Did Peter Weber Just Reveal the Real Reason He and Madison Broke Up After ‘The Bachelor’?

Peter Weber is keeping sane during the coronavirus pandemic by answering a lot of fan questions on Instagram Stories…and the latest may have revealed how he truly feels about his breakup from Madison Prewett after The Bachelor.

On Sunday, March 22, one fan took part in the former Bachelor’s Q&A by requesting some breakup advice. “Advice for someone who was just broken up with out of a 3-year relationship,” the anonymous user requested. Weber’s answer, however, seemed extremely personal.

“Breakups are supposed to hurt,” Weber wrote. “But I believe things happen for a reason and you’re one step closer to your person now.” That’s sweet, but it’s what he says next that feels pretty close to home.

“You should never want to be with someone that doesn’t want you back the same way,” he concluded, pairing the sentiment with a pensive solo pic. Hmmm…

While this could have just been earnest advice to a fellow brokenhearted human, his answer is particularly telling when you take into account Weber and Prewett’s relationship before the Barb of it all and the “After the Final Rose” ceremony. Before Weber’s mom criticized the couple on national television, they had already been through a breakup. Prewett left the competition after realizing how different her values were from Weber’s. The fact that he’d slept with the other contestants during Fantasy Suite week seemed like just the breaking point.

Weber even told Prewett that she was the only one whose feelings toward him weren’t clear, and Prewett apparently admitted to Barb she wouldn’t agree to an engagement. Could they have simply realized their feelings were not on the same level?

“Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” Weber wrote on Instagram on March 13, just three days after The Bachelor finale. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”

Weber answered a bunch of other questions during the Q&A, as well, including one about the current state of a certain injury.

“Doing a lot better than this pic haha,” he replied to someone who asked about his forehead. “Been getting microneedling done on it every few months and cream twice a day. Dr says it takes about a year to fully heal.” With all the joyful Instagrams Weber has been posting lately, it seems like that’s not the only scar beginning to fade.

No, Peter Weber's Mom Isn't Responsible For His ‘Bachelor’ Breakup from Madison Prewett

Peter Weber doesn’t blame Barb for the end of his relationship.

Just three days after declaring their love for one another on The Bachelor finale, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett announced their split. In those three days, a lot was said about Weber’s mother, Babara, who clearly didn’t approve of Prewett (that’s an understatement). However, Weber wants it known that his mom had nothing to do with it.

“No. This is stuff between Madi and I, solely, 100 percent,” Weber told TMZ when asked if his split with Prewett was due to his mother. “And people have their opinions, but this is just between the two of us, and it’s just mutual respect and love. That’s all.”

Following the finale, Glamour spoke with Bachelor host Chris Harrison who said Weber and his mother’s relationship was “damaged” by her finale behavior.

“Of course it’s damaged,” he said. “It was damaged last night.”

Harrison added, “The overwhelming feeling I had was just being gutted. I was sad and a little depressed afterward. I love Barb and Peter Sr., and I love Peter Jr. I’ve been to their home. They’re my neighbors! I adore these people. For that to happen on my watch, I felt a little guilty. I felt a little responsible, and I tried to fix it. I felt bad, like I had a hand in this, and that sucks.”

On Friday, March 13, Weber posted an Instagram story video of himself with his mom, assuring fans everywhere that they’re actually doing just fine, thank you very much. In the video, Weber read a headline aloud about their “strained” relationship then asked his mom’s comment. All she said was, “I love you,” before Weber called the entire ordeal “fake news.”

Obviously, this wasn’t the only social media message Weber shared with fans on Friday. In the post announcing his breakup from Prewett, Weber also shared his feelings on all the women he spent time with on The Bachelor.

“I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season,” Weber wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me. Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves wholeheartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward.”

He continued, directly referencing Prewett by adding, “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.“

With Prewett chilling with Selena Gomez post-split, it looks like everyone is doing just fine. Barb included.

Here's How Bachelor Peter Weber Is Doing Post-Split From Madison Prewett

Bachelor Peter Weber is feeling good enough to sing.

Look, Weber has had quite a week. After issuing a statement that he’d split from Madison Prewett—the contestant he started dating after breaking off his engagement with Hannah Ann Sluss—he’s had to deal with the drama surrounding both break-ups. On top of all that, rumors have been circulating that Weber’s relationship with his mother Barb has been “damaged” due to the events of the After the Final Rose ceremony. On Saturday, the pilot took to his Instagram Stories to put one rumor to rest while posting a few other videos that let fans in on his state of mind. Apparently, he’s feeling good enough to sing Kygo’s “Happy Now” at the top of his lungs.

On Friday, March 13, Weber first posted a video of himself hanging out with his mom, despite reports that their relationship is strained. He read the headline aloud, before asking for his mom’s comment. “I love you,” she responded. The pilot then claimed his dog is calling these reports “fake news.”

Side note: Bachelor producer Julie LaPlaca cleared up another rumor about Weber on Instagram that same day. “Yes that was @pilot_pete in the tan jacket, no we didn’t kiss at midnight,” she wrote in the caption of a new photo, referring to the post that started the speculation back in January. “But, whoever ends up as his copilot for life is one lucky lady, because this guy has a heart of gold,” she added, confirming that they are still not seeing each other.

But back to Weber’s own posts. A while after the stories featuring his parents, he shared a few more videos of himself singing and dancing to the Kygo song “Happy Now” with some friends.

The song may be a veiled reference to his relationship with Prewett. “You and me, it was good, but it wasn’t right/And it’ll be hard, but I know I will make it out/Step by step, I’ll move on and get on with life,” is just one relevant lyric he sang out. Still, he’s probably just feeling all kinds of relief now that his season is over. Prewett seems fine too, btw, and was recently spotted in Selena Gomez’s own Instagram Stories since the breakup.

All this begs the question: what would Bachelor Nation do without social media?

‘Bachelor’ Producer, Julie LaPlaca, Finally Addressed Those Peter Weber Dating Rumors

At least one aspect of this very tangled season of The Bachelor has been cleared up: Julie LaPlaca, the producer who was rumored to have dated Peter Weber behind-the-scenes, finally set the record straight.

During this week’s finale, Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, took it back, and started dating Madison Prewett.

Just three days later, they split, his mom weighed in, and Selena Gomez took Madison under her wing. It doesn’t feel like the show has really ended, huh?

On Friday, March 14, LaPlaca–who has kept mum since rumors that she dated the pilot during his season–also took to Instagram to answer some burning questions. She posted a photo from the same New Year’s Eve outing that seems to have kicked off all the dating speculation.

The photo shows her in Times Square with Weber, but she said nothing really went on between them. “Yes that was @pilot_pete in the tan jacket, no we didn’t kiss at midnight,” she wrote in the photo. “But, whoever ends up as his copilot for life is one lucky lady, because this guy has a heart of gold.” She added a red heart and an airplane emoji.

Things seemed pretty suspicious back in January, when Weber’s dad posted a photo from the same night that shows his family with LaPlaca’s. All it said was, “New Year’s Eve lunch with the gang at Carmine’s.”

Robert Mills, an executive from ABC, played up the relationship a bit when Entertainment Tonight asked about the Bachelor finale and rumors of LaPlaca and Weber hanging out. “Well, I hate to get in the way of a good rumor, so I’m not going to confirm or deny about whether he ends up with a producer!” Mills said. “I don’t know how we’d ever top that though! But, it is crazy.” He added, “There’s a lot of craziness, it’s a roller coaster, but I would say even now the roller coaster hasn’t ended, and it won’t end until after After the Final Rose.”

So Weber, Prewett, and Sluss are all still single, folks! But before you slide into Sluss’ DM’s, remember that she has her eye on Tyler Cameron. Now that’s a couple we can see ourselves shipping hard.

Shows Like The Bachelor: Stream These Reality TV Series While You Wait for The Bachelorette Premiere

In the mood to watch shows like The Bachelor now that Peter Weber’s season has ended? I mean, we do have several weeks before Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette airs. You have a reality-TV itch that needs scratching. And not just any kind of reality show: You need one that perfectly blends romance, drama, hot people, and gorgeous locations. A show that’s equal parts sappy and salacious. One during which you’re laughing hysterically in one scene but then oddly sentimental the next.

The Bachelorette and The Bachelor are masters of this craft, of course, but there are other reality shows that do it too—and they’ll save you during this rose ceremony drought.

Take Love Island, the British dating series that, on the surface, is completely bonkers. But by episode three you’re emotionally attached to all the contestants. Or how about Netflix’s Love Is Blind, which will have you shouting at your screen within minutes? Bottom line is there’s plenty out there to keep you occupied until that first rose ceremony.

Here are our recommendations for shows like The Bachelor and Bachelorette, but be warned: Once you start any of these shows, you won’t stop.

Peter Weber Was ‘Visibly Shaken’ After the ‘Bachelor’ Live Finale

“The hits start coming and they don’t stop coming.” —Smash Mouth and Bachelor Peter Weber, probably.

Let me explain: Tuesday, March 10, marked the emotional finale for the latest season of The Bachelor, and it was brutal for Weber, who proposed to a girl he was clearly not in love with just to dump her and end up with someone else whom he knows his entire family hates. To say he was put through the wringer on this live finale would be an understatement.

First, his ex-fiancée, Hannah Ann Sluss, took him to task. Then his own mother, Barb, who seriously said his relationship with Madison Prewett would fail.

“Chris, [Peter is] going to have to fail to succeed. That’s it,” Barb said to host Chris Harrison on the live finale. “All his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work.” If I were Weber, I would be mortified—and according to Chris Harrison, he absolutely was.

“He was backstage standing next to Madison, visibly upset, venting to producers, just shaken,” Harrison told Us Weekly on Wednesday, March 11. “His world got kind of shaken on live TV. That’s something I don’t wish on anybody. It was uncomfortable, and he was probably embarrassed—probably angry, and rightfully so.”

John Fleenor/ABC

Harrison also spoke at length to Glamour’s West Coast editor Jessica Radloff about the incident, which he somewhat blames himself for. “I was sad and a little depressed afterward,” he said. “For that to happen on my watch, I felt a little guilty. I felt a little responsible, and I tried to fix it. I felt bad, like I had a hand in this, and that sucks.”

In the very candid interview, Harrison confirmed Barb and Peter Weber’s relationship has been “damaged” and questioned whether Peter’s mother could have backed off her son and his girlfriend a little bit. “Barb and Peter Sr. flew across the world, but maybe Barb needs to consider who this is about. Maybe it’s not about her. Maybe this is about her son and not about her Instagram followers or her DMs. I think that may have gotten lost a little bit,” he said.

Make sure to read the full postmortem interview here.
