Camila Cabello Filmed Her Mom Cutting Her Hair

We’re at that point in self isolation where people are starting to make hasty decisions about their hair. In the case of Camila Cabello, that means asking your mom to cut your overgrown bangs.

When you’re a famous pop star, you then document the entire process for all of your fans, of course—which is exactly what Cabello did on her Instagram Stories. We appreciate that she acknowledged attempting to do this herself would be a very bad idea. “This is what it’s come to. The bangs are too long…can’t go outside,” she said in the video. “I’m going to have to trust this woman with my bangs because I can’t trust myself.” She says she chose poorly in middle school to terrible results: “In seventh grade, I used to cut my own bangs, and they looked like mountains.

“I’ve been seeing a lot of posts warning people not to do this, let’s see how it turns out. Right now, I look like Snape [from Harry Potter],” she said.

Enter her mom, Sinuhe Estrabao, to save the day. Cabello gave hilarious commentary throughout the process as her mom trimmed her wet hair. The initial results were “not great” according to the singer, since her mom didn’t follow her directions to angle her bangs to blend the longer ends with the rest of her hair near her temples. Instead, Cabello said, she just cut straight across her forehead. “She just horizontal-lined that shit,” she said, teasing her mom. “So, we’ll see how I look.”

Also, their lighthearted bickering will likely remind you of many a conversation with your own mom. And the final result? “It actually ended up looking not that bad,” Cabello said.

This Mom Threw Her Son a 21st Birthday Party at ‘Club Quarantine’ Because of the Coronavirus

It seems everything is on hold in the era of the coronavirus: schools, restaurants, stores. You name it. Bars across the nation are also shutting their doors to promote social distancing and try to keep the number of COVID-19 cases from completely overwhelming our health care system. But just because the clubs aren’t open doesn’t mean American kids have stopped turning 21.

One of those Gen-Zers is Jack Torchia, who returned from college to isolate with his family in New Jersey. When his plans to party with his family and friends fell through, his mother, Carolyn, took it upon herself to make sure he had the full club-hopping experience, even if it had to happen in her husband’s “man cave.”

At midnight on March 22, Jack’s 18-year-old sister, Emily, captured the whole thing before putting it on the popular social media app TikTok. It currently has over 4.5 million views.

“Let’s see some ID, please,” father/“security guard” Anthony Torchia requests before allowing his son to enter “Club Quarantine.”

His mother was situated behind the bar to provide drinks. “It’s our policy that we give you a free green tea shot,” she says in the video before pouring one out for her son, the “bouncer,” and herself.

Emily, who returned home from Penn State due to the coronavirus pandemic, told Glamour that this type of gesture is par for the course with her family. “My mom comes from a very big and passionate family, so we do stuff like this all the time, surprisingly,” she said over Instagram. “It took about a day since my garage is already a ‘man cave.’ My parents just moved stuff around and then added decorations!”

With two kids home from college earlier than expected, the Torchia family has been using this time to reconnect. “My family has always been very close, but this situation definitely made us closer, which I didn’t think was possible,” Emily said.

“My dad is the most excited, which is the funny part,” she adds about her parents’ reactions to their new TikTok fame. “My mom was very touched by the positive comments people wrote about them as parents, as well.”

It looks like these DIY birthday parties are becoming somewhat of a trend on TikTok and Twitter while the nation hunkers down to protect themselves and others from contracting COVID-19. CNN’s Saba Hamedy shared a few more of these makeshift celebrations on her Twitter:

Honestly, all these parents are killing it right now.

This Video of a Mom Trying to Buy Diapers During the Coronavirus Pandemic Is Heartbreaking

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic goes on, individual stories about how the changes in American life—from school and business closings to lost wages and social distancing—are affecting families are starting to surface.

Experts and government officials at the local, state, and federal levels have continued to warn Americans about hoarding food and supplies, but many store shelves are empty as people try to plan for being stuck at home. However, when you over-buy and stock your home with things you don’t need quite yet—others may go without. And that’s exactly what happened to Lauren Whitney, a mom whose TikTok video about trying to buy diapers for her child went viral.

After trying a few stores, Whitney recorded a video of herself in tears at Walmart when she couldn’t find the diapers she needed. “To all you crazy people buying out all the diapers, how am I supposed to diaper my child if I can’t afford 20 at a time like you can?” she said. It’s truly heartbreaking and a snapshot of what a lot people across the country may be feeling during an incredibly uncertain time on so many levels.

“In the moment when I was filming the clip, I was feeling stress, frustration, and fear for my family,” Whitney tells Glamour. “It had been a bad week for me and seeing the shelves bare was the straw that broke me.”

Many on social media were quick to offer words of support.

In a follow-up video, Whitney said she was thankful to everyone who offered to help. “We’re okay,” she said. “We’re not the richest of people, of course, but we’re not destitute.”

No, Peter Weber's Mom Isn't Responsible For His ‘Bachelor’ Breakup from Madison Prewett

Peter Weber doesn’t blame Barb for the end of his relationship.

Just three days after declaring their love for one another on The Bachelor finale, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett announced their split. In those three days, a lot was said about Weber’s mother, Babara, who clearly didn’t approve of Prewett (that’s an understatement). However, Weber wants it known that his mom had nothing to do with it.

“No. This is stuff between Madi and I, solely, 100 percent,” Weber told TMZ when asked if his split with Prewett was due to his mother. “And people have their opinions, but this is just between the two of us, and it’s just mutual respect and love. That’s all.”

Following the finale, Glamour spoke with Bachelor host Chris Harrison who said Weber and his mother’s relationship was “damaged” by her finale behavior.

“Of course it’s damaged,” he said. “It was damaged last night.”

Harrison added, “The overwhelming feeling I had was just being gutted. I was sad and a little depressed afterward. I love Barb and Peter Sr., and I love Peter Jr. I’ve been to their home. They’re my neighbors! I adore these people. For that to happen on my watch, I felt a little guilty. I felt a little responsible, and I tried to fix it. I felt bad, like I had a hand in this, and that sucks.”

On Friday, March 13, Weber posted an Instagram story video of himself with his mom, assuring fans everywhere that they’re actually doing just fine, thank you very much. In the video, Weber read a headline aloud about their “strained” relationship then asked his mom’s comment. All she said was, “I love you,” before Weber called the entire ordeal “fake news.”

Obviously, this wasn’t the only social media message Weber shared with fans on Friday. In the post announcing his breakup from Prewett, Weber also shared his feelings on all the women he spent time with on The Bachelor.

“I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season,” Weber wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me. Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves wholeheartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward.”

He continued, directly referencing Prewett by adding, “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.“

With Prewett chilling with Selena Gomez post-split, it looks like everyone is doing just fine. Barb included.

Kate Middleton's First Podcast Is a Rare Glimpse Into Her Life as a Mom

Kate Middleton sat down for her first-ever podcast on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby, where she spoke candidly about motherhood, her own childhood, and the importance of early childhood development.

The unprecedented new interview details the Duchess of Cambridge’s life as a mom to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Louis, as well as how her “amazing” grandmother inspired her hands-on parenting style. Middleton also said that there are specific aspects and experiences from her own upbringing that she hopes to pass on to her own children.

“One is quality of relationships,” she shared. “So, those moments that you spend with people that are around you. I remember that from my own childhood.”

The royal continued, “I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us, playing with us, doing arts and crafts and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us, and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now.”

“There are also the environments you spend time in as well: a happy home, a safe environment,” she continued. “As children, we spent a lot of time outside and it’s something I’m really passionate about. I think it’s so great for physical and mental wellbeing and laying [developmental] foundations. It’s such a great environment to spend time in, building those quality relationships without the distractions of ‘I’ve got to cook’ and ‘I’ve got to do this’. And actually, it’s so simple.”

Middleton secretly recorded the podcast, which went live on Saturday, February 15, following a nursery visit in Stockwell, London on January 29.

Last month, she also launched the “Five Big Questions” survey, which was created to generate conversation surrounding the importance and long-term impact of a child’s early development.

“It’s going to take a long time—I’m talking about a generational change—but hopefully this is the first small step: to start a conversation around the importance of Early Childhood development,” Middleton told Fletcher. ” It’s not just about happy, healthy children. This is for lifelong consequences and outcomes.”

The Oscars Rejected This Frida Mom Postpartum Ad for Being ‘Too Graphic'—and People Are Angry

As Hollywood’s A-list prepares to walk down the red carpet at tonight’s Academy Awards, a new Frida Mom postpartum ad is causing some controversy after being rejected by the Oscars for being “too graphic.”

The commercial shows a new mom in the first days after giving birth, facing the realities of what is happening to her body. You can see her postpartum belly, the mesh underwear given to new moms at the hospital, her struggle to go to the bathroom, the pad she must wear as her body continues to bleed—all while a newborn is crying in the background.

Frida Mom, a company focused on the postpartum needs of women, went ahead and posted the ad on its Instagram feed for all to see. “The ad you’re about to watch was rejected by ABC & the Oscars from airing during this year’s award show,” the caption reads. “It’s not ‘violent, political’ or sexual in nature. Our ad is not ‘religious or lewd’ and does not portray ‘guns or ammunition’. ‘Feminine hygiene & hemorrhoid relief’ are also banned subjects. It’s just a new mom, home with her baby and her new body for the first time. Yet it was rejected. And we wonder why new moms feel unprepared. So spray it forward and share this video with every new mom. She deserves to be prepared.”

The ad also has over 800,000 views on the Frida Mom Youtube channel.

Many rallied to the defense of Frida Mom and the ad, including Busy Philipps. “I legit teared up when I just watched it. Partially because this is clearly an ad made by women who have been there and get it and partially because I DO believe so strongly that the more we can NORMALIZE A WOMAN’S BODILY EXPERIENCE IN MEDIA, the better off our culture and society will be. AND YES THAT MEANS ADS TOO,” Philipps wrote on Instagram. “You probably don’t even flinch when an Erectile Disfunction ad comes on but THIS AD IS REJECTED?! I think this is an incredible piece of advertising that accurately represents something millions of women know intimately. And I’m so fucking sick of living in a society where the act of simply BEING A WOMAN is rejected by the gatekeepers of media. Well. Shame on them and NOT on us for simply being human women.”

Many of the commenters on the brand’s post agreed. “Such a beautiful ad. I completely teared up. It brought me right back to having my babies and that our bodies are so badass. Thank you for creating this. It is beautiful. If anything you have impacted me today,” one wrote. “Such an honest representation of the new mom experience! My little one is now 20 weeks and your products were amazing! Thank you for sharing this and trying to help remove the stigma from the postpartum journey,” another said.

(ABC has not yet commented on the backlash.)

While the Frida Mom postpartum ad may not get its moment on Hollywood’s biggest night, it’s still making an impact on normalizing the experience of so many women—and that’s a very good thing.
