Olivia Wilde's Childbirth Story Is Honestly the Craziest Thing We've Heard Today

Most moms would tell you that they can remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they went into labor. What’s unusual is, say, if they were breaking it down at a concert when their little one decided it was time to enter the world—but that’s exactly what happened with Olivia Wilde. Just four years ago, she and her partner, Jason Sudeikis, had their first child, Otis Alexander Sudeikis. And in honor of Otis’ fourth birthday, Wilde shared the crazy story of her son’s birth.

The A Vigilante actress shared a photo of her son on Saturday wearing a crown and posing with a birthday cupcake. Wilde’s caption reveals that she was at a Jon Batiste concert at a venue in New York City four years ago when her water broke. She wasn’t in a rush, however: Wilde stayed until the end of the concert before heading to the hospital to give birth to her baby boy.

“4 years ago today we were at a @jonbatiste concert at Webster Hall in Manhattan, and this little one decided he wanted to come out and join the dance party,” Wilde wrote in her Insta caption. “My water broke somewhere up on the balcony. So next time you’re there, think of us. ?. (We obviously stayed til the end of the show. Cuz that’s how we do.) Happy birthday, Otis!!!”

Back to the present: It looks like the family went to Disneyland to celebrate Otis’ fourth birthday. (Or, as Wilde named it, “Mousechella.”)

Weirdly enough, Wilde and Sudeikis almost had their second child, Daisy Josephine, at a concert as well: In October 2016 the couple was on their way to a Beyoncé concert when the actress started experiencing contractions. This time, they skipped the concert and headed to the hospital. Daisy didn’t arrive that night—the contractions wound up stopping—but a few days later, they welcomed their baby girl.

Don’t know about you, but these are some of the Wildest going-into-labor stories we’ve heard.

The 'Scandal' Finale Gave Olivia Pope the Ending She Was Always Destined For

When Scandal first premiered six years ago, it was clear right away we were in for a fun ride. After all, the series came from the brain of Shonda Rhimes. Then there was the show’s amazing star, Kerry Washington—the first Black female lead on network TV in almost 40 years. Washington’s Olivia Pope led a team of Washington D.C. fixers who never met a, well, scandal they couldn’t make disappear. Oh, and a plot that involved a murder (RIP Amanda Tanner) with all roads leading to the White House, which happened to be occupied by Pope’s on-and-off, but very married boyfriend and President of the United States. Still, none of us could have fathomed just how wild it would get.

It’s why, over the years, the show lost its way from time to time. The storyline with Olivia’s mom was a cool twist at first, until it became too convoluted. Or that time Liv beat a man with a chair. And the entire B613 plot took on way too much weight and didn’t always make a lot of sense, even on a show where suspension of disbelief was the price of entry.

But by the final season, the show found its way back to its original DNA as—spoilers ahead—the gang worked together to take down the biggest bad of all and save themselves from a life in jail in the process. As the series came to a close, we knew not everyone would make it out alive—that David Rosen scene was rough—and that Fitz and Olivia were the romantic end game all along. But given the twists and turns that Scandal has always been famous for, it was incredibly unclear where Shonda would eventually leave us.

Turns out, it was a pretty satisfying place. While it took place in D.C., Scandal was never really a show about politics like, say, The West Wing. But when the series did hit on issues, it was often in the service of some wish fulfillment. That was all too clear in the series finale as the first female President Mellie Grant, a Republican, signs gun control legislation. Or when the press helps take down a corrupt faction of the American government.

Best of all, though, was the ending crafted for our (sometimes) heroine. Strutting down a D.C. sidewalk in her signature white trench coat, we see the Olivia Pope we first fell in love with. She has an exchange with Fitz that, if I’m being honest, would have been a satisfying ending—but Olivia is so much more than her relationship, which brings me to that final scene.

PHOTO: Giovanni Rufino

Earlier in the episode, Mellie asked Olivia what she’s going to do next. Her reply: “Whatever I want.” Then, in the show’s final moments, we get a very big hint about what that might be. The scene depicts two young girls of color (one of whom is Rhimes’ real-life daughter, Harper) holding hands as they walking through the National Portrait Gallery. Eventually, the camera turns to the painting they’ve been waiting to see: Olivia Pope. The piece of art shows Olivia in a powerful stance, her hair natural and curly, with the words “We the People” clearly visible. It calls to mind the viral image of the little girl staring up in awe at Michelle Obama’s portrait in a very emotional way.

My read: It’s a flash-forward, and Olivia obviously has become POTUS herself at some point. Don’t expect an answer from Rhimes any time soon, though. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rhimes and producers have no immediate plans of discussing how the series ended and intentionally wanted to leave the audience to determine the show’s ultimate takeaway about politics in D.C.

I’m still convinced. It’s only fitting that the woman who got two other presidents elected—one of them a woman—has finally, truly taken control of the Oval Office herself. Hail to the chief, President Pope.

Olivia Munn Just Cleared Up Rumors She's Dating Chris Pratt in the Nicest Way

Breakups can be the worst—even if you’re a celeb with what sometimes seems to be endless access to rejuvenating beach vacations and relaxing spa treatments. (We normals have to make do with Two-Buck Chuck and a jade facial roller, but life, you know?) What definitely isn’t on celebrities’ sides during these times of trial and tribulation is the very energetic tabloid press, which loves a good story—even when it sometimes doesn’t check out. Such was the case with Olivia Munn, Anna Faris, and Chris Pratt, the love triangle that never was.

When Pratt filed for divorce in December after months of separation, we all knew the ol’ rumor mill had already been warming up. After some tabloids reported at the beginning of January that Munn and Pratt were “secretly dating” and that Faris was “furious” about it (which, can you even “secretly date” in Hollywood?), Munn took it upon herself to reach out to Faris and clear the air. What follows—thanks to Munn’s Instagram story Saturday evening—is a master class in sisterhood and emoji use.

“Hello!” she posted, the first of a series of story slides. “1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup. 2. Not every woman is “furious” at another woman for dating her ex. 3. So even if I was dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong. 4. Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think. 5. Chris and I would have a horrible celebrity name.”

Here she gifts us with the options: “Crolivia. Prunn. Chrisivia. Olipratt.”

And Munn has receipts to prove it. The next picture is a text conversation between Munn and Faris that is beyond delightful.

“Hey there!” Munn texted. “Sooo… I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth. I’m not sure you already know it’s not true, or maybe didn’t care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it’s not true. Anyway, I hope you had an amazing holiday and an even better 2018 ???✨??”

Faris responded in kind—and didn’t live any read receipts lingering for long, judging by the lack of timestamp between the two messages.

“Hi!!!!,” she texted back. “Oh my god-this town is so fucking crazy-you are so sweet to text-I love you-having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled ?????-let’s please catch up soon”

If “?????” is code for “female solidarity is literally the best,” we’re here for it.

Olivia Munn Calls for 'Foundational, Systemic Changes' to Put an End to Sexual Assault and Abuses of Power

Last month, among the sexual misconduct allegations that flooded the news after Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s own alleged history of sexual abuse came out, Olivia Munn joined several other women in accusing producer Brett Ratner of sexual assault and harassment. Olivia told the Los Angeles Times that Ratner, after allegedly masturbating in front of her on a film set in the early 2000s, continued to harass her and started spreading rumors that they had consensually slept together. Of her decision to finally speak out against Ratner, Olivia told the Times, “It feels as if I keep going up against the same bully at school who just won’t quit. You just hope that enough people believe the truth and for enough time to pass so that you can’t be connected to him anymore.”

Now, as even more powerful men join the dozens already accused of sexual abuse in the past few months, the X-Men: Apocalypse star is calling for a total overhaul of the system that has allowed for these alleged abuses of power. In a powerful essay she wrote for Entertainment Weekly this week, Olivia advocates for systemic changes, including a zero-tolerance policy for sexual assault, that will, hopefully, prevent any further sexual misconduct by those in charge.

“In our world today—and it’s not just Hollywood, it’s the same for girls and women all over the world who have survived sexual abuse and/or harassment—abusers don’t usually get in trouble unless the victim is broken first, because the violating act alone is not damaging enough to spark society’s outrage. It’s a marathon towards self-destruction in order to gain credibility and a vicious circle of victim-blaming,” she wrote. “When people ask how these men in powerful positions were able to hurt so many people for so many years, I look to the people at the top and ask those questions.”

She continued, “This is not a ‘women’s’ issue, this is an abuse-of-power issue … and until we eradicate the diseased roots of our infrastructure and make foundational, systemic changes, nothing will change. We can use this moment to create a lasting shift. We should create a zero-tolerance policy with actionable consequences for sexual assault and any other forms of abuse. Heads of studios, bosses, and CEOs should enforce equal pay because continuing to pay us less perpetuates a bias that women are inferior.”

Olivia ended on a powerful note, asking for those already in positions of power not to be complacent in the corrupt system that allows for powerful people to take advantage of those below them. “If you’re already at the top or on your way there, please don’t hold us back anymore. Instead, stand with the rest of us—because the glass ceiling that hangs over me is the same glass ceiling that will hang over your daughters, sisters, nieces,” she wrote. “Together, our voices are mighty, powerful, and earth-shaking. We’re strong. We’re not afraid to call each other out—and we’re not afraid to call you out anymore either.”

Olivia Wilde's Blond Highlights Are Super Subtle and Majorly Pretty

There’s arguments for and against reading into celebrity hair changes. On the one hand, celebrities are people, obviously, and while sometimes they just dye their hair for the fun of it (and the Insta story), other times it goes deeper. Case in point, when Olivia Wilde chopped her hair off last winter after seeing the Melania Trump resemblance, and when she dyed her hair dark brown to get into character as Julia in 1984. She described that hair switch as “dark times call for dark hair,” and while it was a fittingly bleak statement, with the play wrapped, she just picked up some pretty beautiful blond highlights.

Wilde first took the change out for a spin at the Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program Luncheon, and her highlights are the best example of a tiny amount of bleach making a huge difference. The streaks come from celebrity hairstylist Owen Gould, and while it looks like they basically just dusted her ends with a few spots of caramel, the shift changes her whole look.

Especially when the light hits her flipped out ends, the lighter color reads like a hair accessory. That’s likely because instead of going for a molten, gradually ombré-d look, the blond actually starts pretty abruptly. And since it’s at her tips, it looks even cooler.

Although to be fair, Wilde probably knew it would. In her life pre-play, she was wearing a style pretty similar to her new streaks, with the same kind of blond ends that could easily be swept up in a bun for a more brunette look. If ain’t broke (and you’re not currently starring in a dystopian production), don’t fix it, etc.

Olivia Wilde Is Getting Mommy-Shamed for Kissing Her Son on the Lips

Last December trolls swarmed Hilary Duff’s Twitter feed after she posted a photo of herself kissing her then-four-year-old son, Luca, on the lips. Some people on the Internet took this perfectly harmless interaction between mother and son as an excuse to shame Duff. Comments like “gross,” “sick,” and even “get a room” began to pop up, but Duff shut them down with a pretty epic clap-back.

“For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my 4-year-old is ‘inappropriate,’ go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgment,” she tweeted.

And now something similar is happening to Olivia Wilde. The actress posted a photo to Instagram of herself kissing her three-year-old son (Otis) on the lips, and the comments section is already flooded with troll-y garbage.

“Kissing your kid like your husband. It’s not good for him,” one person wrote. “It’s gross,” wrote another. A few people even said Wilde will make her son sick by kissing him on the lips, which is just wrong and problematic on many levels. And get this: One user actually insulted Otis’ haircut. He’s three years old!

Instead of going on some long-winded rant about why these comments are out of line (that’s obvious, right?), let me just say this: Stop policing celebrity mothers. Wilde knows her child—and what’s best for him—better than random people on the Internet. It’s beyond messed up that a mother can’t share a genuine moment of love with her child without people contorting it into something wrong.

Wilde hasn’t acknowledged these comments (yet), but we’ll update this post if she does. We expect her clap-back game, like Duff’s, is very strong.
