Watch Prince William Confuse a Baby Picture of Himself with Princess Charlotte


Prince William and Kate Middleton got back to work yesterday amid all the drama surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family. The couple traveled to Bradford in the U.K., where they made lassis at a Pakistani restaurant, greeted huge crowds, and visited the town’s City Hall, as well as a community center.

They also got to meet Siama Ali, the Cup Caker Bradford, who created an elaborate cake in honor of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. “This amazing lady Siama Ali from Bradford spent three days baking these amazing cup cakes & main ? to depict Kate & William’s childhood, meet, engagement, wedding & children. Lovely explainer from her & she is Cup Caker Bradford if you want to check her out!,” royal reporter Emily Andrews tweeted.

In a particularly adorable moment, Prince William pointed to one of the edible photos and said, “Is that me? Because that looks just like Charlotte. That is incredible.” Middleton agreed, adding, “It looks so much like Charlotte.” They also referred to the princess by her sweet nickname, “Lottie.”

The Windsor genes are very strong in Princess Charlotte. We can’t see the exact photo used on the cake, but just check out the resemblance between a young William and Charlotte, below. She is definitely a (very cute) spitting image of her dad.

But seriously, how cool would it be for someone to create a “This Is Your Life” cake marking all the significant times from your childhood to having your very own children?

Even for a royal, that sounds incredible, and it’s making us nostalgic for moments like the Cambridges’ engagement announcement and the first time they introduced Prince George to the world.

See the Next Four Generations of British Monarchs in One Adorable Family Picture


The British Royal Family is marking the new year and the new decade by releasing a truly rare photo to the public.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of the Queen alongside her three royal successors; Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George. The photo was taken in the Buckingham Palace Throne Room by photographer Ranald Mackechnie on December 18.

In a statement provided to reporters, the palace shared that this is “a new portrait of Her Majesty The Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George has been released to mark the start of a new decade.”

Quite a lot has changed for the foursome since 2016 when their last portrait together was released. As CNN notes, that 2016 portrait was also taken by Mackechnie and released to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. The photo was later used on commemorative postage stamps issued by Royal Mail.

“The royal family were easier than my family to shoot, I have to tell you,” Mackechnie told CNN about the photo in 2016. He noted that the family was “very relaxed” together.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Surprised a Couple Hiking in Canada and Took Their Picture


As royal fans know, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie spent the past six weeks chilling together as a family, away from the spotlight. Reports eventually emerged that they celebrated the holidays on Vancouver Island, where they were spotted jogging, taking hikes, and hanging around town.

But one couple got a major surprise when the royals happened upon them on a hike. Picture it: You’re in a gorgeous setting and bust out your selfie stick to try to take a photo, but you’re struggling to get the shot because selfie sticks can be annoying that way. A nice person walking by offers to take it for you—and it turns out that person is the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, with Prince Harry standing nearby. Reader, I would probably pass out, but Iliya Pavlovic and Asymina Kantorowicz kept it together and shared their story with CTV News Vancouver Island.

“We noticed a group was standing nearby and they had two dogs, one of which was approaching us,” Kantorowicz said. “She starts asking if we want her to take a photo for us. We said sure. I didn’t see who she was at that time.” But she did notice another former Suits star Abigail Spencer with the group, which should have been a sign as she’s a close friend of the duchess.

“I thought she [Markle] looked familiar, but didn’t think it could actually be her,” she added. But very quickly, the couple realized just who exactly had offered to take their photo. “I froze up. I actually couldn’t believe who it was. Then I looked over to the side, and that’s when I realized Prince Harry was standing there. I kept looking back and forth like, ‘Is this actually happening?'”

“In that moment the only thing I could think to say, ‘There’s only so much that selfie sticks can do,'” Kantorowicz said. “She laughed and responded with something like, ‘We’ll have to do better,’ and then Harry said, ‘No pressure.'” A “very friendly” Markle then took a few photos. “She handed the phone back and said, ‘Happy New Year!’ and we said, ‘Thanks and happy New Year!'” Kantorowicz said. “Then we kind of turned to each other laughed and said, ‘Did that just happen?’ I still can’t believe it. It feels like a dream.” The Sussexes and their crew then headed off about their day.

This is the second photo by Markle to make headlines during their trip. It was also confirmed that she took the adorable shot, above, of her husband and son, which was released on the Sussex Royal Instagram ahead of the new year.

Oh, how we love relatable royals.

A Fan Discovered She Took a Picture With 11-Year-Old Blake Lively at a Spice Girls Concert


Like pretty much all of us, Blake Lively was a massive Spice Girls wannabe back in the day. In fact, her fandom was so intense that she actually dressed up as Baby Spice while attending a concert back in 1997—a moment the Internet blessed us with a glimpse of this week when a Twitter user uploaded a picture of herself posing with a very young Lively at the show. As if that adorable-ness wasn’t amazing enough, the real Baby Spice actually commented on the photo, causing Lively to have a very appropriate Spice Girls-related freakout.

On Saturday, Twitter user @briamadrid posted a photo of herself with a young girl rocking the full Baby Spice look—the necklace, the pigtails, the gigantic platform shoes—and said she’d just realized the costumed fan was actually Lively. “Found a picture when I was 5 at my first concert. #SpiceGirls and took a picture with a girl dressed up as Baby Spice who I just realized now was @blakelively,” she wrote.

Lively re-posted the photo on her Instagram, writing, “Pretending to be someone else… since 1997 (Thanks @briaaamadrid for the photo of us at the Spice Girls concert. Sorry -not sorry- I tricked you into thinking I was @emmaleebunton).”

That whole interaction on its own is adorable, but it got even wilder when Emma Lee Bunton, a.k.a. Baby Spice, chimed in to compliment Lively. “So cute, you’re rocking those pigtails @blakelively,” she wrote.

Getting a thumbs-up from Baby Spice was almost too much for Lively, who tweeted a bunch of skull emojis and replied, “Forever bowing down to you. I cannot believe you know who I am. This will never be normal.”

Rumors have been circulating for a while now that the Spice Girls are planning a reunion tour soon, and Mel B recently seemed to confirm as much on the Today show.

If the reunion shows do happen, maybe Lively will have a chance to reprise her Baby Spice role—and we’d be so here for that.

Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski Expelled From Motion Picture Academy


The organization behind the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has voted to strip actor Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski of their membership, following an examination of the sexual assault convictions that surround both men. A statement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ board of governors said the decision came during a meeting on Tuesday night.

“The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy’s values of respect for human dignity,” the statement read.

Last October Harvey Weinstein was booted from the organization, after reports in The New Yorker and The New York Times brought numerous allegations of sexual misconduct to light. Since then, the Academy introduced a revised code of conduct to its 8,400 members, and CEO Dawn Hudson said a new process would be revealed to determine “whether a claim will be brought to the Board for possible action regarding membership status.” According to the Associated Press, suspension or expulsion requires two thirds approval of the 55-member board.

The vote determines that Polanski and Cosby do not meet the new standards of the Academy. Cosby, who had been a member since 1996, is currently awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of sexual assault. More than 60 women have come forward to accuse him, and several of them testified in court earlier this month. Polanski has been living in exile since 1978; he fled the U.S. before he could be sentenced in a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl. He had been a member of the Academy since 1969 and was nominated for five Oscars and won Best Director in 2003.

According to Variety, Polanski’s attorney, Harland Braun, said Polanski was “not afforded an opportunity” to defend himself to the Academy and protocol had not been properly followed leading up to the vote.

The move to expel Cosby and Polanski sets up a new precedent for how the Academy will deal with allegations of sexual misconduct in the future. Already some outlets have wondered if other actors accused—including Casey Affleck and Woody Allen—will face similar consequences.
