No, Peter Weber's Mom Isn't Responsible For His ‘Bachelor’ Breakup from Madison Prewett

Peter Weber doesn’t blame Barb for the end of his relationship.

Just three days after declaring their love for one another on The Bachelor finale, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett announced their split. In those three days, a lot was said about Weber’s mother, Babara, who clearly didn’t approve of Prewett (that’s an understatement). However, Weber wants it known that his mom had nothing to do with it.

“No. This is stuff between Madi and I, solely, 100 percent,” Weber told TMZ when asked if his split with Prewett was due to his mother. “And people have their opinions, but this is just between the two of us, and it’s just mutual respect and love. That’s all.”

Following the finale, Glamour spoke with Bachelor host Chris Harrison who said Weber and his mother’s relationship was “damaged” by her finale behavior.

“Of course it’s damaged,” he said. “It was damaged last night.”

Harrison added, “The overwhelming feeling I had was just being gutted. I was sad and a little depressed afterward. I love Barb and Peter Sr., and I love Peter Jr. I’ve been to their home. They’re my neighbors! I adore these people. For that to happen on my watch, I felt a little guilty. I felt a little responsible, and I tried to fix it. I felt bad, like I had a hand in this, and that sucks.”

On Friday, March 13, Weber posted an Instagram story video of himself with his mom, assuring fans everywhere that they’re actually doing just fine, thank you very much. In the video, Weber read a headline aloud about their “strained” relationship then asked his mom’s comment. All she said was, “I love you,” before Weber called the entire ordeal “fake news.”

Obviously, this wasn’t the only social media message Weber shared with fans on Friday. In the post announcing his breakup from Prewett, Weber also shared his feelings on all the women he spent time with on The Bachelor.

“I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season,” Weber wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me. Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves wholeheartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward.”

He continued, directly referencing Prewett by adding, “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.“

With Prewett chilling with Selena Gomez post-split, it looks like everyone is doing just fine. Barb included.

The Bachelor Season 24, Episode 1 Recap: Hannah Brown Stirs the Pot During Peter Weber's First Week

The Bachelor is officially back, my friends—with 30 women competing for Peter Weber’s heart. You know, Peter? The pilot? He had sex with Hannah Brown four times in a windmill? Did I mention he’s a pilot? This first episode certainly did…many times over. There were plane puns and drama aplenty in tonight’s premiere, so let’s just dive right in, shall we?

My first thought out of the gate with this Bachelor episode is that Peter Weber is way, way hotter now than he was in Hannah Brown’s season. Is it the facial hair? The tan? The montages of him flying planes over sunsets? Who’s to say? All I know is I’m more invested than I thought I’d be. Pilot Pete!

Peter says he fell in love with Hannah, which, duh (please see: windmill sex). But she broke his heart and picked that guitar player who turned out to be a total scammer. Time, family, and a large Instagram following seemed to cure Peter’s woes, though, and now he wants “a girl that you, without a doubt, can call your best friend.” How sweet. How tender. How rom-com. He says he’s in the “captain’s chair” now, which will no-doubt be the first of five million plane puns this season.

It’s night one. Peter has his tux on and says he didn’t know what he did to deserve this. (I’m asking myself the same question! Where’s Tyler C.?! Kidding.)

We first meet Alexa, 27, a caregiver who also waxes vaginas. It’s her side hustle. She says “waxing is a lot like love…you have to bare it all.” OK!

Next up: Hannah Ann. A tongue-twister of a name if there ever was one. She’s a “model” from Knoxville, Tennessee and has amazing hair. That’s all I think right now.

But we need to talk about Tammy, the 24-year-old fighter-slash-realtor from Syracuse. I can already tell she’s better than Peter. Let him fly you and your future husband first class around the world, girl.

We then pan to our first emotional story of the night: Victoria P, a 27-year-old nurse whose mother struggled with addiction. She cries a lot during her intro. We must protect Victoria P. at all costs.

And also Kelley, a 27-year-old attorney. She’s an absolute power boss—Shiv from Succession is shaking. Apparently, though, she already met Peter? At a hotel lobby in California? This will end in flames, I can already tell. It’s never good when you know the Bachelor beforehand. Either Peter will hate her or the other women will.

Meet the Women Vying for Peter Weber's Roses on the New Season of The Bachelor

Bachelor Nation: The time has almost come to start a new cycle of what will hopefully be the “most dramatic season ever” of The Bachelor as we watch former Bachelorette contestant Peter Weber—a.k.a. Pilot Pete—attempt to find true love.

This week, ABC released images and quick bios on the 30 women who will attempting to win Weber’s heart, though who knows what will happen when his former flame Hannah Brown shows back up. There are flight attendants, former pageant winners, and nurses, each looking for love on one of the longest-running reality shows we have.

Any seasoned fan knows that we won’t really get to know these women until we see them in action after they emerge from those limos. But, in the meantime, we combed through their bios to find our favorite fact about each one. Enjoy.

The new season of The Bachelor premieres on ABC on January 6 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Bachelor 2020: Of Course Peter Weber's First Promo Includes a Windmill

Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor airs in January, which seems like a lifetime away. But ABC just dropped a little something to tide us over: This first promo for what’s to come. And, reader, it’s wild.

The CGI-tastic teaser starts with a shot of a plane flying in the sky as a cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” plays. (A fitting image, seeing as how Weber is a pilot and was dubbed “Pilot Pete” on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette.)

We then pan, hilariously, to a windmill, which is a not-so-subtle nod to the sex confession heard ’round the world on Brown’s season. (She told viewers that she and Weber slept together not once, not twice, but four times on their Fantasy Suite date—a date that took place inside a windmill.) Weber then emerges from the animated windmill, rose in hand, with a smolder in his eyes. His face, thank goodness, seems completely healed from the “freak accident” that happened earlier this year while filming in Costa Rica. (He reportedly tripped and fell on top of two cocktail glasses.)

You have to see this teaser to believe it. Watch on, Bachelor Nation, and be transformed.

Weber’s contestants for his season of The Bachelor were revealed earlier this year, and the lack of size diversity was glaring (though, thankfully, there was some racial diversity).

“It’s still hitting me right now, and I feel so grateful right now just to have this opportunity in front of me,” Weber told People shortly after his Bachelor-ship was announced. “I feel emotional right now. This is crazy. This is life-changing. I have truly, my entire life, looked forward to finding my girl, and that first person that I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with…. I have all the faith in the world that this can work for me, and I know it’s going to.”

Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor will premiere in January 2020.
