Blake Lively Has So Many Hair Changes in the Trailer for Her New Movie, The Rhythm Section

Blake Lively is going into assassin mode with her new movie, The Rhythm Section. The trailer for the action blockbuster dropped on Thursday, September 19, and it involves lots of intense fight scenes and car crashes, and many wig changes. In the span of just a few seconds, we see Lively rock short black hair, a shaggy blond cut, and long, red femme-fatale-style waves. So. Many. Costume. Changes.

The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Mark Burnell. It’s directed by Reed Morano (who was behind several episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale), and Lively stars alongside Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown. She plays Stephanie, a woman who seeks revenge on the people who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family.

Watch the trailer in full for yourself, below. Take note of the hair!

Lively, who appeared last in the delightfully bonkers A Simple Favor, shared in 2017 that she’d be starring in The Rhythm Section. “Yes. Yes. Yes!!! I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this incredible and complex ? hero to life,” she wrote. This is just one of many diverse roles Lively has played over the years. According to IMDb, Lively’s next project is an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s novel The Husband’s Secret. No other costars for that project have been announced yet.

The Rhythm Section was, unfortunately, met with a few challenges. The Hollywood Reporter wrote back in January of last year that production was temporarily shut down after Lively suffered a hand injury. The release date was moved from February 2019 to January 2020. Luckily it looks as though Lively was a champ and recovered quickly. In fact, we’re wondering how many of those intense, high-flying stunts from the trailer were her work. Serena van der Woodsen is absolutely shaking.

The Rhythm Section hits theaters January 31, 2020.

The Trailer for Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding's Last Christmas Is So Charming

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And by that we mean, studios are releasing trailers for all the movies that will be coming out later this fall and holiday season.

Yesterday, it was Little Women, and today brings us the extremely charming first trailer for Last Christmas, the rom-com starring Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke and Henry Golding, he of Crazy Rich Asians fame. Oh, and the movie was written by (and co-stars) the great Emma Thompson and is directed by Paul Feig, who did Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, and A Simple Favor, which also featured Golding.

In the trailer, we meet Clarke’s Kate, who works in a year-round Christmas-themed store as an elf, where her boss, played by Michelle Yeoh, has nicknamed her “Lazy the Elf.” She bumps into Tom (Golding) outside of the store one day—right before a bird literally poops in her eye—and they strike up an adorable conversation. Of course, this being a rom-com, the two keep randomly meeting and growing closer.

Later in the trailer, Tom takes Kate to a homeless shelter where he volunteers, and she opens up to him about a near-death experience that’s eerily similar to Clarke’s own real-life situation. (Earlier this year, the actor opened up about suffering through brain aneurysms that almost killed her.) “”I was really sick and I nearly died. I don’t tell people because they get weird, but I don’t think you’ll get weird,” her character says. “I’m just scared all the time.” But there appears to be something mysterious (or perhaps magical) about Tom, who disappears for periods of time, according to Kate.

We also meet her family, including an overbearing mother, played by Thompson, and a nagging sister. The movie features the music of the late George Michael, including the song the film is named for, which is basically a cherry on top of this whole situation.

Last Christmas opens in theaters on November 8.

The Little Women Trailer Is Finally Here—and People Are Very Excited

Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the classic Louisa May Alcott novel, Little Women, is one of the most-anticipated films of the year. You won’t be able to see it until Christmas Day (a perfect family outing!) but the first trailer for the movie is finally here.

Gerwig has assembled an all-star cast to tell the story of the March sisters, including Saoirse Ronan as Jo, Meryl Streep as Aunt March, Laura Dern as Marmee, Emma Watson as Meg, Florence Pugh as Amy, and Timothée Chalamet as Laurie.

From the minute the project was announced, it’s been an Internet favorite, with fans following every casting decision and photo from the set. The last big Little Women remake—starring Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Bale—was also incredibly popular, but that was in 1995, well before the social media age.

We don’t want to keep you waiting any longer, though. Check out the trailer for yourself, below, and then we can discuss.

The acting, no surprise, is top-notch—with Saoirse Ronan emerging as the breakout. “I’m so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I’m so sick of it,” she says at the tail-end of the trailer. Streep also gets in a memorable line, telling Jo that she’ll need to marry well in order to make her way in the world. “But you’re not married, Aunt March,” Jo says, to which Aunt March says, “Well that’s because I’m rich.” Is that an Oscars sweep I see in the distance?

People are living for this trailer. Peep just a few reactions here:

“All praise, Greta Gerwig,” one fan tweeted while another enthusiastically posted, “SAOIRSE RONAN ??? OSCAR NOM IMCOMING.”

The Trailer for the New Harriet Tubman Biopic Is Here

In 2018, Focus Features announced that it would release a biopic about Harriet Tubman, directed by Kasi Lemmons and starring Tony-winning actor Cynthia Erivo. And now we have our first look: The first official trailer for Harriet dropped on Tuesday, July 23, and it’s fantastic.

Harriet, which will be out November 1, follows Tubman’s journey escaping slavery in Maryland and becoming an integral part of the Underground Railroad to free other enslaved people. The trailer was met with a large wave of excitement online, with Twitter users already campaigning for Erivo’s Oscar. If Erivo wins an Academy Award, she would be the youngest person ever to achieve an EGOT designation.

“Cynthia Erivo is this close to becoming an EGOT winner, and I am SO ready to watch it happen,” one person wrote on Twitter. Actress Susan Heyward tweeted, “Whhheeeee!!! This imagery, this message, this team, this ⁦@CynthiaEriVo! This ⁦@leslieodomjr!!⁩”

Erivo’s casting has been a bit controversial, though. Many people have taken issue with the fact that she was born and raised in the U.K., and say the role could have gone to an African American actress with a closer link to the story. Erivo addressed the backlash in an Instagram post last September.

“Nothing has been given to me without me first putting the work in, people speak of foreign privilege and truthfully life would be unbelievably easy if that were applied to me but that is not my portion. I fought for the role of Celie, and spilled blood sweat and tears playing her, the same applies for every role I’ve earned, this will be no different,” she said.

Some people are hoping that this film at least restarts conversations about finally putting Tubman on U.S. currency. The Obama administration had proposed putting her on the $20 bill, replacing former president and slaveholder Andrew Jackson. But the Trump administration’s Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, put those efforts into question in 2018, claiming that no decisions had been made “as to whether we’ll change the bill or won’t change the bill.”

The Trailer for Netflix's New Thriller Secret Obsession Is Serving Major Lifetime Vibes

Look out, Lifetime: It looks like Netflix is getting in on the “creepy relationship movie” game.

The streaming platform just released the trailer for a new thriller, Secret Obsession, that stars Brenda Song and Mike Vogel as a couple whose marriage isn’t all that it seems to be.

The trailer opens on Song’s character, Jennifer, waking up in the hospital, unsure of how she got there. Her husband, Russell (Vogel), says she was injured in an accident that left her with some major memory loss—she has no recollection of her modern life, including who her husband is. So she takes Russell’s word at face value.

But something definitely feels off as Russell takes Jennifer home to a gorgeous home in the mountains where he says the nearest neighbor is a mile away. A detective (Dennis Haysbert) starts digging into the case and quickly discovers that this Russell isn’t actually Russell at all. “The audience actually finds out the twist before my character does. I think the thrilling part of the movie is trying help Jennifer catch up,” Song told Refinery29.

Check out the trailer for yourself, below:

Secret Obsession is a departure from Netflix’s recent run of rom-coms like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Kissing Booth, and The Perfect Date—but we’re here for it. “I think people (me included) just love scaring themselves,” Song also told Refinery29. “Obviously having a stalker is no joking matter, but stalker movies are just so fascinating and terrifying.”

Song tweeted last month about the movie, “Sooo excited I can finally tell you guys that Secret Obsession is premiering in @Netflix on July 18th! Here’s a quick sypnopsis: Recuperating from trauma, Jennifer (Me) remains in danger as she returns to a life she doesn’t remember. Excited for you guys to see it!”

July 18 is only about a week away, people. Get ready.
