This is the second time Markle has attended Wimbledon since becoming a member of the royal family. Last year, she made an appearance with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, wearing a Ralph Lauren blue-and-white striped shirt and pants with an Altuzarra bag. Markle even attended the tournament in 2016, months before she and Prince Harry sparked dating rumors. That year’s Wimbledon, by the way, has an extra-special significance for Markle: It was around that time that she and Harry were first set up on their blind date.
By all accounts, Meghan Markle is settling into motherhood quite nicely. While she made an appearance at Trooping the Colour last weekend to celebrate the queen’s birthday, she’s been spending most of her time at Frogmore Cottage with baby Archie. “Meghan is radiant, taking each day one day at a time…what strikes me most is this authentic peacefulness that has settled within her,” a royal source said recently.
Given the whirlwind ride Markle has been on since her relationship with Prince Harry became public in 2017, it must be nice to take a step back to just focus on herself and her family. She’s reportedly adopted a similar mentality when it comes to her post-birth fitness routine.
Royal reporter Katie Nicholl tells Entertainment Tonight that Markle “hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape,” and nor should she be! “Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit,” Nicholl continued. “She was very into her fitness regime. She used to run around the park in Kensington, but she has been taking it easy. And I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime—nothing too strenuous.”

It’s great to hear that the Duchess of Sussex is taking care of herself and not worrying about the ridiculous expectations placed on women after they give birth. “The whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle,” Nicholl tells ET. “It’s been a natural embracing of motherhood, and with that has come a pretty gentle routine … Meghan hasn’t been hitting the gym. She hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape. It’s only four weeks really since the birth, and she’s been taking that exercise regime very gently, indeed.”
The fact Markle’s practicing yoga should come as no surprise; her mother, Doria, is a yoga teacher and Markle has often talked about its benefits. “Apparently Doria took up postpartum yoga and baby yoga, and that’s all Meghan has been doing,” Nicholl also toldET. “And lots of proud walks around Windsor Great Park, so, gentle exercise, but no hard training, no weights. She’s apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape. She’s enjoying this time. She’s being gentle to herself.” Cheers to that.
Although Meghan Markle is still very much on maternity leave, she took a little break to honor Queen Elizabeth’s 93rd birthday at the royal Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on Saturday (June 8). This was her first public appearance since introducing baby Archie to the world—and as happy as everyone was to see the new mom, it was her ring finger that caught everyone’s attention. As Markle waved to the crowds from her carriage, it didn’t take long for sharp-eyed fans to notice she was wearing a third band on her wedding ring finger. Of course, this prompted speculation about the meaning behind this new piece of jewelry—and whether it’s a push present from Prince Harry.
There is no official word from the palace about what the ring signifies, but fans and experts believe it might be an “eternity ring” because of the diamonds set all the way around the band. Rings with similar designs are sometimes given to signify eternal love and the commitment shared by couple, with the ring’s circle of diamonds visually representing the sentiment, according to UK-based The Diamond Store. Considering the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just celebrated two major milestones—having a baby and their one-year wedding anniversary—it seems like a pretty solid explanation.

Markle’s first official post-baby appearance was perfectly timed—after all, Trooping the Colour is one of the royal family’s biggest public appearances. They all gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the traditional Royal Air Force Red Arrow flyover—and the resulting photos captured a smiling Markle standing next to her husband.
The “Markle Effect”—i.e. the phenomenon of royal stans rushing to buy every outfit Meghan Markle leaves the house in—has been well documented by this point. Who hasn’t seriously considered impulse buying a tuxedo dress? But one of the less discussed abilities Markle holds is the power to make certain beauty products fly off the shelves. Take Tatcha’s Rice Polish, which promptly began selling out after headlines declared her love for it.
Unfortunately, Markle’s becoming royal means she’s no longer able to openly discuss her routine (which is why the source of Kate Middleton’s blowout was nearly impossible to pinpoint for so long). Luckily for us, because of her years spent in Hollywood, we already have some intel on her favorite products and makeup preferences—the biggest being the reason you’ll never see her in red lipstick.
Last year, Markle’s makeup artist Daniel Martin shared with People why she tends to favor nudes over bold shades like red or plum. “She likes to talk and she’s not a fussy person, so she doesn’t want to have to worry about anything,” he said. Naturally, you can imagine this sent the Internet into a tailspin, and rumors flew abound about what her mystery shade could be. And while we’ll never have official palace confirmation, word on the street is that her perfect nude is Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria.

It’s a makeup artist favorite, constant best-seller, and it’s actually got a rather interesting connection to one of Markle’s wedding guests. Like many of Tilbury’s lipsticks, the shade is named after one of her celebrity muses—which in this case, refers to the woman formerly known as Posh Spice. Very Victoria is designed to compliment Victoria Beckham’s signature smoky eye, and has a dusty-pink tint to give it a bit of warmth, which helps make nudes feel more wearable. It’s also got a reputation for looking great on a range of skin tones.
It’ll probably only be matter of time until Tilbury creates a custom lipstick exclusively named after Meghan. In early 2018, she made a satin-finish tea-rose pink lipstick called The Duchess, inspired by Kate Middleton’s go-to nude. She’s also got a Matte Revolution shade designed after the head of the monarchy, herself, The Queen, a cerise-pink matte that instantly became a top-seller.

I’m a huge fan of every Charlotte Tilbury product I’ve ever tried, and Very Victoria is no different. Firstly, I loved the creamy texture and how moisturizing it felt on my lips, especially for a matte lipstick. As for the color, as someone who usually goes for a bright lip, I actually really loved this one. It picked up the pinker undertones on my skin and wasn’t as brown on my lips as it was in the tube which was a pleasant surprise.

This lipstick is very similar to my all time favorite lip color, Nars Sheer Lipstick in Falbala. They’re both very similar to my natural lip color, but this one is a little more matte and pink. It was easy to put on and didn’t require a lot of effort to make it work, but didn’t have as much hydration as my usual lipsticks.

It’s hard to find a good neutral lipstick but this one is perfect. Not only does it match my lip color nicely, but I thought it actually made my lips look a little bigger. The littlest royal isn’t even a month old yet, and he’s already been visited by some of the most famous people in the world—one of which includes Meghan Markle‘s close friend Serena Williams. The tennis star paid a surprise visit to the Frogmore Cottage last week to see Markle and Prince Harry and to meet baby Archie for the first time.
According to The Daily Mail, Williams was joined by her husband Alexis Ohanian and 1-year-old daughter Olympia. After the visit, the family continued on to Paris, where the pro will compete in the French Open.
Williams, who is among the first of Markle’s friends to meet baby Archie, also posted a photo of herself on Instagram last week during her visit. Although it’s unclear if the pic was taken in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s home, we gotta say: Things are looking pretty regal.
Following baby Archie’s arrival, there have been rumors swirling about who his godparents will be. Harry and Markle have yet to announce their decision, and since Prince William and Kate Middleton are unlikely to be the baby’s godparents, there’s been a lot of speculation about who will take on the important role. One rumored contender for the role of godmother is Markle’s close friend and maid of honor, Jessica Mulroney, who reportedly also visited the newest member of the royal family last week with her daughter Ivy. Williams definitely seems to be in the running as well: After meeting in 2014, she and the Duchess have remained incredibly close—not to mention Williams also helped organize Markle’s lavish baby shower at the ritzy Mark Hotel in New York City in February, which is, um, a very godmotherly thing to do.
Back in September, Williams also revealed the two had been in touch more than ever. “We were actually just texting each other this morning,” she told Australia’s “The Sunday Project.” “We have known each other for a long time, but we really are relying on each other a lot recently.”
No matter who winds up being godmother—and it’s not a competition—either of these royal-adjacent ladies is just lucky to have met Archie and hold the newest royal addition. Those cheeks!
It was only a little less than two weeks ago that Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child, Archie, but already her friends are sharing what they think she’ll be like as a mom. Spoiler: She’s going to be great.
In the new CBS special, Meghan and Harry Plus One, Gayle King spoke to Markle’s close friend—and wedding-day makeup artist—Daniel Martin and fellow actress Janina Gavankar about the duchess’s parenting style, among other things. (Buckingham Palace released a rare statement about the special saying, “The Duchess has not had any involvement in the CBS special, nor has she requested or given permission to friends to participate.”)
Gavankar thinks, in many ways, the Duchess of Sussex will be like all the other doting new moms out there. “She’s gonna be such a good mother,” she said. “I think she’ll be very low maintenance, very hands-on. The way she would have been if she hadn’t married into the royal family.” However, she also believes Markle will “run a tight ship.”

“Parenting is difficult in the beginning, but I feel like they got this,” Martin told King. “They’re ready for this…there’s just gonna be so much love for that baby. I feel like Meghan and H are really going to keep this kid real.”
It also seems like Markle’s foodie nature and California roots will come into play as she and Harry raise Archie “with lots of healthy home-cooked meals, no doubt,” Martin said. “I’m sure the baby’s gonna be raised, like … definitely clean and green. She loves to cook … eating organic whenever she can.” He also says he wouldn’t be surprised if the duchess makes her own baby food. (If only she could still post recipes on The Tig!)
As for new dad Prince Harry? “He’s so good with kids … even when they were doing the family portrait after the wedding with everybody, he was on the floor, just playing with the kids,” Martin adds. “And that’s when I knew, like, he’s gonna be the coolest dad.”
It sounds like baby Archie is in very capable hands indeed.
