Pete Davidson's Deleted Instagram, Ariana's Concern, and Kanye's Tweets: Here's What Happened


On Saturday, Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson posted a concerning message to his Instagram feed that began, “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” before deleting it along with his account. The post—and subsequent aftermath—came in the wake of a much larger conversation (some might say feud) percolating on Twitter during the weekend that involved Drake and Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Davidson’s former fiancé Ariana Grande.

Following hours of coverage and concern from fans and friends, Davidson made a brief appearance on the fall finale of SNL. But a lot happened in the days leading up to Pete’s message, so here’s a brief recap to get you up to speed:

Ariana Grande Wades Into Kanye West and Drake’s Twitter Feud

On Thursday, Kanye West kicked off a Twitter clash with Drake, publicly reigniting a long-simmering feud that kicked off earlier this year. Amidst the chaos, Ariana Grande stepped in to ask the “grown men” to stop arguing so fans could enjoy she and Miley Cyrus’ new music. “Guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u,” she tweeted.

On Saturday, West responded to Grande, firing off a series of tweets letting her know that “all of this foolishness weighed on my mental health” and asking her not to “use me or this moment to promote a song.”

Grande responded, writing, “With all due respect, I don’t need to use anyone to promote anything. period. I was making a comment ab what men were doing at the time vs. women. It was a joke which i understand now was probably insensitive. I apologize if i was in any way triggering and hope u feel well today.” The tweet was later deleted.

The singer also posted two other tweets, which are also now deleted, reading “stop weaponizing mental health everyone,” and “regardless of how i feel about a situation, i can also care about their mental health.”

Pete Davidson Praises Kanye West

Davidson, who has been outspoken about his own mental health after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, took to Instagram on Saturday to applaud West, after he’d called out Grande, for being vocal about mental health.

“Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health,” Davidson wrote, per US Weekly. “I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.”

Many Grande fans saw this message as a dig at the pop star, who ended her relationship with Pete at the end of October. Many began viciously trolling him online.

Pete Davidson Posts a Highly Concerning Message to Instagram

Following the above tweets—and the bullies—Davidson posted a message written in the iPhone’s Notes app to Instagram with the following message: “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. I’m doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.” He then deleted the post and account, causing mass concern for his well being.

Fans and fellow celebrities, including Jada Pinkett Smith, Nicki Minaj, and Megan McCain, posted messages of support for the comedian to Twitter, and many called on those near to Davidson to check in. “Pete Davidson … hang in there. There is a lot of help out here. Surrender to some love somewhere around you … today! Right now! And then … let in the help that will become available. I’m praying for you Pete. I’ve been there. It gets better,” wrote Smith.

Grande also commented in a series of since-deleted Tweets to her ex-fiancé. “Man i’m so sorry i told a dumb joke,” she wrote, according to People, likely referencing the Tweet about Kanye West.

“I really didn’t mean any harm. all i want everyone to be healthy and happy. so desperately. please. my god,” she continued. “I’m downstairs and I’m not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything. I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but i’m here too.”

According to the New York Times, a police officer was sent to the Saturday Night Live studio to check on Davidson, and an NBC representative reportedly contacted the New York Police Department separately to say “Davidson was at work and was fine.” During Saturday night’s episode of SNL, Davidson appeared briefly to introduce Miley Cyrus as the evening’s musical guest.

Priyanka Chopra Just Made Her Marriage to Nick Jonas Instagram Official


Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have never been shy about sharing their love story on Instagram. So, it should come as no surprise that Chopra is making their marriage Instagram official just days after their multi-event wedding celebration in India last weekend.

A quick peek at her Instagram page reveals that the star’s name is now Priyanka Chopra Jonas. (Her actual handle is still @PriyankaChopra, unlike other recent celebrity bride Hailey Bieber who changed her handle as well.) As of now, it’s just a ‘Gram thing—her Twitter and Facebook pages have yet to be changed to include her new husband’s last name. And no word yet on whether Chopra will use her new name professionally in film and TV credits, the way, say, Jenna Dewan Tatum did during her marriage to Channing Tatum.

In case you (somehow) missed it, Chopra and Jonas got married last weekend in not one, but two, ceremonies celebrating both of their religious backgrounds—Christian and Hindu. “The emotions were running high during the ceremonies. I think especially during the Western wedding for me,” Jonas said of the big day. “You know, you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”

Chopra agreed. “It was all tears. All tears,” she said. “I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened and I saw his face, it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”

The couple said that they’re delaying their honeymoon for work obligations, but we’re glad to see that they’re already very much enjoying married life. Though, if we’re being totally honest, we wouldn’t have minded if Nick decided to take her last name instead. Nick Chopra sounds great, right?

Ariana Grande Just Responded to Pete Davidson’s Instagram About Fans Bullying Him


Pete Davidson just gave a rare public statement about his breakup with Ariana Grande. The Saturday Night Live comedian took to Instagram on Monday, December 3, and revealed he’s been bullied by fans, both online and in person, for roughly nine months. (He and Grande announced their split in mid-October.)

“I’ve kept my mouth shut,” his statement reads. “Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. Especially in today’s climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind boggling.”

After mentioning the bullying, Davidson continues, “I’ve spoken about BPD and being suicidal publicly only in hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don’t want to be on this Earth. I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the Internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t. I’m upset I even have to say this. To all those holding me down and seeing this for what it is, I see you and I love you.”

Grande replied to Davidson’s statement via a direct message, presumably with a fan. “I have never encouraged anything but forgiveness,” she wrote. “I care deeply about Pete and his health and would never encourage any kind of mistreatment. I haven’t seen any of it because I’m blocked, but I want you to know that I would never want or encourage that ever and you should know that. I care about him deeply.”

These are the first incredibly forthcoming messages Davidson and Grande have released about their breakup. Prior to this, Davidson made a few jokes in standup routines and on Saturday Night Live. Grande, meanwhile, stayed relatively mum until the release of her song “Thank U, Next,” which includes lyrics about Davidson.

Justin Bieber Left a Low-Key NSFW Comment on Hailey Baldwin's Instagram


Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin aren’t shy about their love for each other. They routinely post couple pics on Instagram, make out in parks all over New York City, and leave comments on one another’s social platforms. Bieber took the couple’s PDA up a notch, though, with a little comment he posted on Baldwin’s most recent Instagram photo.

“Back again as the face of @nicolebenisti wearing my favorite coat,” Baldwin posted to Instagram on Friday (November 16) alongside a photo of herself modeling for Nicole Benisti. We can’t include the pic here—but we can show you the rather…passionate string of comments Bieber left underneath.

“Ur just too much,” he wrote at first, which is totally PG and fine. But here’s what he followed that up with: “U turn me on.” Tell us how you really feel, Biebs.

Bieber’s, erm, enthusiasm for Baldwin shouldn’t come as a surprise. He recently changed the caption of one of his Instagram photos featuring her from just a heart emoji to, “My wife is awesome.” He also posted an incredibly long tribute to Baldwin in July when he confirmed their engagement.

“You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else,” he wrote. “You make me so much better and we compliment each other so well. Can’t wait for the best season of life yet. It’s funny because now with you everything seems to make sense! The thing I am most excited for is that my little brother and sister get to see another healthy stable marriage and look for the same. God’s timing really is literally perfect.”

White Influencers Appearing Black Is the Instagram Trend No One Asked For


For centuries, black women’s physical features have been seen as undesirable because of our inability to conform with “mainstream,” Eurocentric beauty standards. And yet, time and time again, when a famous white woman adopts those features endemic to women of color, it’s considered “cool,” “pretty,” or “trendy.” The debate is nothing new. Just look at the discussion around Kylie Jenner’s lips. She might have the option to get rid of them—or wear “boxer braids for fun—but for black women, these attributes are our genes and culture, not merely an accessory.

And, well, here we are again. The latest example to sweep the internet? White influencers and models appear to be passing as light-skin black or biracial women—also known as “blackfishing”—on Instagram.

The conversation first bubbled up on Twitter, after one user shared a conversation between her and another one of her followers about a Swedish Instagram influencer with over 200k followers. Despite the woman’s appearance—deep, tan, racially ambiguous skin; full lips; and wavy hair—a deeper dive through Emma Hallberg‘s feed showed that before all the spray tans, her skin was actually quite pale. That tweet caused an uproar and a full-on debate about what it means to “look black.”

One user commented, “Some of y’all gotta stop trynna make this look OK..racial fetishism objectifies POC. I bet this girl thinks she looks more “aesthetic” when she makes herself look like a light skinned black girl.”

Another user commented, “White woman if you don’t realize the formula for instant social media fame and notoriety is to copy black womens’ style, appropriate black women culture and pretend to be a mix/light skin black woman then you’re lost in the sauce.” [all sic.]

“I genuinely believed this girl was Afro-Latina,” Deja told The Cut. “She had been mimicking black features and getting famous for it. She has been darkening her skin several tones deeper than her natural shade, braiding her hair to make it look similar to mixed people’s curl pattern, and even been featured on Instagram accounts made for black hairstyles and spotlighting black women. The sad part is she really fooled everyone into believing she was a mixed girl.”

According to Buzzfeed, the influencer self-identifies as white—which she’s confirmed to others on social media (Glamour has reached out for comment and will update when we’ve heard back.)

For example, after an old Snapchat photo resurfaced of her explaining how she got her hair wavy, Hallberg shared that she sleeps with braids in her hair to achieve this wavy look. And after old images surfaced when her skin was noticeably lighter, she was approached by another Instagram user asking if she was white and why her skin used to look so much lighter. She responded, “Yes, I’m white and I never claimed to be anything else.” She also went on to explain that those “before” pictures were taken after summer, where she gets the same tan every year.

“It made me sad that some of my natural features are hurting and upsetting people. It also made me upset and scared that I can’t look the way I look naturally, without receiving false accusations, hate, and threats,” she told Buzzfeed.“I do not have any specific intentions other than [to] show my passion for makeup and fashion.”

Unfortunately, Hallberg isn’t the only white woman who has been recently called out for the same act. Another Twitter thread started to shed light on several white influencers appearing to co-opt black features. Most of them aren’t from the U.S., where appropriation often gets lost in historical context, but nonetheless, with easy access to the Internet and the global conversations that take place around blackface, it’s no excuse.

As a woman of color, it’s disappointing to see that situations like these keep happening, and it’s equally as disheartening that black women are still being held to a different standard when it comes to our physical traits. White women work so hard to achieve the same looks we were born with—and they’re celebrated for them while we’re still shunned. I wish I had an answer to make all it stop. But until then, I’ll keep shouting into the void. Influencers, can you just not?

Bella Hadid Posted a Heartbreaking Instagram About the California Wildfires


Destructive wildfires are currently ravaging sections of Northern and Southern California with devastating force. According to an estimate by CNN, nearly 250,000 people across the state have been evacuated from their homes as a result. In Southern California, the currently uncontrolled Woolsey fire in Ventura County and Malibu has burned over 70,000 acres of land. In response to the event, Bella Hadid posted a heartfelt tribute to Malibu, where she and siblings Gigi and Anwar Hadid grew up, on her Instagram.

According to Hadid’s post, the high school she attended and a number of town landmarks have been lost in the fire. “[C]an’t believe this….it makes me so emotional looking at these photographs taken in the past two days. our beautiful Malibu looks so sad today,” she wrote. “[M]alibu is such a connected, loving community with families that have lived there for 30+ years. Many of them growing up together raising children together for so many decades making so many memories… our high school has gone down as well as so many of the homes we all grew up in…pavilions was more than just a grocery store.?”

Although Hadid is not in California at the time—she just wrapped filming for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City—the tragedy deeply resonated with her, and she expressed empathy to her those who have been affected, adding that she hopes “we can come up with something very soon to help.”

“I can’t even imagine how you all are feeling back home having to evacuate…im so sorry that you have to watch this happen right in front of you- Im sure it is the most painful thing in the world,” she continued. “[M]y heart is so broken I am so sorry to every single person that lost their homes, and I hope we can come up with something very soon to help… as you can see- horses and other animals are being brought to beaches because there is no way to get out of Malibu anymore.”

To assist with relief efforts, Hadid shared contact information for several relief organizations in her post, especially for those who might need to take their animals out of harm’s way. “I added a few places you can evacuate your animals to if anyone that needs help is reading this… I can’t imagine having to leave my horses behind..I feel so helpless right now …” she said. “[T]hank you to all of the incredible fire fighters in Malibu and from the valley who are working so hard in danger for the community. You are so incredible And we salute you. I hope everyone is safe and I am praying for this psychotic fire to just stop!!!!!”

Sister Gigi Hadid also shared a tribute to the city on her Instagram story. “To my friends and their families and our whole community: I wish the best for your safety and the security of your homes. I’m so sorry to everyone who has everyone who has lost already in these fires…& heartbroken for our cherished Malibu High[.]”
