Priyanka Chopra's Bachelorette Weekend in Amsterdam Looks Incredible

Priyanka Chopra‘s bachelorette party—make that a bachelorette weekend—is underway, and honestly, the photos that have been posted from the trip so far look amazing. If you haven’t heard, she’s getting ready to marry Nick Jonas, reportedly in Jodhpur, India on December 2: The two had a traditional Hindu engagement ceremony earlier this year, and last Sunday, Chopra had her bridal shower at the iconic Manhattan location of Tiffany’s (wearing a feathery bridal gown, no less).

We spotted the celebrations on Priyanka’s Instagram page, where she put up a picture of her on an Amsterdam canal. In the photo, she’s smiling gorgeously—and her engagement ring is sparkling in the light. She’s also still going strong with the feather motif, too; this time, however, they’re a detail on her sweater rather than on a wedding dress—though we wouldn’t be surprised if they make another appearance as an appliqué on her gown on the big day.

Nick’s mom also had a playful message for her future daughter-in-law: “Be good!” she commented on Priyanka’s post.

The festivities seem to continue under the hashtag #pcsbachelorette with pics posted by both Chopra and her friend, filmmaker Shrishti Behl Arya (she posted the below Stories). From Arya’s stories alone, the weekend looks like a great time, what with the canal cruising, buckets of champagne, and incredible lunch spreads.

Chopra also captured the sweet bouquet of roses on her Stories:

It’s obviously a trip to remember for a lifetime—here’s hoping we get a few more glimpses of the bachelorette weekend before it’s over.

Blake Lively Just Wore a Highlighter-Green Versace Menswear Suit, and She Looks Incredible

Blake Lively is no stranger to being extra when it comes to her OOTDs—or her formalwear, either (her Met Gala dress famously took more than 600 hours to make). Case in point: On Friday, she stepped out in New York City wearing not one, but two velvet blazers (and no shirt) in autumnal jewel tones. She has definitely pulled off multiple outfit changes during the day during press tours in the past (gotta look ~ fresh ~), and Friday was no different. Along with the velvet outfit, she also wore the most neon-y green suit we’ve ever seen—and she looks incredible.

Lively’s look was full-on monochrome and coordinated, and we know where she drew her inspiration: from the runway of Versace’s S/S ’19 menswear show, where a model marched down the runway in the exact same pointelle-knit sweater, jacket, and trouser combo. (She seems to have tailored the fit of the trousers a bit—Versace showed them a bit longer and slouchier—but it seems more Lively’s speed this way.)

Here’s Lively:

Here’s the Versace runway:

Who among us couldn’t take a page from Lively’s book here—after all, if you see something you like, who cares whether it’s from the men’s or women’s department? We’re feeling all sorts of inspired now (and, well, it’s almost flannel shirt and cozy sweater season).

Ariana Grande's 'God Is a Woman' Video Is an Incredible Manifesto for Empowering Female Sexuality

There are going to be plenty of people who don’t understand Ariana Grande‘s just-dropped “God Is a Woman” video—and not because they don’t know what to make of those screaming animatronic marmots that pop up halfway through.

They won’t understand it because they don’t understand Ariana Grande, or anyone else who doesn’t fit neatly into their antiquated mold of what a woman should be. They give us two options—virgin or whore—and that dichotomy can be an especially difficult one to defy when you laid the groundwork for your career at a super-young age. But Grande, who has always been an outspoken feminist and refused to be defined by her sexuality, rejects the notion that women can only be one thing, that feminine sensuality and divinity can’t go hand in hand.

When she posted a lengthy statement rejecting double standards and gender discrimination in 2015, she closed it with a Gloria Steinem quote that feels particularly relevant to “God Is a Woman”: “Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke… She will need her sisterhood.”

On its own, “God Is a Woman” is ultimately a song about sex. Its central concept is a straightforward and empowering one: “You love it how I move you/you love it how I touch you/My one, when all is said and done/You’ll believe God is a woman.” Grande also advocates for equality in the bedroom—something that shouldn’t feel radical in the year 2018, but still is in a culture that continues to shame women for enjoying sex and discourages them from speaking about their desires. Case in point: the Sweetener track, with lines like, “And I can tell that you know I know how I want it/Ain’t nobody else can relate/Boy, I like that you ain’t afraid/Baby, lay me down and let’s pray/I’m tellin’ you the way I like it, how I want it.”

The video takes these themes and adds some religious iconography to drive home the point that there is power in female sexuality. It opens with Grande at the center of the universe—literally and figuratively—as some sort of enormous godlike figure, hula-hooping the galaxy that surrounds her. Later, she’s naked and partially submerged in a pool of pink and purple paint that looks suspiciously like a giant vulva. She dances inside the flame of a candle and is worshipped by a choir dressed in all-white robes. At one point, she sits on top of the world, fingering the eye of a hurricane.

Some of it is not at all subtle, like the all-female recreation of Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” that closes the video and replaces Adam with Eve and God with Grande, or the Mother Earth imagery when Grande descends a mountain and strokes her growing, animated belly like some sort of fertility goddess (which has, of course, led to feverish speculation online that she’s pregnant—sigh). Some of it is more open to interpretation: Is the three-headed dog behind her supposed to be Cerberus, the ravenous creature who guards the underworld in Greek mythology? Or is it Fluffy, the character who guards the Sorcerer’s Stone in Harry Potter (of which Grande is a noted superfan)?

At first glance, it may seem like the tiny men below her in one shot are propping her up—blasphemy!—but look closer, and it’s apparent that she’s nursing them, a nod to Romulus and Remus of Roman mythology, often depicted as suckling at the teat of the she-wolf that raised them. When she walks a tightrope against an all-pink backdrop, it’s easy to assume she’s carrying balloons as she toes whatever fine lines society has laid out for her, but watch carefully and you’ll see she’s actually holding a cluster of planets. Our girl’s got the universe in her hands.

The video’s most striking image, however, features a spoken-word assist from none other than Madonna (who better to help dismantle the madonna-whore complex than the woman behind “Like a Prayer”?). It comes as Grande—dressed for battle in gloves that read “POWER” and a helmet with her trademark ears—mouths the pop icon’s reading of Ezekiel 25:17, the verse made famous by Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, replacing “brothers” with “sisters”: “And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.”

She then flings an oversized gavel (justice!) and shatters a literal glass ceiling, revealing an enormous pair of outstretched female legs. She poses in front of the heavenly rays beaming from the giant, shimmering crotch. Grande tweeted a clip of the scene yesterday, writing, “To my fellow goddesses who work their asses off every day to ‘break the glass ceiling,’ this is for you. I respect u and am endlessly inspired by u. pls continue to fuck it up, to be yourself unapologetically & always know how celebrated u are. hope this can be ya anthem.”

“God Is a Woman” is an anthem: for female sexuality, for knowing what you want and not being afraid to ask for it, for knowing your own worth, for recognizing that women can be powerful and spiritual and horny and whatever the hell else they want to be, all at once. Grande knows that there will be people who don’t get it, and she’s not particularly concerned with them. At one point in the video, she sits unbothered as small men hurl words like “bitch,” “fake” and “annoying” at her. They bounce right off of her, and she doesn’t even look at them. And that alone is enough to make “God Is a Woman” an anthem worth worshipping.

Families Belong Together March: Watch Incredible Speeches by Diane Guerrero, Kerry Washington, America Ferrera, and More

Tens of thousands gathered across the U.S. for Families Belong Together marches on Saturday, which took place in over 700 locations, including Boston, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. According to CNN, protesters organized around three main tenets: that families separated at the U.S. border be reunited immediately, that the government end family detention, and that President Donald Trump’s administration discontinue its zero-tolerance immigration policy.

A number of high-profile figures—including celebrities, politicians, and activists—took to the stage at various Families Belong Together marches to share their own stories of immigration and calls for change. America Ferrera spoke as a child of Honduran immigrants; Diane Guerrero shared her experience, having been separated from her family as a child; a 12-year-old named Leah opened up about her fears of losing her mom to deportation. Read on for some of the most poignant speeches from various events across the country.

Diane Guerrero in Washington, D.C.

“I am here today as a woman who as a young child was separated from her family,” Guerrero, who’s appeared on Orange Is the New Black and Jane the Virgin, told the crowd in Washington, D.C. “I am here today to be painfully honest about the damage these government policies do to human beings, do to kids. Even some 17 years later, I can still remember how it felt when I first cried out for my parents and they couldn’t answer. I have to believe that this an opportunity to rise above the tyranny, the ignorance, the malpractice and believe in change. This is a chance for us to come together as a nation and rise above division and fear. Only then can we stop the separation of families and stop the policies that place children in cages.”

Rep. Maxine Waters in Los Angeles

“How dare you?” Waters asked the Trump administration, in California. “How dare you take the babies from mothers’ arms? How dare you take the children and send them all across the country into so-called detention centers?”

“You are putting them in cages. You are putting them in jails,” the congresswoman continued. “And you think we’re going to stand by and allow you to do that? I don’t think so. Donald Trump, you think you can get away with everything, but you have gone too far when you are trying to break up families in the way that you do.”

Leah in Washington, D.C.

“I am here today because the government is separating and detaining refugee parents and children at the border who are looking for safety,” the 12-year-old said. “Our government also continues to separate U.S. citizen children like me from their parents every day. This is evil. It needs to stop. It makes me sad to know that children can’t be with their parents. I don’t understand why they’re being so mean to us children. Don’t they know how much we love our family? Don’t they have a family too? Why don’t they care about us children?”

“I live with the constant fear of losing my mom to deportation,” she continued. “My mom is strong, beautiful, and brave. She is also a person who taught me how to speak up when I see things that aren’t fair.”

“ICE wants to take away my mom from me. I don’t like to live with this fear,” Leah told the crowd. “It’s scary. I can’t sleep, I can’t study, I am stressed,” she told the crowd.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren in Boston

“The President’s deeply immoral actions have made it obvious: We need to rebuild our immigration system from top to bottom, starting by replacing ICE with something that reflects our morality and that works,” Warren said in her speech.

“President Trump seems to think the only way to have immigration rules is rip parents from their families, is to treat rape victims and refugees like terrorists and to put children in cages,” she told her constituents. “This is ugly, this is wrong, and this is not the way to run our country.”

America Ferrera in Washington, D.C.

“I am here not only as a brand new mother, as the proud child of Honduran immigrants and not only an American who sees it as her duty to be here defending justice,” the actress said. “I am here as a human being with a beating heart, who can feel pain, who understands compassion and who can easily imagine what it must feel like to struggle the way families are struggling right now. It is easy to imagine that I would hope that if it was my family being torn apart, if it was my brother being arbitrarily criminalized, if it was my sister who was being banned, that someone would stand up for me and my family.”

She continued: “It is that simple. This fight does not belong to one group of people, one color of people, one race of people, one gender — it belongs to all of us. What makes humans remarkable is our capacity to imagine. We have an imagination, let’s use it.”

Ferrara also read a letter from a grandfather who wants his separated granddaughter, who’s currently being held in Texas, to be able to live with him in California: “I got the impression the investigator thought I didn’t make enough money. I know I don’t make enough money, but I make enough to care for (you). Everything I have I will give to you.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda in Washington, D.C.

The Hamilton creator sang a lullaby for the kids separated from their parents to the crowd.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen in Los Angeles

“Making America great doesn’t mean building walls to keep people out; it means continuing to embrace the dreams of immigrants who add to our culture, our economy, and our humanity,” Teigen told the crowd while holding her son, Miles, before introducing her husband, John Legend. “Making America greater most definitely doesn’t mean turning asylum-seekers away or kidnapping their kids to turn them away from coming here.”

Legend performed a new song, “Preach,” which he introduced with a speech. He said: “If you’re committed to this kind of love, it means you believe in justice, but it’s not easy. It’s not a passive activity, it requires you opening your eyes to injustice. To see the world through the eyes of another you’ve got to read; you’ve got to travel to other neighborhoods and other parts of the world. You may have to get your hands dirty. You can’t just talk about it or tweet about it. You’ve got to do something.”

Alicia Keys in Washington, D.C.

“My seven-year-old son is here with me today. His name is Egypt. And I couldn’t even imagine not being able to find him,” Keys said. “I couldn’t even imagine being separated from him or scared about how he is being treated, so this is all of our fight, because if it can happen to any child, it can happen to my child and your child and all of our children.”

She continued by reading a letter from a mom who was separated from her child, which said, in part: “I had spent nights without sleep, searching and searching for my son, not knowing where he was, a torture day by day.”

“Our democracy is at stake,” Keys said, after finishing the letter. “Our humanity is at stake. We are out here to save the soul of our nation. We need all the children reunited to their parents. We demand to end the zero humanity policy. We need to save the Supreme Court and we need to vote, because when we vote, we win.”

Kerry Washington in New York City

“This country comes from immigration,” Washington began. “Slavery is a part of my legacy, I understand the legacy of family separation because slavery is a part of my story and so is immigration. My grandparents on my mother’s side came to this country through Ellis Island in the ’30s from the Caribbean, and they came here like every immigrant seeking better opportunities because of a lack of opportunity in their land — running from poverty, running from racism, running from a place where they couldn’t fulfill a dream. I am the fulfillment of their dream. And I will not stand for somebody else turning this country further down the road of racism and disenfranchisement. Enough is enough!”

She also read a letter from a migrant mother, Margarita, who had been separated from her son—he was in Kansas City, Missouri; she in Portland, Oregon: “‘First they tell you that in a few weeks you will have your child, then in a month then in another month, but they never fulfill their promises. With such delay, I have asked myself, what am I doing wrong? Have I not sent everything they asked for me? I want them to at least allow me to see him one day, if for a while. What mother would not want to have her son in her arms. If only for a moment.'”

Cher in Los Angeles

“What I really want to try to impress on you is to vote,” the singer said. “You know, I’ve been through 11 Presidents in my life, and I thought I saw everything, but I have never seen anything like this…. When I was little, women were not introduced by their name; they were introduced by their husband’s name—’this is Mrs. John Smith.’ We had no choice over our bodies when I was little… There was no birth control; there was no such thing as your husband raping you, you know? If a husband beat up his wife and the police came, they would just go, ‘Hey buddy, walk around, you know? Walk around the corner, cool off, and come back.’ So what I’m saying to women is get your friends and vote. Because if you don’t vote, you will not recognize this country and you will lose everything that you will just now take for granted, every right that you have. And I’m not being dramatic—well, maybe I am—but I mean it, OK? I’m trying to impress this upon you because you’ve been through a time, you live in time, when women have freedom. I remember a time when women didn’t have freedom, and I don’t want to see this happen to you.”

47 Black Artists From Netflix Came Together for an Incredible Video About Representation

Netflix is one of the most diverse platforms in entertainment, with hundreds of original titles featuring people of every race, gender, sexuality, and size—both onscreen and off. The streaming giant showcased its diversity last year during a BET Awards TV spot titled “It’s About Time” and a campaign called #FirstTimeISawMe, where black and Latinx talent from Netflix revealed when they first felt represented in entertainment. This year Netflix has a new ad, which aired during the 2018 BET Awards last night, that focuses specifically on black representation.

Photographer Kwaku Alston and director Lacey Duke brought together 47 black actors and creators of Netflix original content for a shoot inspired by the iconic 1958 portrait “A Great Day in Harlem.” Several fan favorites made appearances, including Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why), Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black), and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), who actually narrated the entire video.

“This is a new day,” McLaughlin says in the ad. “Built from the ground broken by legends. A day for our generation to see untold experiences of our blackness. Representing a limitless range of identity. Playing kings and queens of our neighborhoods. Defeating larger-than-life forces trying to flip our world upside down. We stand up on any stage and every screen. A day when black women are boldly the lead character, whether inmates or scholars. We’re not a genre because there’s no one way to be black. We’re writing while black. Nuanced and complex. Resilient and strong. This is not a moment. This is a movement. We are strong black leads. Today is a great day in Hollywood.”

Rose Leslie and Kit Harington Just Got Married, and Their Wedding Looks Incredible

As if our summer wedding calendar couldn’t get any better (looking at you, royal wedding for the ages), Game of ThronesKit Harington and Rose Leslie are officially hitched. They tied the knot Saturday in Scotland in front of family, friends, and their close cast mates from Game of Thrones.

“We are absolutely thrilled for Kit and Rose to be marrying today,” Leslie’s father, Sebastian, told Sky News on Saturday morning before the ceremony.

So are the couple’s GoT cast members—if the guest list is any indication, that is: Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Malin Akerman, Jack Donnelly, and Peter Dinklage all showed up at Rayne Church in the village of Kirkton of Rayne, Aberdeenshire, to celebrate their friends’ wedding.

The groom arrived at the church looking dapper in his tux and signature Jon Snow hair (the series is still being filmed). Shortly thereafter, Leslie followed suit, entering the church accompanied by her father and wearing a stunning long-sleeved Elie Saab lace gown.

Peep the pictures from their arrivals:
