The First Trailer for Taylor Swift’s Documentary, ‘Miss Americana,’ Is Finally Here

Taylor Swift‘s song lyrics have always been deeply personal, to the point that it can feel like we know her intimately. Of course, we don’t really—but come January 31, we will all be privy to other sides of the superstar when her documentary, Miss Americana, debuts on Netflix.

The first trailer for the doc dropped Wednesday, January 22. And if it’s any indication, we’re getting a behind-the-scenes version of Swift at a pivotal time in her life and career that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. It opens with Swift preparing to go onstage where “no one that I know of in the audience actively hates me.” She then tells herself to “not get dead face.”

“Throughout my whole career, record executives would just say, ‘A nice girl doesn’t force their opinions on people. A nice girl smiles and waves and says thank you,'” she says in a voice-over. “I became the person everyone wanted me to be.”

She talks about stepping away from the spotlight for a year because she thought that’s what people wanted and having to “deconstruct an entire belief system.” But there are lighter moments in the movie too, like the light-up shoes she wears in the recording studio and silly footage from her tour.

We also see some glimpses of her family, in particular her mom, Andrea, who, Swift revealed on January 21, is battling a brain tumor. “While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor,” she told Variety. “And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”

Miss Americana starts streaming on Netflix on January 31. Mark your calendars accordingly.

The 3 Things I’m Shopping After Watching the Little Women Trailer on Repeat

I’ve been watching the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women remake on repeat ever since it debuted in August. The new movie—starring Meryl Streep, Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan, and Laura Dern—is already getting rave reviews and early Oscars buzz for Ronan.

“Every single moment of it is just devastatingly poignant—somehow wild & wise / now & forever at the same time—and it all makes the whole world feel more possible & alive and then it’s over & you have to do laundry,” IndieWire film critic David Ehrlich tweeted about Little Women a few weeks ago.

And while I can’t wait to see the movie and cry, I’m also excited to mine it for fashion inspo. I’ve been debating what my style aesthetic will be this winter, and thanks to the Little Women trailer I think I have an answer. My outfit will work for the office and be inspired by quarreling with Laurie in an open field, or I want nothing to do with it.

These three moments from the Little Women trailer inspired all of my winter fashion goals. Come join me on the modern prairie, friends. Laura Dern is here!

Muted prints

I’ll take all the easy-on-the-eyes stripes, florals, or plaids. Any print inspired by one of the sisters’ dresses will do! Patterns that use similar colors (or varying shades of the same color) create visual interest without being distracting. Perfect for sitting under a tree and writing poetry for hours. To avoid the “I just got back from churning butter” vibes, I’ll skip the full, floor-length skirts and look for muted patterns on more modern pieces, like slim-fit pants and soft cotton T-shirts.

Timeless woolen winter layers

Because it gets cold on the prairie, too. And I’m not about to back down from my argument with Laurie because my arms are cold. Emma Watson’s green scarf here is particularly delightful.

Timothée Chalamet’s character offers a new spin on a classic. For a modern take, I’ll lose the vest and pair menswear-inspired pants in a 2019 silhouette—or a skirt that looks like it means business—with a white tee. Maybe if I wear this look and walk around Brooklyn, Gerwig will discover me and cast me in her next movie. A Little Women sequel, perhaps? One can dream!

Hannah Brown Makes a Shocking Return in the Latest Trailer for The Bachelor

In a second scene, Brown and Weber are sitting very close together on a couch and looking extremely cozy, while the other women in the house seem to be spying on them. “I’m making decisions for my heart,” Brown says. “Because I know there’s still something there. And I would do anything for a relationship.” Then, he makes a shocking ask: “Hannah Brown, what I’m about to say is extremely crazy. What would you say if I asked you to come and be part of the house?”

Of course, we don’t get to hear her answer—but it would appear that this season is going to be very interesting indeed. Weber, of course, finished third in Brown’s season of The Bachelorette and she told People afterward that she cared very deeply for him. “I was in love with Peter,” she said. “I was pulled into different directions every other day. But I had to make a decision. I felt like my heart was broken.”

From the trailer, we also learn that Weber apparently has sex with at least one of the women in the house. “I don’t want this just to feel like it’s all about sex, but I have been intimate. I can’t lie to you about that,” he says. We also hear one contestant tell him, “You can’t do these things with other women or I’m leaving.”

The Bachelor premieres January 6 at 8 PM ET on ABC.

Fuller House Debuts Its Fifth Season Trailer — Without Lori Loughlin

The first trailer for the fifth and final season of Fuller House is finally here. Though it teases lots of family-friendly fun, fans were quick to notice it’s missing one important thing: any mention of Aunt Becky.

Lori Loughlin famously portrayed Aunt Becky in the early ’90s classic TV show, Full House and then reprised her role in the Netflix revival, Fuller House. However, things hit a snag for Loughlin when it was revealed that she allegedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to scam her children’s way into the University of Southern California. Loughlin is now facing an impending court battle and has pleaded not guilty.

The season five trailer picks up right where season four left off with the Tanner crew. In the clips, Stephanie Tanner (played by Jodie Sweetin) and Jimmy Gibbler (played by Adam Hagenbuch) finally get to bring home their new daughter, who happened to be carried by surrogate Kimmy Gibbler (played by Andrea Barber).

The trailer also gives fans a sneak-peek at what’s to come for D.J. Tanner (played by Candace Cameron Bure) and her on-again high school sweetheart Steve Hale (played by Scott Weinger)—something that truly made every fan of the original show giddy. But, that’s not all. In the two-minute trailer, fans also catch a glimpse of the rest of the OG cast including Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and John Stamos. AKA, everyone but Loughlin.

“It was really sad, and we could feel her absence,” Barber told People about Loughlin’s absence during the final season of filming. “It just felt like there was a hole in the whole season but also in that final episode. She should’ve been there, and I’m sorry that she wasn’t.”

And, in a recent Instagram post, Bure stopped short of supporting Loughlin in her court battle; however, the actress did explain that the bonds run deep with the entire Full House cast.

“We’ve had these friendships for more than 30 years and it’s just sad to leave them,” she said. “Have tears with us and hug along with us, because that’s kind of what we need, is the comfort and the love.”

Why Is the Cats Trailer So Upsetting? An Investigation

“I mean, female breasts are not a bad thing,” Valentino says. “A female body is beautiful, it’s not shameful in the least.”

Quackenbush says that it’s not the breasts or the abs that are problematic, it’s the fact that they’re connected to, well, cats. “There’s a taboo for having a sexual feeling for an animal, and there is something a little sexualized about the characters in the trailer,” she says. That’s why it feels weird to lust after the silky-haired Idris Elba-cat, while audiences have been giving standing ovations to Cats casts for years.

The premise of Cats is undeniably insane–a cat community meets in a dirty alley to sing about themselves until, eventually, one cat is selected to die and go to cat heaven. And though many of the cats are supposed to be sexy (there’s one named “Rum Tum Tugger”) audiences have generally found human actors in face paint and fur leg warmers more charming than seductive. When Cats opened on Broadway in 1982 the New York Times review hailed it as “primal” and Variety called it a “pleasurable fantasy creation.” When it was revived on Broadway most recently in 2016, the Guardian called it “strangely adorable.”

So why are so many people going through it, with these brief, sensual showtune-y cat clips? Why does it feel like perky human butts covered in fine orange hair are etched on the inside of my eyelids? Valentino thinks the trailer is “like a Rorschach Test — people see things the way they see them due to their personal catharsis, or lack thereof.” She adds, “Sometimes a cat is just a cat.”

Daniel Quagliozzi, a cat behavioral specialist, disagrees. “Because of where we’ve come, historically, through our view of cats and internet influence, and projection, we want to put a human value on cats all the time,” he says. Humans are desperate to relate to cats, he argues. “But when we see cats that look more like humans—it disturbs our minds.”

“When we see cats dancing in human bodies and human faces…” his voice trails off, and we both think about furry tails looming behind a human skull, cheekbones stretching out hair-covered skin. Uncanny.

And yet, I will certainly pay money to see Cats in theaters.

For I would like to know the answer to the question, “What would it be like if all the Harry Potter characters looked like Hermione when she accidentally takes Polyjuice potion laced with cat hair?” It will also provide a much needed service to people who harbor fantasies about mixing their DNA with cats. And most important, it will test the limits of a culture that’s made cats its mascot. Hello Kitty, Grumpy Cat, and half the videos on YouTube have only been a warmup for this: over one hundred straight minutes of cat content, performed as a pop-opera, butt-hair and all.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby Trailer: Watch and See All the Meghan and Harry Vibes

The trailer for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby, the third movie in Netflix’s Christmas Prince franchise, is here, and it’s serving major Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie vibes. So, in other words, the internet is going to completely freak out over it.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Christmas Prince series, let me give you some context: In 2017 Netflix released the first film, which centered on Amber (Rose McIver), a New York City journalist who travels to the fictional country of Aldovia to learn more about its party-boy prince, Richard (Ben Lamb). The two fall for each other and get married in the second film, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, officially making them king and queen of Aldovia.

And now comes baby. In this new film, Queen Amber is pregnant with the heir to the Aldovian throne, but she’s determined to make his or her life as normal as possible. She wants her child to grow up without feeling the burden or responsibility of being a royal—much like what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly want for Archie.

And the drama doesn’t end there. A sacred document that will grant a truce between Aldovia and another fictional country, Panglia, goes missing, and if it’s not retrieved by midnight Christmas Eve, a “curse” is placed on Amber’s baby. Didn’t see that coming, did you?

Watch the trailer for yourself, below, and prepare to be charmed.

When asked about the popularity of the Christmas Prince franchise, McIver told Glamour last year, “I think right now in the world there’s plenty of access to terrible news. It’s not just that bad things are happening; it’s the fact they’re reported on in the way in which they are. I think sometimes we feel pretty depleted by the state of things as we see them, and this is a chance to escape and believe in a fairy tale again and be children. It’s great. I’m glad it’s found an audience.”

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby starts streaming on Netflix on December 5.
