Gina Rodriguez Wrote the Most Heartfelt Tribute to ‘Jane the Virgin’

Jane the Virgin ended its spectacular five-season run on The CW this week, and it’s clear that the show’s star, Gina Rodriguez, is feeling all the things. On Wednesday, July 31, just before the grand finale, she posted a lengthy, heartfelt post on Instagram about what the ending meant to her.

She shared a photo of herself wearing a black jacket over a wedding dress—a clue about the happy way the creators decided to end Jane the Virgin. “Wow,” she wrote. “We started shooting the first season of Jane in July 2014. A few days into shooting I turned 30 on set. Yesterday I turned 35. And today is the very last episodes, 99 and 100, airing of Jane the Virgin. Five years. Five years of love, laughter, growth, pain, surprises, deaths, new births and a shit ton of memories.”

“Thank you, Gina, for giving us Jane Villanueva and for all the lessons I have learned through this beautiful character that you portrayed amazingly and to your full potential with your entire heart. No one else could play Jane like you,” one fan wrote in the comments section. Yvonne Orji, known for playing Molly on Issa Rae’s HBO hit Insecure, added, “Amazing!!! AMAZING! 5 glorious years!!”

Gina Rodriguez wasn’t the only person who walked down memory lane before yesterday’s emotional finale. Her co-star, Justin Baldoni, who plays love interest Rafael Solano, posted an interview in which he tears up talking about the impact of getting to work on Jane. Watch it for yourself, above.

“It’s rare to get a chance to be a part of something this beautiful,” he said. “You grow up and you dream about being a performer or being an actor or being a director, and those dreams seem so far away from who you are as a young boy, and then you win the lottery and it happens.”

Ashley Benson's New Tattoo Sure Looks Like a Tribute to Cara Delevingne

The Internet can’t stop buzzing about Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne‘s relationship. The two actors confirmed to the world that they’re an item in June, when Delevingne posted a video of the couple kissing. (Benson commented on the post with three simple hearts.)

Now, it appears they have taken the next step in the celebrity relationship timeline: tattoos. In a new Instagram post promoting her collaboration with eyewear brand Prive Revaux, Ashley Benson’s newest ink was on full display, and it sure looks like it’s a tribute to Cara Delevingne. As you can see in the Instagram post, below, Benson has the letters “C” and “D” tattooed on her side, near her armpit. “So excited to share this with you guys ? My new collection with @priverevaux is here. Link in bio,” she wrote in the caption.

Fans quickly spotted the initials. “C.D magaaadd♥️?,” one person wrote. Another posted, “I spy caras initials!?.”

Photographed by Nicholas Maggio for Privé Revaux

This isn’t the first time Benson has seemingly paid tribute to Delevingne. Last August, she posted a photo on Instagram wearing a necklace with Delevingne’s initial (“C”) and her own (“A”).

Though the couple seems super happy together, they’ve still had to deal with some drama and apparent homophobia. “Ashley I know you are here,” one stranger wrote on Benson’s Instagram back in April. “I’m serious, you need to stay away from that devil and never go back. I’m sure many strong, handsome, religious man [sic] would take you back in a heartbeat. You are not like this. You aren’t gay. You love men, and you need one.”

Benson didn’t take this comment lying down, of course. She shut down the troll with a simple, pointed statement: “You need to mind your own business. Stop making things up.” Say it louder for the people in the back, Ash.

Nick Jonas Paid the Sweetest Tribute to Priyanka Chopra One Year After Their First Date

It’s hard to believe that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have only been dating for a year. (A year!) So much has happened: Flirty Instagram activity evolved into a summer (and fall) of headline-grabbing dates, which turned into a Tiffany engagement ring, which became a wedding at a palace in Jodhpur, India—and just a few wedding receptions. And that was all in 2018! This year, the couple’s been popping up on date nights with the other power couple in their Fab Four (Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas), killing it with their Met Gala red carpet return, and making their Cannes debut with plenty of outfit changes in tow. It’s safe to say they’ve had a pretty busy past 365 days.

Today, Jonas took a minute to write a super-sweet tribute on Instagram to Chopra to make the one-year anniversary since their first date (which, no, wasn’t the 2017 Met Gala—although that was the first time they were spotted together publicly). It features a picture of the two of them wearing one of their coordinated Cannes looks, with Jonas dipping Chopra romantically in front of a balcony.

“One year ago today I went to go see Beauty and the Beast at the Hollywood bowl with a group of friends. One of those friends was the woman that would become my best friend, my confidant, my muse, my beautiful wife. I am so grateful for our journey together so far. You make me smile every day and you inspire me to be the best version of myself. I am honored to be your husband. I love you. ❤️ @priyankachopra,” Jonas wrote.

An hour after he posted it, Chopra seems to have noticed his tag: “The most amazing thing that ever happened to me is you. I love you babs.. ?,” she replied.

Yep, it’s pretty adorable—but what about these two isn’t?

Chrissy Teigen's Video Tribute to Insta-Husband John Legend Is Straight-Up Perfection

It’s no secret that Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are #couplegoals. Just take their joint appearance at this year’s Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards where Legend told the audience, “Hello, everyone. I’m John. Also known as Chrissy Teigen’s trophy husband. Sometimes Chrissy likes to take me out on the town and show me off a little. Nights like this one, when people are taking pictures. I have a career in the music business, but we all know who the star of the family is.”

But in our social-media-driven age, it’s not just words that matter in a relationship: It all comes down to the ‘gram—more specifically, a partner’s ability to take a top-notch Instagram of their S.O. And this just so happens to be John Legend’s speciality—and this weekend, he proved himself to be in a Insta-husband class all his own.

While on vacation with their children, Luna and Miles, Legend took time out of his R&R to nail the perfect shot of Teigen on the beach: She’s living her best vacation life in an emerald green dress, squatting in the sand. And being the jokester Teigen is, she made sure to capture a video of Legend’s artistic process at work.

True to her signature wit, Teigen captioned her video: “Thank u for always supporting my Instagram dreams. This train only moves because of you(r phone) .. you are the tracks that lay the foundation .. creating a direct path to hope and possibilities of likes and curated content. what u do is important. I will never take u for granted, my king.”

She posted the result herself:

The photo of Teigen isn’t the only great shot from the family’s tropical getaway (in an undisclosed location): Earlier this week Teigen shared a twinning shot of Legend and their son, Miles.

And a pic of quickly-growing-up Luna:

Teigen also posted one more pic of her with both kids, which, per her usual style, is beyond relatable to any parent who’s taken pics for the ‘gram while on vacation. “these are my kids. honestly so tired of thinking of captions”

We feel ya, Chrissy—but we gotta say, you have a great photographer.

Jenna Bush Hager Remembers Her Grandfather, Former President George H. W. Bush, in a Touching Tribute

Former President George H.W. Bush, who led the nation as a Republican from 1989 to 1993, died Friday night in his home in Houston, Texas. Although no specific cause of death has been announced at time of publish, the 94-year-old had been receiving treatment for a form of Parkinson’s disease. As the world remembers the 41st President’s legacy, including his diplomacy during the Cold War, granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late grandfather.

Jenna—the daughter of Bush Sr.’s son, former President George W. Bush—dedicated two consecutive posts to her grandfather just hours after his death.

The first post, in slideshow format, begins with a joyful pic of her, Bush Sr., and Jenna’s twin sister, Barbara (who’s named after Bush Sr.’s wife, First Lady Barbara Bush). “Waking up missing this giant of a man who gave me everything,” she wrote. “He taught me and my family about service, family, decency, the power of gentle words and a beautiful heart. I will miss him desperately but so happy he and my Grandmother are back together.”

The second post is a touching cartoon drawn by Marshall Ramsey that depicts Bush Sr. reuniting with his wife and their daughter, Robin, who passed away of leukemia at age 3. It shows Bush Sr. flying a TBM Avenger, the same plane he flew in the Navy in World War II, into the heavenly clouds. The cartoon is a follow-up to the viral one Ramsey first drew for Barbara’s death in April.

The sweet cartoon got the attention of Jenna, who wrote, “this brought me such comfort this morning”—and it prompted her to share a recent conversation she once had with her late grandfather. As she wrote in the caption, “I had the opportunity to speak with my grandpa about the afterlife. This is what he said: He answered without any hesitation. “Yes, I think about it. I used to be afraid. I used to be scared of dying. I used to worry about death. But now in some ways I look forward to it.” And I started crying. I managed to choke out, “Well, why? What do you look forward to?” And he said, “Well, when I die, I’m going to be reunited with these people that I’ve lost.”

“And I asked who he hoped to see. He replied, I hope I see Robin, and I hope I see my mom. I haven’t yet figured it out if it will be Robin as the three year old that she was, this kind of chubby, vivacious child or if she’ll come as a middle-aged woman, an older woman. And then he said, ‘I hope she’s the three-year-old.’”

“Robin was the daughter this giant of a man lost years before to leukemia,” Jenna said. “The little girl he held tightly: who spoke the phrase I have heard Gampy repeat for my entire life, forever knitting Robin’s voice into the tightly woven fabric of our family: ‘I love you more than tongue can tell.'”

The Notorious RBG Got the Epic Rap Tribute She Deserves on 'SNL'

The Notorious RBG—that’s Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, of course—sent the world into a panic spiral after fracturing three ribs last week. Luckily, the 85-year-old is reportedly back in action and working from home like the boss she is—and on Saturday, SNL decided to pay tribute to her tenacity, releasing an epic rap parody that celebrates all the reasons why she’s known as the Notorious RBG.

The skit features SNL cast members Pete Davidson and Chris Redd rapping about the judge to the tune of rapper Sheck Wes’ “Live Sheck Wes.” As they bust out rhymes about RBG’s career and accomplishments, cast member Kate McKinnon comes out and reprises her hilarious version of the Supreme Court icon.

“You know there’s only like one lady holding the whole damn thing together, right?” Davidson says at the beginning of the sketch.

“You think some broken ribs are gonna keep her down? Hell naw and hell naw,” Jedd adds before the diving into the rest of the song, which covers RBG’s work for women’s rights and stance against Trump.

“Tell Trump to stay out her way/Don’t fuck with my Roe v. Wade/ Supreme Court’s a boys club, she holds it down, no cares given/Who else got six movies about ’em who’s still livin’?” the rap goes before hitting a chorus of “Live Ginsburg, and I ride for Ginsburg.”

Meanwhile, McKinnon shows off her muscles—a nod to the epic workout routine Ginsburg revealed to Stephen Colbert—and even gives us a glimpse of a Brooklyn tattoo over her six-pack.

There’s also some truly incredible break-dancing and a scene with McKinnon downing some barbecue (“Survived the Depression and Twitter attacks from Trump/Broken ribs can’t even stop her, boy she eats that shit for lunch!”).

Saturday Night Live - Season 44

It’s a tribute fit for the baddest lady of the nation’s highest court, who has said that she plans on carrying out her appointment until she’s 90. Twitter has promised to protect her at all costs, and now SNL is backing her up—so it doesn’t sounds like we need to worry about the Notorious RBG going anywhere anytime soon.
