Here's Your First Look at Priyanka Chopra's Ralph Lauren Wedding Dress


Did you also spend the weekend refreshing the Instagram feeds of Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, and all their celebrity friends for glimpses of their wedding? The couple has been slowly rolling out photos from their various prewedding ceremonies, but exclusive images of the main events have been revealed in People.

We knew that, for the Christian portion of the event, both the bride and groom would be wearing Ralph Lauren, a tidbit dropped as part of a Vogue cover story. (For the Hindu ceremony, Indian designer Sabyasachi outfitted both Chopra and Jonas—her in a traditional red lehenga, him in a sherwani with a hand-embroidered chikan dupatta and a chanderi tissue safa.)

Ralph Lauren is a brand that has special significance for the couple: They attended the 2017 Met Gala together as its guests, marking their first major outing as a duo.

This wedding is a pretty significant moment for Ralph Lauren as a brand: According to Vogue, the brand has designed bespoke bridal and bridesmaid looks only for members of Lauren’s family—but he made an exception for this couple. (“He personally came to Chopra with sketches,” the magazine noted.) And the result did not disappoint.

Ralph Lauren created a total of 34 outfits for the wedding ceremony: Chopra’s dress, Jonas’ tuxedo, Chopra’s mother’s look, Jonas’ mother’s outfit, Jonas’ father’s suit, 12 bridesmaid dresses, 12 groomsmen tuxedos, four flower girl dresses, and the ring bearer look. (For the reception following the Christian ceremony, the bride changed into a different ivory dress, also by Ralph Lauren.)

The main event was obviously the bride’s gown: a long-sleeve, high-neck, hand-beaded, hand-embroidered two-layer dress. The sheer top was crafted from tulle and embellished with mother-of-pearl paillettes, crystal seed beads, Swarovski crystals, and satin colored buttons; according to the brand, this portion of the dress took 1,826 hours alone to make. Underneath, there was a strapless, sequined column dress—complete with 2,380,000 mother-of-pearl sequins, per Ralph Lauren. Her veil was a very low-key 75-feet long. Chopra’s Ralph Lauren wedding dress was filled with hidden personal details. Firstly, a piece of her now mother-in-law’s wedding dress was incorporated into the design. Then she had eight words and phrases sprinkled throughout the embroidery: Nicholas Jerry Jonas (her husband’s name), 1st December 2018 (her wedding date), Madhu & Ashok (her mother’s and father’s names), Om Namah Shivay (a Hindi mantra), Family, Hope, Compassion, and Love.

Jonas, too, opted to sprinkle some nods to his wife into his wedding tuxedo: A piece of Chopra’s gown was stitched to the inside of his Ralph Lauren Purple Label blazer, with the words My Jaan (“My Life” in Urdu).

Ah, you’ve got to love love.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham Are Expecting Their First Child


Surprise! Bachelor alums Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are expecting their first child together, the couple exclusively revealed to Us Weekly on Wednesday (November 14).

Naturally, Arie and Lauren celebrated this news with a photo-shoot in which they made out all over a house (presumably their house) while holding a four-picture sonogram. It’s hard to tell if these photos are promoting their baby, their house, or their kissing, but I’m here for them, regardless.

One of the pics features the sonogram placed right next to a pair of driving gloves—because, remember Arie loves cars!—and a sketchbook. Does Lauren…draw? Was that ever discussed on The Bachelor, or was their entire season dominated by Arie making weird noises when he kisses and saying, “I love that” 6,000 times? Either way, this is going to be one happy race car-driving, dress-sketching baby! The world’s first-ever car and fashion enthusiast! See all the photos here.

“I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over,” Burnham tells Us Weekly. “Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, ‘You’re pregnant!’”

If you somehow forgot, Arie and Lauren were at the center of perhaps The Bachelor‘s biggest controversy in March when Arie decided to break up with Becca Kufrin, the woman he proposed to, to try things out with runner-up Lauren. Becca found her happily ever after, though, with the polarizing Garrett Yrigoyen on her season of The Bachelorette, and Lauren and Arie are slated to tie the knot in January 2019.

Arie says Lauren bought several pregnancy tests just to make sure she was expecting. “Lauren took all of them and they were all positive,” he says. “We weren’t trying, but we are so excited. It’s going to be a whole new chapter in our lives.”

50 Years of Ralph Lauren: The Most Iconic Moments

Lauren Conrad Dreads the Return of Low-Rise Jeans As Much As You Do


In 2004, Lauren Conrad ran around Laguna Beach in denim that was very much of the era—skin-tight super-flares with an ultra low-rise. Present-day Conrad, however, doesn’t have room in her closet for those, or really any interest in them.

“Everything I wore in my late teens and early twenties was just so low rise,” Conrad tells Glamour, looking back on her early-aughts wardrobe. (We know.) “And at this point,” she says, “I just can’t.”

She has a legitimate excuse for disavowing the denim that was broadcasted into homes across America on MTV: Conrad says a low rise just isn’t suitable for her lifestyle as a mom: “I have a kid, so I’m constantly getting down on my knees or something. I couldn’t wear them just because they’re not full-coverage. I would just be like tugging them up all the time. I can’t pull off the low rise.”

In her updated denim collection for LC Lauren Conrad, available now at Kohl’s, comfort is prioritized over nostalgia. There are a few nods to her favorite early aughts styles—like a pair of “barely boot” kick-out flares—but the majority of collection includes of-the-moment tapered legs and mid to high rise waists. (All pairs are offered in a size-inclusive run from petites to plus, no less.)

While Conrad’s taste in denim has evolved over the years, there’s one pair from that televised era that’ll always have a place in her heart: “I remember in high school I wanted a pair of Miss Sixty jeans so badly.” The style was very 2004: a low-rise, stretchy flare. “I literally would visit them in the store. But I had to buy my own clothes, so I was saving up because they were very fancy then.”

Back then, Conrad couldn’t let those jeans go. “I worked at a clothing store and I saved up […] and I finally went and bought them for myself,” she recalls. “I was so excited. I thought, I look so good in these.”

Her dream denim didn’t last long: In a scene from every shopper’s worst nightmare, Conrad’s jeans were ruined the same day that she bought them. “I went out that night to my friend’s house, and his dog came up and wrecked my pants and ripped them.” She assures that her jeans couldn’t be salvaged. “[It was] not a repairable rip. He destroyed them. I tried to stitch them up and they looked crazy.”

Nowadays, Conrad has a somewhat formulaic approach to her own denim use: “I wear jeans most days and I wear them to every situation,” she says. Her absolute go-to outfit, she adds, consists of high-rise skinny jeans and a T-shirt. Some fashion editors may have predicted the end of slim-fit denim, but per LC it’s not quite time to get out the Goodwill box. The low-rise flares, on the other hand? Those can stay in 2004.

Melania Trump Wore a Red, White, and Blue Ralph Lauren Dress for the Fourth of July


Melania Trump knew all eyes would be on her when it came to dressing for the Fourth of July—all the more so after a high-profile faux pas involving a certain green military jacket worn to visit migrant children and emblazoned with the phrase “I really don’t care, do u?” on the back. This, along with a series of other much-discussed moments, made choosing her outfit for the Fourth of July—a holiday as American as it gets—weighted with extra significance.

The President and the First Lady hosted a picnic for military families on the White House lawn. Mrs. Trump went with the $2,490, blue-and-white Rivera gingham Ralph Lauren evening dress—who knew gingham could go evening?—anchored by a red, bow-embellished Alexander McQueen belt. Ralph Lauren is traditionally super American (the label has outfitted Olympians), so as far as that vein of criticism could go, the dress is practically, shall we say, unimpeachable. (Plus, it had pockets!)

As for the rest of her outfit, there is the on-sale $537 belt from Alexander McQueen, the British-based line. (And, well, if it weren’t for those pesky Brits, one could argue wouldn’t have gone off and started a fight for independence, nor, therefore had a Fourth of July to commemorate in the first place.)

Her shoes were—wait for it—flats (very picnic appropriate), and were reportedly from French shoe icon Christian Louboutin. So let’s leave it at that: It was the Fourth of July; FLOTUS wore a dress by an American designer. She got this one spot on.

Lauren Graham May Be Getting a Role in 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'


Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino have a bond that spans from Stars Hollow to New York City and beyond. Case in point: Sherman-Palladino, who created and executive produced Gilmore Girls, recently said in an interview that Lorelai Gilmore would like to be involved in her latest project, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

“I gotta get my girl Lauren on the show,” Sherman-Palladino told The Hollywood Reporter. “I want to have her on it.” And you don’t spend seven seasons plus a revival as Sherman-Palladino’s star actor and BFF without picking up some writing and directing tips; Graham reportedly has some ideas when it comes to her part. “Lauren wants to be something very specific,” Sherman-Palladino said. “She has it all figured out.”

The first season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, currently streaming on Amazon, stars Rachel Brosnahan as the title character, Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1950s Jewish housewife whose life is uprooted when her husband leaves her for his secretary. She becomes a stand-up comedian, which sounds like exactly the type of person that the fast-taking, coffee-drinking single mom Lorelai would get along with. The second season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, set to begin filming in March 2018, will find Brosnahan and Alex Borstein (who plays Midge’s manager, Susie, and had her share of cameos on Gilmore Girls back in the day) embarking on a traveling comedy show.

And it seems Mrs. Maisel is just as big of a fan of Graham. Brosnahan revealed that she reached out to Graham before production of season one began to get advice on how exactly to master Sherman-Palladino’s signature dialogue-heavy style. In response, Graham said, “You’re an incredible actor, @RachieBros. Funny and luminous. You don’t need my advice.” Let’s get these three together already and start production!
