January 10, 2019: Beckinsale slyly responds to an Instagram commenter who took a dig at her and Davidson. “Dear heavens, Kate. Not Pete Davidson,” the person wrote underneath a photo Beckinsale uploaded of her mom, Judy Loe. She simply responded, “No, that’s my mother. Easy mistake.”

February 12, 2019: A story comes out in Heat magazine with more details about Beckinsale and Davidson. “Pete is absolutely besotted…. He’s been showering her with gifts and burning up her phone,” a source told the publication. However, this person doesn’t seem to think the relationship will last. “She’ll get bored eventually and move on like she always does,” the source added. “That’ll leave Pete nursing a broken heart because he always falls hard and fast like this. Look at what happened with Ariana.”
February 16, 2019: Beckinsale shuts down yet another stranger who made a rude comment about her and Davidson. “Disappointed in your dating choices,” the user wrote, to which she replied, “Pretty let down by your wonky beard but thought possibly rude to say.”

March 5, 2019: More details about their relationship emerge. “Kate’s very into Pete,” an insider tells E! News. “You wouldn’t necessarily put them together, but it’s working for now. She’s excited about getting to know him and hoping to spend more time with him.” The source added, “He always has her laughing, and that’s a good feeling to have. They talk a lot and never run out of things to say.”
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are many things: hot, rich, occasionally robots, and, also, occasionally together. The two of them reportedly first started dating in November 2015, and ever since then it’s been a roller coaster of cute Instagram posts, sound bites, breakup rumors, and his-and-her Nutella jars. Us Weekly is currently reporting that the couple, who confirmed they were together in October, broke up recently. Of course, it’s best to not freak out until Hadid and Malik say something themselves. November 2015:Us Weekly reports Hadid and Malik are dating. They were photographed leaving Justin Bieber’s American Music Awards after-party together; a few days later, paparazzi caught them holding hands leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles.
January 2016: Malik says he and Hadid are just “good friends,” but evidence—i.e., his face on Hadid’s lock screen—points to the contrary. Hadid then makes an appearance in Malik’s “Pillowtalk” video, and they flirt back and forth on Twitter.

January 2019: Breakup rumors flare up, and E! News reports the twosome are spending time apart. “They are in different points in their lives right now and decided they needed the time to breathe apart from each other,” an “insider” tells the outlet. “They are still in touch and both hope that things will work out, but their relationship is always up and down.” Us Weekly is also reporting the two have broken up.
Simone Biles just did something no other woman has done before. On Thursday, Deadspin reported, the Olympic gymnast competed at the selection camp for the upcoming world championships, which will take place in Doha, Qatar. When it was her turn, Biles performed a vault that the site described as the Cheng vault (a “roundoff onto the board and half turn onto the table…with only one and a half twists off”) with an extra half twist. According to Deadspin, this variation on the Cheng vault has only ever been successfully performed in competition by male gymnasts, which means Biles just broke an incredible record.
Previously, Deadspin reported that the enhanced vault will be dubbed the “Biles” if she ends up performing it at the world championships. And it looks like she’ll be performing the move again later this month, because on Friday ESPN reported that the four-time gold medalist was announced to be headlining the team, which will be competing on behalf of Team USA in Doha.
According to ESPN, Biles’ teammates will include Morgan Hurd, Ragan Smith, Riley McCusker, Grace McCallum, and Kara Eaker. Hurd is a 2017 world all-around champion; Smith is a 2017 U.S. champion.
This is far from the first time Biles has made history. In August 2016, she became the first-ever female gymnast to lead Team USA in an Olympic closing ceremony, and only the second gymnast to ever have the honor (with the last having done so in 1936). Then, this past August she became the second woman ever to win five U.S. all-around titles, as well as the first one in 24 years to win gold in all four apparatus titles.
People still aren’t over the altercation between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B that went down at New York Fashion Week on September 7. For the uninitiated, here’s a quick backstory: According to several outlets, Cardi B reportedly became upset with Minaj after she heard the “Barbie Tingz” rapper was criticizing her skills as a mother. TMZ captured video of Cardi B shouting and lunging toward someone believed to be Minaj. Shoes were thrown. It was a heaping pile of drama that tabloids and social media users alike ate up the next day—and the days that followed. What started out as a media-fabricated feud between the two rapers quickly morphed into something real.
But there wasn’t always bad blood between Minaj and Cardi B. In fact, it was around this time last year that Minaj publicly congratulated Cardi B about “Bodak Yellow” reaching number one. The journey from then to now is intense, so let’s revisit it and hope these talented women reach a resolution soon. And by that, we mean a duet.

March 2017: Minaj reportedly “likes” a post on Instagram poking fun at Cardi B’s rapping style. However, many think this was the result of Photoshop trickery. Shortly after, a screen-shot popped up online of Minaj liking a tweet claiming the supposed Instagram diss was fake.
May 2017: Minaj seemingly takes a swipe at Cardi B in Katy Perry’s song “Swish Swish.” “Silly rap beefs just get me more checks / My life is a movie, I’m never off set / Me and my amigos (no, not Offset),” she says, which many took as a reference to Cardi B’s husband (Migos rapper Offset).

May 2017: After “Swish Swish,” dropped, Cardi B rants on Instagram Live about “idols becoming rivals.” “I hate this shit, I really, really do,” Cardi said, according to People. “A bitch like me, I was happier when I was macking in the hood. This shit right here is so fake. When I used to be a regular bitch from the Bronx — a hood bitch — when somebody used to be fake to me it was cool because I could approach a bitch and punch her right in her closure… Now that I’m in the industry, you don’t work like that, just have to watch shit go, watch shit go.”
June 2017: Cardi B tweets a friendly reminder not to compare her to other artists.
July 2017: Minaj low-key shows her support for Cardi B by dancing to “Bodak Yellow” in a nightclub.
August 2017: Minaj lays down a verse on London on da Track’s song “No Flags” (featuring Offset and 21 Savage) that some viewed as shade toward Cardi B. “I heard these labels are trying to make another me / Everything you’re getting little hoe is because of me,” Minaj raps in the song. The timing was interesting, seeing as how Cardi B had just inked a deal with Atlantic Records. Minaj cleared the air, though, when she tweeted that she wrote the verse several months prior.
Soon after, Cardi B tweeted, “I don’t bother with these hoes, Don’t let these hoes BOTHER Me,” which fans viewed as a response to this drama. (These are, admittedly, just lyrics to “Bodak Yellow,” so maybe people read too much into the tweet.)
August 2017: Cardi B clears up any rumors she’s feuding with other women in the industry. “I mean, I don’t really want problems with anybody,” she told Billboard. “I don’t want to be, like, queen. I don’t wanna be no this. I don’t wanna be no that. I just wanna make music and make money. I really don’t have time to look at other women, what they doing. I’m myself, you know what I’m saying? Nobody got a problem with me. I don’t got a problem with them. If somebody got a problem I don’t really got to do that whole industry beef. Like, you know, I get it popping with these hands.”

September 2017: Cardi B says a few pointed things in her verse for G. Eazy’s song “No Limit.” “My career takin’ off / These hoes jogging in place / Swear these hoes run they mouth / How these hoes out of shape? / Can you stop with all the subs? / Bitch I ain’t Jared,” she says. In an interview on The Breakfast Club, Cardi B said the song wasn’t about anyone in particular and denied any beef with Minaj. “She ain’t never f—ed my man,” she said.

September 2017: Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” hits number one, making her the first female rapper to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1998. “Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it??? @iamcardib,” Minaj tweeted at Cardi B, to which she responded, “Thank you!! This means sooo much coming from you!! ❤️.”
October 2017: Cardi B and Nicki Minaj are featured on the same song, “MotorSport,” alongside the band Migos. In a stream of since-deleted tweets, Minaj shut down any rumblings that she had an issue with Cardi’s appearance on the song.
Cardi later claimed in an interview that Minaj’s verse wasn’t finished when she jumped on “MotorSport.” Keep that in mind for what happens next.
April 2018: Cardi B and Minaj give separate interviews to Beats 1 addressing their relationship and supposed “feud.” “I just feel like it’s really internet-made-up,” Cardi B said. “I really feel like fans and people, they really want to see that happened, because it’s really entertaining to see people beef. It’s entertaining. Like, I ain’t gonna front, when Nicki and Remy [Ma] was beefing, everyone was tuning and asking, ‘What’s next? What’s next?’…But I don’t really have the time for that. If you not f—ing my man, or if you’re not taking my money from me, if you’re not stopping my money, then I don’t really give a f— about you.”
Minaj was a little more direct with her interview. “The only thing with Cardi that really, really, really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after ‘MotorSport’ came out,” she said. “The first interview she did after ‘MotorSport’ came out, it just really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry and the only thing she said was, ‘Oh, I didn’t hear that. I didn’t hear that verse.’ I was like, what? … That really, really hurt me. I really, fully supported [Cardi] and up until this recent interview I did, I had never seen her show me genuine love in an interview and I can imagine how many girls wish they could’ve been on a song with Nicki Minaj.”

August 2018: Minaj brings up her supposed feud with Cardi B again on her own show Queen Radio. “I didn’t know Cardi and I had an issue,” she said. “To me, she may have taken an issue with things that I’ve said, but I’m not going to bite my tongue…You gotta have thick skin.”
At the end of the month, Cardi B tweets cryptically, “Imagine subbing me but you blocked me from all social media.” And it seems, at least for a short period of time, that Minaj had blocked Cardi B on Twitter.
September 2018: The fight between Minaj and Cardi B goes down at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party during New York Fashion Week. Details are fuzzy, despite the fact there’s video footage of the altercation. In an Instagram post, Cardi B explains the straw that broke the camel’s back was hearing Minaj talking smack about her baby with Offset, Kulture. (For what it’s worth, Minaj denies saying anything at all.)
“I’ve let a lot of shit slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, f–k up the way I eat! You’ve threaten other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop f–king with them!! I let you talk big shit about me,” Cardi B wrote.
“I just want people to know that Onika Tanya Maraj has never, will never… speak ill on anyone’s child. I am not a clown. That’s clown shit,” Minaj said about the altercation several days later on her radio show.
September 2018: In a final move of pettiness, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj choose to publicly endorse different Democratic governor candidates for New York.
We have another whirlwind romance on our hands, my friends. People magazine reports Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are now engaged after just two months of dating. To be clear, this is just a report since Chopra and Jonas haven’t confirmed anything yet. In fact, they haven’t even confirmed their relationship in general. Still, the Internet’s freaking out over this because Jonas and Chopra are a (very) hot couple no one saw coming, which makes this engagement even more of a surprise.
In honor of this joyous occasion, let’s look back at their relationship history, starting with when they brought the fire emoji to life at the 2017 Met Gala.
May 2017: Chopra and Jonas attend the 2017 Met Gala together and set off a firestorm of dating rumors. They each played it coy, though, when asked about their relationship in interviews following the event “Yeah, we were on the same table and we already know each other,” Chopra told Jimmy Kimmel. “So he was like, ‘Hey, you wanna go [to the Met Gala] together?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, OK, let’s go together.’ It ended up working out.” Jonas doubled down on this, telling a radio station, “I’m single. [Chopra] and I knew each other from before.”
May 2018: Fast-forward to one year later—Memorial Day weekend—and the dating chatter intensifies again. Us Weekly publishes a report claiming Chopra and Jonas are seeing each other. “It’s a good match and they are both interested in each other,” a source told the publication.
Chopra and Jonas’ activities over Memorial Day weekend seemed to corroborate this report. The first person hired as an actor on Saturday Night Live was a woman: Gilda Radner, one of the most iconic female comedians. She stayed on SNL for five years—totaling 107 episodes—and left behind a laugh-out-loud legacy that paved the way for dozens of comedians. She was a game-changer, as are the other women who got their start on SNL.
From Tina Fey to Julia Louis-Dreyfus to our cover star Kate McKinnon, SNL has launched the careers of so many important performers. The show still has work to do in terms of achieving full equality—but these women have certainly helped move that dial forward. Below, a guide to historic milestones women have achieved on SNL.
1975: Gilda Radner is Lorne Michaels’ first hire for the inaugural season of SNL. “I felt there was a remarkable quality to her,” Michaels said of Radner to The New York Times. “A goodness which came through whatever she was doing.” In 1978, Radner won a Primetime Emmy Award for Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for her work on SNL.

1975: Candice Bergen is the first woman to host SNL. She routinely hosted after this, and actually became the first woman to join the Five-Timers Club when she helmed a broadcast in 1990. (The Five-Timers Club is a group of celebrities who’ve hosted SNL at least five times.)
1976:Weekend Update hires its first female co-host: Jane Curtin. Known for her deadpan delivery, Curtin was the perfect foil to the guests and co-hosts’ antics. Years later, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Curtin opened up about how SNL was a tough place for women to work at times. She alleged that one cast member, John Belushi, was particularly harsh toward female writers.
“They were working against John, who said women are just fundamentally not funny,” Curtin said. “You’d go to a table read and if a woman writer had written a piece for John, he would not read it in his full voice. He would whisper it,” she says. “He felt as though it was his duty to sabotage pieces that were written by women.”

1978: Yvonne Hudson is the first black woman to appear on SNL. She started with guest appearances and was eventually bumped up to a feature player for the 1980-1981 season.
1982: At 21, Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes history for being the youngest female performer to join SNL. In 2012, she relayed a story to journalist Adam Baer about when NBC executives urged her to straighten her hair so she’d appear more “attractive” on screen.
“I was called into one of our producers’ offices (as a side note, I should say that I have naturally curly hair), and he said to me, ‘Julia, I got a call from a bunch of NBC executives after last night’s show, and they said that after seeing your hair straight, they all wanna fuck you.’ This was apparently his way of trying to entice me into straightening my hair for the rest of season,” she said. “Needless to say: I was young and naïve, but I was so shocked that anyone would say anything like that, I just burst out laughing in a hysterical way. I didn’t know what else to do.”
Louis-Dreyfus didn’t change her hair. She did something even better: made Elaine’s curly hair one of her signature traits on Seinfeld. “I was saying: ‘Not only is this hair going to be curly, it’s going to be crazy curly. Take that, motherfucker,'” she said.

1985:SNL makes Danitra Vance its first black female repertory player. She stayed on until 1986.
1993: Sarah Silverman turns her SNL fumble into an amazing career. According to Business Insider, none of Silverman’s sketches made it to air when she was a writer for SNL in the ’90s, and after just one season as a featured player she was fired. But Silverman turned water into wine and scored gigs on HBO’s Mr. Show and The Larry Sanders Show before getting her own series in 2007.
1999: Molly Shannon releases Superstar. There are several movies that came out of SNL sketches, but Superstar is the first one to star and focus on a woman (Shannon).

1999: Tina Fey soars as SNL’s first female head writer. She left her post in 2006 to develop 30 Rock.
2001: Amy Poehler becomes the first woman to be promoted from a featured to repertory cast member just halfway through her inaugural season. The only other cast member to do that before her was Eddie Murphy.
2004: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey join forces as the first all-female Weekend Update team. Their reign ended when Fey left in 2006 and, unfortunately, there hasn’t been a female-female duo since.

2008: Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin impression takes on a life of its own. The bit was so impressionable that one group of political scientists suggested it may’ve actually affected Palin and John McCain’s performance in the 2008 presidential election.
2009: Kristen Wiig appears in more sketches for SNL season 34 than any other cast member: 124. The person directly behind her was Jason Sudeikis with 99.
2014: Leslie Jones and Sasheer Zamata join the cast at the same time—an SNL milestone. This came after Keenan Thompson announced he’d no longer perform in drag until SNL hired two black female cast members. Zamata left the show in 2017, but Jones is still on.

2017: Kate McKinnon wins the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the second time. She’s the only woman in SNL history to win twice in a row.
2017: Please welcome your first black female host, Tiffany Haddish. It’s crazy that it took this long.
