Pro-Choice Organizations Launch the #OneInFour Campaign Ahead of President Trump's Supreme Court Nomination

Ahead of Donald Trump’s announcement of his choice for a nominee to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, pro-choice groups like Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Shout Your Abortion, and Advocates for Youth are gearing up for a fight over one of the nation’s most divisive issues—a woman’s right to choose and the possible overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade, the court case that ostensibly legalized abortion in the United States.

Today, they are launching a social media campaign called #OneInFour where they are asking women to share their own abortion stories (if possible) or to stand with those who are. Participants can also tag their senator and ask them to oppose any SCOTUS nominee who does not voice explicit support for Roe v. Wade. (You can find your senator’s Twitter handle here.)

The name #OneInFour comes from the statistic that nearly one in four women in the United States will have had an abortion by the age of 45.

That’s almost a quarter of the female population and yet there is still an incredible amount of stigma attached to women talking about their own abortions. Not to mention the online trolls. But as the Shout Your Abortion website states: “Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell. This is not a debate.”

When women share their abortion stories, we see that there is not one type of woman who makes the choice to end her pregnancy. And that there are also legions of women standing behind her, supporting her right to do so.

And that’s just the beginning as women keep talking and keep sharing.

We will know more about the battle ahead for the pro-choice movement Monday night after the president names his SCOTUS nominee, but the future of access to safe and legal abortion is most certainly in jeopardy.

Met Gala 2018: 11 Pressing Questions Ahead of the Event

The Met Gala: It’s the time of year when celebrities, fashion insiders, and other high-profile names come together, at the invitation of Vogue and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, to celebrate the Costume Institute’s exhibit in truly impeccable style. (Disclosure: Vogue and Glamour are both published by Condé Nast Publishing.)

We know the who (Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, along with co-chairs Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace; and a yet-to-be-revealed mega-watt guest list), the when (the first Monday in May, which this year falls on the 7th), and the where (the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, duh) for the 2018 gathering. We also know the title of this year’s Costume Institute exhibition: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” which, according to Vogue, is “designed to create a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings.”

But so many of the specifics we look forward to every year—who wears what, who shows up with whom, who will break the event’s strict “no selfie” rule—are kept strictly under wraps until the guests arrive. (Vogue never comments on the guest list, nor does it reveal who will perform inside the Met Gala ahead of the event.)

Ahead, we run through some of the real, though not urgent—or, really, super crucial—questions we found ourselves pondering ahead of the 2018 Met Gala. All musings are entirely speculative, of course. But that doesn’t make them any less fun.

What iconic, random grouping will we get from the Met Gala’s annual restroom gathering?

The Met Gala has a strict “no social media” policy, but…those in attendance are among the most-followed individuals in the world, so you know they’re going to find the loopholes. For the past few years, celebrities gather in the museum’s bathrooms to snap some of the most unexpected group pictures of all time. Where else can you get Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Brie Larson, Lily Aldridge, Paris Jackson, Ashton Sanders, Frank Ocean, P. Diddy, Kim Kardashian, A$AP Rocky, Luka Sabbat, and Slick Woods in the same shot?

Will Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik reunite on the red carpet?

Another mainstay of the Met Gala red carpet? Celebrity couples setting a new bar for #couplegoals, year after year. It’s also been the platform for many to make their public debuts: In 2017, it was Selena Gomez and The Weeknd; in 2016, it was Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik. So, who will we find ourselves shipping after the red carpet gets rolled up at the end of the night on Monday? As rumors about Hadid and Malik getting back together continue to circulate, we have to wonder if they’ll attend—and maybe even walk the red carpet—together. Something about the Met Gala just sets the tone for romance. After all, let’s not forget: It’s widely rumored this is where the Taylor Swift/Tom Hiddleston relationship began.)

Will Kylie Jenner use the Met Gala to make her first red carpet reappearance?

Kylie Jenner has kept a low profile over the past year, as she was awaiting the arrival of her first child, Stormi Webster. And though she’s kept her fans up-to-date on her goings-on via social media, she has yet to make a public appearance in 2018. (Well, unless you count Coachella.) Will she use the Met Gala—an event she’s attended twice—to mark her first red carpet of the year? Hm…

Will the Ocean’s 8 cast arrive as a squad?

It’s the perfect opportunity considering the film is literally about seven women who rob the Met Gala. What better way to promote your movie than all of the actresses showing up together to the actual Met Gala? Plus, cast member Rihanna is a co-host that evening. Your move, Warner Bros.

Will Rihanna release new Fenty Music?

Speaking of Rih, she’s also an obvious guess at the evening’s entertainment. When Katy Perry co-hosted the event last year, she performed. (This was right after the release of “Bon Appétit.”) What better occasion to spotlight some of the new Fenty tunes fans have been eagerly awaiting? It’s been more than two years since Anti, just saying.

What the hell is Madonna going to wear?

The Queen of Pop’s been taking the Catholic Church to task for her entire career—need we remind of you of the burning crosses in the “Like a Prayer” video, or when she literally hung herself on a cross during her 2006 Confessions Tour? This year’s Met Gala theme—”Heavenly Bodies”—was basically tailor-made for her, so it’ll be interesting to see what new buttons she pushes if she attends, and whether she decides to bring her own wine to the red carpet again.

Will anyone quietly make their exit five minutes into the event?

Demi Lovato left the Met Gala early in 2016. So did Amy Schumer. Some people just aren’t into galas. We wouldn’t be surprised if at least one celebrity shows up, sees how many stairs they have to climb to get into the event, and then bounces before even getting a glimpse of André Leon Talley’s cape.

Or: Who’s going to settle in for a mid-stair nap?

At the 2017 Met Gala, Diddy was working the red carpet, as celebrities do—until he decided he was good and simply reclined on the steps for a minute. Honestly, it was a mood. Stairs are hard! Fancy clothes are hard! Walking up stairs in fancy clothes is hard!

What will be the most outstanding example of self-promotion on the red carpet?

At the 2015 Met Gala, Madonna arrived wearing a dress with Rebel Heart, the name of her then-just-released album, splashed across it. Last year, Katy Perry donned a headpiece that said—you guessed it!—Witness, the name of her album. This begs the question: Which celebrity is going to use this very high-profile event to get their promo on? Please, Ariana Grande, don’t hesitate to wear sunglasses with the phrase “Sweetener” on the eyes.

Is Beyoncé going to decide at the last minute to go?

In 2012, Beyoncé decided the day of the Met Gala that she wanted to go, so Givenchy scrambled to put together her look. Only Bey can turn up to a $30,000-per-head event unexpected and still shut the whole red carpet down. Ms. Wintour and company will always have a place for her.

Finally, who’s going to blatantly ignore the theme and just wear a pretty dress?

Answer: Everyone, probably—except for Rihanna. Bow down to the Met Gala queen.

Lili Reinhart on Season Two of 'Riverdale': There's Challenging Times Ahead for Betty Cooper

Riverdale‘s mid-season finale left more questions than answers, especially now that we know Svenson may not be the Black Hood after all. Lili Reinhart told us the situation is far from being resolved, and she has every reason to believe the murderer is still at large. “Things don’t feel right…like, there’s still some deep, dark, unspoken mystery going on,” she explains.

And if the Black Hood mystery isn’t enough to deal with, there’s plenty of other drama brewing in Riverdale. Betty and Jughead—and Archie and Veronica—are still in relationship limbo, Josie has a stalker, Cheryl’s obsessed, and who knows what’s up with the Lodges. There’s also the upcoming birth of Polly’s baby and the arrival of Betty’s brother, Chic.

When the show returns on January 17, the good news is that there won’t be much of a time jump. “It’s just after Christmas break,” Reinhart says. “It’s not two months or anything like that. It’s just two weeks [that have passed].” The arrival of Betty’s brother will also bring the topic of Betty’s mental health back into conversation. “You definitely see that a lot more in the second half of the season,” Reinhart says. “When Betty digs her nails into her hands, it’s kind of when things are happening with her family. That’s her trigger, whether it be her mother, her brother, or Polly. I think that’s something to keep in mind.” Also, with the introduction of her brother, “she’s very curious to see if he has that darkness inside him as well. There might be some sister/brother bonding over mental health issues.”

That darkness isn’t just internal, either. Reinhart doesn’t say whether Betty will don her black wig again, but her makeup does get little darker and her overall look will be “a little more made up.”

And if Betty didn’t have enough going on in her life, it looks like her friendship with Veronica will also be put in jeopardy. “I think that concept is challenged in the second half,” she says. While one would think it’s because Veronica might find out that Archie and Betty kissed, Reinhart indicates that it goes way beyond that. “Not to give too much away, but I think there is definitely challenges to come in Betty and Veronica’s friendship, and it’s a result of their parents, to be honest,” she says. “It’s like, how do they navigate their friendship with the parents that they have? And if their parents are at war, does that mean the kids are at war? That becomes very, very heavy in the latter half. The concept of Betty and Veronica putting each other first does become challenged.”

'This Is Us' Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Trouble Might Be Ahead for Kevin

This week’s episode of This Is Us can be divided into three sections: a sad foster-child subplot, Sylvester Stallone mumbling, and Rebecca throwing a bag of burgers on the ground. It was weird, ridiculous, and, at times, actually moving—if you can see past Rebecca committing the aforementioned unforgivable sin.

And now, the recap:

We open with Jack at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. He’s been sober three weeks, apparently, though he admits it’s hard talking to Rebecca about his problems. The camera’s really close to Jack’s face as he’s saying this, and his beard has never looked more mesmerizing.

Teenage Randall is hungry to meet his birth parents, so he sneakily places an ad in the local newspaper asking for anyone who left “a newborn baby at a firehouse” to contact him. And now I’m chuckling at the idea of multiple people doing that. Like, what if Randall’s phone starts blowing up? Eventually, someone responds to his ad and asks to meet at a park.

Adult Randall and Beth applied to a foster care agency three weeks ago, but they haven’t heard anything back. He’s pissed, makes some comment about how their large kitchen island should put them at the front of the foster-parent line, and Beth tells him to chill TF out.

“Guys like that kid from My So-Called Life are in.” —Jack

The agency, unsurprisingly, calls minutes after Randall’s freak-out. They have a child for them: a 12-year-old girl named Déjà. Randall’s lit and starts going on a nonsensical rant about how fostering Déjà will help him fulfill his family’s legacy. It’s corny, but cute—and I’m tearing up, so this dialogue is clearly working. It always works.

Déjà shows up to Randall and Beth’s house. She’s quiet, shy, and shows no interest in getting to know the family—which worries Randall. He was expecting a more “responsive” child but, like, Déjà was just forcibly removed from her home because her mom was sent to prison, and Randall’s a stranger to her! He needs to calm down.

Beth finds cigarettes in Déjà’s room and tries to take them away, but Déjà flips out, calling her a “bitch” and even grabbing her. But the second Randall walks in, forcefully, Déjà cowers in fear. The implication here, I think, is that Déjà’s last foster father (or maybe even her birth father) was abusive. Later in the night, Déjà shares a tender moment with Randall and Beth’s daughters in a scene that mimics the first night William stayed at their house.

We’re now on the set of Adult Kevin’s film that I don’t care about. Sylvester Stallone is his co-star. Like, not an actor played by Sylvester Stallone: Sylvester Stallone playing himself. I would 2,000 percent not see this movie in theaters if it were real. Kate’s naturally shook meeting Sylvester and tells Kevin she wishes their dad was there to see this.

Kevin coldly brushes off this comment, which I know is supposed to make me wonder, “Why doesn’t Kevin want to talk about his dad?”—but all I can think about is how Kate called Sylvester Stallone “Stallin” moments before. Is that a nickname I don’t know about? Does she know it sounds like Joseph Stalin? The dictator?

“I’m Jack Pearson-ing you!” —Rebecca

Kate gives a genuinely nice speech to Sylvester Stallone about how he was Jack’s favorite actor. Oddly enough, it’s Rocky mother-effing Balboa who talks sense into Kevin about brushing off memories of his father. He tells Kevin that it doesn’t matter how much time has passed; either memories matter or they don’t. Kevin furrows his brow and frowns at this. It’s touching in a “two macho dudes talk about something other than cars and beer for once” kind of way.

But this conversation ends up ruining Kevin’s first scene with Sylvester in the “movie.” All the emotion he’s feeling about his father causes him to screw up his lines repeatedly. So what’s the takeaway here? Dealing with your emotions causes you to…fail at work?

“”Everyone on The Manny just looked pasty and sad.” —Kate

Kevin chews out Kate for his bad performance. In his opinion, if Kate never told Sylvester Stallone about their dad, he wouldn’t have stunk up the set—which is faulty logic. Own up to your flop performance, bro. Kate confronts Kevin about why he never wants to talk about their dad. Kevin says that he feels no need to talk about it or walk around “sad and damaged” like she is, which is a beyond jerky thing to say. I’m sorry, but Kevin’s the worst, and he’s been the worst since the 1980s.

Kevin’s redeemed, slightly, when he’s shooting a scene for his movie and starts thinking about his father. The emotion seems to be helping him this time, and we learn he was sleeping in a car—for some unknown reason—when he found out about his dad’s death. Naturally, this ends with Kevin tripping, hurting his knee, and screwing up the scene…again. Maybe Kevin’s a bad actor?

Kevin and Kate make up on the phone. He tells Kate he hurt his “bad knee” on set. This explains the leg cast we see Kevin wearing the night of Jack’s death. Connections! He tears up talking about his dad. Again, it’s sweet in a “frat bro talks about his feelings” way. A voiceover of Kate saying, “He’s just like you” happens as Kevin takes pain pills for his knee. So does this mean Kevin is…also an addict?

Back in the ’90s (blah), Jack bypasses morning breakfast, which raises Kate’s eyebrows. Rebecca’s wearing a brown floral dress that I can’t get past. Randall’s freaking out about potentially meeting one of his birth parents and doesn’t have time to answer Kevin’s question about whether Brandy or Mariah Carey is hotter. (Ahhh, the ’90s.) Teenage Randall tells Teenage Kevin and Kate that he’s meeting his birth mother at the park. Bah!

But the woman who answered Randall’s ad was, horrifically, just a woman trying to scheme money out of him. He storms out of the park in a mix of rage and devastation and, honestly, this might be the most heartbreaking scene in This Is Us. This is seriously sad—and not in the manipulative way.

Nineties/Swoop Bangs Rebecca is complaining to Miguel’s ex-wife about her marriage problems, which is very ironic. Rebecca confesses that she and Jack haven’t had sex in a while, and Miguel’s wife essentially tells her to get on that or her marriage will fall apart. I love that they’re drinking wine with their lunch salads. Opulent.

“I hope they don’t end up cavemen, like me.” —Jack

Rebecca takes Jack to some abandoned parking lot that has some sort of significance that I missed and also don’t really care about. She tries to sleep with him, but he’s not into it. Rebecca’s immediately mortified. It’s awkward. But they have burgers in the car with them, so silver lining?

They get home—burgers still in their bags, unfortunately—and Jack admits that getting sober is hard because he has to confront all the ugly parts of his past. He doesn’t think he can do it, but Rebecca reassures him he can by just saying the phrase “I know” 6,000 times in a row.

“Kids in need love themselves big kitchen islands.” —Beth

Apparently, this does the trick because Jack tells Rebecca to get back in the car so they can finish their date. And then Rebecca throws the bag full of burgers away and gets in the car. What the fuck?! Any sentiment this scene was supposed to convey is now lost on me because these monsters willfully wasted fast food.

Jack tells Rebecca that he’s been keeping a lot of secrets from her, and that he’ll tell them to her in time. This is more creepy than comforting, to be honest. What’s he hiding? Regardless, this admission was enough to light the fire between Jack and Rebecca, and they wind up having sex in their car like two horny teenagers. They come home and a dog is eating their burgers. This dog is the only person on this whole damn show with his priorities straight.

Annnd now I’m crying. Again. Jesus, I’ve cried so much in this episode that it’s embarrassing. Randall tells Déjà the story of his own adoption, and that he sees a lot of himself in her. That seems to put her mind at ease, and for the first time Randall and Beth seem to have hope in this situation. It’s beautiful, but I’m still low-key thinking about Rebecca throwing away those burgers.

Unfortunately, the moment’s ruined when Randall tells Déjà her mom isn’t coming back for a while. She storms out of the room and breaks the photo of Randall, Jack, and Rebecca.

Parting thoughts: There were not one, but two vocal dubs in this episode. Noticeable vocal dubs. Whatever, they were kind of iconic.

Lady Gaga Has Been Hospitalized for Severe Pain Ahead of Show in Rio

Lady Gaga shared with her fans that sadly she will no longer be able to perform at the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil this weekend due to a recent hospitalization. She was taken to the hospital yesterday for “severe physical pain.” She wrote to her fans in an emotional Instagram post, revealing “it is not simply hip pain or wear and tear from the road, I am in severe pain.” (You might remember that in 2013, Lady Gaga cancelled some of her Born This Way Ball shows due to a hip injury, but it seems this is unrelated to that incident).

She went on to say “Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough to come to Rock In Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now. I ask for your grace and understanding, and promise that I will come back and perform for you soon. ? I’m so sorry, and I love you so much. ?”

She also shared a more formal medical statement on her condition:

Lady Gaga takes her health seriously, and it’s clear she’s devastated that she won’t be able to make the show in Rio. She snapped a photo of her “Rio” tattoo and posted the meaning behind it on Instagram. “Remember years ago when I tattooed Rio on my neck, the tattoo was written by children in the favelas. ?? You hold a special place in my heart I love you.”

The festival, which starts today, will go on as planned and feature music from Maroon 5, Fergie, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses, but certainly Lady Gaga will be missed. Here’s hoping for a smooth and safe recovery.
