Ariana Grande Dropped a Sequel to 'Thank U, Next' in Honor of Her New Fragrance

When she’s not tearing up the stage on tour, creating new fashion trends, or making us laugh and cry alongside her on social media, Ariana Grande is busy releasing delicious fragrances. She’s got a handful of sweet scents to her name, including Sweet Like Candy, Ari, Moonlight, and Cloud, all named after significant songs, lyrics, or, well, herself. Now a new frag named — what else — Thank U, Next is joining the family, and Ariana pulled out all the stops to promote it: She released a commercial-length sequel to her wildly popular ’00s movie throwback music video for the song of the same name, and we can’t stop LOLing.

The video, which clocks in at a little over a minute, opens with the same Mean Girls-style “I heard …” clips of “students” in a high school setting. “I heard that Ariana has a new perfume,” says her friend Colleen Ballinger, who appeared in the original music video while pregnant and now has a baby strapped to her chest. (Aww!) “I heard she sings to her rose garden every day. They get a private concert,” says another faux-student. “Well, I heard she swam with actual mermaids in the Bermuda Triangle and convinced them to give her the velvety musk of their new sea god,” says yet another. (Musk is a key ingredient in the Thank U, Next fragrance, in case you hadn’t figured that out.) “Rumor has it, she put part of her ponytail in it,” is another LOL-worthy rumor included in the video. We have a feeling she didn’t actually put strands of her hair in the mix, though you do see her snipping off a bit of her iconic style, but you never know!

Ariana doesn’t stop at Mean Girls, either. The Bring It On references are alive and well in the Thank U, Next fragrance commercial, with the Clovers and Toros cheerleaders making appearances. “I heard how she went to space to find the best pears for her little fragrance,” says the Clovers head cheerleader. “She should have just come to Compton.”

“Are you sure it was pear? I heard it was coconut,” says Ariana-as-Torrance Shipman, making her first appearance in the video. She shows up again to throw a little tongue-in-cheek shade at herself, saying, “Honestly, I’m not the biggest Ariana Grande fan, but I do hear the new fragrance is … somewhat promising.” Even her beloved dog Toulouse pops in towards the end. Everyone’s on board for Thank U, Next, and so are we!

Ariana trademarked the phrase “Thank U, Next” back in April, leading fans to believe that “Thank U, Next”-inspired body and beauty products were on the way. They were right! Thank U Next the fragrance is a creamy, juicy blend of white pear, white raspberry, creme de coconut, pink rose petals, and velvet musk, and comes in a sweet-yet-saucy broken heart-shaped bottle. The fragrance retails for $42.00 for 1oz. exclusively at Ulta, who describes it as “Optimistically outspoken. Playful yet cool.” Just like Ariana herself.

Kim Kardashian Cast Real Women for Her New KKW Body Fragrance Campaign

When it comes to promoting her KKW Beauty and Fragrance lines, we’ve become accustomed to seeing Kim Kardashian herself in the ads and social media posts. The bottle for KKW Body was literally molded from its creator’s famously curvy figure.

But the reality star/beauty mogul is taking a different approach with her two latest creations: KKW II and KKW III. To promote the scents, the company has been posting close-up images of real women’s bodies, many of which feature rolls, wrinkles, and cellulite. It’s a stark contrast to the hyper-perfected shots of Kardashian that we’re used to. And that’s not a bad thing.

When Kardashian’s original fragrance bottle came out, people were upset with the unrealistic beauty ideals it portrayed. One body-positive blogger even re-created the campaign to make a point about the “perfect” bodies. “One of these bodies, a large part of our society will deem as ‘perfect,'” read the post’s caption. “My body is empowered by the opportunity to share a different reality. PERFECT: ‘having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.’ Stop striving to be perfect because guess what, you are there!”

It seems like Kardashian got the message loud and clear. She recently spoke to Refinery29 about the casting choices, and how the re-creations floating around on the internet played an important role in the decision.

“I was talking to some friends of mine and I had seen a couple other people re-create the [original KKW Body] campaign and I just thought, You know what? It’s not always about my body,” she explained. “The bottle obviously is my body shape, but I always celebrate and love confident women no matter what shape or size they are.”

She also revealed that many of the women were not professional models, but that they were all confident and excited to participate in the campaign. Her intended message is pretty straight-forward. “Just to be confident within your own skin—I think I’ve always put forth that message,” she said. “In the magazines I would look at, everyone was super tall and skinny and I didn’t feel like I had something that represented my curvier body shape growing up. And so I just wanted to show a campaign that supports women of all different shapes to feel confident within themselves.”

Kardashian’s own experiences with body-shaming definitely played a part in her decisions, as well. “When you do get shot by a paparazzi and you do have cellulite, which you know has definitely happened to me before, it’ll be on the cover of magazines like, ‘Worst Body Of The Week’ and, ‘Look how awful she looks,'” she said. “It’s always so hard on your soul when you see things like that and I see that happen to so many other women and I never thought that was fair. And so to show it in an artistic way just felt beautiful and right and I really wanted to show people that you can be beautiful no matter if you have stretch marks or cellulite.”

Reaction to the campaign has been strong—and mostly positive. One commenter on an Instagram image praised Kardashian’s choices: “I’m loving this campaign. Thank you for spreading the body positivity Kim.” And another said, “I’m very happy that these bodies look like everyday people. Yes queen???”

We’re sure we haven’t seen the last of Kardashian modeling for her own products, but this change is definitely welcome and refreshing. The two new fragrances will be available online November 2 for $60.

Listen to Cara Delevingne Sing About London for Her New Burberry Fragrance Ad

Cara Delevingne is officially a triple threat. She continues to kill it on every runway imaginable (see: Paris this season, where Ashley Benson was in the front row to watch). She’s set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime video series Carnival Row, opposite Orlando Bloom next year. And as the face of Burberry’s new fragrance, Her, which drops today, Delevingne also proves to have a decent set of pipes. She sings a little ditty for the scent’s TV campaign (listen for yourself down below). Talk about talent.

We caught up with the 26-year-old stunner in her hometown of London to chat about her self-love beauty secrets and the tricks that keep her happy and glowing—on the small screen, red carpet, and everywhere in between.

Glamour: What’s your beauty philosophy?

Cara Delevingne: Not to label yourself or care about what other people think. It’s about being confident in who you are, what you wear, and what you look like. That’s easier said than done, but I think it’s something we should live by. And we need to praise each other. By lifting others up, we lift ourselves up.

Glamour: Is there anything that gives you a fast pick-me-up?

CD: When I’ve had a really long day, a fragrance can lift my spirits. Burberry Her reminds me of a happy person, carefree and living life to the fullest. And I always carry a mascara. I like having those really spiky Twiggy lashes that frame your eyes. When you’re tired, people don’t see that, they’re looking at your eyelashes.

Glamour: Any other products you love?

CD: Dior skin care has really made a difference in how tired my skin looks. I’m only 26, but I travel a lot and deal with eye bags. It keeps my skin looking fresh.

Glamour: You do a lot of advocacy work for young women. How would you like to see the definitions of beauty and sexuality change?

CD: Everyone’s idea of themselves, sexuality, femininity, and what it is to be human is different. The more we’re honest with each other, the more we can grow. Through acceptance and communication, we can better understand one another.

Glamour: What is your healthiest habit?

CD: I meditate, and I do yoga as much as I can. I try to do it twice a day, but sometimes I prefer to be sleeping.

Glamour: What’s your least healthy habit?

CD: Being hard on myself. Even if I do something I should be proud of, I automatically disregard it. I get scared about what other people think, and that’s bad. It’s something I’m working to change.

Glamour: How so?

CD: Realizing that the mistakes you make don’t define who you are, and that it’s OK to be angry, to be upset, to not be happy all the time. It’s OK to not smile if you don’t want to smile. It’s about learning to accept yourself.

Plus-Size Activist Re-creates Kim Kardashian KKW Body Fragrance Ads

By now, you’ve likely seen Kim Kardashian‘s newest fragrance drop, KKW Body. The scent, design, and the provocative images that Kim shared to promote it all have sparked an Internet-wide conversation about Kim’s “perfect” body, which she literally had molded to create the perfume’s flacon.

As Yahoo! Lifestyle reports, body-positivity activist and vlogger Carmen Rene, known on Instagram as @eatthecaketoo, decided to recreate Kim’s nude shoot with some images of her own in an effort to change the direction of that dialogue. She posted the photos to Instagram with a powerful message, reiterating that all bodies should be considered “perfect.”

In the photo, which is divided into four quadrants, Carmen included the original campaign image (seen at top left), along with three shots of what is presumably her own figure, mimicking Kim’s pose. Unlike the KKW Body photo seen ’round the world, the recreated images show visible cellulite, rolls, and stretch marks.

“One of these bodies, a large part of our society will deem as ‘perfect,'” read the post’s caption. “My body is empowered by the opportunity to share a different reality. PERFECT: “having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.” Stop striving to be perfect because guess what, you are there! What a beautiful definition ?. Today, at this very moment my body is as good as it possibly can be. I can’t change it today, and tomorrow it may be different, it will still be perfect. There is no body better than the next. There is no one body that is “perfect”. There is your body, unique, worthy, desirable and perfect. All body’s [sic] are good bodies ❤️”

In an interview with E! News, Kim revealed the reason why she decided to bare it all for the fragrance campaign: “Honestly, I spent the last eight to ten months fully working out with my trainer,” she told said. “I swear I’ve never been in better shape than I am now. So, why not, you know?”

While it’s wonderful that Kim, who herself has dealt with her own fair share of body-image struggles in the past, is feeling more confident about herself than ever, it’s also important to note that the standards of beauty she’s helping to set aren’t necessarily realistic for everyone. As Carmen put it, no body is better than any other, and every single one out there is perfect — whether someone’s buying a perfume bottle shaped like it or not.

I Wore a 'Sexy' Fragrance for a Week, and It Actually Changed My Mood

I’ve wanted a signature scent since I was old enough to convince my mom to buy me glitter-filled perfumes from Claire’s. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve graduated to more sophisticated, less sparkly fragrances, but I still love the idea of being immediately identifiable by an amazing smell. After the perfume that I’d been wearing since college was tragically discontinued (there may have been tears), it took a while to find a replacement. I gravitate toward clean, floral scents, so I scoured the shelves of Sephora, going through bottles of Elizabeth and James Nirvana White or Fresh Citron de Vigne, but I still didn’t like anything enough to actually purchase a second bottle. It wasn’t until I unwrapped a bottle of Diptyque Do Son last Hanukkah that I found my new go-to—it’s sweet in a sophisticated way, and it’s what I imagine it smells like to sit inside a very fancy flower shop.

So it was with reluctance that, at the request of the Glamour beauty team, I swapped my Do Son for something totally different. We settled on the heavy, earthy, and slightly tangy Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme. Sure, they share notes of blackberry, but otherwise these two are polar opposites. I agreed to give it a week. On the first day, I picked up the sleek Guilty bottle and sprayed it on my wrists while looking longingly at my trusty Do Son. As I went through the motions of my day, I kept being surprised by my own musky smell. I constantly had to remind myself that those woody notes were coming from me, and no, my sweater didn’t smell like a stranger because someone at the dry cleaner secretly wore it.

Here’s the thing about a signature perfume: When you wear yours enough, it becomes almost a part of you, and you don’t really notice it anymore. So I was hyperaware of this new eau d’Alanna, and it became kind of…exciting. Sporting a new scent was like trying out a new persona: Maybe I was sexy and mysterious. Maybe this new me should also opt for a smoky eye, wear dresses with high slits, and get side bangs. OK, I didn’t get that crazy—the most I did was grill a coworker about her bangs—but it was fun to think about.

At the end of the week, I went back to my Do Son. Familiar as it might be, there’s a reason it’s my signature scent: I absolutely love it. That said, Gucci Guilty has earned a spot on my vanity, to be taken out on special occasions. Because you never know when you might need a bit of help summoning your sexy self.

Kim Kardashian's Fragrance Sold Out in Days, But There's Still a Way to Buy It

It hasn’t even been a week since Kim Kardashian dropped her KKW Beauty fragrances, and already the entire line is sold out. But all hope isn’t lost for those of us who still want to smell like a Kardashian. In what may be a Thanksgiving miracle, the full collection is coming back…very soon.

Because of the fragrance collection’s overwhelming success (and because Kris Jenner and Kardashian are undeniably brilliant businesswomen), the KKW Beauty team has decided to launch a restock of all three fragrances. They’re coming back online on Thursday, November 23, at 6 P.M. PST—yes, as in tomorrow.

The collection featured three gardenia-scented fragrances—Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus, and Crystal Gardenia Oud—and was originally slated as a limited-edition collection. Considering this is a Kardashian brand we’re talking about, it didn’t last long at the hands of eager shoppers across the internet. The initial 300,000 units that were available for sale sold out in six days, which is actually an eternity in Kardashian time, considering Kim’s first product, her KKW Beauty Contour and Highlight Kits, sold out in a lightning speed to 2.5 hours.

That’s not to say the perfume wasn’t a serious hit, though: In its first day on the market, it brought in $10 million worth of sales, even though people were buying the products without even knowing what they smelled like. (Which is hyper feminine and extremely floral, for the record. Most of our editors were honestly impressed with Crystal Gardenia. But to be fair, the ones that did were all floral people.)

The scents retail at $35 for 30-ml and $60 for 75-ml and are all encased in a crystal bottle designed to lay flat—it’s more Instagrammable that way. Kardashian revealed that the crystal-inspired look came from the fact that she leaned on crystals to “find peace” after her robbery in Paris. Developing the scents was a “calm and healing” process for her, and each bottle is meant to evoke the healing powers of different crystals.

So, if you’re still looking for a gift for that friend who lives and dies by her Kimojis (or, no shame, yourself), go ahead and set an alarm now. No one will judge if you have to hit “add to cart” while passing the mashed potatoes tomorrow. Maybe.
