Emma Stone Just Got a Perm and Documented the Whole Thing

Perms are having a comeback. Yes, perms—but no, not the crunchy, ’80s music video curls you remember. Instead, 2018’s version is much more subtle. Think heat-free beach waves you can just wash and go. Both Julianne Hough and Jenna Dewan Tatum are counted among fans, and now there’s one more celebrity to add to the list. Folks, Emma Stone just got a perm.

The beloved actress, redhead, and, on occasion, Daenerys Targaryen doppelganger was seen in rollers at Mare Salon, posing with her partner in permanent waves, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. And before you freak out, don’t—according to Goodwin’s caption, their new looks are “not your grandma’s perm!”

Behold the shot Goodwin shared of their perm process, from start to finish.

The technique, which many salons are calling a “digital wave”, starts around $350 depending where you go. It involves using a more diluted version of perm solution, where a stylist applies it to your hair, then wraps sections of hair around metal rollers (which you can see in the photo above). One of our staffers recently got it done and swears by how much time it’s cut off her routine.

While it’s hard to tell on wet hair exactly how curled—or wavy—Stone’s new hair will be, we think it’s safe to say that it’ll be damn good. And hey, if it’s less than perfect, at least she and her best friend will be growing out the look together.

Sharon Stone Had the Best Reaction When a Man Asked if She'd Ever Been Sexually Harassed

At this point, it’s safe to call Sharon Stone a living Hollywood legend. The actress has appeared in countless critically acclaimed roles and has been working in the entertainment industry for more than 40 years. So her reaction when she was asked by a male reporter if she’d ever experienced sexual harassment in the industry? Totally on point.

She appeared on CBS Sunday to promote her new limited HBO series Mosaic when reporter Lee Cowen asked the question—which, after waves of allegations rocking Hollywood and plethora of #MeToo stories, seems nearly redundant. Stone’s response was to throw her head back laughing.

Cowen followed up her reaction by asking, “You’re laughing but I-I don’t know if that’s a nervous laugh? Or [an] ‘Are you kidding me, of course I was’ laugh.”

After about 10 seconds Stone stopped laughing, and said, “I’ve been in this business for 40 years. Can you imagine the business I stepped into 40 years ago? Looking like I look, from nowhere Pennsylvania? I didn’t come here with any protection. I’ve seen it all.”

This isn’t the first time Stone has spoken out about the rampant sexual harassment in the entertainment industry—or the harassment all women face. During last week’s Golden Globes she wore all black to support the Time’s Up movement. But as she said in her CBS Sunday interview, she feels that women are finally leading the charge to change what is wrong with Hollywood.

“We were raised to accommodate men, particularly in my generation. And women so often lose their own identity to the identity of the men that they’re with,” she said. “We’re starting to acknowledge our own gifts as women and not think that we have to behave as men in order to be empowered or powerful or valuable.”

Emma Stone Canceled Plans on Jennifer Lawrence and Left Her With Half a Face of Makeup

Make some room in your heart, because Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence’s friendship is going to need the space. Last week brought us the pair’s delightful joint interview with W, where they discussed memories like their pet turtles and a shared stalker (believe it or not, much funnier than it sounds). The only downside is that it took until now for the two to get on screen together, especially when you see the dynamic we’ve been missing out on. But on the upside, they just gave fans an inside look at the their Golden Globes night. As expected, it’s gold.

According to a video Lawrence posted on Facebook, the two were supposed to meet up after the ceremony to go to some after parties together. As celebrities do, Lawrence called in a glam squad to prep her look for the night—so when Stone texted that she’d rather just hang out at home instead, as good friends do, Lawrence rolled with the change of plans.

That meant stopping everything and sending her squad home for the night, and that meant the Internet got an fantastic video of Lawrence wearing exactly one-half of a full-on look.

“What happened tonight?” Stone asks Lawrence, who’s shown in profile. “Well. You had told me you wanted me to be your date to the after parties, so I got us tickets to some after parties, and booked a car, and was halfway through glam when you told me told me that you didn’t want to go,” Lawrence slowly says, turning towards the camera. “That you just wanted to come over to my house, so I sent my hair and makeup team home. And now this is what I look like.” She stares at the camera with one pitch-black smoky eye. The woman knows drama, and that is some impeccable comedic timing.

Emma Stone Has Long Blonde Hair in 'Maniac'

Emma Stone is hard at work filming her new Netflix series Maniac, and apparently it involves a brand new look that’s less La La Land and more Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. On Tuesday, behind-the-scenes pics emerged showing the Oscar-winner with long platinum blonde hair that brings to mind Daenerys Targaryen or perhaos Orlando Bloom’s Legolas.

It’s not quite clear who Stone is playing in these on-set photos, but the stuff we know already about the series gives us a pretty good clue. Maniac is an adaptation of a Norwegian series from 2014, about a mentally ill man in a psychiatric hospital who creates a fantasy world. He’s played by Jonah Hill in the upcoming version, and Stone will play a fellow patient, according to Deadline. Since the actress appears to be in a high fantasy setting, we can probably surmise that this is a fantasy version of Stone’s character, depicted as an arrow-shooting elf in Hill’s character’s imagination. Other photos from the set show more elven ladies played by Julia Garner and Sally Field, so it looks like this particular fantasy scenario takes place in some kind of Tolkien-esque wilderness. (Previous photos of Stone on set showed her rocking a seriously ’80s haircut.)

Since Maniac is due to come out in 2018, it’s going to be a while until we get to see Stone as an ass-kicking, platinum-haired rogue. But if it’s as wild as these pictures seem to show, it should be well worth the wait.

Jennifer Lawrence Hilariously Photobombed Emma Stone on the Red Carpet

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are two of Hollywood’s purest friends. Ever since Stone texted J-Law and she responded “F-ck off!” they’ve been inseparable. (This is how all of us start friendships, right?) At the Governors Awards in Hollywood on Saturday, Lawrence exhibited another unique display of best-friendship by jumping into Stone’s red carpet photos, resulting in some adorably hilarious pictures.

Lawrence wore a black, floral embroidered Alexander McQueen crop top and long skirt, while Stone had on a sleek white buckled Louis Vuitton dress. But despite their sophisticated dresses, they got silly in their photos, where they’re laughing, dancing, and hugging—antics you don’t normally see on the red carpet. Or rather, J-Law is, while Stone contemplates where she should join in or strike a serious red-carpet pose.

“I love Emma,” Lawrence told Glamour for her February 2016 cover interview. “She cracks me up; she’s so ‘theater.’ She’s so adorable.”

This isn’t the first time the two have entertained us by bucking convention at industry events. During the Toronto International Film Festival in September, J-Law caught Stone off-guard by moving in to hug her when she wasn’t expecting it, eliciting a half-hearted back-pat on her part. But don’t be fooled by their awkwardness—they’re closer than ever.

Emma Stone Is Reportedly Dating 'SNL' Writer Dave McCary

Bad news, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield “shippers”: Emma’s got a new boyfriend, and there’s no Spidey suit in sight.

The La La Land star is dating Saturday Night Live writer and segment director Dave McCary, Page Six reports. The pair reportedly met when Emma hosted the show last December, and they attended the premiere of his film, Brigsby Bear, together in June, though no one seemed to notice they were together.

McCary isn’t the only SNL staffer who may be making an appearance on some Hollywood red carpets this year: Ben Affleck and Scarlett Johansson are also dating people they met during their own appearances on the show. According to Page Six, hosting SNL is apparently the “new Tinder.” Ha!

Even though it looks like any rekindling of the Stone/Garfield romance is officially off the table, the pair, who met while filming The Amazing Spiderman in 2012 and dated for three years, have managed to maintain a strong friendship in the years since their breakup. In August, Emma watched Andrew star in a performance of Angels in America in London, which fans took to mean that they were getting back together. Even though that apparently wasn’t the case, Emma has been very clear about the fact that Andrew is still someone she “loves very much.”

In true ex goals fashion, the support goes both ways. Earlier this year, Andrew visibly teared up while watching Emma receive the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in La La Land. In the past, he’s called himself Emma’s “biggest fan as an artist” and said that he is “constantly inspired by how she handles and holds herself.” He also noted that it’s been “bliss” to watch the successes she’s achieved throughout her career, and that it has been “wonderful to have that kind of support for each other,” calling it “nothing but a beautiful thing.”

The good news is, this means at least Andrew Garfield is still on the market.
