Selena Gomez Is Spending New Year's Eve in Mexico—Without Justin Bieber


Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are the cause of much speculation lately, for obvious reasons. A few weeks ago they took a very PG-rated trip to the Sugar Factor Candy store in Seattle for some sweet treats and a shared non-alcoholic $34 Ocean Blue mocktail. Things seemed good until Gomez reportedly walked out on Bieber because he was doing some embarrassing dance movies, which is kind of incredible if you put yourself in her shoes. Meanwhile, rumor has it that he wasn’t invited to her family’s Christmas celebrations—we don’t know the full details why, but seems a little awkward, no?

Anyway, there’s nothing like a post-Christmas break break, and people are talking about Gomez’s latest trip…without Bieber. But before you read too much into that and think they broke up, that is not the case. Instead, Selena just decided to have a little break from the United States’ cold, dreary winter weather and hopped on a private jet to Cabo this week with some of her best friends to spend their sixth New Year’s together. From there, reports E!, she went straight to a “private villa that features 360-degree views of the ocean blue water and an infinity pool.” Yeah, um, we’d head straight there too.

Of course, what’s a trip to Cabo without hitting up the beach for a ‘gram?

Given this trip looks to be “girlfriends only,” one might surmise that this will be a Justin-less ringing-in of 2018, unless he shows up on his own flight. Which, hey, that could happen: After all, couples don’t necessarily always travel together, and a two-hour and 30-minute flight creates a lot of time for, shall we say, creative dance moves in a very small, enclosed, exitless space.

But our bet is on Selena just enjoying some quality time with some of her BFFs, which is awesome. Meanwhile, Bieber is enjoying some me time: Fans have spotted him playing hockey in Canada.

Zendaya Posted a Makeup Tutorial for the Ultimate New Year’s Eve Smoky Eye


If there’s one night of the whole year to go all out glam with your makeup, it’s New Years Eve. We’re talking glitter liner, unicorn highlighter, a bright red lip—now’s definitely the time to try a bold look. Party makeup, after all, was basically made for celebrating the start of the new year. There are a ton of amazing celebrities’ beauty looks that would be perfect for the occasion, but Zendaya just gave us a step-by-step tutorial for nailing her own choice of look for the evening: a (very sultry) smoky eye—with a twist.

The actress, who happens to be extremely talented when it comes to doing her own makeup, filmed a makeup tutorial with beauty influencer Alissa Ashley so the pair could take us through the process of getting two statement-making smoky eye looks just in time for Sunday’s round of parties.

For the tutorial, Zendaya went with a dark bronzey eye—a twist from the normal gray-based tones—and a glossy lip. She starts with her eye makeup, leaving her skin bare until the smoky eye is almost complete. Then she focuses on her skin, leaving her brows for last. “It’s my little treat at the end,” she says.

After priming her eyes, she smudges the CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner ($5.19) up from her lash line and onto her lid to create her smoky eye. She tops it off with some false lashes before patting on a bronzey shadow just in the center of her lid as an added highlight.

For the skin, Zendaya uses foundation as her base and her contour, blending them all together before setting her makeup for a seamless finish. “I use just darker shades of foundation, basically,” she says. “And I like to blend it in with a fluffy brush, so I blend my creams in with a blush brush.”

Zendaya uses the shade Shell from the CoverGirl Tru Naked Eyeshadow Palette ($9.99) as a highlight on her cheekbones. It’s a frosty shade that still looks natural and not too in-your-face, keeping all the attention on the eyes. She topped it all off with some lipgloss and some setting spray (because no one’s got time to retouch on New Year’s Eve).

    A Pregnant Khloé Kardashian Wore the Sparkliest Naked Jumpsuit on Christmas Eve


    As you might have heard by now, the epic annual Kardashian Christmas party took place on Christmas Eve—and Kris Jenner left no stop un-pulled. You also might have heard that the family has also been teasing us all Advent season long by issuing a day-by-day Christmas-card-style pic of the family, all sans Kylie Jenner, which many speculate has to do with the fact that she’s planning to reveal her rumored pregnancy on Christmas Day. But enough about the family! We’re here to talk about Khloé Kardashian, who announced her own pregnancy on December 20, and what she wore to the Krismas party on Sunday night.

    What she wore was the world’s sparkliest, nakedest jumpsuit. We caught a glimpse of it in some of the videos from the family’s huge party, but it wasn’t until Monday that she posted a picture of it to her Instagram. It’s perfect for the kind of all-out party Kris hosted: The whole garment was decked out in undulating lines of fringe that gave it a very modern flapper vibe practically designed for the KiraKira app. You can bet there was a gorgeous white fur coat thrown over the look.

    We’ve definitely seen other members of the family in naked dresses before, too—they’re practically famous for them, after all. Kendall Jenner wore one made from a single piece of string. Kim Kardashian, when she isn’t foregoing pants altogether, has also been known to don a naked dress from time to time (one notable example being one made of totally transparent vinyl-looking material).

    But we’re loving this ultra-fresh take on the look. Hey, a jumpsuit is probably better for dancing, anyway—and there was a lot of that going on last night.

    Mariah Carey Is Coming Back to Perform on New Year's Eve


    After last year’s technically glitchy New Year’s Eve performance, Mariah Carey is coming back to sing for ABC’s famous live television event, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.

    Everyone deserves a second chance, after all. Carey is certainly no exception after her mishap and the backlash that followed last year. Nearly everything that could go wrong on live television happened to Carey in her three-song set.

    In case you don’t remember, all was nearly well throughout “Auld Lang Syne”. Then things started to glitch as “Emotions” took off: She said mid-song that her monitors weren’t working. Carey, visibly upset, attempted to push through the 1991 hit as she urged the audience to sing along. She ended the set right before the ball dropped with “We Belong Together”, holding the microphone away from her mouth and interrupting the song with cries of “Happy New Year!”

    Following the mishap, Carey’s team said she couldn’t hear her cues and alleged that Dick Clark Productions sabotaged her performance for the ratings. Dick Clark Productions eventually admitted to technical errors.

    But time apparently heals all wounds.

    “We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration,” Carey’s team and Dick Clark Productions said in a joint statement to The Associated Press on Saturday. “See you in Times Square!”

    Carey also confirmed her return on her Twitter account.

    She’ll kick off the new year alongside former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas, and country band Sugarland.
