Taylor Swift's Groper Has a New Radio Job, and Her Supporters Aren't Happy

Months after Taylor Swift won her sexual assault trial, her convicted assaulter is being given a second chance at a career.

David Mueller, who was fired from his DJ job at a Denver radio station in 2013 after Taylor claimed he groped her during a concert meet-and-greet, has now been hired as a DJ at a Mississippi outlet. The Washington Post reports that the chief executive of the Greenwood-based radio station, Larry Fuss, fully believes David and not Taylor, which is primarily why he chose to hire him. (David was found guilty in his countersuit trial last August and was forced to pay a ceremonial $1 to Taylor as a result. He still denies any wrongdoing.)

“I sat down with him face-to-face in Minneapolis before I offered him the job and talked to him about it,” Fuss explained about his decision. “He’s either the world’s best liar, or he’s telling the truth. I tend to believe his version of the story and most people who have talked to him face-to-face do believe his version of the story.”

Unsurprisingly, Taylor’s fans have been rallying on Twitter to defend the artist and criticize Larry for hiring a convicted assaulter—in addition to David taking on the pseudonym of “Stonewall Jackson” for his newfound career. “To anyone who chose to ignore our reporting on how the country industry turns a blind eye to harassment and misconduct in country radio, here is more evidence. Shame on this station,” one user wrote. “Larry Fuss, #TimesUp. You might want to look into the hashtag,” another wrote. “Because I can tell you right now, the backlash you are receiving right now for your hiring decisions goes way beyond just Taylor Swift fans. This is about women, respect for women, and we will no longer be silent.”

“And yet another example of a man in power, a radio executive, who chooses to believe a man over a woman even after a jury of his peers found him guilty of sexual assault. Do not accept this offensive behavior, America. #timesup on sweeping sexual assault under the rug,” another added.

Taylor Swift's Fans Have Already Figured Out the Secret Words in the 'End Game' Video

When Taylor Swift releases a new music video, social media pretty much implodes. Fans comb through each frame, looking for clues and hidden messages, and then write elaborate theories about them on Twitter and Reddit—which more fans then gobble up. It’s madness, really; Swift’s music videos are more like cultural events than they are actual, well, music videos.

And a new one is about to drop, so get ready to see nothing but Swifties on your timeline for the next 24 hours. “End Game,” Swift’s song with Ed Sheeran and Future, is her next single off Reputation, and the video for it will be released at midnight on Thursday, January 11. The singer teased a short trailer for “End Game” on Instagram this morning, and fans are already flipping out.

Here’s what we know from the few seconds Swift previewed: Sheeran and Future are in it. There’s a lot of drinking happening, too. And yacht dancing. And neon lights. Basically, everyone is lit as hell in this music video—which is on brand for all the turn-up references found in Reputation. (Seriously, Swift talks about alcohol a lot on the album.)

But the most interesting part of the teaser is what’s behind Swift. In one quick frame, you see her walk down a road lined with neon signs in Japanese. Eagle-eyed fans took a screen-shot of the signs and did a little translation work—and what they say isn’t that surprising.

According to Tumblr user chansukcatsmile, Swift is referencing the following words on those neon signs: “End Game,” “A-Team,” Your first string,” “Reputation,” Meredith,” and “Olivia.” The first four phrases are lyrics in “End Game.” The last two, of course, are the names of Swift’s cats. Check it out for yourself, below:

Swift is nothing if not consistent. She pulled a similar move in the “Ready for It” video, and her cats are all over her Instagram. We’re here for it, though. Is it midnight yet?

Taylor Swift's 'End Game' Music Video Trailer Is Here—Watch Now

Say what you want about Taylor Swift, but the music videos she’s released during her Reputation era have been on point. Love or hate the song, the video for “Look What You Made Me Do” is so cinematic: Fifteen of her clones fight! She turns into a zombie and digs her own grave! At one point, she literally hisses! If it doesn’t sweep the MTV Video Music Awards this year, then what the hell is even the point of music video-making?

The “Ready for It” visuals, while not as dynamic as “Look What You Made Me Do,” are still badass. Swift seems to take a knock at Kanye West in the clip, rocking her birthday suit while channeling “Matrix”-esque superpowers. She also battles herself in the video, continuing the loose theme she started with “Look What You Made Me Do.”

And now we have a third video: “End Game.” Yes, my friends, despite having insanely better songs to choose from—cough, “I Did Something Bad,” cough—Swift is making “End Game” her next single. Don’t get me wrong: The mid-tempo jam, featuring Ed Sheeran and Future, is a bop, but there are better bops on Reputation.

That’s a debate for later, though. For now, let’s focus on the task at hand: the “End Game” video. Swift just teased a snippet of the video on her Instagram, and it looks interesting. Sheeran and Future make appearances, and a big portion of it seems to take place on a yacht. There’s drinking, there’s dancing, there’s hair-flipping—turn-up Taylor is in full swing here. Check it out for yourself, below:

The full “End Game” video drops at midnight. Let the fan theories begin.

Taylor Swift's Latest Instagram Comment Is Drawing Ire From Fans

Talk to any Taylor Swift fan, and they’ll likely lament about how upsetting it’s been that their gal hasn’t been doing much press to coincide with her new album, Reputation. Despite an occasional Twitter message here and Instagram photo there, Tay has remained unusually silent throughout the whole year, likely because she just wants her new music to speak for itself.

That’s why it was a surprise when Taylor took to her Instagram page on Wednesday to write a little message to her fans to celebrate her 28th birthday. “I love you guys so much. This was a photo @paul_sidoti took at @capitalofficial Jingle Bell Ball in London a few days ago. I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you,” she wrote. “Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Can’t wait to see what 28 will be like. See you on tour.”

However, despite the benign comment, many people on the Internet haven’t kindly received her “better year” sentiment. While Taylor may have had a good year winning a court case (and speaking up for survivors of sexual harassment), releasing an album, and being named a Time Person of the Year (alongside many other “silence breakers”), 2017 hasn’t been a great (or even average) year for a lot of people in the country. “Ya truly what could have gone better in 2017,” one Twitter user posited. “I need enough money to buy the privilege to be oblivious to everything,” another added. “To be fair, it’s been a good year for rich people,” a third joked. “I mean, the country is basically in flames, but at least T. Swift is doing alright!” another person noted.

Damn. Here’s hoping 2018 is better for all of us.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift's Friendship Is the 'Best Thing' They Got Out of Dating the Jonas Brothers

Two thousand eight was a momentous year: Juno and Ratatouille won Oscars, the American economy hit record lows, and Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift were each dating a Jonas brother (Nick and Joe, respectively). And though neither relationship made it to 2009, Gomez and Swift’s friendship stood the test of time and has become, according to Gomez, the “best thing” either of them got out of their short-lived, late-aughts love stories.

“We actually dated the Jonas brothers together! It was hysterical,” Gomez said during a visit to British radio station KISS FM this week. “It was amazing, because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.” Gomez also noted that she’d be willing to duet with Swift “anytime, any place,” saying, “She has been a fighter, a warrior, and a friend through all of this.”

Gomez, who is now sparking rumors of a rekindled romance with Justin Bieber, hastily added that there are no hard feelings between the two superstar pals and their boy-band exes. “They’re lovely, by the way. We’re all friends now,” she said. “We were young, you know; it’s a different time.” She and Nick have proved that they’re some of the best and most supportive exes in Hollywood: In 2015 she told Capital FM that they speak and hang out regularly. “We actually caught up the other day, and it’s really fun to be able to do that,” she said, adding that their relationship “was like puppy love. It was very sweet. He’s lovely. I do have a love for him for sure.” The following year Nick raved about Gomez’s recent work. “Selena has been incredibly, incredibly smart,” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “She played me Revival maybe six months before it came out, and I knew, like, this is excellent.”

And this summer, not long after the “Wolves” singer revealed that she had undergone a kidney transplant, Nick wished her well in an interview with SiriusXM’s Hits 1. “I was as surprised as everyone else when I woke up and saw her Instagram,” he said. “But wow, just incredible. And the strength she’s shown through all that’s amazing and inspiring. And I’m pumped for her. I’m happy to see that she’s doing well, it seems, and that she was able to get the surgery. And her friend helping her was a beautiful thing, so it’s all amazing.”

As for Swift and the elder Jonas, although they have yet to be as publicly friendly as Nick and Gomez, they did once go on an intimate river cruise in London together when Joe was dating Gigi Hadid and Swift was with Calvin Harris back in 2015. Both Jonases were also invited to Swift’s infamous Fourth of July party that same year. Would it be too far-fetched to expect to see Swift and Gomez at Joe’s upcoming wedding to Sophie Turner?

Ed Sheeran Just Squashed a Fan Theory About Taylor Swift's Song 'Dress'

Everyone knows that part of the fun of listening to a Taylor Swift song is speculating who they might be about. A crush? A secret lover? Katy Perry? John Mayer? Her latest album Reputation is full of songs that are about, depending on the track and what theory you believe, Kanye West, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, and Joe Alwyn. A more controversial theory even posits that “Dress” is about Ed Sheeran. But now, we have a definitive statement straight from the horse’s mouth on that one: No, it’s not.

“I don’t want you like a best friend / Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off,” Taylor sings on the track in question. The phrase “best friend” made many fans think of Ed Sheeran, one of Taylor’s longtime besties. Not to mention she also croons the words “shape of you” in the tune, which happens to be the name of a recent Sheeran hit song.

But on a recent livestream, Sheeran himself pointed to another lyric, “Flash back when you met me / Your buzzcut and my hair bleached” to prove he’s not the person Taylor bought the dress for.

“I don’t think it is. I think if you read into it…it’s not…You know, because she mentions someone with a buzzcut haircut, and I’ve never had a buzzcut haircut,” he said, per Time. Watch the video for yourself here.

In one of the Reputation ‘zines released to accompany the album, Taylor predicated the amount of scrutiny each song of hers would get. “When this album comes out, gossip blogs will scour the lyrics for the men they can attribute to each song, as if the inspiration for music is as simple and basic as a paternity test,” she wrote. Fair! Songs are rarely ever about just one person or just one moment. They could be about a compilation of feelings or a whole group of experiences.

That being said, Joe Alwyn did once have a buzzcut…
