HBO Just Made So Many Shows and Movies Available to Stream for Free


How would you like some very good news heading into another weekend of self-isolation amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic? HBO is making a number of its hit shows, documentary series, and movies available to stream for free.

That’s right: Many of the network’s hits are now available to stream completely for free on HBO NOW and HBO GO—no subscription necessary. They made the announcement in a series of tweets writing, “My bosses want me to tell you these series will be available to stream on HBO NOW and HBO GO for free starting tomorrow: @BallersHBO, Barry, @SiliconHBO, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Succession, True Blood, @VeepHBO, The Wire #StayHomeBoxOffice.”

That lineup alone could get you through a few weeks and includes some of the most iconic television shows of all time. If you never watched the story of Tony Soprano and his mob family and actual family living life in New Jersey, now’s the time to catch up. And we can hardly put into words how brilliant The Wire—which tells the stories of the drug scene in Baltimore through the lens of dealers, cops, users, and journalists—is. Or you can catch up on HBO’s more recent hits, like Succession and Barry, both of which will be back with new material at some point in the future.

HBO has also made many of their award-winning documentaries available for free, like Jane Fonda in Five Acts, McMillion$, and The Inventor. There are also many movies on the list, including Rebel Wilson’s Isn’t It Romantic?, Ryan Reynolds’s Detective Pikachu, and The Lego Movie 2.

This is a pretty awesome (and savvy) move by HBO, and everyone should take advantage of it while they can. We’re guessing you’ll have a lot of time on your hands over the next few days, and at least now you’ll have some new “friends” to spend it with on your couch.

Shows Like The Bachelor: Stream These Reality TV Series While You Wait for The Bachelorette Premiere


In the mood to watch shows like The Bachelor now that Peter Weber’s season has ended? I mean, we do have several weeks before Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette airs. You have a reality-TV itch that needs scratching. And not just any kind of reality show: You need one that perfectly blends romance, drama, hot people, and gorgeous locations. A show that’s equal parts sappy and salacious. One during which you’re laughing hysterically in one scene but then oddly sentimental the next.

The Bachelorette and The Bachelor are masters of this craft, of course, but there are other reality shows that do it too—and they’ll save you during this rose ceremony drought.

Take Love Island, the British dating series that, on the surface, is completely bonkers. But by episode three you’re emotionally attached to all the contestants. Or how about Netflix’s Love Is Blind, which will have you shouting at your screen within minutes? Bottom line is there’s plenty out there to keep you occupied until that first rose ceremony.

Grammys 2020: How to Live Stream and Watch the Show


Music royalty is set to gather tonight, Sunday January 26, so if you’ve yet to cut that cable cord, here’s how to watch the Grammys live stream.

62nd Annual Grammy Awards—which will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS starting at 8 p.m. ET—can be live streamed on the network’s streaming platform, CBS All-Access, where you can currently sign up for a free 7-day trial. (If you subscribe, be sure to also check out the very-excellent The Good Fight which streams exclusively on CBS All-Access.)

Considering this year’s show is going to be hosted by Alicia Keys and will feature performances by a ton of your faves including Lizzo, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, and an all-star Prince tribute, you’re not going to want to miss a minute. The presenter list is also stacked: Common, Cynthia Erivo, Dua Lipa, Billy Porter, Ava DuVernay, Shania Twain, Smokey Robinson, Bebe Rexha, Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder are all included in the lineup.

How to Watch the Grammys Red Carpet

You can also stream the Grammys red carpet on Sunday night. Considering this awards show usually features some of the most interesting celebrity fashion choices, we’d highly recommend tuning in to Entertainment Tonight‘s live coverage. The Recording Academy and CBS will stream GRAMMYs Live From the Red Carpet exclusively on Twitter via @RecordingAcad and @CBS. The live stream will be hosted by ET Live‘s Cassie DiLaura and The Recording Academy’s Alina Vission, the pre-show will feature coverage of red carpet arrivals and all kinds of behind-the-scenes action starting at 5 p.m. ET.

As for who we expect to take home statues: The Recording Academy, along with the rest of the world, seemed to have fallen in love with Lizzo, as the singer-rapper-flautist was nominated in eight major categories, including Album of the Year for Cuz I Love You. Her viral hit “Truth Hurts” was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, capping off what’s been an incredible year for her.

The Academy also embraced young artists like Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X. Lana Del Rey received nominations for her album Norman Fucking Rockwell!, while Ariana Grande’s album Thank U, Next was recognized in the Best Pop Vocal category along with Taylor Swift’s “Lover”. The Best ’90s Movies You Can Stream Right Now


If we could relive the ’90s every day, we would. We’re here for all of it: the chokers, the miniskirts, the baggy pants, the slew of pre-internet teen heartthrobs.

Sadly, we don’t have access to a time-travel machine, but we do have a ton of streaming services completely loaded with the best ’90s movies. And there are so many classics to choose from: There is, of course, Clueless, i.e., the absolute peak of the teen movie genre that features the decade’s most beloved heroine Cher Horowitz; the always comforting wackiness of Michael Jordan coaching the Looney Tunes in the epic basketball flick Space Jam; and then one of the lengthiest—but greatest—love stories of all time, Titanic.

The Best True Crime TV Shows You Can Stream Right Now


Hulu’s The Act is the latest true crime show to come out, and people are hooked. The miniseries centers on the real-life murder of Dee Dee Blanchard, a mother with Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome who intentionally made her daughter, Gypsy, sick. After enduring years of abuse, Gypsy retaliated by conspiring with her Internet boyfriend to kill her mother and run away together. It’s a fascinating tale that demonstrates, in a horrifying way, what human beings are capable of.

Beyond The Act, though, it seems the world can’t get enough of true crime TV shows in general. The genre is a full-blown phenomenon that spans all different types of media. Podcasts like Serial and Crime Junkie are always in the top slots on iTunes. Documentaries like Fyre quickly go viral on social media and birth hundreds of memes. Why true crime is so popular remains a mystery. Maybe we love it because it helps put our own lives in perspective. Perhaps it’s the car-crash mentality—we just can’t look away. Either way, our culture’s appetite for true crime has reached critical mass, which is why there’s a new movie, TV show, or documentary release seemingly every week.

So while you’re waiting for the next episode of The Act to premiere on Hulu, check out these titles, below. I suggest breaking them up with some comedies, though. It’s all about the balance.
