Ariana Grande Just Shut Down People Who Say She's 'Milking' Mac Miller's Death

Ariana Grande has had a year filled with highs and lows: Following her split with rapper Mac Miller, she began dating, got several tattoos with, and then was quickly engaged to Saturday Night Life cast member Pete Davidson. The two, however, broke up in mid-October shortly after the death of Miller. Grande has intermittently posted about Miller since his passing, a sign she’s thinking of him and working through her grief over his unexpected death.

But Grande being Grande, practically anything she posts on social media makes headlines—and her posts about Miller have been no exception. Most of Grande’s Twitter followers are fans who give their support and love, but there are, of course, a few bad eggs that think it’s appropriate to question whether her posts about Miller are genuine. It even got to the point over Thanksgiving weekend that Grande had to defender herself against them.

On Thanksgiving one user posted “She milkin this shit bruh,” along with a Complex story about a Miller tribute Grande had shared on her Instagram stories that day.

Grande saw this comment—and followed it up with a beautiful response: “i pray you never have to deal with anything like this ever and i’m sending you peace and love,” she wrote.

She then followed it up with a string of tweets urging people not to use Twitter to spread hate. “some of the shit i read on here makes me sick to my stomach. it scares me the way some people think and i don’t like this world a lot of the time. if only we could be more compassionate and gentle with one another. that’d be sick,” she wrote, adding, “like fuck” to emphasize her point.

She also got some love from Halsey: “ari the world could only dream of being as compassionate and gentle as you. and since ur being, as always, so classy and nice, allow me the honor of telling them to shut the fuck up,” the singer wrote.

Grande finished by reminding everyone that however she chooses to grieve is absolutely fine. “everything i feel is valid and safe. everything i do is genuine and honest. there is no right or wrong during this period,” she wrote.

True to Ari form, she signed off by keeping it positive: “sending u all a shit ton of love,” then adding “peace.”

Props to Grande for sending some much-needed positivity back into the world, even when the trolls are trolling.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson Apparently Have Matching Breakup Tattoos

It looks like Ariana Grande has said “Thank U, Next” to another one of the tattoos she got when she and Pete Davidson were coupled up. During the course of their short-lived but loved-up romance, Pete got a number of tattoos for Ariana—including a pair of her Dangerous Woman bunny ears on his neck. But right before their split became official in October, Pete covered his neck tat with a, gasp, black heart.

Here’s the before:

And the after, captured during an SNL skit:

Now, a sneak peek from her much-anticipated rom-com-inspired music video for the chart-topping song reveal that there’s a new tiny black heart on her finger, right where she used to have Pete’s initials.

Check it out—right on the cover of her take on Mean Girls‘ “Burn Book”:

The black heart, by the way, is the same emoji she’s been using in her tweets and to promote “Thank U, Next“.

But this isn’t the first tattoo that’s been covered up. Ariana’s also continued to ink over her other Pete tats: Her “Reborn” one, for example, is now a sprig of lavender.

It’s believed that Ariana still has a “Lumos” tattoo that she got for Pete’s love of Harry Potter, Pete’s late father’s fire department badge number on her foot, and the two’s matching “H2GKMO” tat, which stands for “Honest to God, knock me out.” Covered-up tats or nah, we’re glad the couple seems to be processing and healing from this rollercoaster of a time.

Ariana Grande Just Clapped Back at Piers Morgan So Hard It Deserves a Round of Applause

This Thanksgiving, I’m extremely grateful for Ariana Grande. First she teased the upcoming music video for her instantly iconic breakup song, “Thank U, Next” which will include homages to a quartet of equally iconic movies: Legally Blonde, 13 Going On 30, Mean Girls, and Bring It On. Now she’s taking down British television host and frequent troll Piers Morgan in such a brilliant way that I stood up and gave her a slow clap from my living room.

Here’s the gist of how it all started: Earlier this week, Morgan tweeted about Ellen Degeneres admiring photos of men and tried to call it out as “hypocrisy” in feminism. “Ellen drooling today over famous men’s bodies on #InternationalMensDay2018,” he wrote. “Yet I’ve been abused all day for complimenting @hollywills on her legs. The hypocrisy of modern feminism laid bare.”

Then he came for Little Mix:

Guess who didn’t like what he had to say? Joan Grande, Ariana’s mom. “Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan ? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it,” she tweeted. “You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And…well never mind.”

Morgan, of course, had some thoughts on that:

Enter one of social media’s most revered queens: Ariana Grande, who was ready to defend Ellen, Little Mix, and a woman’s right to do as she chooses with her own body. “Ellen is an incredible & kind human being.. I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to,” she wrote. “women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice. & we will keep fighting til people understand. i say this w all due respect but thank u, next.”

But was she finished? Oh no, she was not. She told Little Mix to “keep fighting the fight divas” and then came back for Morgan:

Next, she turned the tables on him with a semi-naked photo he’d posted.

Morgan is continuing to tweet at Grande, hoping perhaps that she’ll appear on his show.

But Grande’s already made her point and moved on. Or as she puts it, “Next.”

Reese Witherspoon Responded to Ariana Grande's 'Legally Blonde' Post in the Most Elle Woods Way

Ariana Grande has always been a massive Legally Blonde fan, so it makes sense that her “Thank U, Next” music video will draw from the iconic rom-com (among others). After the singer posted a bunch of Legally Blonde–inspired teasers on social media, Reese Witherspoon—yes, Elle Woods herself—swooped in to give Grande her (probably well-perfumed) stamp of approval.

Grande had posted a photo of herself standing with a familiar orange iBook—identical to the one Elle Woods uses in a Harvard Law lecture—and captioned it, “Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.” Witherspoon retweeted the photo on Wednesday and added her own epic Elle Woods one-liner: “Also… 2 weeks ago I saw Cameron Diaz at Fred Segal and I talked her out of buying a truly heinous angora sweater!”

See for yourself:

This all comes just after Grande had shared an image of Elle Woods’ adorable pet sidekick Bruiser Woods hanging out on a bright pink pool float and uploaded another photo that suggests Jennifer Coolidge might make a cameo in the video. Now she’s got Witherspoon in her corner too. Allow us to bend and snap with delight!

Grande has been giving fans clues about what the “Thank U, Next” video will entail, and detective work lead most people to conclude that the visuals for the break-up anthem will involve Mean Girls and 13 Going on 30 in addition to Legally Blonde. Grande had been captioning her photos with Mean Girls quotes all week, and her followers caught on quickly when she posted an image of herself with short, Jenna Rink–esque hair.

Grande confirmed the guesses in a recent Instagram story, writing, “Ok, you guessed the third! but there’s still one more so no tea. Tomorrow.” We’ll have to wait and see what the final movie is.

Meanwhile, it’s hardly a surprise that Witherspoon is embracing Grande’s ode to Legally Blonde. She’s always treated stans with love: Earlier this year, she excitedly accepted a woman’s 15,000-word dissertation based on the movie. We’re pretty sure she’s going to be just as supportive when Grande takes on the challenge of giving us her own version of Elle Woods. What, like it’s hard?

Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" Video Will Reference Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, and 13 Going on 30

Since Ariana Grande dropped “Thank U, Next” earlier this month, arguably the whole world has been obsessed with the breakup anthem. And it looks like the music video for the bop will soon reach our screens — complete with references to not one or two but four iconic ‘00s romantic comedies.

Ari is the queen of building up anticipation, but she’s also the queen of mercilessly hinting at her next move. On Nov. 19, she set the internet ablaze with a photo of her kissing her cousin with various Mean Girls nods sprinkled all over social media. “All of this is tea. Only a tiny sip tho…tbc. And by a tiny sip, I literally mean tiny…like 25% of the cup,” she teased.

As it turns out, the references were indeed a hint about the forthcoming “Thank u, next” music video. And we now basically have another 50% of the tea confirmed by Ariana herself.

Alongside Mean Girls is Reese Witherspoon‘s 2001 classic Legally Blonde, as Grande’s confirmed in multiple Instagram posts. One photo shows Ari on a treadmill (or elliptical, hard to tell) with Apple’s 1999 original orange iBook (yes, the exact same one Elle Woods outstandingly rocks at Harvard Law). The pic is accompanied by Elle’s infamous quote, “Whoever said orange is the new pink is seriously disturbed,” as the caption.

But it looks like Ari’s not alone when it comes to stepping into Elle’s shoes, as she also shared a snap of her beloved Toulouse à la Bruiser Woods, casually chilling in a pool lounger. Iconic. Ari also posted a photo with actor Jennifer Coolidge, clad in her Paulette regalia, while sporting a fluffy pink top, which she captioned “new best friend …. thank u, next.”

We can’t wait to see what antics Paulette and Ari Woods get up to in this portion of the video, but we also know Ari will be channelling her inner Jennifer Garner (a.k.a. Jenna Rink) in 13 Going on 30. (Who knows, maybe we’ll even get Noah Centineo as young Mark Ruffalo? We should be so lucky.)

Ari first teased 13 Going on 30 as another 25% of the video with a picture a dollhouse eerily similar to the one Jenna has in the film. She’s also been sporting a fresh shoulder-length cut that’s a really close match to Jenna’s (and her Twitter likes confirm the suspicion).

Ari has already confirmed that Mean Girls, Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30 make up 75% of the visual references in “Thank u, next” on her Instagram Stories twice today. “Ok, you guessed the third! but there’s still one more so no tea. Tomorrow,” she wrote alongside a collage of the three iconic films.

One thing is sure: we love this kind of math, and we can’t wait until tomorrow to finally figure out the whole equation. Thank you again, “Thank u, next.”

Ariana Grande and Halsey Are Texting Each Other About Their Hit Songs

If we had to pick a theme for 2018, women championing other women would have to be near the top of the list. From Hollywood to Washington, D.C., we keep seeing examples that prove the tired, old tropes about catfights, comparisons, and jealousy wrong.

Latest case in point: Ariana Grande and Halsey‘s supportive pop-star friendship. The two women are, quite literally, at the top of their careers right now (so far, that is): Grande’s latest song “thank u, next” became her first single to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Halsey’s “Without You” just hit No. 1 on iTunes, knocking Grande from the perch.

But there’s no animosity between the two: Grande even shared a sweet text conversation between the two superstars on her Instagram Stories. In it, Halsey writes: “Honestly just happy it’s us rn. The ladies need us. Time for an uprising.” She adds, “Attention world: we are no longer taking ur shit.” Grande then replies: “AT ALL.”

PHOTO: Ariana Grande Instagram

Both women have gone through very public breakups of late (Grande with Pete Davidson and Halsey with G-Eazy), so it’s great to see them looking out for each other—and celebrating the amazing music that often comes from emotional struggles. “It’s like this is really me talking about my life. It kind of gave me like an existential crisis as an artist a little bit, because I’ve prided myself on being an artist who’s authentic and writes about her life and all that stuff,” Halsey has said of her hit song. “And then when I made this, and I felt just how bad it hurt.”

The singers’ exchange is wonderful, but each of the women has made a point to support other women in music by standing up for their fellow female artists, even when the press tries to pit them against each other. Back in 2017, Halsey and Demi Lovato squashed rumors of a feud with one Instagram post. And nobody has Nicki Minaj’s back like Grande.

Now that we know how tight these two are, could a music collaboration be far behind? Fingers crossed.
