'SNL' Epically Roasted Cast Member Pete Davidson About His Summer With Ariana Grande

A lot has happened for SNL‘s Pete Davidson since the show’s 43rd season finale back in May: The cast member got engaged to one of the biggest stars on the planet (cough cough Ariana Grande) and has consequently been in the limelight quite a bit more often. It’s a chain of events that apparently made him ripe for a little playful ribbing from his fellow cast members during the show’s 44th season premiere on Saturday night.

In a pre-recorded sketch, Davidson’s fellow cast mate Kyle Mooney laments that he thought 2018 would be his year to become one of the most recognizable names on SNL, but then, he says, “this summer happens.” Much to Mooney’s frustration, Davidson has suddenly become best friends with the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, and walks around studio 8H like he owns the place.

“I feel like this year I’ve gotta make a statement, so I’m gonna change things up a bit,” Mooney confesses to the camera, before going in for a full Davidson-inspired makeover.

He shows up to the first day of work an entirely new man, complete with a blond dye job, a wardrobe of graphic sweatshirts, and a pet pig.

“I love this, bro,” Mooney tells the camera. “People are finally starting to take me seriously. Now all I need is a hot celebrity girlfriend, and that’s fine by me.” He then shows up in the writers room with a list of demands and guest star Wendy Williams on his arm.

Davidson confronts Mooney about his copycat transformation—and it looks like there’s only room for one Pete Davidson on the show. The pair challenge each other to a Gladiator-style duel (in which episode host Adam Driver also becomes an unintended casualty) that ends with Davidson impaling Mooney with a sword.

Though Davidson came out the victor in this particular sketch, things for him weren’t all positive during the season’s premiere episode: During his turn on “Weekend Update,” he made a joke about replacing Ariana Grande‘s birth control with Tic Tacs, which many fans felt was “tone deaf” and “insensitive.”

You can watch the whole video of Mooney morphing into Davidson (and the gruesome aftermath) below:

Destiny's Child Member Michelle Williams Pens an Emotional Post About Seeking Mental Health Help

Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams hasn’t shied away from her struggles with depression. Last year, she opened up about battling mental health issues while being a member of one of the top-selling female groups of all time. But on Tuesday, she revealed even more when she posted a statement on social media sharing her experiences seeking help to stay healthy, explaining that she would continue to be a mental health advocate by practicing what she preached.

“For years, I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” she wrote in a post that she shared on Twitter and Instagram. “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need.”

According to TMZ, Williams—who made headlines following her reunion with DC3 during Beyonce’s historic Coachella performance—checked herself into a mental health facility outside of Los Angeles for a few days before releasing the statement on Twitter.

According to studies, most Americans have been affected by mental illness, but they often don’t get the help they need due to social stigmas. Williams, aware of that stigma, shared her struggles on the CBS show The Talk last year, saying that she had battled symptoms of depression since she was a teenager, but didn’t realize she was suffering until her mid-30s. She also said that at one point, she had suicidal thoughts.

“So many people are walking around acting like they’ve got it all together and they’re suffering,” she explained on the show.

On social media, Williams was met with an outpouring of support. Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson shared some encouraging words, writing on her post: “Michelle My Bell, I’m soo proud of you! You have given unselfishly of your time and support to so many and I know that you will be the best example of self care which we all need.” Missy Elliott and Solange also chimed in with uplifting messages.

Williams joins a growing list of celebrities who have used their platforms to speak honestly about mental health. Meghan Trainor recently discussed her battle with anxiety and depression, while stars like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Lena Dunham have all publicly taken time off for self-care.

Hillary Clinton Had the Best Response After an 'SNL' Cast Member Got a Tattoo of Her

It’s not often that Hillary Clinton drops into Instagram comments to compliment a tattoo. But such was the case with SNL cast member Pete Davidson, who recently took to the social media platform to show off some new ink he’d gotten. Ink, that is, that just so happens to be of the former presidential candidate.

“Wanted to get @hillaryclinton a Christmas gift so I got a tattoo of my hero,” he captioned the pic of the tattoo, located smack on his right leg. “Thanks for being such a badass and one of the strongest people in the universe.”

The tattoo is a power-suited Clinton with a sassy look on her face, a sparkling necklace and brooch, and pretty much exuding as much power as a cartoon version of someone can. Super-sweet, right? What happened next was even better. Clinton, notified of the tag, sent some love his way in the comments.

“Thanks, @petedavidson,” said Clinton, who has had her fair share of appearances on SNL. “This makes it significantly less awkward that I’ve had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years. But seriously, I’m honored. Merry Christmas my friend.”

Davidson was dying—as the rest of us probably would be—and he commented back “OMG WHAAAAAAAT!!!!” because that is the only appropriate response for a situation like this.

A 'Riverdale' Cast Member Just Said He 'Really Likes Cole and Lili Together'

Riverdale returning last week reminded the world of two things: 1) Betty and Jughead are the cutest, and 2) They’d be even cuter if their IRL counterparts, Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse, were also dating off-screen. That latter question has been floating around the Riverdale universe for nearly a year. People are convinced Reinhart and Sprouse are an item, even though neither has confirmed it.

The proof is out there, though. For one, there’s the time they were caught holding hands at San Diego Comic-Con—and then they did it again on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. Toss in a few sweet social media posts and this maybe-snuggle on The Tonight Show, and you have a celebrity relationship mystery for the ages.

And the plot just thickened thanks to Skeet Ulrich, who plays Jughead’s dad (F.P. Jones) on Riverdale. In a new interview with Access Hollywood, the actor accidentally let it slip that he “likes” Reinhart and Sprouse “together.”

When asked who his favorite Riverdale on-screen ships are, Ulrich said, “I really like Cole and Lili together—Betty and Jughead—I think there’s a lot of positive qualities about them together for sure.” Watch his interview for yourself, below:

Granted, Ulrich is most likely talking about Rienhart and Sprouse in the context of the show; that is, after all, what he was asked. But the fact he felt the need to clarify his statement by saying “Betty and Jughead” is suspicious. It’s almost as if he feared people would think he was talking about Reinhart and Sprouse off-screen if he didn’t say the characters’ names. And if that thought did cross his mind, isn’t this a sign something might be going on between C and L?

This Reinhart-Sprouse Instagram fan page certainly thinks so. The account’s runner posted Ulrich’s interview on Tuesday and captioned it, “Skeet nearly exposed himself for shipping both Sprousehart and Bughead.”

Of course, Reinhart and Sprouse never have to confirm their relationship—or lack thereof—to anyone; their personal life is completely their business. Riverdale fans have just as much fun (playfully) obsessing over interviews like this as they do fan theories.
