Meghan Markle's Post-Baby Fitness Routine Is So Relatable

By all accounts, Meghan Markle is settling into motherhood quite nicely. While she made an appearance at Trooping the Colour last weekend to celebrate the queen’s birthday, she’s been spending most of her time at Frogmore Cottage with baby Archie. “Meghan is radiant, taking each day one day at a time…what strikes me most is this authentic peacefulness that has settled within her,” a royal source said recently.

Given the whirlwind ride Markle has been on since her relationship with Prince Harry became public in 2017, it must be nice to take a step back to just focus on herself and her family. She’s reportedly adopted a similar mentality when it comes to her post-birth fitness routine.

Royal reporter Katie Nicholl tells Entertainment Tonight that Markle “hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape,” and nor should she be! “Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit,” Nicholl continued. “She was very into her fitness regime. She used to run around the park in Kensington, but she has been taking it easy. And I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime—nothing too strenuous.”

It’s great to hear that the Duchess of Sussex is taking care of herself and not worrying about the ridiculous expectations placed on women after they give birth. “The whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle,” Nicholl tells ET. “It’s been a natural embracing of motherhood, and with that has come a pretty gentle routine … Meghan hasn’t been hitting the gym. She hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape. It’s only four weeks really since the birth, and she’s been taking that exercise regime very gently, indeed.”

The fact Markle’s practicing yoga should come as no surprise; her mother, Doria, is a yoga teacher and Markle has often talked about its benefits. “Apparently Doria took up postpartum yoga and baby yoga, and that’s all Meghan has been doing,” Nicholl also told ET. “And lots of proud walks around Windsor Great Park, so, gentle exercise, but no hard training, no weights. She’s apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape. She’s enjoying this time. She’s being gentle to herself.” Cheers to that.

Ian Somerhalder Broke His Post-Baby 'Month of Silence' to Gush About Nikki Reed

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed joined the parents club on July 25 when they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder. Fans hoping to see pics of their new baby ASAP were disappointed when Reed told Fit Pregnancy and Baby she and Somerhalder were taking a one-month break from communication after she gave birth. This meant no visitors, no smart phones, and no social media—which was shocking news because they’re two of the most transparent celebrities on the Internet. Reed and Somerhalder literally announced they were expecting on Instagram, so the concept of them not sharing anything on social media for one month was surprising.

And I guess Somerhalder thought so too, because he just broke his 30-day silence pact. Don’t worry, though: It’s for a very good reason. The Vampire Diaries alum took to Instagram Monday night (August 21)—four days shy of one full month—to gush about Reed.

“Just a quick note to you my beautiful wife,” he wrote under a photo of Reed’s Fit Pregnancy and Baby cover. “You are briefly napping on the other side of the room after being an amazing mom all night so you’ll read this when you wake… seeing these images reminds me of those amazing 9 months that you sacrificed your whole being to grow our little one. The kindness, the beauty and organic nature of these photos makes me so very proud. You brought such fun and such power into our lives being pregnant but you literally brought the word sexy into pregnancy, we all see it. Thank you for being my partner in this life and thank you for inspiring not just me but all others who read, hear or see what your soul gives us.”

See the very touching post for yourself, below:

Reed told Fit Pregnancy and Baby she and Somerhalder wanted unplug after welcoming their child to make sure they’re “fully present” for those first 30 days. “We’ll take the baby’s first month for ourselves,” Reed said, according to People. “After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence. Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate. Otherwise, every five minutes it would be, ‘How are you feeling? Can we have a picture?’ You don’t get those first 30 days back.”

Twenty-six days is basically the same as 30, right?
