Ashley Graham Just Revealed the Details of Her Son's Birth—Including His Adorable Name

Ashley Graham‘s 2020 has gotten off to a very happy start. The supermodel and her husband, Justin Ervin, welcomed their first child—a boy—on January 18. And now she’s sharing more details about the day he was born on the latest episode of her podcast, Pretty Big Deal.

“Couldn’t hold back my tears on today’s @prettybigdealpod episode. Nothing prepares you for just how magical and intense giving birth is; I’m so grateful that I was able to deliver naturally in my home with my husband by my side for all 6 hours of labor,” she wrote on Instagram. “Holding my baby for the first time is a moment I’ll never forget. Such a special moment in my life deserved a BIG announcement!”

First, we finally learned the little boy’s name: Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin. “My sister Kia and I would have discussions about, ‘Oh, one day, when we have kids…’” Ervin said. “I brainstormed my own name for my future son, and I knew it was gonna be Isaac.” They picked the middle name “Menelik,” which means “son of the wise,” after a trip the couple took to Ethiopia last Christmas (they learned it was the name of that country’s first emperor). He also said that Giovanni (the Italian equivalent of John) is a tribute to both his and Graham’s grandfathers.

Graham says she gave birth to Isaac at home because her “anxiety would have been through the roof” at a hospital. “I have to say, now that I gave birth and I did it naturally and I felt everything, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do,” she said. “There’s nothing that could come my way where I say, ‘Oh, that’s too hard, I can’t handle that.’ I went through laboring for six hours naturally.”

“To go straight from the pool to the bed with our son and just hold him, what a bond,” Ervin added. The couple then brought little Isaac out for his big debut—and Graham nursed him on camera. How cute is he in his tiny camouflage outfit?

Ashley Graham also shared another photo of Isaac on her Instagram feed. “At 6:00PM on 01/18/2020, we welcomed 7lbs 5oz of love into our world. Meeting our son has made our hearts incredibly full,” she wrote.

Many congrats to the happy family!

Ashley Graham Launched a Size-Inclusive Wedding Dress Collection With Pronovias

Ashley Graham has been a constant champion for body inclusivity and diversity within the fashion industry, so it makes perfect sense that the supermodel has moved into designing clothes that reflect the many shapes and silhouettes she’s been advocating to see more of throughout her career. Last year she launched a bathing suit collection as part of an ongoing collaboration with Swimsuits for All, and this week she unveiled another impressive project: a line of wedding dresses to fit all sizes, in partnership with bridal line Pronovias.

The mission for Ashley Graham x Pronovias came from a personal place. In a press release, Graham explained how hard it was to find the right gown when she married her husband, Justin Ervin. “From shopping for the perfect wedding dress to the big reveal on your special day, women should feel confident and empowered throughout the entire process,” she said. “When I shopped for my wedding dress 10 years ago, I had difficulty finding a style in my size that fit well and made me feel special.”

The dresses range from size 0 to 34 and run from $1,000 to $3,500, and they’ll be available in early 2020 at both Pronovias boutiques and partners across the globe. The collection, which Graham called “classic, timeless, and fashionable” in an interview with The Knot, features modern, asymmetrical strapless cuts; elegant long-sleeve lace gowns; and even a white tuxedo suit. Check them out below.

Ashley Graham Posted a Pic Showing Off Her Stretch Marks, and People Are Loving It

Ashley Graham is currently pregnant with her first child, as the world learned last Wednesday (August 14), when she shared the news on Instagram. “Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life,” Graham wrote with a video of her and her husband being adorable. “It has been the best journey with my favorite person in the world! Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. ?”

As it tends to happen during pregnancy, Graham’s body is changing as the baby grows—and she’s clearly excited about the process: On Sunday (August 18), she posted a nude photo of herself to Instagram, showing off some stretch marks. “Same same but a little different,” she wrote in the caption.

Other celebrity friends were here for her post: “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Lily Aldridge commented. Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes dropped in three two-heart emojis. Even Dr. Pimple Popper got in on the emoji shower: “?????????”

Fans were also excited to see Graham’s pic: “I freaking love you for this… ” one wrote. “This is me, what I look like. Fabulous empowering amazing beautiful fearless!!!”

Graham’s shown off her body-IRL to fans before on Instagram before, and she’s long been an advocate for body positivity of all kinds. “I’m using my body to let other women know that imperfections are OK. That cellulite, rolls, curves, all of it, things that jiggle that shouldn’t be jiggling, it’s OK,” she told Glamour in 2015.

Or, as she captioned another iconic pic, “I workout. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I’m in. And I’m not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps or cellulite.. and you shouldn’t be either. #beautybeyondsize #lovetheskinyourein.”

During pregnancy or otherwise, we’re here for all of the positivity and realness Graham has to share, whenever she wants to share it.

Ashley Graham Is Pregnant With Her First Child

Congratulations are in order for Ashley Graham and her husband, Justin Ervin. The supermodel announced on Wednesday, August 14, that she is expecting her first child.

“Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life,” Graham posted on Instagram. “It has been the best journey with my favorite person in the world! Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. ?”

Ervin adorably commented, “I love you, babe. (And I love you, baby.)”

Check out the post for yourself, below:

Ervin shared in his own post (along with a sonogram shot), “To my forever love and my daily inspiration. Happy anniversary @ashleygraham These 9 years have played out like a lifetime,” he said. “I guess it’s because my life really started once you came into it. Now that we’ve made a life together, let’s make a life together. I love you and I love us. All of us…”

The love immediately started rolling in for the former Glamour Woman of the Year from celebrity friends. Singer Rita Ora commented, “Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️.” Grownish star Yara Shahidi replied, “?????? ?? ??????,” while designer Brandon Maxwell said, “Oh my god congratulations you guys!!!!! Lucky baby!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

We can’t wait to see Graham’s pregnancy style and how she embraces this new chapter in her life. The fashion icon is also a fierce body-positivity activist, which will no-doubt play a role in how she approaches pregnancy. “I’m never going to be big enough, I’m never going to be small enough,” she told Glamour last fall. “I’m always going to be too loud, I’m always going to be too quiet; I’m never going to be good enough for anyone. So I might as well just stay in my own lane and be great enough for me.”

Many congrats to the happy couple!

Watch Ashley Graham Fact-Check Beauty Tutorials on YouTube

Glamour digital cover star Ashley Graham has achieved icon status when it comes to fashion and beauty, which is why her looks are frequently mimicked by fans across the world. It’s no surprise, then, that there are dozens of Graham-inspired makeup tutorials on YouTube. Naturally, we asked the Revlon ambassador and body-positivity activist to stop by our offices and watch some of these videos herself—and her reactions were the best.

“She looks fantastic, I love this look on her,” Graham says to one vlogger who reimagined Graham’s makeup moment from the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscars party. “You could go grocery shopping in that look, too. You made it your own, and it’s beautiful.”

“When you’re the first of something, you are always going to have to answer the hard questions,” Graham told Glamour in her recent digital cover story. “…People are going to be confused by you because you’re the new kid in town. But if you ask me, I’m not the new kid in town—this body’s been around for centuries, and now I’ve just been given a voice.”

Why You Should Take Pride in Being an Outlier, According to Ashley Graham

For a crash course in self-confidence, look no further than model and podcast host Ashley Graham. She’s always been outspoken about claiming her space in fashion and beauty: Whether she’s modeling in unretouched photos or sharing her daily affirmations, she doesn’t hold back on embracing her identity.

Graham shared her keys to finding strength in her differences on a panel at the 2018 Glamour Women of the Year Summit that she moderated featuring Younger‘s Nico Tortorella, Pose‘s Indya Moore, author and comedian Phoebe Robinson, and Arrested Development‘s Alia Shawkat. The big takeaway: There’s more power in being an outlier than you may think.

The group kicked off by talking about the so-called “boxes” that their identities often fill in a creative field, like being a person of color, not conforming to the gender binary, or in Graham’s case, being a size 16. “For so long, we have been demanded to fit into boxes and we have been told we have to conform,” Graham said. “I’ve been told I have to be the perfect shape or the perfect size for sample sizes.” But, she said, speaking up for, and celebrating, her differences unlocked a new level to her career. “When I had to make my own terms, that’s when I finally became successful.”

Moore, who identifies as a gender-variant-femme, said that her gender identity was not accepted while she was growing up. “I had to navigate my existence as being misbehavior my whole life,” she said. But she says that fearlessly celebrating her identity today is the only way to live the life she wants, and to elevate other gender non-conforming folks. It’s a point reiterated by Robinson, who often found herself as the only black woman in a comedy room.”Your life is yours, and you have to go about it your own way,” she said.

Reaching that level of confidence comes from what Graham calls a “defining moment.” For her, that looked like leaning in to her size and accepting jobs where she was the only curve model. “I’ve been the token curve girl and sometimes I think if I say no will they give it to someone else or is that spot completely gone now,” Graham said. Being the first one in the room, even when it’s isolating or checking that “box,” makes room for more women later. “In my eyes, it’s necessary but it shouldn’t be forever,” she said.

It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, the panelists said: You’re worthy of your place in the world. “You are bold, you are brilliant, you are beautiful, and you are loved,” Graham reminded the audience.

Graham first explained in her July 2017 Glamour cover story that it’s the very things that set her apart—and, at one time, that weren’t celebrated in mainstream culture—that make her happiest to be herself. It’s a message that she reiterated on the panel today. “I felt like a token in the beginning [of my career],” she said in her cover story. “But now there are so many curve models—and more opportunities. I feel like a queen [on those jobs] because I’m the only one like me. I’m like, ‘Yes, I’m the curve ruler!'”
