Justin Timberlake‘s birthday is today (January 31), and to celebrate he and Jessica Biel went out last night in New York City. Things got off to quite the hilarious start, though. In perhaps the most relatable move ever, Biel fell asleep in the car before their date even began.
The “Mirrors” singer filmed the entire situation and posted it to Instagram. “Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me,” he sings to himself quietly before panning to Biel, who couldn’t be bothered with anything besides her REM cycle. Wow. Same. Me.
Timberlake starts singing a little bit louder, and that’s what eventually wakes Biel up. “I’m just preparing for our big night out,” she says, laughing. “I’m just preparing!” Timberlake then chuckles to himself and gives some side eye. But the real shade should go to him for rustling Biel from her shut-eye. She looked so comfy!

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel tied the knot in October 2012 after about five years of dating. They met at a party in Hollywood. “When I met Jess, it was undeniable how beautiful she is,” Timberlake wrote in his book Hindsight: & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me, released last fall. “I made some sort of sarcastic comment, really dry. Nobody got it except her. She laughed, and I noticed, all of a sudden, and in the way where you wonder if a person’s like you, if they have a very dry, dark sense of humor, too.”
Several things are synonymous with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw: New York City, Manolo Blahniks, cosmopolitans. That third one is the center of Stella Artois’ new campaign with Water.org, “Pour It Forward,” aimed at ending the global water crisis.
The message is simple: For every bottle of Stella Artois sold at a bar or restaurant, one person receives a month’s worth of access to clean water in the developing world. Buying a six-pack of Stella, for example, gives someone six months worth of clean water access. A 12-pack, 12 months of clean water. You get the idea.
It’s a great cause, so of course in the new Stella Artois campaign (which will air during the Super Bowl), Carrie changes her usual cosmo order for a Stella. The restaurant descends into madness. The same chaos happens moments later, when The Dude from The Big Lebowski, Jeff Bridges, opts for a Stella in lieu of his regular White Russian.
“Good choice,” Carrie tells The Dude after he takes the seat next to her. He responds, “Changing can do a little good.” Yes, it can.
We chatted with Parker about the campaign and what she loves most about Carrie Bradshaw, and Sex and the City 3, which, as you probably know, came very close to happening.
Glamour: What made you decide this was the right moment to bring back Carrie Bradshaw?
Sarah Jessica Parker: Pretty simple: Stella Artois and Water.org. I thought [about] the campaign, the kind of effort they’ve shown, the impact they’ve had. Water.org’s commitment. The important and urgent work that’s being done. I think the campaign is really clever, and everything they offered—the execution—was just really smart and the message delivered was something I believed in and felt really good about. I felt privileged to be asked to be part of it.
The actual concept of the campaign is so spot-on, because Carrie does have this signature drink. How was the day of the shoot?
It was pretty exciting. We had been away with Christmas break, so I was traveling home from pretty far away and dropping my children off in New York and switching planes and heading to Los Angeles. I landed really late, then had a fitting for a couple of hours to get everything as right as we felt we could. [We wanted] a story that was immediately recognizable in terms of the details. The directing team was so talented. Everybody surrounding the campaign, those on the set—everyone involved was simply good at what they did. It was joyful. The set was fun. It was relaxed. The first day I shot alone, and the second day I got to work with Jeff [Bridges], which was an absolute crazy treat. It was fun. I wanted it to be good. I wanted people who cared about Carrie Bradshaw to feel that I was doing right by her—that this was a message she would deliver. So you try to take care of all that stuff in advance of someone yelling “action.”

Carrie Bradshaw is someone you’ve played in several iterations now: the series, the two movies, and now these spots for Stella Artois. Is it still fun stepping into her shoes? Is it just as fun as it was in 1998?
It is. I think ever more so for this because of the campaign. Because of the message. Because of the global impact. And because you have this unique moment when you have so many people gathered to watch [the Super Bowl]. There’s a lot of eyeballs on this game. It’s such an opportune moment to [guide] people toward their better instincts. Americans have a long history of reaching out, of wanting to be involved, of wanting to participate, and this is such a simple way. It felt exciting and purposeful and, therefore, more fun to play her for this.
Jessica Simpson, if you haven’t heard, is expecting baby number three—and on Saturday, January 19, there was a shower to help welcome the new one into the world. We assumed there’d be plenty of gifts there for the forthcoming newborn, but we didn’t expect Simpson to have one for us: the name of her baby girl.
The baby shower looked like it had a sort of bohemian woodland-fairy vibe, judging by the pics she posted on her Instagram of the event. Fittingly, Simpson wore a long white dress that she paired with a Game of Thrones meets spring goddess cape. The whole look was topped off, naturally, with a flower crown. Florals were everywhere else at the party too, from the wallpaper print and arrangements to the guests, who came wearing dresses in floral prints or embellished with appliqués. And, yes, everyone had their own flower crowns.
But among all the flora and greenery, there was one telling detail that might hint at her daughter’s name: Against the backdrop where Simpson and her guests stood to post for photos, a sign hung down saying “Birdie’s Nest.” It seems like Birdie might just be the name of her forthcoming daughter, no?
It seems that might actually be the case: A source confirmed to Us Weekly that “Birdie” is indeed the name of the baby-to-be. Of course, we won’t know for sure until we hear from Simpson herself. Until then, major congrats to her (and whoever made this party happen, because it’s seriously gorgeous).

Hold onto your Manolos: Sarah Jessica Parker just teased the return of her Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw, in an Instagram video.
On Saturday, January 19, the actress shared a video of herself in character strutting up the streets of New York City in a nod to the iconic SATC intro. The brief clip—which was even set to the SATC theme—features SJP in a very Carrie-meets-vintage-Madonna outfit: a pair of white lace heels, gloves, seafoam tulle skirt, purple beaded clutch.
In the video’s caption, SJP confirmed that her beloved character is back for an important reason. “My old friend. She is making a brief reappearance. Partnering with a great brand and supporting a cause we all care about. More to come. X, SJ,” Parker wrote.

After all the recent drama surrounding the show, we never thought we’d see Carrie again outside of our insomnia-driven/hungover/lazy Saturday/let’s-face-it-whenever SATC binges. Unfortunately, however, this definitely isn’t a promo for a Sex and the City 3 since it’s been confirmed that the movie isn’t going to happen. There were once, after all, rumors of a three-quel for a while now, but those hopes and dreams are no more. In all likelihood, from what her caption indicates, it’s a preview of an upcoming brand partnership—one with a social responsibility angle, maybe?—that will feature SJP in character as Carrie—and well, we’ll definitely be happy with that.
Natalie Portman made a comment about Jessica Simpson in a new interview with USA Today that caught the “With You” singer’s attention. “I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying ‘I’m a virgin’ while wearing a bikini, and I was confused. Like, I don’t know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl,” she said.
The quote is from a larger story about Portman’s new movie Vox Lux, in which she plays a troubled pop star staging a career comeback. She was specifically referring to the “virgin/vixen” paradigm that several female singers embodied in the early-aughts, including Simpson, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera.
Simpson took the narrative back on Twitter, though, writing that she was “disappointed” in Portman’s words. “As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in,” she tweeted. “However, I was taught to be myself and honor the different ways all women express themselves, which is why I believed then – and I believe now – that being sexy in a bikini and being proud of my body are not synonymous with having sex.” (Simpson says the photo Portman is referring to was taken in 1999 when she was still a virgin.)
She continued, ” I have always embraced being a role model to all women to let them know that they can look however they want, wear whatever they want and have sex or not have sex with whomever they want. The power lies within us as individuals. I have made it my practice to not shame other women for their choices. In this era of Time’s Up and all the great work you have done for women, I encourage you to do the same.”
Portman responded to Simpson on Instagram Wednesday afternoon (December 5). “Thank you for your words,” she wrote. “I completely agree with you that a woman should be allowed to dress however she likes and behave however she likes and not be judged. I only meant to say I was confused – as a girl coming of age in the public eye around the same time – by the media’s mixed messages about how girls and women were supposed to behave. I didn’t mean to shame, and I’m sorry for any hurt my words may have caused. I have nothing but respect for your talent and your voice that you use to encourage and empower women all over the globe.”
The moment fans have been waiting (and fearing) for is finally here: Jessica Lange, High Priestess of American Horror Story, is making her return to the series, and we have the first look.
The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, took to Instagram Wednesday morning (September 19) to share a glimpse of “Queen Constance,” reincarnated seven years after she first scared fans to death.
“To celebrate 300k followers, here’s a first look at the return of Queen Constance…the one and only Lady Lange…being directed by that dynamo of wit and talent Sarah Paulson. Love them both!” he captioned a photo of the happy-looking pair standing in what appears to be a backyard—the backyard of the OG Murder House, perhaps? While there isn’t a whole lot of context to pick up on in the shot, it does confirm that Lange’s appearance will coincide with the special episode Paulson is directing, which, according to Marie Claire, will be the sixth in the season.
Lange is an American Horror Story legend, having appeared on the first four seasons of the horror anthology, but taking a step away for the past three. She first appeared as Constance in season one’s Murder House, followed by Sister Jude in season two’s Asylum, Fiona Goode in season three’s Coven, and Elsa Mars in season four’s Freak Show. Her roles in Murder House and Covenearned her two Emmys and a Golden Globe, so seeing Constance revived for season eight is so much more exciting.
The highly anticipated new season, which began airing last week, is expected to bring back characters from both the Coven and Murder House iterations of the anthology.
