Priyanka Chopra Just Hinted That Meghan Markle Cried When She Found Her Wedding Dress

After months of playing coy, Priyanka Chopra finally confirmed last week that she will, indeed, be attending her friend Meghan Markle‘s fast-approaching wedding to Prince Harry.

And now that the floodgates have been opened, the Quantico actress is spilling all kinds of royal wedding tea. On Thursday, May 3 Chopra appeared on Watch What Happens Live, where host Andy Cohen asked her a few questions about Meghan, Harry, and their upcoming nuptials. When Chopra wasn’t able to answer a question, Cohen did his best to interpret her facial expressions and, in the process, uncovered a few secrets about the royal lovebirds.

The questions that Chopra was able to answer included whether she’d ever met Prince Harry (nope); if she, like Markle, likes “a ginge” (“Red hair is kinda my thing,” Chopra said); and if she’d bought a wedding present (not yet). Much more telling were the questions she couldn’t answer. When Cohen asked if Markle is “a bridezilla,” Chopra did an exaggerated shrug and raised her hands, which Cohen interpreted as a diplomatic no. Cohen then asked Chopra if the Suits actress had cried when she said yes to her wedding dress. In a pretty easy-to-understand nonverbal response, Chopra burst into a huge grin, covered her face in her hands, and broke into a silent fit of giggles. Like the rest of us, Cohen took that to mean a resounding yes, making Markle even more relatable.

What exactly that dress looks like, though, is still a mystery and will likely remain one to us and Prince Harry until the big day. So far Victoria Beckham and Vera Wang have denied rumors that they will be designing the dress, but that’s all the info we know.

At the end of April, Chopra, who met Markle at Elle‘s Women in Television event in 2016, finally admitted that she’ll be in London to celebrate her friend’s wedding come May 19, but added that she still has yet to choose an outfit. “I sort of may have an idea,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “But no, I haven’t picked one out yet.” This week Chopra went on to reveal that she and Markle have kept in touch since the soon-to-be duchess moved from Toronto to London. “She still texts a lot, which is great,” Chopra said on Rachael Ray’s talk show on Wednesday, adding, “I think she has a phone. She really is a [normal girl].”

Priyanka Chopra Says Her Friend Meghan Markle Still Texts 'A Lot'

Priyanka Chopra and Meghan Markle have been good friends for about three years now. They’ve seen Hamilton together. They’ve posed for selfies. They’re the real deal. In fact, Chopra’s come to Markle’s defense several times when the duchess-to-be is labeled as just “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.” We know Chopra’s going to the royal wedding this month, but she’s remained tight-lipped about if she’s a bridesmaid or what she’s wearing.

What we do know, though, is that Chopra and Markle are still in regular communication. Contrary to popular belief, Markle didn’t have to give up all technology when she entered the royal family. (This isn’t prison, people!) She still has her cell phone, and she and Chopra apparently text all the time.

“She still texts a lot, which is great,” Chopra told Rachael Ray during an interview on the chef’s talk show Wednesday (May 2).

The Quantico actress laughed at Ray’s suggestion that the royal family confiscated Markle’s phone. “I think she has a phone. She really is a [normal girl],” Chopra said.

Last month, Chopra wrote a lovely tribute essay about Markle for Time magazine—the former Suits star was named one of the publication’s 100 most influential people—and she echoed similar sentiments during her chat with Ray. “She’s such a girl’s girl, and I’ve known her for three years now,” Chopra said. “I’m so happy for everything that’s happened to her, because I really feel like she’s one of those female icons that I feel could be a strong idol for girls around the world, because she really cares about the world. Really cares.”

Watch Chopra discuss all this for yourself, below:

FWIW, Meghan and Priyanka: I’m very down to start a group chat with you guys.

Priyanka Chopra Confirms She's Attending Her Good Friend Meghan Markle's Wedding

It’s official: Priyanka Chopra is attending her good friend Meghan Markle wedding to Prince Harry. The Quantico actress confirmed the news to Us Weekly on Wednesday (April 25).

Granted, Chopra didn’t tell the magazine much. At this point, all we know is that she’s attending. Chopra doesn’t even know what she’s wearing. “I sort of may have an idea,” Chopra told Us Weekly. “But no, I haven’t picked one out yet.”

This news, while exciting, shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Markle and Chopra have been friends for years. In fact, the Baywatch star has come to Markle’s defense several times in the press—including when Wendy Williams referred to her as just “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.”

“I’ve known Meghan for three years, and I’m so happy the way the world has responded to her because as long as I’ve known her…she is a relatable young woman of the world today,” Chopra also told Us Weekly. “She’s that girl who thinks out of the box. She has always been an activist. She has always had a strong voice. She’s an ambitious girl of today. I think the world needs strong role models like Meghan. I think, I hope, Meghan will end up being one of those people.”

Chopra expressed similar kind sentiments about Markle in an essay for Time magazine. (Markle and Prince Harry were included in the publication’s annual 100 Most Influential People list.) “With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place,” Chopra wrote of her soon-to-be duchess friend.

The royal wedding guest list is, by and large, still a mystery; however, it’s slowly but surely trickling out. In addition to Chopra, Kensington Palace announced a few weeks back that Markle and Prince Harry invited about 3,000 members of the British public to their nuptials. It’s also safe to assume Prince Harry’sfamily members—like Prince William, Kate Middleton, and, of course, the Queen—will also be in attendance.

TBH, I’m still waiting for my invitation to arrive in the mail.

Priyanka Chopra Calls Meghan Markle a ‘Princess for the People’ in Touching Tribute

Priyanka Chopra has talked openly about her friendship with Meghan Markle in the past. In fact, she was one of the first people to defend Markle when people started referring to her as simply “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.” There’s talk Chopra may even be a bridesmaid in Markle’s upcoming wedding, though that’s unconfirmed at this point. Regardless, these women are tight. I mean, they saw Hamilton on Broadway together—and that experience bonds you for life.

So it’s only fitting Chopra wrote a little something about Markle after the soon-to-be-royal was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People (which also includes Prince Harry, by the way.) What Chopra wrote isn’t very long, but it does express the warm affection she has for her good friend. “Somewhere among biryani, poutine and endless conversations, I realized just how deeply Meghan Markle cares for the world,” Chopra wrote for Time. “With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place.”

Chopra said Markle has a natural drive and compassion that will “connect her to a generation in much need of kindness.” She briefly touched on the former Suits star’s philanthropic work and noted how she continues to smash stereotypes, both in the royal family and beyond.

Of course, the Quantico actress did make a nod to Prince Harry. “This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy tales again,” Chopra wrote. “But more than anything else, Meghan is an important influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to.”

How Chopra ended her tribute to Markle may or may not make you cry. (I’m low-key sniffling, but don’t judge me because I also cry at, like, movie trailers.) “Meghan, standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people,” Chopra wrote, and then concluded with, “Love always, my friend. Live happily ever after.”

And cue the water works. Chopra should 2,000 percent recite this blurb, verbatim, at Markle and Prince Harry’s reception on May 19.

Priyanka Chopra Says She Was Once Passed Over for a Role Because of Her Skin Color

Get ready for another major groan in Hollywood’s direction: Baywatch and Quantico star Priyanka Chopra recently said that she feels she once didn’t get a part in a movie because of the color of her skin.

Chopra, who grew up in India, spoke to InStyle in honor of Equal Pay Day to discuss the gender wage gap, a cause that she’s been vocal about in the past—especially as it relates to women of color. “No one will say that a woman is getting paid less because she’s a woman of color, but the numbers mostly end up reflecting that,” she told the magazine.

Then she went on to say she thinks she was passed over for a role because of the color of her skin. “It happened last year,” she says. “I was out for a movie, and somebody [from the studio] called one of my agents and said, ‘She’s the wrong’—what word did they use?—’physicality.'” Understandably, she was confused. “So in my defense as an actor, I’m like, ‘Do I need to be skinnier? Do I need to get in shape? Do I need to have abs?’ Like, what does ‘wrong physicality’ mean?” Chopra said. “And then my agent broke it down for me. Like, ‘I think, Priy, they meant that they wanted someone who’s not brown,'” she told InStyle.

“It affected me,” she said.

In 2017, the actress opened up to Allure about her experiences growing up. “[My skin] is as complicated as I am. When I was growing up, I didn’t see anyone on TV who looked like me,” she said, noting that it was also hard to find makeup in a shade that suited her back then. “Everyone in America wants to get a tan, and everyone in Asia wants to get their skin lightened. I straddle both countries. Girls there are told that they’re too dark or dusky and that lighter skin is better. Because I’m a darker tone, I had issues growing up as a teenager.”

Now, though, she views her skin color as an asset, regardless of what certain people in the movie industry may have said. “I’ve achieved what I’ve achieved, and skin color has nothing to do with it—in fact, it might have been an asset,” she told Allure. “I like the color of my skin very much.”

Meghan Markle Is 'Just Right' for Royalty, According to Priyanka Chopra

As if Meghan Markle hasn’t already shaken things up enough at Buckingham Palace, her good friend Priyanka Chopra believes we haven’t seen anything yet. In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, the Quantico actress spoke about all the good she believes Markle will bring to the royal family.

“It’s natural for people to be like, ‘Oh that’s Prince Harry’s girlfriend,’ but she’s a lot more as well,” Chopra said. “I don’t think anybody else would be able to do it the way she will. She’s just right for it.” Chopra continued, “She’s an icon, truly, that girls can look up to, that women can look up to. She’s normal, she’s sweet, she’s nice, she thinks about the world, wants to change it. And this was even before any of this happened. So I do think Meghan being a part of the royal family is a big step in the direction of so many things: of women, of feminism, of diversity, of race, of the monarchy versus everyone else. It’s a beautiful step in the right direction.”

And before you ask, Chopra refused to spill the beans about whether she’s received her invite to the royal wedding in May. “If you see me there, you’ll know,” was her cryptic answer when pressed by Bazaar. Hm!

Chopra, who met Markle at Elle‘s Women in Television dinner a few years ago, has previously defended her friend’s right to be recognized for her own achievements rather than for who she’s dating. In September, shortly after Vanity Fair published a cover story, titled “Meghan Markle, Wild About Harry!” in which Markle was mainly described in terms of her relationship with Prince Harry, Chopra criticized the story in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t know if I will get into trouble for this, but I have an opinion,” she said. “I mean, she’s on the cover of Vanity Fair. It would have been nice to write about her, not just her boyfriend. I’m just saying. I mean, she’s an actor, she’s an activist, she’s a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more.” She added, “It’s just a little sexist. Look, I’m a feminist and I love boys, okay. The only thing I’m saying is that there needs to be a certain sense of equality where a woman is not just a plus one, you know. It’s nice to be your own identity, too.”
