This is the second time Markle has attended Wimbledon since becoming a member of the royal family. Last year, she made an appearance with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, wearing a Ralph Lauren blue-and-white striped shirt and pants with an Altuzarra bag. Markle even attended the tournament in 2016, months before she and Prince Harry sparked dating rumors. That year’s Wimbledon, by the way, has an extra-special significance for Markle: It was around that time that she and Harry were first set up on their blind date.

What’s Up With the ‘Bachelorette’ Contestants Wearing the Same Pink Blazer?

Turns out, there’s a good chance those pink jackets were gifted to the men on the show. Former Bachelor Nick Viall recently opened up on his podcast, The Viall Files, to discuss the “gift bags” that are given to contestants.

“Every season you get a gift bag when you show up. I guarantee you there’s a blazer company that gifted the guys different colored blazers,” he said. “I’m certain that’s what happened. I’m certain that’s what it is. I haven’t asked, but I would be shocked if that’s not it.”

This explains a lot. Former contestant Jaclyn Swartz previously told Refinery29 that she received a bag of goodies on her season as well, which included bathing suits, clothes, nail polish, and even a hair wand. Jillian Harris also confirmed on her blog that the swag bags are a staple in the Bachelor franchise, adding that the bags are filled with clothes that producers want contestants to wear on camera.

This also explains why there are other colored blazers—like this cranberry one that Dylan wore—floating around the mansion outside of the pink ones. It’s safe to assume that if blazers did come in the gift bags, they’re likely different colors and fans just zeroed in on the pink ones. For now we can only hope the salmon jacket will be addressed—and worn!—on the “Men Tell All” special, which airs July 22.

These Fall 2018 Outfits Prove That a Grey Blazer Goes With Everything

Last fall, I fell in love at Fashion Week. It wasn’t with a new designer or a new “it” model, but with a single item I kept seeing, over and over again—and not even on the runway: Among the fanny packs and chunky sneakers making the street style rounds, there was a specific type of blazer that the fashion crowd rallied behind. It was practical, polished, and slightly preppy; I could easily see myself shrugging it on over an all-denim outfit or a sweater dress. Since then, all I could think about was how I needed a grey plaid blazer.

Fast-forward to Fall 2018, and the grey plaid blazer has proven to be more than a street-style fling. You can find versions of it at every end of the market—from H&M to the Tibi and Theory. (I’m partial to a double-breasted rendition from Nordstrom’s in-house label Treasure & Bond.) It has gotten to the point where I seek out situations to incorporate it into my look: dwindling office A.C., an “important” meeting I want to dress up for… I truly love it that much. It doesn’t hurt that my beloved grey plaid blazer is something of a compliment magnet, either.

To illustrate just how versatile a grey plaid blazer can be, I laid out five ways to wear the same style, for a variety of scenarios, from a buttoned-up workday to a more-undone weekend brunch. Copy one, or all five—no matter your aesthetic, you’ll discover a newfound affection for the piece while getting your cost-per-wear out of it.

We bring you the trends. You make them your own. Sign up for our daily newsletter to find the best fashion for YOU.

Zara Is Selling a Replica of Meghan Markle's 2018 Trooping the Colour Off-the-Shoulder Blazer

Meghan Markle may have a Rolodex full of designer contacts—one of the many, many perks of being a duchess—but that doesn’t mean dressing like her has to come at the designer price point. Zara appears to be selling a near-exact replica of one of our favorite Meghan Markle outfits of all time: her off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera blazer suit set from the 2018 Trooping the Colour celebration.

The affordable retailer is offering a red Boat Neck Blazer cut in the same style as Markle’s Carolina Herrera number. It features an “open neckline, oversized round buttons, and a folded-over collar—and it can be yours for $99.90.

Even in a totally different color (the Duchess’s was pale pink), there’s no denying the similarities between the jacket and the look that likely inspired it.

As a reminder, here’s Markle’s Carolina Herrera top from earlier this summer.

And, behold, Zara’s take on the Duchess-approved trend.

Markle has proven to be a fan of the boat neck silhouette in her royal capacities. In addition to her Trooping the Colour dress, her Givenchy wedding gown also dipped below her collarbone (and, it’s worth noting, was approved by the queen). The year of the bateau continues!

14 Celebrity-Inspired Blazer Dresses That'll Make You Want to Suit Up

The concept of a “going-out outfit” has thankfully evolved beyond the bandage dresses and the towering heels, in favor of a more “do you” approach. Still, a handful of silhouettes will start cropping up once in a while—on a celebrity here, at a “new arrivals” section there—that feel pretty well-suited for this very specific type of dressing. That pun is very much intentional, as we’re here to tell you about the style currently catching our eye: blazer dresses. We’ve seen many memorable renditions of it on the red carpet (Rihanna at the 2014 British Fashion Awards, Kerry Washington at the SNL 40 party, Bella Hadid at the 2017 CFDA Awards, Reese Witherspoon at the most recent Emmys)—enough that has us convinced of this particular going-out trend’s staying power. Don’t just take our word for it: Just look at the amount of structured, belted minidresses you can buy right now. Ahead, 14 of our favorites.
