'I fell in love with social media during quarantine.'

I live in London, and my mother lives in my hometown of Bray, outside Dublin. I’ve been trying to get her to join FaceTime for years, and this week she finally did. Our first attempt was a conversation with her perfectly groomed eyebrows (thankfully, done just in time for lockdown), but now I see her smiley face every day, just for a check-in before she does the gardening or I binge the next box set.

Since I’ve lived in London, I’ve never even really laid eyes on my neighbors, let alone known their names. But now our neighborhood “Nextdoor” app chat is thriving, and we’re helping one another. I’ve joined every platform out there to stay connected with people: Zoom, Houseparty, TikTok. I am on them all.

I’ve fallen in love with online all over again, and it feels so good. We’ve both grown up. Although my joining TikTok reminds me of when my mother got Instagram. I’m a millennial trying to be part of Gen Z, and I don’t care! It’s silly, it’s fun, and it makes me laugh.

We want you to share YOUR love and relationship stories from COVID-19 with us. Here’s how…

Last weekend I got tipsy on the Houseparty app from the comfort of my kitchen… popping into different “rooms” and spending time with friends I hadn’t spoken to in years and living in all corners of the world. We had a sing-along, we talked about real-life issues, and we played virtual board games. I’ve been physically in contact only with my boyfriend, but I’ve talked to more people than ever. I am more alone than ever, but I don’t feel lonely, as there is a whole community out there that I’m part of. That I want to be part of.

Life works in mysterious ways. The one thing that made me feel disconnected for so long has connected me more than I ever knew it could. I really hope out of this dark time we’ll see a real catalyst for permanent change, to be nicer to each other. I would, still, however like to wake up and see my boyfriend’s face in front of me instead of his phone. And if we can be nicer to each other online, anything can happen.

If you want to share YOUR COVID-19 relationship story with us, write to us or record a voice memo and email it to love@glamour.com. Tell us where you are, what relationship you’re talking about and whether you want to stay anonymous or not.

Kaitlynn Carter on How She Fell 'in Love' With Miley Cyrus

Kaitlynn Carter’s whirlwind relationship with Miley Cyrus was one the biggest entertainment news stories of the summer. The two women got together shortly after Cyrus announced her
separation from Liam Hemsworth. Cyrus is now dating Australian singer Cody Simpson, but not before she and Carter spent a few months in new-relationship bliss.

Now, Kaitlynn Carter is opening up about this experience in an essay for ELLE.com. In it, she reveals how and why she ended up falling in love with Cyrus.

Their romance kicked off during an August vacation in Italy, following Cyrus’s breakup from Hemsworth and Carter’s separation with husband Brody Jenner.

“Until that trip, it had never crossed my mind that I was even capable of loving a woman the way I loved her,” Carter writes in her piece. “But after reflecting on my romantic history, I realized that I’ve never really had a ‘type.'”

She later writes, “I fell just as hard for her as I had the older man so many years before. [Carter was linked to actor David Spade back in 2012.] It was that same familiar force of nature; I didn’t have to think about a thing or overanalyze. It just happened and it felt exactly right. Reflecting back on our three-year friendship, I realized I’d always been drawn to her in a way I wasn’t with other friends, but until that trip it had never crossed my mind to think of her in a romantic sense.”

She blames this partially on our culture’s obsession with putting people’s sexuality in boxes. “I guess technically I could label myself a number of ways. Or on second thought, not at all,” she writes. “Why are we so hellbent on defining each variation of sexuality, anyway? We’ve become a society of labels, even as we claim to be more open-minded than ever.”

Carter’s relationship with Cyrus strengthened her belief in rebuking labels. “While it was short-lived, I’ll remain eternally grateful to my most recent relationship for opening my eyes to this unexplored part of myself, and for inspiring a new level of self-discovery and wonder at all the possibilities of life,” she writes. “I’ve been forced to get to know myself in a far deeper way than ever before, and not just in terms of my sexual preferences. I’ve also been forced to reckon with who I am as a person.”

She adds that her experience with Cyrus was “so much more” than a “summer fling” or “same-sex affair” or any of the other unfair labels people put on it. “This was a profound journey of self-discovery,” she says. “For the first time, I listened to myself, forgot about the ‘norm’ and lived. I hope that everyone, when given the chance, takes the time to understand who exactly their most authentic selves are, untethered from what we may have been taught to believe.”

Lady Gaga Says She Had Almost Her 'Entire Body' X-Rayed After She Fell Off Stage

You don’t have to have seen Enigma, Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas show, to know it’s a wild time. When Lady Gaga’s residency at the Park MGM’s Park Theater goes according to schedule, it’s two hours of glitter, pyrotechnics, and all of her greatest hits (plus some deep cuts). But when Lady Gaga had a dramatic fall off of the stage during her performance last Thursday, fans learned that Enigma is, somehow, even more of an event when things go awry.

Things took a turn for the dangerous at Lady Gaga’s Thursday evening Enigma performance when she a brought a fan onstage to dance with her. At one moment, the fan hoisted Gaga into his arms, and then the two fell offstage into the crowd below. And yes, it was all captured on camera.

Within minutes of tumbling off the stage, Lady Gaga was helped back up by security and returned to her performance, choreography and all. “We fell into each other’s arms,” she joked minutes later while playing the piano. “We’re like Rose and Jack in the Titanic.” Watch the video here.

But Lady Gaga‘s best quip about the accident came after she headed to the hospital. On Instagram, the singer revealed that she had to get x-rays of almost all of her body following her fall.

This being Lady Gaga, she made her prognosis sound upbeat—and hilarious. She shared a shot of her hand’s x-ray, giving her followers the “okay” symbol. Her caption was nothing short of genius: “Just Dance. Gonna be ok?,” she wrote.

Fans filled the comments section with supportive messages for the singer. “Love you funny, morbid Queen,” one wrote. “Queen of falling and getting back up ?,” another said. No lie detected.

Of course, falling off of the stage wasn’t all jokes in reality. On Friday, the Oscar-winner shared an Instagram story from her friend’s Bachelorette dinner. In it, she said that she’s “in a lot of pain” following the accident.

NBA Star Dwyane Wade Fell on Chrissy Teigen During a Game, and It's Becoming a Meme

As we all know, Chrissy Teigen is a national treasure who should be protected at all costs. I adore her for many reasons—like her epic social media trolling moments and her real talks about everything from parenting to body image. But one of my favorite things about Teigen is her ability to unwittingly go viral every time she attends a public event. Remember when she got hit in the face with an umbrella on a New Year’s Eve telecast? Or how about when she seemingly dozed off at the 2017 Oscars? I’m eternally grateful for these moments.

And now we have a new one to add to the list. It all went down last night at a Miami Heat basketball game in Florida: Teigen showed up courtside with husband John Legend and actress Gabrielle Union to watch Union’s husband, Dwyane Wade, play in his final regular season home game before retiring. At one point during the game, Wade ended up in the laps of Teigen and Legend, and the photo (by Charles Trainer Jr. for the Miami Herald) is simply perfection. Just look at those facial expressions!

Naturally, Teigen had a witty response to the photo, calling it a “Renaissance painting.” She also said it was “an honor” to be crashed into by Wade.

Everyone had a good laugh about the whole thing. One fan tweeted, “This kind of shit seems to always happen to you lol. First the New Year’s umbrella and now this.”

Naturally, people are turning this viral moment into a slew of hilarious memes:

This wasn’t the only fun moment at the game, which kicked off with a celebration of Wade’s career. Union got in on the action by playfully grabbing her husband’s butt at one point:

And then there was a sweet moment with the night’s other big star, Union and Wade’s baby daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade:

Perhaps all retiring players should invite Chrissy Teigen to their final game. They’ll be pretty much guaranteed an amazing viral moment.

Jessica Biel Fell Asleep on Her Date Night With Justin Timberlake, and I So Relate

Justin Timberlake‘s birthday is today (January 31), and to celebrate he and Jessica Biel went out last night in New York City. Things got off to quite the hilarious start, though. In perhaps the most relatable move ever, Biel fell asleep in the car before their date even began.

The “Mirrors” singer filmed the entire situation and posted it to Instagram. “Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me,” he sings to himself quietly before panning to Biel, who couldn’t be bothered with anything besides her REM cycle. Wow. Same. Me.

Timberlake starts singing a little bit louder, and that’s what eventually wakes Biel up. “I’m just preparing for our big night out,” she says, laughing. “I’m just preparing!” Timberlake then chuckles to himself and gives some side eye. But the real shade should go to him for rustling Biel from her shut-eye. She looked so comfy!

Watch this all go down for yourself, below.

Listen, she’s onto something: I mean, why spend time and money going out for your birthday when you could sleep? I live in New York City. It’s cold right now. Really cold. Too cold to go outside. Napping sounds like way more fun than dealing with this frigid tundra.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel tied the knot in October 2012 after about five years of dating. They met at a party in Hollywood. “When I met Jess, it was undeniable how beautiful she is,” Timberlake wrote in his book Hindsight: & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me, released last fall. “I made some sort of sarcastic comment, really dry. Nobody got it except her. She laughed, and I noticed, all of a sudden, and in the way where you wonder if a person’s like you, if they have a very dry, dark sense of humor, too.”
