry and Tier in 2013, when she was attorney general.)

Senator Harris wore a sparkling denim jacket over a black T-shirt—with matching bedazzled text—and white jeans.

Kate Waters, traveling press secretary for the Senator’s presidential campaign, tweeted that it was from Levi’s—fitting, as the company is based in San Francisco.

Reporters on the scene shared their own snapshots of Senator Harris and her jacket from a breakfast held ahead of the parade.

Meena Harris, the Congresswoman’s sister, posted a video of the jacket, complete with a sparkling effect.

Naturally, the statement piece got people talking on social media.

On her campaign website, Senator Harris does have a special Pride collection—though the bedazzled jacket isn’t a part of it. Similarly, Levi’s released a special capsule for Pride Month, with all proceeds going to OutRight Action International, but the Congresswoman’s exact Pride outfit is nowhere to be found. You can, however, buy a special-edition version of the brand’s signature Trucker Jacket with a rainbow collar for $120.98, which will benefit charity. (Glamour has reached out to Levi’s for more information on Senator Harris’s jacket and will update this story when we hear back.)

Meanwhile in New York, another public figure was photographed wearing a glittery Pride-inspired look.

Watch the Moment When the Kardashians Found Out About Tristan Thompson and Jordyn Woods

Ever since news broke that Khloé Kardashian‘s boyfriend (and father of her daughter, True), Tristan Thompson, had allegedly hooked up with her sister Kylie Jenner‘s best friend Jordyn Woods, fans have been waiting to see the drama unfold on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Now, the moment has finally arrived. In a new clip from Sunday’s upcoming finale, we get to see the moment Kim Kardashian learns about the scandal and quickly loops in Kourtney, Khloé, and Kylie on an epic conference call. Kim is waiting to film some of her confessional interviews, just as she was the first time a cheating story about Thompson broke: “My friend Larsa [Pippen] called me to explain that a reporter that she knows was about to write a story that Jordyn and Tristan were at his home last night, or until 7 in the morning,” she says. “They said they were, like, making out and I immediately didn’t believe it. You know, I was, like, this can’t be true.”

We then see her on a call with Khloé and Kourt, where Khloé says she has talked to Jordyn. “It’s really weird,” she says. “She’s not giving me all the information. She was like, ‘He was trying to kiss me…’ and was like, ‘I can’t remember if we did or didn’t.'” This is when Kylie gets looped in and learns the allegation about Jordyn sitting on Tristan’s lap.

Watch the clip for youself below:

It’s all pretty dramatic—and this seems like just the tip of the iceberg. As anyone who’s been following the story knows, Thompson and Khloé broke up. Woods eventually moved out of Kylie’s house in the aftermath, and later appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk to tell her side of the story. (There have been rumors that Woods and Kylie are hanging out again.)

Keeping Up With the Kardashians airs Sunday nights on E!.

Big Little Lies Fans Are Losing It Over This Renata Moment From the Season 2 Premiere

The return of HBO’s Big Little Lies is a gift to us all for many reasons: the drama, the music, the incredibly savage levels of shade, the real estate porn, and, yes, the memes.

Sunday night’s season two premiere offered up a spoil of riches for the Internet to latch onto, like Shailene Woodley dancing to Sufjan Stevens on the beach or every time Meryl Streep straight-up insulted Reese Witherspoon. But this week’s biggest meme moment goes to Laura Dern’s Renata and her incredible power woman photo shoot. Renata, of course, is a hardcore businesswoman, wife, and mother to Amabella—she of the bullying situation that kicked off the first season.

Everything about Renata’s photoshoot is glorious. As Renata sings along to Diana Ross’s “It’s My House,” she is fully embracing the badass within and lamenting about lesser shoots. “I’m so tired of those shots of women,” she says. “I mean, they’re in power right? They own banks, and they’re all, like, demure. Bullshit.”

Twitter took the moment and ran with it. “My queen bitch hath risen! #BigLittleLies,” one user wrote. “PSA: Laura Dern is a national treasure. #BigLittleLies,” another said.

“Me: Eh, I don’t know if #BigLittleLies needed another season that goes beyond the book,” someone tweeted. “Also me: This is the best show on television and I’d watch 200 episodes.”

“Renata is fierce and complicated and a nightmare, and also just wants a girlfriend and deserves to be seen because she’s lived in a man’s world her whole life,” Dern told The Guardian about Renata. “And what it takes for a woman in tech, a woman in banking, a woman in publishing—who you have to be and what you have to walk through to get the one seat in that boardroom of 13…”

It seems like she channeled all of that into the photoshoot scene, and we seriously cannot wait to see what she serves up next week.

Some Guys Seriously Think Arya Doesn’t ‘Deserve’ Her Big *Game of Thrones* Moment

Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead.

Last night’s Game of Thrones was intense, to put it lightly. After seasons of buildup, we finally got to see the Battle of Winterfell, which ended in a surprising-but-satisfying way: Arya killed the Night King by stabbing him with a dagger made of Valyrian steel. This turn of events set Twitter ablaze, with everyone cheering—both physically and metaphorically—for Maisie Williams’ beloved character.

Well, not everyone. For whatever reason, some guys out there think Arya didn’t “deserve” this victorious moment. In fact, they’re calling her a “Mary Sue,” which is a literary term used to describe an idealized female character who’s seen a “perfect” and has success handed to them. The derision for Arya has gotten so out of control that “Mary Sue” is now trending on Twitter.

But of course droves of people are jumping to her defense. “People calling Arya a Mary Sue may have missed the part where she trained for six seasons to be an assassin,” one person tweeted. “She’s been training as an assassin for 8 FREAKING SEASONS, and this was the payoff,” posted someone else.

“Wait wait wait. Some folks are calling Arya a ‘Mary Sue’ when she spent the entire series—seven whole seasons—training to be a master assassin? It takes 3-4 years to become a deployable Navy SEAL, but Arya is a Mary Sue?” wrote another person.

A popular female-centric comic site that’s literally called The Mary Sue even hopped in Arya’s corner. “Glad to see that we are trending on Twitter,” the site tweeted in a statement. “We here at The Mary Sue are so happy you’re reading us and that this has nothing to do with men diminishing the importance of a female character who trained for something through over 7 seasons of a television show.”

Check out some more responses, below:

We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves. Arya Stark didn’t defeat the Night King because she got lucky—she did it because she’s the best assassin on Game of Thrones. And there are eight seasons of receipts to prove it.

What the 'Avengers: Endgame' Girl Power Moment Means for Marvel

I generally feel about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) the way I feel about gender reveal parties: I get why people are into it, I’ll go if I’m invited, and I always root for a girl. So after I saw on Twitter there’s a “women got this” moment in the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame, I decided I’d do my cultural duty and see this much-hyped project for myself.

Twenty dollars and three hours later, I can attest that, yes, the female superheroes do kick butt. Moreover, Endgame reveals a franchise—and perhaps an audience—caught between nostalgia for the status quo that built it and the interesting, diverse possibilities ahead. But before we get into that, be warned: Major spoilers for Endgame ahead.

Endgame picks up where Infinity War left off: Half of the universe’s population has turned to dust, though the original six conveniently survived (Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and Captain America). War Machine, Nebula, and Rocket Raccoon are also around to help, along with new recruit Captain Marvel, who saved Iron Man’s life on her way to Earth because Carol Danvers is good like that. Right away, Captain Marvel is confident that, with her help, they can all do their avenging and finally kill Thanos—and they do. The only problem: He destroyed the Infinity Stones, which means they can’t reverse his actions from Infinity War.

For five years, everyone mourns their lost loved ones. Captain America leads a support group that features the movie’s one and only openly gay character. Captain Marvel peaces out to fight crime on other planets, even though Nick Fury used his dying breath to summon her to earth. But don’t worry, because here comes…Ant-Man! Yes, they let the most powerful woman in the galaxy skip town, but good ol’ Ant-Man is crucial to the first half of the movie.

That’s not to say the first half of the movie isn’t really fun, by the way. The Avengers go back in time to collect the Infinity Stones, allowing Thor to see his mom, Iron Man to see his dad, and Captain America to fight himself. There’s a lot of sneaking around and even more anti-aging CGI. It all leans hard into the audience’s nostalgia for the earlier movies in the franchise, and that’s what we signed up for, isn’t it?

Hawkeye/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), War Machine/James Rhodey (Don Cheadle), Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios

The only thing is, if you haven’t seen the original Avengers since it came out and have instead been watching Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and the MCU’s other more inclusive efforts, you might have forgotten that it’s a real White Guy-Palooza. Iron Man and Captain America are going ego-to-ego, Hulk is doing his best to rein in his testosterone, and Thor still has his phallic attachment to his hammer. The only girl in the group is Black Widow…except she—spoiler—sacrifices herself so Hawkeye can get the Soul Stone and dies. After that, the only women left to save the world are Nebula and Gamora (who, yes, died in Infinity Wars but has joined with her sister in the past and traveled to the present day). But they interact with the main group pretty much never.

After some twists and turns, though, Hulk is able to un-dust all the people Thanos previously dusted—right as a now-alive Thanos (who time-traveled his way from the past) arrives with his entire army. But good news: The heroes who turned to dust have returned, too. If the first half of Endgame was a long and loving tribute to the original batch of Avengers movies, the second is a rapid-fire reminder of all the characters Marvel introduced in the past five years. On your left is Doctor Strange! On your right is Spider-Man and the Scarlet Witch! Directly in front of you…Wakandans! And arriving via the sky are Valkyrie and Captain Marvel (taking down a whole ship by herself in the process, by the way). Except, wait, those last two never got the dust treatment. They could have been here helping the whole time.

Every Meghan Markle and Prince Harry PDA Moment From 2019

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t shy about showing affection in public. Unlike Kate Middleton and Prince William—who rarely engage in PDA—the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are big fans of hand-holding and rubbing each other’s backs whenever they’re at events. Listen: Smiling and greeting well-wishers is exhausting, people. Having your partner hold hands with you through the madness probably makes it a lot easier.

Of course, the Internet freaks out whenever these two touch each other. There was a full-on meltdown in May 2018 whenever Markle first rubbed Prince Harry’s back after Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebration. Then, pandemonium struck again in October when Markle touched Prince Harry’s back at an event in Sussex. Their first bit of PDA of 2019 happened in Birkenhead where—get this—Harry touched Meghan’s back. I know! Crazy!

On that note, we’re compiling Meghan and Harry’s PDA moments from 2019 in this handy gallery. Take a look at what’s happened so far, and check back for updates.
