Stassi Schroeder: My Friends Will Complain About Attending My Destination Wedding—And That’s Okay

Everyone’s been nice to my face about having to travel for our wedding, which I think is typical. No one’s going to tell you, “Ugh, that’s not ideal.” They’ll just talk behind my back—and that’s totally fine! I want to put on my wedding invitation,“If you cannot make it, if this is too overwhelming for you, seriously don’t come. We’re okay with that! Let’s go to dinner when we get back and celebrate privately. It is totally freaking fine if you think this is too much.”

The real challenge? That it’ll be filmed for Vanderpump Rules. When we went to Rome to scout locations, we took our wedding planners and our producer along. The issue is finding locations that are willing to film, which you’d think would be easy. But our first choice said no. It even affects the hotels. They have to sign off before I’m allowed to tell our guests where they can stay. Right now I’m waiting every single day to hear whether or not our venue has signed the Vanderpump Rules contract. Until then, we can’t start the actual planning. It’s at the point where both Beau and I said, “If we don’t get this venue, we’re just going to call it quits and go to the courthouse!”

Our venue, if the contracts go through, will be Villa Miani. What I love about it: We wanted an outdoor wedding that overlooks the city at dusk—at night you can see the whole city of Rome in lights. It’s so romantic. Again, we’re making people come all the way to Rome. Let’s give them a Roman experience!

As far as other activities, that’s something we have to plan with Vanderpump Rules in mind—because we have to be able to film it. People think that when you get married on TV, it’s like, “Oh, they just take care of it.” No, they do not take care of anything at all. It’s double the amount of hustle for us, and Bravo doesn’t pay for anything.

It’s frustrating at times: Beau and I are paying for the wedding ourselves. It’s our money, but I’m being told I can’t have my first choice in things. Sometimes I feel like, What am I doing this for? Why am I even going to film this? But at the same time, this is my life. I grew up on Vanderpump Rules. I started it in my early 20s. Now I’m in my early 30s, and all of my best friends are on the show. We’ve had the same crew for eight years—they’re like family to us. It’s my job, and my way of life, to show as much of my life as possible. I know that I’m lucky to have it all documented, and I’ll be able to share it with so many people once it airs.

So if I can’t get my first choice, then it’s fine. Beau’s on the same page as me: We don’t want to get too excited until we have something concrete. We’re constantly calling our producers and trying to figure out when we’ll have an answer. Until then, we’re both like, “Let’s focus on work and everything else right now.”

Here's Why Queen Elizabeth Isn't Attending Baby Archie's Christening

It’s a big weekend for baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor: The mini royal is going follow tradition and be christened on Saturday, July 6 at Queen Elizabeth’s private chapel in Windsor Castle. We don’t know a lot about the ceremony itself, however: Archie’s parents, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, reportedly want to keep the day private and reserved for an intimate group of friends and family. They’re even going so far as to keep cameras totally away from the event—minus one royal photographer—versus allowing them to photograph arrivals and departures as they did at Archie’s baptism, a decision that’s causing some controversy. And while the total number of invitees will reportedly be around 25 and include truly the nearest and dearest to little family, there’s one very important figure who will be missing from the day’s events: Archie’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Of course, the queen has a very valid excuse to be missing Archie’s milestone day: The royal calendars got crossed. According to The Daily Mail, the Queen had booked this weekend long ago so she could escape to Sandringham for a getaway with her husband, Prince Philip (which is kind of adorable). The paper reports that Meghan and Harry made plans for a Friday, July 5 christening with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, and the mystery godparents before discovering that Harry’s dad, Prince Charles, already had plans (he was commemorating a half-century of being Prince of Wales in, well, Wales). So, they pushed it to Saturday, July 6 so Charles could come before finding out that the Queen and Prince Philip had had their visit in the diary for awhile. According to the Mail, the Queen decided to “bow out graciously.”

This isn’t the first time the Queen’s skipped a royal baby life event—she had to miss Prince Louis’ baptism last year, too, and a few other christenings. However, according to the Mail, “it is understood that she would have liked to be present for the first big celebration for Harry’s first child.”

Although it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing the Queen in whatever adorable family photos are released from the big day, at least we can take comfort in the fact that even royals, with all their assistants, have trouble getting everyone in the family in the same place at the same time.

Meghan Markle: Sadly, My Father Will Not Be Attending the Royal Wedding

It’s official: Meghan Markle‘s father, Thomas Markle, isn’t attending the royal wedding.

Meghan released a statement through Kensington Palace on Thursday (May 17) confirming this news. “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding,” Meghan said. “I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

She continued, “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”

See the message for yourself, below:

Meghan mentioning Thomas’ health seems to also confirm what TMZ’s been reporting for days: that he had a heart attack last week and had surgery on Wednesday (May 16). Thomas spoke to TMZ on Wednesday, saying that his surgery was successful. “I’m OK,” he said, according to the outlet. “It will take a long time to heal. Staying in the hospital a few more days. Not allowed to get excited.”

Meghan’s statement comes after a week of reports surrounding her father. On Saturday (May 12), The Daily Mail published footage that implied Thomas staged paparazzi photos of himself that went viral. After the incident, Thomas told TMZ he was dropping out of his royal wedding duties to avoid embarrassing his daughter and the royal family. However, after speaking to Meghan, he said he had a change of heart and wanted to attend the nuptials. His heart, sadly, is what’s keeping Thomas at home. (Still confused? Here’s a full breakdown of the Thomas Markle drama.)

Thomas was supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle on her big day, so now that position seems to be open. It’s possible her mother, Doria Ragland, will escort Meghan. Who knows, though: Maybe Meghan will just walk herself down the aisle, which would be great, too.

Priyanka Chopra Confirms She's Attending Her Good Friend Meghan Markle's Wedding

It’s official: Priyanka Chopra is attending her good friend Meghan Markle wedding to Prince Harry. The Quantico actress confirmed the news to Us Weekly on Wednesday (April 25).

Granted, Chopra didn’t tell the magazine much. At this point, all we know is that she’s attending. Chopra doesn’t even know what she’s wearing. “I sort of may have an idea,” Chopra told Us Weekly. “But no, I haven’t picked one out yet.”

This news, while exciting, shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Markle and Chopra have been friends for years. In fact, the Baywatch star has come to Markle’s defense several times in the press—including when Wendy Williams referred to her as just “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.”

“I’ve known Meghan for three years, and I’m so happy the way the world has responded to her because as long as I’ve known her…she is a relatable young woman of the world today,” Chopra also told Us Weekly. “She’s that girl who thinks out of the box. She has always been an activist. She has always had a strong voice. She’s an ambitious girl of today. I think the world needs strong role models like Meghan. I think, I hope, Meghan will end up being one of those people.”

Chopra expressed similar kind sentiments about Markle in an essay for Time magazine. (Markle and Prince Harry were included in the publication’s annual 100 Most Influential People list.) “With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place,” Chopra wrote of her soon-to-be duchess friend.

The royal wedding guest list is, by and large, still a mystery; however, it’s slowly but surely trickling out. In addition to Chopra, Kensington Palace announced a few weeks back that Markle and Prince Harry invited about 3,000 members of the British public to their nuptials. It’s also safe to assume Prince Harry’sfamily members—like Prince William, Kate Middleton, and, of course, the Queen—will also be in attendance.

TBH, I’m still waiting for my invitation to arrive in the mail.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber Are Now Attending Bible Studies Together

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are the most couple-y maybe-couple in Hollywood. Don’t know what that means? Well, it’s the phenomenon where two celebrities don’t confirm their relationship, but galavant all across town doing things only boyfriends and girlfriends do. This, in a nutshell, describes Gomez and Bieber in 2018. They’ve gone on laughably-staged bike rides together, candy store vacations, and house parties—all while staying frustratingly mum on their relationship status. The proof is in the pudding, though: I mean, Gomez has worn Bieber’s sweaty hockey jersey on multiple occasions. You don’t do that unless it’s capital L-O-V-E.

And we can add this latest outing to the mountain of evidence that “Jelena 3.0” is alive and well. Photographers caught Gomez and Bieber attending a Bible study together January 31, which is very on-brand for them these days, seeing as how they reportedly reconnected at Hillsong Church. You know what they say: First comes Disney puppy love, then comes a messy breakup followed by a reconciliation sponsored by Jesus himself.

Check out two of the photos from last night, below. In the first, Bieber is clearly thinking, “Wow, I’m so excited about church and the fact Selena’s in this car with me.” Meanwhile, Selena’s thinking, “Where TF is my phone?”

“Sorry, Justin, I can’t look at you unless you’re wearing a Wizards of Waverly Place T-shirt”—what (I hope) Gomez is thinking in the photo, below.

Their date didn’t end with God, though. After they got their Bible on, Gomez headed to the ice rink to watch Bieber play yet another hockey game. It was no-doubt sweaty, which probably made both Gomez and Bieber happy.

Hashtag-blessed, am I right? Who knew Bible studies and sweat were the two things Gomez and Bieber needed to rekindle their flame?
