Carrie Underwood Just Slammed the Idea of 'Bouncing Back' After Having a Baby


Even in 2019, women—especially women in the public eye—face pressure to “bounce back” after giving birth. But Carrie Underwood is rebuking this idea entirely. In a new Instagram message posted on Tuesday, March 19, the country singer (who welcomed her second child, Jacob, this past January) shared her newfound perspective on what it means to have a “post-baby body.”

“I’m going to be honest, ‘bouncing back’ after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately,” Underwood wrote. “I go into the gym and I can’t run as fast or as far. I can’t lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself again… for my body to feel the way that I know it can.”

The Grammy winner then turned the idea of “bouncing back” on its head. Rather than dwelling on her frustration, Underwood is making a vow to embrace her body in all its iterations. “As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me,” she continued. “It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk. As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t.”

Moms, naturally, are living for Underwood’s message. “More people should post about the reality of bouncing back. It isn’t talked about enough,” one woman commented. “All us mamas need to give ourselves some grace,” replied another.

“I had a baby boy 10 months ago & it’s a struggle every day,” a third mom wrote in the Instagram comments section. “Our bodies are amazing. I do not regret how I look now knowing I have carried a beautiful life inside me.”

This isn’t the first time Carrie Underwood has opened up about motherhood and pregnancy. She tweeted about how annoying pregnancy insomnia is back in December, hilariously commenting, “Go bother dads.” She also tearfully shared how she and her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, experienced three miscarriages back-to-back.

Miss USA Slammed for Mocking Asian Miss Universe Contestants For Not Speaking English


Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers, is facing controversy after a video surfaced of her making what seems to be negative comments about two non-English speaking contestants taking part in the 2018 Miss Universe pageant being held in Thailand.

According to People, the video (which you can watch here) was part of an Instagram Live posted by Miss Colombia Valeria Morales, who appears alongside Summers and Miss Australia Francesca Hung.

“She’s so cute and she pretends to know so much English,” Summers said of Miss Vietnam H’Hen Nie. “And then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes — .” She then makes a blank, smiling expression that seems to mock H’Hen before laughing and adding, “She’s adorable.” Morales asks her to repeat the look and Summers obliges.

The trio then discusses Miss Cambodia Rern Sinat, who had earlier posted an Instagram photo of herself with Summers. “Miss Cambodia is here and doesn’t speak any English,” Summers said. “And not a single person here speaks her language. Can you imagine? Francesca said that it would be very isolating and I think yes, and just confusing all the time.”

Summers has since apologized in an Instagram post, although—as you’ll see below—social media reactions are coming fast and furious.

Obviously, social media users wasted no time in letting their criticisms of Summers’ comments be known.

“Do you speak any language except English?” one Instagram commenter asked. “Absolutely enraged that Miss USA, Miss Australia and Miss Colombia made fun of Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam for not being able to speak fluent English, TRASH,” wrote another user on Twitter. Another said, “@MissUniverse i wonder if you will still allow Miss USA, Columbia, and Australia to continue in the competition after their racist/ bigoted remarks toward fellow contestant Miss Cambodia. I can’t believe these ladies will be repersenting [sic] their countries!”

The Miss Universe pageant will air live Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.

Ivanka Trump Is Getting Slammed For Praising Oprah’s Golden Globes Speech


Causing a Twitter frenzy seems to be a family tradition for the Trumps. Ivanka got herself into some seriously hot water last night after tweeting about Oprah Winfrey’s 2018 Golden Globes speech, saying, “Just saw @Oprah’s empowering & inspiring speech at last night’s #GoldenGlobes. Let’s all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP!”

Twitter, as you’d expect, was not having it. Almost immediately, people slammed the First Daughter for the tone-deaf, hypocritical tweet, particularly because she’s been silent about allegations of harassment and sexual misconduct that her own father faces. At least 15 women have accused Donald Trump of non-consensual groping and kissing, and an Access Hollywood video uncovered in 2016 captures lewd and misogynistic remarks Trump made about grabbing women by the genitals. Ivanka called her dad’s comments “inappropriate and offensive,” but has largely avoided talking about his behavior in depth.

Twitter users, including celebrities such as Alyssa Milano and Chrissy Teigen, had a few words for the First Daughter. Milano suggested Ivanka donate to Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund to support her father’s accusers, while Teigen responded with a simple, “Ew, go away.”

It’s not the first time the public has criticized Ivanka for her silence. Earlier this month, Meryl Streep told The New York Times that she wanted both Ivanka and Melania Trump “to speak” and address the allegations surrounding Trump. Others have blasted Ivanka for staying quiet during her father’s most problematic presidential moments—SNL even trolled her with a faux-ad for a perfume called “Complicit,” which called Ivanka out for standing by the Trump administration, despite identifying as a feminist.

If Ivanka noticed indirect references Winfrey made to the Trump administration by mentioning “corruption” and a press “under siege” in her speech, she certainly didn’t show it. Winfrey gave the speech on Sunday after receiving the Cecil B DeMille award at this year’s Golden Globes. Her words won her a standing ovation at the ceremony and sparked an #Oprah2020 hashtag—plus rumors of an actual presidential campaign. The White House has said it would “welcome” Winfrey as a 2020 contender.

These Victoria's Secret Models Are Getting Slammed for Using a Racial Slur in This Video


Several models from the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show are facing backlash today after they were caught on camera singing the n-word backstage during the production.

Pop Crave, a music news Twitter handle, posted a clip on Wednesday afternoon of several Angels singing along to Cardi B’s hit “Bodak Yellow.” In the video, the models in the room, the majority of whom are white, sing along to literally every word in the song—including the n-word, which Cardi B says right before the lyric, “Don’t get comfortable.”

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to find this video and call out these Victoria’s Secret Angels for saying the word. “Nah. That n-word was too loud and clear for there only to be one black girl in this room,” one user tweeted. “Welp @VictoriasSecret plz fire all of them for saying the n-word all carefree. #thanks,” wrote another. This message, from @insatiablevices on Twitter, explains exactly why the video is so problematic: “If you’re not black, don’t say the N word. Point. Blank. Period.”

Several Twitter users rhetorically asked what word the Angels were using to make their point. “Cut a what now? ?,” tweeted a user named @SadieWiggles. “Quick cutting WHOM off???? ??” replied someone else.

This story even caught the attention of Cardi B. She hasn’t commented on the backlash directly yet, but she did retweet a message from a user named @IMLORDMA512 that read, “All these bitches said [the n-word], too.”
