This New Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams Interview Adds Fuel to a Big ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory


When I wake up in the morning, my first thought is, Who’s going to win the Iron Throne on Game of Thrones? OK, that’s an exaggeration, but I am curious, as are the millions of people who watch Game of Thrones. Last week we published a theory positing that it’s Daenerys Targaryen who ends up on the Iron Throne when it’s all said and done. But it’s a new day, and there’s a new theory suggesting that—wait for it—Sansa Stark nabs the throne by the series finale.

The evidence? A new Rolling Stone interview with Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Maisie Williams (Arya). What Turner says and Rolling Stone writes both suggest things turn out well for Sansa in the GoT finale. Read this excerpt, below:

“The things that girl has gone through are just unbelievable and
awful,” [Turner] says. Sansa’s was a slow journey toward mastery of her
environment; she was always smarter than she might have seemed, with
Turner showing us just how acutely she examined her world through
crystalline blue eyes.

This might not seem like much, but pair it with this excerpt in which we learn Turner was so happy with the GoT ending, she hung up the storyboard of the final scene in her house:

She was particularly moved when [showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] presented her with a
storyboard of their favorite Sansa scene, which happened to be her
very last scene of the entire show. Tur­ner already has it hanging at
home; no one’s noticed.

So what in that scene was so exciting it propelled Turner to display it proudly? Winning the Iron Throne, perhaps? At this point, it’s the only explanation that comes to my mind.

Of course, this is all hearsay, but compare it with what Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) said last year about how Game of Thrones ends for her character. “It fucked me up,” she told Vanity Fair. “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is.”

It’s clear from this Clarke is not pleased with Daenerys’ trajectory, which means the Iron Throne probably isn’t in her cards. That leaves it wide open for Sansa Stark, and I hope she claims it.

We’ll find out the answer for sure when Game of Thrones returns Sunday, April 14, at 8:00 P.M. on HBO.

This 'Game of Thrones' Theory Suggests Who the Night King Is Really After


We’re a month out from the beginning of the end—of Game of Thrones, that is. As we all wait (not so patiently) to see how who finally ends up on the Iron Throne, the fan theories are kicking into high gear.

Everyone is speculating about whether or not Sansa and Daenerys will hate each other and if Cersei is really pregnant—but what of the series’ ultimate Big Bad, the Night King? From the trailer, it’s safe to say we’re going to see at least one epic battle with the icy ruler and his White Walkers, but who is he really after? Many assume it’s Jon Snow, and they might be correct. But a new theory on Reddit suggests that Bran Stark, a.k.a. the Three-Eyed Raven, is the Night King’s true target.

Let’s break it down.

The theory stems from an interview that Vladimir Furdik, the actor who plays the Night King, gave to Entertainment Weekly. “People will see he has a target he wants to kill, and you will find out who that is,” he said. “There’s also that moment [in “Hardhome”] when Jon Snow was on the boat and the Night King looked at him and raised his arms — there’s a similar and even stronger moment between Jon and the Night King this time.”

Based on that, the Redditor posits that the target is actually Bran, not Jon. Here’s why: “The NK has had many opportunities to kill Jon. If he was after him that bad, he would have killed him by now! Also, the actor brought up Jon and NK’s stare down in the same sentence as ‘he is after someone’ so HBO wouldn’t let him say those things together because it’s too spoilery. So it can’t be Jon.”

“There’s some show dialogue that tells us that Bran is very important as well. Like Jojen Reed! He tells Bran, ‘only one thing that matters, you!’ So he’s saying that Bran is the only thing that matters. There’s also Benjen. He tells Bran ‘one way or another, he will find his way to the world of men. And when he does, you will be there waiting for him.’ Also, Remember when the NK touched Bran and then the three eyed raven tells Bran, ‘he touched you! He knows your here! He’ll come for you!’ The NK is coming for Bran? I mean that’s telling us everything we need to know right there. So he’s after Bran!”

But, why? Basically, because Bran is the Three-Eyed Raven. But also because it has been noted that the Three-Eyed Raven and the Night King are “ancient enemies.” And this centuries-old beef possibly began with the very first Three-Eyed Raven who may have been the person to build The Wall, keeping the White Walkers at bay for a long time. “So the last hero and the children ban together and create something that can defeat the NK. They gave this man the power he needs to put a stop to the NK,” the Redditor says. “That’s why the NK has tried to stop any three eyed ravens from being trained. That’s why the NK killed Bloodraven and tried to kill Bran. That’s why he is coming after Bran. That’s why the NK and three eyed raven are ancient enemies!”

So the Night King is possibly after Bran because he is the Three-Eyed Raven, and the Night King is always against whoever the new Three-Eyed Raven is because of this ancient feud—but also because the Three-Eyed Raven has the knowledge to stop him.

Phew, that was a lot—but it all does make sense. Of course, this is a show that kills off main characters when you least expect it and is constantly zigging when you think it will zag, so this theory might well be proven false during this final season. Either way, though, can someone just take down that nasty Night King already?

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 12, Episode 17 Recap: Are Sheldon and Amy Ready to Have Kids?


The Big Bang Theory has only seven episodes to go before the show wraps up its 12-year run. While there are a few things I don’t expect to be resolved—Penny’s maiden name, or the elevator being fixed—there are some storylines that have a good chance of happening before we say goodbye: Namely, Amy and Sheldon becoming parents. No, Shamy fans, nothing has been confirmed…yet. But it’s been established on Young Sheldon that they have kids eventually. (In the season-one finale, adult Sheldon says, via narration, that he often drew up relationship contracts for his roommates, his wife, and “even with my own children.”)

And on tonight’s episode of Big Bang—titled “The Conference Valuation”—we see the first big step toward that actually happening. Howard is in charge of the kids, Michael and Halley, while Bernadette is out of town, so Amy uses the opportunity to get Sheldon more comfortable around children. She shows him a book on experiments to do with kids (no way to write that without it sounding weird, right?), which leads to a weekend of fun Sheldon didn’t know was possible before.

The episode seemed like it was setting up a reveal at the end—I thought once Sheldon came around to enjoying the little “scampers,” Amy would announce she’s pregnant. For example, take this exchange while Amy and Sheldon are in bed:

Sheldon: Spending time with Michael and Halley today made me think about our future children….

Amy: [Playing dumb.] What an unforeseen development. What are you thinking?

Sheldon: Well, either five sets of triplets or three sets of quintuplets. [Pauses.] You know what, it doesn’t matter, as long as they’re healthy. And divisible by three.

Amy: That’s a lot of babies, Sheldon.

Sheldon: Well, only for humans. For frogs it’s just a drop in the bucket.

Amy: Sorry I’m not a frog.

Sheldon: Aww, don’t feel bad, Amy, you’re good enough for me.

Instead of an announcement, though, the episode faded to black and the credits rolled. What gives? “An announcement did not happen,” executive producer and showrunner Steve Holland tells Glamour with a laugh. “But we know they do eventually have kids. I can’t answer this exactly, but I will say that having that revealed on Young Sheldon was a big moment for our series. I think it’s part of our journey to end Sheldon in a spot where that future is possible.”

Holland wasn’t able to say anything more than that, though he was a bit more open about his plans for Penny—especially after she turned down what appeared to be a major offer from a rival pharmaceutical company. “I don’t want to tease too much, other than to say this show has always been a positive show about people who love each other,” Holland says. “We want to honor that in the finale. We don’t want to give fans every happy moment they want, but we love these characters and want the best for them.”

For the time being, Holland says he loves to find any reason to group Kaley Cuoco, Mayim Bialik, or Melissa Rauch in a scene together. “Whether it was the Dungeons and Dragons episode, or tonight with Melissa and Kaley at the conference, it’s great. They are so funny together; anytime we can pair them in a scene, we do.” Those scenes were also fulfilling for another reason, as it shows Penny thriving in a career she didn’t envision for herself. “For her to find this job that she’s actually good at and enjoys is important for us,” Holland says. “I like watching her grow in a career that she’s starting to like.”

This ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory Suggests Sansa and Daenerys Will Hate Each Other


The season eight premiere of Game of Thrones is roughly a month away, and fans can’t stop buzzing. Of course, it doesn’t help that HBO keeps dropping new pics and promos every other day. With each update, viewers get a little more excited—and they post about a billion fan theories on the Internet.

The latest one, based on a brand-new pic of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), is particularly interesting. Earlier this week HBO released a new GoT poster featuring Sansa wearing what looks like a scaly, navy-color outfit and sitting on the Iron Throne. This might seem innocuous at first, but remember the house sigil for the House of Tully—Sansa’s mother’s house—is a fish. The House of Tully’s words are family, duty, and honor, so Sansa’s wearing scales implies she has every intention of keeping up those values when she finally meets Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in season eight. And that’s bad news for both Dany and Jon Snow (Kit Harington). If Sansa plans to honor her family in the season ahead, that basically means Daenerys will be enemy number one (among the living, at least)—with Jon right behind her, given that he bent the knee to Dany and pledged the North’s allegiance to her.

Why is that, you ask? Remember, the Targaryens burned Sansa’s grandfather and Uncle Brandon alive. Plus, Rhaegar Targaryen “kidnapped” Jon’s mother, Lyanna Stark (Ned’s sister and Sansa’s aunt), which is what started the last war in the kingdoms. So, in other words, the Targareyens have done some serious damage to the North—Sansa’s territory.

People in the North haven’t forgotten about what the Targareyens did to them, and Sansa certainly hasn’t. In season seven she reminded Jon of all the damage they caused, and the other Northern Lords cheered her on. Sansa clearly has an ax to grind, and this new photo suggests she’ll have no problem grinding it when she and Daenerys finally meet face-to-face.

And here I was hoping these two would be best friends. We’ll find out everything for sure when Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 14, on HBO.

This *Game of Thrones* Theory Suggests Arya Didn't Actually Kill Littlefinger


One of the most talked-about moments from Game of Thrones season seven was when Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) murdered Petyr Baelish, a.k.a Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), in front of literally everyone. It was a long time coming for fans, who had been waiting to see Littlefinger pay for all the scheming he’s done in Winterfell. I mean, right before Arya slit his throat, Sansa casually reminded him that he betrayed both her and her mother. He was a bad apple, simply put, and fans weren’t sad to see him go.

But what if Littlefinger isn’t actually dead? That’s what a YouTuber who goes by Neo suggests in this recently-unearthed fan theory. Neo posits Littlefinger paid one of the Faceless Men of Braavos to die in his place so he could GTFO. Of course, Game of Thrones fans know the Faceless Men have the shape-shifting abilities to easily pull this off—and Neo has evidence to back his theory.

Think back to the fifth episode of season seven, for instance, when Littlefinger is talking in hushed tones to an unfamiliar woman. Neo believes this woman told Littlefinger his “time is up,” effectively tipping him off that Winterfell wanted him dead. We then see Littlefinger drop a coin in her hand—the same coin, Neo suggests, that Arya used to pay a Braavos in an earlier season. Ultimately, Neo concludes this woman was a Faceless Man sent to kill Arya—but Littlefinger intervened with the coin and instructed said Faceless Man to die in his place. Make sense? For what it’s worth, many fans seem to think Littlefinger is alive too:

Obviously, Neo’s theory has its problems. For one, we’ve never seen a Faceless Man use their abilities to die in someone’s place. Also, bringing back such an abhorrent character might anger the fandom. Game of Thrones has pulled more shocking stunts, though. At the very least, this is interesting fodder to keep us occupied until the show returns April 14 on HBO.

This *You* Theory Is Great News For People Who Love Peach


Warning: You spoilers ahead.

Peach Salinger (played by Shay Mitchell) was one of the most polarizing characters from the first season of Netflix’s You. Some hated her. Others loved her. I, for one, am a proud member of the latter group. Peach was a true icon who had snappy one-liners, great hair, and, most importantly, knew Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) was a creep before everyone else did.

Notice how I’m using “was” to describe Peach, though. If you recall, Joe attempted to kill Peach once in Central Park, and he ultimately accomplished this in episode six at her Connecticut country house. Or so we think. A You fan named Hayley took to Twitter this week and posed the impossible: that Peach is very much alive.

Well, it’s not that impossible when you consider how we don’t actually see Peach’s dead body and that Joe just shoots her and runs away. It’s possible her gun wound wasn’t fatal!

But the real evidence to support this idea is a detail you might’ve missed from episode six. Remember Peach and Beck’s college friend named Raj (Gerrard Lobo) who stops by the Connecticut house? He hooks up with Peach and presumably stays over, but we never see him leave the next day. If Raj is still in the house, then, it’s not far-fetched to think he heard Joe shoot Peach and called for help.

“The biggest [mystery] is that [Peach] asked her guy friend how medical school was going… but we never saw him leave the house. We saw Beck leave.. So, he must have been inside… Thus, he heard the gunshot,” Hayley writes in her theory. She also points out that Raj is a medical student and could’ve easily helped Peach himself.

Of course, the biggest rebuttal to this theory is the private detective who’s literally investigating what happened to Peach. However, You has so many twist and turns that it’s best not to rule anything out. Until season two starts and gives us concrete answers, I’m riding high on this #JusticeForPeach train.
