Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Had an Emotional Day Meeting Kids With Serious Health Needs


Are you having as tough a reentry to work after the long weekend as I am? Well, I’ve got just the thing to help you through the rest of the afternoon: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and tons of adorable children.

Today the duke and duchess of Sussex are attending one of Harry’s favorite events, the WellChild Awards. WellChild is a national U.K. children’s charity with the mission to make it possible “for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible,” according to the organization’s site, and the annual event honors these children and their caregivers. Prince Harry has been a patron since 2007, and this is his first year attending with Meghan. “I have been a patron of the organization for 11 years now, and this year I am especially grateful to be able to share the scope and magnitude of this work with my wife, who joins me here this evening,” he said, according to reporter Lizzie Robinson.

Royal reporters describe it as a special and inspirational event for everyone there, royalty or not.

Before the official ceremony, though, the newlyweds attended a private reception where they met with some of the children and their families. Of course, anyone who’s followed Prince Harry over the years knows that he’s at his best around kids—fittingly, Meghan is too.

Case in point: Watch as she meets Matilda, who has spina bifida and has had 40 surgeries in her short life. She dreams of becoming a nurse one day.

“I’ve just bumped into Matilda at the @WellChild awards – she told me that she gave #meghan a posy of white roses. Meghan took one out gave it back to her and told her to put it in her memory box ?,” tweeted reporter Rebecca English. “Harry made her ‘pinky promise’ to never stop smiling ?”

Evie, 16, also has spina bifida and now mentors young people with health problems.

Next up, balloon animals and some advice on how to deal with photographers from Prince Harry.

They also met with Jacob, age 17, who cares for his sister Melissa. Melissa requires 24-hour care, but with Jacob’s help she’s achieved goals doctors said she wouldn’t reach, like walking.

They also met with 10-year-old Jamie, who completed the 2017 Parallel London 1K Super Sensory Run in his walker.

And Jake, aged 12, who was told he couldn’t audition for theater roles because of his spinal muscular atrophy. He landed the lead role in The Christmasaurus last December.

Meanwhile, Chloe, 10, didn’t miss the opportunity to show off her fabulous dress to the duchess.

Scarlett, 10, cares for her older sister, helping with her feed pump, medicine, and more.

Winner Cameron, 16, spent his first three years in the hospital. Now he’s a junior political editor for a magazine.

And for old time’s sake, Kensington Palace even tweeted some photos of Prince Harry at the event in years past:

Melania Trump's Facial Expression After Meeting Putin Sparks Twitter Reactions


On Tuesday, Melania Trump had the pleasure of joining her husband, President Donald Trump, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, where the two world leaders reportedly discussed how to improve relations between their two nations going forward (and colluded in public, according to multiple news outlet opinions).

Although, it might be more accurate to say Melania had the displeasure of meeting Putin, if her facial expression after shaking his hand was any indication.

The scene was standard: As is customary for presidents and first ladies, the Trumps shook hands and posed for a photo with Putin before the summit began. Trump was his usual long-handshake self, while Melania was more refined, clasping Putin’s hand for a more practical one or two seconds. But for a split second, before the photographers started clicking, the first lady appeared to flash through a multitude of facial expressions—none of which exactly embodied happiness, as eagle-eyed Twitter users noted. “Watch Melania’s face, she’s terrified. I’m starting to feel for her,” one wrote. “Watch Melania’s face and body language after shaking Putin’s hand. She is scared to death of him,” another added, while a third user tweeted, “She looks like she just stared into the eyes of evil….”

Other Twitter users used this viral moment to add some levity to what has been a divisive trip for the Trumps so far. “It’s so cruel to tweet jokes about Trump being in love with Putin what if Melania sees and thinks she’s finally free,” one person wrote. “The funny look from Putin, right after the ball was passed to Melania,” added a second user.

Besides this unusual interaction, Mrs. Trump seems have had a decent time during her husband’s European trip, which began last week when she met Queen Elizabeth II and wore a yellow J. Mendel gown that Twitter deemed meme-worthy.

Donald Trump Reportedly Broke Royal Protocol Multiple Times When Meeting With Queen Elizabeth II


Donald Trump caused a major Twitter storm last week when he reportedly kept Queen Elizabeth II waiting for about 15 minutes. But this was far from the only faux pas he allegedly committed that day. According to news reports, the president went on to break royal protocol multiple times during his meeting with the queen.

The New York Times reports that both the president and First Lady Melania Trump forgot to bow and curtsy when meeting Queen Elizabeth II, as is customary. Then, Trump walked in front of the 92-year-old monarch, which the Times writes is a “royal no-no.” Footage of the awkward moment shows him stopping in front of her at one point, cutting her off, and making her walk around him. The third snafu happened after the meeting. On Monday, Good Morning Britain aired an interview Trump did with host Piers Morgan, in which he recalled the queen saying Brexit was “a very complex problem.” Time reports that heads of state revealing their conversations with the queen is a breach of protocol.

Buckingham Palace shot down reports and rumors that Prince Charles and Prince William intentionally snubbed Trump by not attending his meeting with the queen. “It was entirely in line with standard practice for guest of government visits [for] The Queen to receive the President and First Lady,” a palace spokesperson said, according to The Independent. “The arrangements were mutually agreed between the Palace and the U.K. and U.S. governments. There was never a suggestion that other members of the royal family would take part.”

Kim Kardashian Discusses What Happened During Her White House Meeting With Donald Trump


Kim Kardashian revealed a few details about her White House meeting with Donald Trump on Wednesday, telling Mic that she felt the president “spent the time to listen” as she made her case for why Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother sentenced to life without parole, deserves to be pardoned.

“I think that he really spent the time to listen to our case that we’re making for Alice,” she said. “He really understood, and I am very hopeful that this will turn out really positively I hope.”

Kardashian sat down with Trump in the Oval Office, following reports that she had been organizing a meeting with him for weeks through Jared Kushner. Kardashian reportedly wanted to discuss prison reform, and in particular the case of Johnson, who she has been advocating for since coming across her story on a Mic video about Johnson’s prison sentence, handed down after a non-violent, first time drug offense 21 years prior.

She attended Wednesday’s meeting with her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, who outlined Johnson’s case.

Trump tweeted about the meeting, saying, “Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing.” Following their Wednesday meeting, the president did announce a pardon—this time for conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, who was convicted of campaign finance violations. Trump also signaled he might extend clemency to former Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich of Illinois and Martha Stewart, but has not made his plans for Johnson clear.

Johnson has been the subject of much publicity after her story went viral. She was imprisoned for drug conspiracy and money laundering and, to the consternation of many, is not eligible for parole. Kardashian told Mic she feels Johnson has rehabilitated herself and has a lot waiting for her outside of prison, were she to be pardoned.

“I just feel really strongly that she has such a good support system,” she said. “She has a job waiting for her, she has a home to go to, and she has such a great, supportive family. Even seeing the work that she’s done while she’s in prison, knowing that she would never get out. She hasn’t had one disciplinary infraction since she’s been in prison in 21 and a half years.”

Kardashian’s trip to Washington was met with criticism on social media as many wondered if she was the best person to discuss prison reform. Kardashian said that while she didn’t have personal experience with the topic, she felt a “simple connection” to Johnson and would continue to fight to give her a “second chance at life.”

“If it takes me to go and talk to the highest person in power, the only person that can make this happen, which is President Trump, then I will definitely do that,” she said.

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone's First Meeting Was Nearly Intercepted by a 'Stalker'


Well, this won’t convince you to see an orchestra anytime soon, that’s for damn sure.

Appearing in a new video for W magazine, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone fondly reminisced about the time they both believed they might’ve not been texting with each other in the early stages of their friendship, but rather a peculiar “stalker” who attempted to charm them with his musical capabilities. Allow us to explain.

“We both had the same stalker. His name was John the Orchestra Guy. He would ‘accidentally’ text us,” Lawrence recalled in the video with a laugh. “He wasn’t really a stalker. He was this guy who had a lot of people’s numbers. He must’ve worked at a studio or as an agent’s assistant or something,” Stone clarified. “He texted me and said, Hey, Alex—making up a name. I’m running late on my way to the sound stage. Can you warm up the orchestra for me? Make sure the orchestra’s warmed up for me. It was always about the orchestra. Can you text me back and let me know you get this? John.“

Both Stone and Lawrence were unaware at the time that this industry “stalker” was simultaneously texting both of them—again, they were only in a text-based friendship at that point—but it came to light when the duo finally decided to meet and hang out in-person. “We had been texting every day for a year, but we’d never talked on the phone and we’d never met,” Lawrence recounted. “Then we were finally going to meet and she sent me her address and I’m driving over, and on the way over, I’m like, Oh my god, what if this is John the Orchestra Guy? She thought when I was on the way over, Oh my god, what if this is John the Orchestra Guy? So then I called you and we were like…hello? That’s the first thing we had in common. We’ve all been there, right?”

Watch as a Teen Freaks Out Over Meeting a K-Pop Star—and Ignores Melania Trump


By all accounts, it seems like First Lady Melania Trump is having the time of her life on her state trip to Asia. This week alone, she’s stopped by Mikimoto to tour the flagship store of the iconic pearl retailer, shared tea and wine with Japanese First Lady Akie Abe, and practiced her calligraphy with fourth graders at Kyobashi Tsukiji Elementary School.

On Tuesday, the whirlwind tour continued and the First Lady ventured onward to South Korea to speak at a state-sponsored event for the forthcoming 2018 Winter Olympics. Posing alongside a group of teenage girls, Trump seemed relaxed and cheerful as she chatted with the teens (as CNN reporter Kate Bennett recently told The Daily Front Row, Melania “connects well and seems to come alive in a joyful way” when she’s spending time with kids).

As the teens stood beside the First Lady, one of the girls began screaming in excitement. Trump smiled kindly at the girl then looked over her shoulder and realized what prompted the reaction: Korean pop star and actor Choi Min-ho was standing right beside her. (It was basically the First Lady equivalent at waving at someone on the street, then realizing they’re waving at someone behind you.)

When the rest of the teens realized who else was there with them, they too began screaming and clapping. Despite some perceived awkwardness, Melania stayed in good spirits, laughing and smiling alongside the teens.

Such is the case with everything related to the First Family, Twitter had plenty of thoughts on the incident and wasted no time sharing them with the world.
