Kaia Gerber Gave Herself a Tattoo in Quarantine

I’ve been obsessed with Marc Jacobs’ Daisy campaigns since the day the perfume launched. In high school, my walls were plastered with the ads torn out of magazines. I wore the fragrance religiously, and to this day, the hazy, dreamy commercials transport me to a fantasy world. So naturally, I was thrilled to chat with Kaia Gerber, who has starred in the past few campaigns, only to discover she feels the exact same.

“Every time I get to go back and work with Marc, it just feels like a family,” says the 18-year-old model. “I feel so grateful to work with people who are so lovely. They create such a warm, loving environment, which I think you can really see in the campaign. All that laughter, and when we’re running through the field, we’re actually having an incredible time.”

We could all use a bit of that warm feeling and escapism right now, including Gerber, who’s currently self isolating at home in L.A. She might be a supermodel—and the progeny of one; her mom is Cindy Crawford!—but when it comes to quarantine beauty temptations, she’s just like the rest of us. Currently, she’s debating a major haircut, a new tattoo, and a DIY mani. Like I said, relatable. Ahead, she answers all of Glamour’s Big Beauty Questions, including her beauty must-haves, biggest inspirations, and how she’s keeping calm in quarantine.

How does wearing Daisy make you feel?

It’s a super feminine, youthful scent. It just brings me back since I’ve been wearing it since I was 12 or 13. It’s a very comforting smell.

Has your self-care routine changed at all while we’ve been stuck in isolation?

I’ve had more time to do self-care, which I’ve been trying to take advantage of. I’ve been wearing less makeup and taking more time to make sure my skin is good. I think eating healthy, cooking, and drinking a lot of water has been really good for it. A lot of times I fill up on junk food—when you’re working, it’s hard to monitor what you’re putting in your body. Focusing on my internal health really has helped with my skin.

Are you loving any certain nail colors right now? Have you tried anything fun while we’re in quarantine?

Orlando Bloom's New Tattoo of His Son's Name Is Spelled Wrong

Orlando Bloom, fiancé of Katy Perry and the sexiest pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (don’t argue, that’s a fact), seems to have had a bit of a misstep at the tattoo parlor.

Bloom, who co-parents his 9-year-old child Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, took to Instagram to share his new tattoo: a sweet ode to his son. But then fans noticed something was off. The very cool, hella trendy tat by artist Balazs Bercsenyi is supposed to spell out his son’s name in morse code, but it…doesn’t. Before we get into what went wrong, I have some questions. What’s with this morse code renaissance? Is Bloom a member of the #BongHive? The power that Parasite has…

Anyway, back to the ink in question. On February 12, Bloom shared an artsy black-and-white shot of the sleek line tattoo with the caption, “new #tattoo can you guess who?”

If you guess “Frynn,” you’re probably good at reading morse code, like some of Bloom’s fans on the ‘gram. “If the morse code is supposed to spell out Flynn then there is a mistake,” one commenter wrote. Apparently, there’s a crucial dot missing. Who else is getting major flashbacks to the time Ariana Grande accidentally got “BBQ grill” tattooed on her palm in Japanese? Fixing that error required a removal procedure, even more ink, and some lidocaine shots for the pain. Ouch.

Fortunately, Orlando Bloom and Balazs Bercsenyi are well aware of the mistake and are going to fix it. Even better, unlike Grande’s mishap, it seems Bloom’s typo will take only a small amount of effort to rectify. “A beautiful reminder for @orlandobloom of his son,” Bercsenyi wrote in his own caption of the same picture. “Yes, a dot is missing, we know, it will be fixed :).”

All’s well that ends well, I guess. In the immortal words of that one guy’s chest tattoo in We’re the Millers, “NO RAGRETS.”

Demi Lovato Just Got Her Most Personal Tattoo Yet

Demi Lovato‘s had an amazing year so far. After taking some off to seek treatment following her 2018 overdose, she returned to the spotlight recently to perform new music at the Grammys and sing a powerful rendition of the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl.

So, how does one mark such a pivotal moment in life? With a tattoo, of course. Lovato returned to social media after a brief hiatus to show off her latest ink and explain its special significance. “I recently went dark on social media in preparation for my Grammy and Super Bowl performances but while I was off socials I got this incredibly meaningful tattoo done by @alessandro_capozzi,” she wrote on Instagram. “Getting tatted by him was an experience I’ve never had before.. no idea what I was going to get done, I told him about my life and where I was at in that moment and we created a combination on images that best symbolized the spiritual awakening I was having.”

She then went on to describe the design on her upper back, just below her neck, which you can see in the photos.

“Having a fallen angel being lifted by 3, pure, angelic doves (the Holy trinity) as her inner light is being guided by a higher consciousness, and the disintegration of her dark wings was representing the darkness I was shedding,” Lovato continued. “Alessandro – you are extremely talented and I can’t wait for more!! Thank you for this special experience.. the only bummer is I can’t physically see this amazing artwork because it’s on my back! Haha. Also shout out to @scooterbraun for introducing us! ??? ps. I still can’t believe how life like this looks and it healed amazing as well ??????”

She’s right—the tattoo does look incredibly life-like. Let’s hope Demi Lovato only continues to rise like the angel on her back.

Selena Gomez Unveils Tattoo Commemorating Her Kidney Transplant Surgery

Selena Gomez continues to be an inspiration when it comes to significant tattoos, and her latest ink adventure is no exception.

Upon the release of her new album Rare, the singer shared some BTS pics from the title track’s music video. In one shot, you can make out a series of numbers on the back of the singer-songwriter’s upper right arm, seemingly signifying a date in June 2017. As noted by Page Six, the tat represents the date that Gomez had kidney transplant surgery in order to treat the lupus that she was battling at the time.

In a December 2019 interview with Capital FM, the singer confirmed the meaning behind her arm tattoo, revealing that she got the ink along with her good friend, Francia Raisa, who served as the kidney donor for her surgery.

Gomez and Raisa have been open about the process of undergoing surgery together, with both stars speaking candidly about the challenges and ultimate positive outcome of the experience. “I just really hope that we can help somebody,” the 27-year-old said in an October 2017 Today interview. “I don’t think what we went through was easy, I don’t think it was fun. I just hope this inspires people to feel good and to know that there are really good people in the world.”

Given that, it makes sense for Gomez and Francia to want to commemorate their surgery in a permanent way—especially since the singer has a host of other significant tats. She has matching “#1” tattoos with BFF Courtney Barry, along with coordinating arrows with bestie and collaborator, Julia Michaels. She even has matching semicolon tattoos with some of the 13 Reasons Why cast members as a nod to Project Semicolon, an organization dedicated to the prevention of suicide.

Demi Lovato Unveiled a Brand New Neck Tattoo

Merely a week after debuting her brand new neck tattoo, Demi Lovato is back with fresh ink—but this time the placement is a bit more subtle.

Located on the back of her neck, Demi got a new piece by renowned tattoo artist Alessandro Capozzi. The piece is a stunning micro realist rendition (meaning a tiny yet super detailed portrait) of the “Divine Feminine.” The duo decided to represent the concept with a winged female figure clad in loosely draped clothing and she’s being carried up by three white doves.

“We created this piece together to represent a rebirth of the spirit,” Alessandro explained of Demi’s new ink in his post. “The dark wings represent the bad times, their fading away is how she moved forward. The light from within represents the inner strength necessary for the change and the doves, pulling her up, symbolize the reach of [a] higher state of consciousness. Congratulations on your inspiring journey Demi, honored to have represented this for you.”

Apart from the super-detailed finished result, Alessandro also shared a behind-the-scenes look at Demi actually getting tattooed in his L.A. studio — which was no small feat. According to TMZ, Demi got tatted on Monday, Dec. 23, from noon until 8 P.M.—meaning the singer spent a total of eight hours at the parlor. Sure, we need to take breaks into account and all that, but Demi looks unbothered in Alessandro’s snap. We all know the singer is no stranger to tattoos so it’s no wonder she sat through it like a total champ.

Pain aside, Demi seems to be over the moon with her new ink. “Thank you so much ?? it’s incredible and you are so extremely talented ??,” she commented on Alessandro’s post. Apart from the thank you message, Demi herself has not weighed in on the meaning behind any of her latest tattoos and it’s unlikely she will. Per her latest Instagram post (dated Dec. 5), the next time we hear from her, she’ll be singing.

Until then, check out the singer’s new ink below.

Selena Gomez Got a Brand-New Thigh Tattoo

Selena Gomez had a big night at the 2019 American Music Awards. The “Lose You to Love Me” star performed her two new songs live, stunned on the red carpet, and also made sure to immortalize the night on social media, where she proudly displayed a brand-new tattoo.

On November 24, Gomez posted a collage of Polaroid “getting ready” pics, and the collage featured a glimpse at Gomez’s new body art: a tattoo of praying hands with a rosary, inked on her thigh. Sel’s new ink was covered up by her red carpet dress and performance outfits, so if she hadn’t posted the Polaroids, we’d have no idea that she added another tattoo to her collection.

Gomez now has more than 10 tattoos (that we know of). Though most of them are relatively small and delicate, this new piece is much larger and more impactful. According to her Instagram, it was done by the artists at Bang Bang NYC, a tattoo shop known for its celebrity clientele and detailed art.

Gomez and Julia Michaels recently got matching arrow tattoos as well, but those were courtesy of London’s The Black Lantern tattoo studio. Gomez has also gotten matching tattoos with her BFFs (a number four) and the cast of 13 Reasons Why (a semicolon).

It looks as though tattoos are meaningful to Gomez, used to mark life changes and significant relationships, and since we know her faith is very important to her, the praying hands tattoo seems like something she will cherish for years to come.

Selena Gomez had quite the night at yesterday’s American Music Awards, performing her hit songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” She performed the former song with a black-and-white set before bursting into technicolor for the second. “Lose You to Love Me” became Gomez’s first number-one on Billboard’s Hot 100 a few weeks back.
