Ariana Grande Made a Subtle Reference to Manchester in Her New Music Video

Ariana Grande‘s new era is upon us. The pop star released her first solo single in over a year, “No Tears Left to Cry,” on Friday (April 20), and fans are obsessed with it. Rightfully so: “No Tears” takes the glittery electro-pop genre Grande explored on 2016’s Dangerous Woman and updates it, infusing elements of nineties house, R&B, and even some spoken word. The song is the literal embodiment of using dance as catharsis—a way to combat any issues in your life, be they small or large.

Many of Grande’s fans are using the song to continue their healing from the bombing that took place at her May 2017 concert in Manchester. The senseless terrorist attack killed 22 people—some of them very young—and injured many more. Grande organized a benefit concert for Manchester the next month, which raised more than $13 million for the victims and their families. In a statement released several days after the attack, Grande said the Manchester victims will be “in [her] heart every day” and that she’ll think of them in “everything [she does] for the rest of [her] life.”

This rings true in the video Grande released for “No Tears Left to Cry.” At the end of the clip, a large bee flutters across the screen and then out of frame—and that’s not a coincidence. The worker bee is actually the symbol of Manchester, used to represent the city’s resilience during the Industrial Revolution. Watch the video for yourself, below, and pay close attention to the end.

The reference, naturally, moved Grande’s legion of fans, who took to Twitter to express their thoughts. Here are just a few of their responses:

Ariana Grande and Mac Miller Are Vacationing in a $10,500-A-Night Colorado Airbnb

At the end of a long year, Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Mac Miller took some much-needed time away from work at a mansion in Mountain Village, Colorado. The Pulitzer Mansion, given to Ariana courtesy of Airbnb, is the stuff of dreams, with six bedrooms and another in a guest house, jetted tubs in the bathrooms, and indoor pool, a bowling alley, a sauna, and even a private chef. Suffice it to say, there’s room enough for two.

In case that weren’t enough to keep them entertained, it comes with ski passes and a driver, so visitors can enjoy their vacation at nearby ski slopes. It’s also just an hour from the hot springs and 10 minutes from town. It looks like Ariana spent plenty of time relaxing on the mansion grounds, though: an Instagram photo shows her posing on the deck in a fuzzy yellow jacket, checkered pants, black boots, and ski goggles. She called it “the best trip ever,” and based on the mansion’s description, we can see why.

You can book the vacation home through Airbnb — theoretically. But be warned, it costs $10,500 per night. Nobody said it was cheap to vacation like a pop star.

Ariana Grande Has Baby Bangs Now

Baby bangs are divisive. Of all the types of bangs out there, they’re notoriously tough to pull off and hard to upkeep. Which is why when a regular person like you or me asks a friend, “Should I get baby bangs?” the answer—probably—is a swift and fast “hell no” unless you’ve got the stamina for regular trims and love your forehead. Ariana Grande, however, is far from normal and in this scenario, she’s close friends with Chris Appleton—hair whisperer to both Ari and Kim Kardashian. He’s been behind some of the biggest headline-making hair changes this year (see both Kim’s blond and Ariana’s gray.)

So, you see where this is going, right? After dying her hair silver-gray three weeks ago, Grande’s made another big change. She has choppy micro bangs now.

Ariana posted a photo to Instagram with just one emoji—a bat (as in the animal; not Steve Harrington’s weapon of choice)—while Appleton shared the same pic with the caption, “How cute are these bangs!” It’s unclear whether they’re a just-for-the-night Halloween thing or if they’re sticking around for a while (much like her gray hair), but Appleton’s caption speaks for itself. They are cute.

Take a look:

Ari might be as well known for her high, mile-long ponytail as her powerhouse voice, but actually—at the hand of Appleton’s supervision—she’s been straying from her fail-safe hairstyle for the past two years. She’s gotten brow-length bangs, been a surprise advocate for the return of scrunchies and crimpers, and lest you forget, she has really beautiful natural curls.

Maybe by the end of 2017 we’ll see her short. Crazier things have happened this year.

Ariana Grande Responds to Las Vegas Shooting and Calls for 'Unity, Peace, and Gun Control'

Saying that her “heart is breaking,” singer Ariana Grande tweeted out her condolences to victims of the Las Vegas shooting on Monday—and made an urgent plea for gun law reform.

On Sunday night, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire during the Route 91 Harvest music festival, killing at least 58 people and wounding hundreds. As NBC News reported, Paddock “released a barrage of bullets” from a hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino, targeting concertgoers below as they watched country star Jason Aldean’s performance. Paddock’s motives for the attack are still unclear and police believe that Paddock took his own life. They have also said that he had a variety of guns in his hotel room. Information about the victims of the attack is only now becoming available.

“My heart is breaking for Las Vegas,” Grande wrote in response to the news. “We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”

The Las Vegas attack comes just four months after a terrorist detonated a bomb as Grande performed in the United Kingdom’s Manchester Arena. The mid-May attack left 22 people dead and over 50 injured.
