There's a 'This Is Us' Special Before Season 3 Premieres, So Get Your Tissues Ready

If it’s been a while since you’ve had a cathartic cry, then you’re in luck: season three of This Is Us premieres on NBC next month. Still too far away for you? Get this: The network will be airing a primetime special on September 18 to celebrate everything we know and love about the show.

Per Deadline, the special, titled The Paley Center Salutes This Is Us, will be an hour long and will “usher in the new season with clips, interviews with the stars and creators,” as well as present a “behind-the-scenes look at how the series comes together each week.” You can also expect to see most of the show’s stars—including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, and Chrissy Metz—talking about their experiences on the show in never-before-seen interviews.

“Upon its 2016 premiere, This Is Us captured the hearts of viewers and immediately took its place as one of television’s most beloved dramas,” the Paley Center’s president and CEO said in a statement. “We are proud to once again partner with our friends at NBC for this very special look at the trials and triumphs of the Pearson family before the series returns for its highly anticipated third season.”

Besides the September 25 premiere date for This Is Us‘s third season, NBC has been remaining coy about what to expect when the next chapter of the Peasons’ lives begins. The big things we do know, however, are the following: It’s going to be the most “ambitious” season yet, the Vietnam War is going to be an integral part of many character developments, Kevin and Zoe’s relationship will be a central story, and the aftermath of Jack’s death will be fully explored.

Translation? Kleenex for all.

Sephora Is Giving Away Free Face Masks, and There's No Catch

It’s hard to remember, but it really wasn’t all that long ago that Sephora sales were a rare thing. Before the retailer kicked off its Weekly Wow series featuring regular 50%-off discounts, you had to rummage through pages of sales sections or drop cash so you could trade in VIB points. Still, the words free and Sephora are rarely heard in the same sentence, with the exception of free samples. But even those tiny packets of product require spending money on something in order to add them to cart. That’s why its latest deal is pretty much unheard of for the beauty emporium: For one weekend only, Sephora is giving out free face masks. And nope, there’s not a single catch or fine print.

Where most freebies come with a gift with purchase or buy one, get one stipulations, Glamour confirmed with brand reps that all you have to do is get yourself to a Sephora store this weekend (July 27 through July 29) to get a free, regular-sized Rose or Pearl face mask from the retailer’s in-house line, Sephora Collection. Yes, summer Friday counts as the weekend because Sephora really does get us.

The only challenge—beside peeling yourself off the couch in the dead of summer—is that the lines will no doubt be absurd. When MAC announced it was giving away free lipstick for National Lipstick Day this time last year, Twitter erupted with photos of long waits and stories of supplies being gone in minutes. It’s unclear exactly how limited the quantities will be for Sephora’s Free Face Mask Weekend, but given that the deal is running for a whole 72 hours, it’s likely they’ll be more prepared for the demand.

If you haven’t yet tried Sephora Collection’s face masks and are wondering if braving the crowds are worth it to walk away only $6 in the green, consider this: they regularly pop up on beauty pros’ must lists thanks to the effective-yet-affordable serums they’re soaked in. They won’t give you the instant results of, say, one of GlamGlow’s best-sellers, but for cheap sheet masks, they really get the job done. I like to leave the aloe one in the fridge on days my skin is in need of some quick soothing (a game-changer after getting hella sunburned on a recent trip to Hawaii), while the fruit enzymes in the Pineapple mask are super gentle and help exfoliate without zapping your skin dry.

Then again, I once stood in a two-hour line on Black Friday at 3 A.M. to get the full DVD set of Sex and the City for $60, so maybe I’m a terrible judge of a good deal. I’ll let you make that call. So just in case you’d rather skip the wait and shop online (or want to pick up a few extra masks in addition to the Rose or Pearl freebie if you do hit up the store), here are a few of our favorites worth nabbing.

There's a Type of Therapy Where You Walk with Your Therapist, and It Works

When Megan Treby, 41, an art teacher who lives near Washington, D.C., first started seeing her therapist, Jen Udler of Positive Strides Therapy for her anxiety, Udler suggested that the two of them might conduct their sessions while taking walks to help release excess energy. Udler specializes in a type of therapy called “movement therapy” (in other words, walking while talking) that she thought might be helpful for Treby. The pair began meeting for sessions on a walking trail in Fallsgrove Park in Rockville, Maryland. During their sessions, Udler didn’t take notes. It wasn’t even completely private—they were in a public space, after all. But the benefits of walking side-by-side instead of sitting face-to-face are pretty profound: it really seems to make talking about difficult issues easier for people.

There’s actually research to back this type of therapy up—one study found that people with anxious tendencies felt more pleasantly about another person they were interacting with if they weren’t making eye contact. Treby noticed this effect, and also that moving through her surroundings on her walks with Udler gave them fodder for their sessions. The two walked on a path with dashed white lines, which Udler used as a metaphor for breaking up tasks little by little on the road to transformation. Over time, Treby started to her Udler’s voice in her head. Megan: think of something else. Megan: identify what you’re afraid of. Megan: is that reality or is that the anxiety talking?

Physical movement has traditionally been seen as something done outside of and in addition to talk therapy. But combining them is proving to work way better for some people. “When I have clients that prefer to sit in an office, they take a longer time to make progress,” says Clay Cockrell, a movement therapy practitioner and founder of Walk and Talk Therapy in New York City. Progress, according to Cockrell, means developing problem-solving tools and learning to make different choices outside the patterns that a patient is trying to break. “[With therapy,] there’s this very stereotypical image of Freud and a couch in people’s minds, which many find intimidating and not at all appealing,” says Amanda Stemen, a clinical social worker based in Los Angeles. “We need to broaden the understanding of what therapy actually is and all the methods in which healing and growth can occur.”

Angela*, 55, used the walk-and-talk method to get through her sadness and feelings of depression after her sons left for college. Her walking sessions were often four miles long. “It’s good to not lock in because you’re missing someone,” she says.

The addition of movement also allows therapists to observe breath, pace, gait, and posture and incorporate that information as part of their therapeutic process. For example, Stemen might notice a client walking heavily and ask them about it. “There’s usually a parallel between what they’re doing physically between how they operate their emotional life,” says Stemen.

It’s not that walking alone has some magic power to evaporate anxiety or remove sadness. Walking and talking with a counselor is just a new way of approaching mental health goals, and it can be especially for people who have had trouble finding therapy styles that work for them in the past. Through movement therapy, “I was able to see that my thoughts were just automatic negative thoughts and a product of my anxiety —not truths,” says Treby. “The simple act of walking forward literally made my mind move forward.”

Lili Reinhart on Season Two of 'Riverdale': There's Challenging Times Ahead for Betty Cooper

Riverdale‘s mid-season finale left more questions than answers, especially now that we know Svenson may not be the Black Hood after all. Lili Reinhart told us the situation is far from being resolved, and she has every reason to believe the murderer is still at large. “Things don’t feel right…like, there’s still some deep, dark, unspoken mystery going on,” she explains.

And if the Black Hood mystery isn’t enough to deal with, there’s plenty of other drama brewing in Riverdale. Betty and Jughead—and Archie and Veronica—are still in relationship limbo, Josie has a stalker, Cheryl’s obsessed, and who knows what’s up with the Lodges. There’s also the upcoming birth of Polly’s baby and the arrival of Betty’s brother, Chic.

When the show returns on January 17, the good news is that there won’t be much of a time jump. “It’s just after Christmas break,” Reinhart says. “It’s not two months or anything like that. It’s just two weeks [that have passed].” The arrival of Betty’s brother will also bring the topic of Betty’s mental health back into conversation. “You definitely see that a lot more in the second half of the season,” Reinhart says. “When Betty digs her nails into her hands, it’s kind of when things are happening with her family. That’s her trigger, whether it be her mother, her brother, or Polly. I think that’s something to keep in mind.” Also, with the introduction of her brother, “she’s very curious to see if he has that darkness inside him as well. There might be some sister/brother bonding over mental health issues.”

That darkness isn’t just internal, either. Reinhart doesn’t say whether Betty will don her black wig again, but her makeup does get little darker and her overall look will be “a little more made up.”

And if Betty didn’t have enough going on in her life, it looks like her friendship with Veronica will also be put in jeopardy. “I think that concept is challenged in the second half,” she says. While one would think it’s because Veronica might find out that Archie and Betty kissed, Reinhart indicates that it goes way beyond that. “Not to give too much away, but I think there is definitely challenges to come in Betty and Veronica’s friendship, and it’s a result of their parents, to be honest,” she says. “It’s like, how do they navigate their friendship with the parents that they have? And if their parents are at war, does that mean the kids are at war? That becomes very, very heavy in the latter half. The concept of Betty and Veronica putting each other first does become challenged.”

There's a Powerful Hidden Message on Time's' 2017 Person of the Year Cover

You’ve probably seen this year’s cover of Time honoring their person of the year—or, as is the case for 2017, the people who earned this award. Women like Taylor Swift, Susan Fowler, Adama Iwu, Ashley Judd, and Isabel Pascual all among those who make up “The Silence Breakers,” the people who stood up to sexual predators and are now being recognized for “giving voice to open secrets, for moving whisper networks onto social networks, for pushing us all to stop accepting the unacceptable.”

But upon closer review of the cover image, you might have missed an elbow in the bottom right corner that doesn’t belong to any of the women pictured. And as Time national correspondent Charlotte Alter told BuzzFeed News on Wednesday, this was a deliberate—and meaningful—artistic choice: It represents the women who shared their stories anonymously.

“In the bottom left of the cover, there is an arm where you just see the elbow and you don’t see the person,” Alter said. “That’s very intentional. That’s an anonymous woman who is a hospital worker who was experiencing harassment and didn’t feel that she could come forward [publicly].”

As Alter explained, Time wanted to acknowledge that sexual misconduct spreads well beyond Hollywood and impacts women from all walks of life. She pointed to Isabel Pascual, a strawberry farmer who spoke out about the sexual harassment she faced in her job and noted that she shared her story under a pseudonym because she was afraid of retaliation.

“A huge part of this story is that, as much as the stigma around this has been removed this year because of the Me Too movement, it’s still really difficult for a lot of women to come forward,” Alter continued. “It’s important to include people who have to stay anonymous for professional reasons, who don’t have the resources to weather what would happen if they lost their job or they couldn’t support their families. So we wanted to include [these people] to really reference the risk that these women are taking by speaking out about this.”

Kim Kardashian's Fragrance Sold Out in Days, But There's Still a Way to Buy It

It hasn’t even been a week since Kim Kardashian dropped her KKW Beauty fragrances, and already the entire line is sold out. But all hope isn’t lost for those of us who still want to smell like a Kardashian. In what may be a Thanksgiving miracle, the full collection is coming back…very soon.

Because of the fragrance collection’s overwhelming success (and because Kris Jenner and Kardashian are undeniably brilliant businesswomen), the KKW Beauty team has decided to launch a restock of all three fragrances. They’re coming back online on Thursday, November 23, at 6 P.M. PST—yes, as in tomorrow.

The collection featured three gardenia-scented fragrances—Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus, and Crystal Gardenia Oud—and was originally slated as a limited-edition collection. Considering this is a Kardashian brand we’re talking about, it didn’t last long at the hands of eager shoppers across the internet. The initial 300,000 units that were available for sale sold out in six days, which is actually an eternity in Kardashian time, considering Kim’s first product, her KKW Beauty Contour and Highlight Kits, sold out in a lightning speed to 2.5 hours.

That’s not to say the perfume wasn’t a serious hit, though: In its first day on the market, it brought in $10 million worth of sales, even though people were buying the products without even knowing what they smelled like. (Which is hyper feminine and extremely floral, for the record. Most of our editors were honestly impressed with Crystal Gardenia. But to be fair, the ones that did were all floral people.)

The scents retail at $35 for 30-ml and $60 for 75-ml and are all encased in a crystal bottle designed to lay flat—it’s more Instagrammable that way. Kardashian revealed that the crystal-inspired look came from the fact that she leaned on crystals to “find peace” after her robbery in Paris. Developing the scents was a “calm and healing” process for her, and each bottle is meant to evoke the healing powers of different crystals.

So, if you’re still looking for a gift for that friend who lives and dies by her Kimojis (or, no shame, yourself), go ahead and set an alarm now. No one will judge if you have to hit “add to cart” while passing the mashed potatoes tomorrow. Maybe.
