Hoda Kotb Teared Up on the Today Show Talking About the Coronavirus


America’s morning show anchors—like Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on the Today show, or Gayle King on CBS This Morning—are in a unique position during a crisis like the coronavirus. They’re not only providing factual information and updates to millions of Americans but offering a steady voice and presence in a chaotic time.

But they’re also just people trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. Kotb, who is beloved by Today fans for her warmth and daily on-air “boosts,” showed that very relatable human side on Friday morning, March 27. After interviewing New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees about his family’s $5 million donation to COVID-19 relief efforts in Louisiana, she was visibly shaken and in tears. (Kotb worked for years in New Orleans and often talks about her love of Brees and the Saints on the show.)

As Kotb tried to gather herself in the studio and kept saying “sorry,” her co-anchor Guthrie (who is broadcasting from her home) said, “Oh Hoda, I know, it’s a lot. Hoda, I’m so sorry, hun. It’s a lot. I know where your heart is, I do,” before taking over the next story tease. The two discussed the moment later on Today. “You sort of look around for someone to hug just because—that’s also part of it,” Kotb said,

The response on social media to Kotb was heartwarming. “May sound weird, but Hoda Kotb crying on the @TODAYshow after interviewing Drew Brees was what I needed this morning. She kept apologizing. She didn’t need to. We’re all in this, and it’s hurting us all,” one person tweeted. Another said, “I think we are all Hoda right now.”

“Watching @hodakotb show emotion after a piece on her home is the most human thing I’ve seen. We love you Hoda! @TODAYshow,” wrote a third person.

'Making the Cut' Is More Than Your Typical Fashion Competition Show


At this moment in time, it’s hard to think about shopping for much besides groceries, paper towels, sanitizing wipes, and maybe a new pair of sweatpants. With uncertainty touching every industry, it’s about saving money for most of us.

Which is why it might seem like questionable timing for Amazon Prime Video to launch its new fashion competition series, Making the Cut, which literally wants viewers to shop. But the producers of the Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn-hosted series don’t necessarily agree. If anything, they say, they’re proud to invest in a show that’s less about creating an expensive runway look, and more about launching a global brand that’s affordable (all items are around $100 or less), size inclusive (US sizes will range from XXS to XXL), and has worldwide appeal.

“We know it’s a crazy time,” says executive producer, Sara Rea, by phone from Los Angeles. “My hope is that we can offer some levity and an escape.”

The 10-episode series has all the ingredients to do that, starting with hosts and executive producers Klum and Gunn, who help guide the contestants, offer constructive feedback, and explore each city along the way. The former Project Runway alums have partnered with Rea (who also executive produced Project Runway) to reinvent the genre by going bigger and bolder, while also being realistic to the needs of consumers.

“We spent 10 years together doing everything we could to invent and reinvent Project Runway—but under tight parameters,” Rea says. “We always had big ideas, so when this opportunity presented itself [where the consumer can buy the winning look after each episode in Amazon’s marketplace], we wanted to blow it out of the water and do something super-special and super-different.”

Klum tells Glamour that’s the main reason she wanted to be part of this new endeavor as well. “What inspired me was getting to do things that I couldn’t do for 17 seasons on [Project Runway], like traveling. It was important to show our contestants different places around the world—such as Paris, Tokyo, and New York—to help inspire them, plus amazing guest judges [like Naomi Campbell, Joseph Altuzarra, Nicole Richie, Chiara Ferragni talk about their life story and their experience.”

The ‘Love Is Blind’ Reunion Show Is Here—And the Fan Reactions Are Hilarious


Warning: This post contains major Love Is Blind spoilers.

The Love Is Blind reunion show dropped on Netflix in the wee hours of Thursday, March 5—and it most certainly didn’t disappoint.

The 12 main cast members reunited with hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey to rehash all that happened on the show—and everything that has transpired in the year and a half since. (The show filmed in 2018.) And they had a lot to say. Amber confronted Jessica over her continued flirtation with Barnett. Carlton and Diamond seemed to get some closure. Damian and Giannina told us they are back together. We all fell collectively more in love with Lauren and Cameron, who are still together—thank goodness. We don’t need that heartbreak in this dark and twisty world right now.

As they have throughout the show’s run, people on social media had strong reactions to the Love Is Blind reunion.

Of course, there was the Barnett, Amber, and Jessica of it all. “Amber dragging Jessica for filth is exactly what I needed to happen in the Love is blind reunion,” one person tweeted. Another commented on Barnett’s facial reactions during the confrontation, “Barnett’s face while amber is going in on Jessica on the love is blind reunion is a big moood.”

People continued to have a lot of opinions about what went down between Carlton and Diamond. “LMFAO the Love Is Blind reunion was interesting. Highlights, Carlton doing the most in the apology to Diamond ??‍♂️, Amber reading tf out of ‘Mess-ica’ and Lauren and Cameron being the best thing to come out of the show,” one fan wrote.

America’s sweethearts, Lauren and Cameron, did not disappoint fans. Their love feels very real—and they seem so happy. Some were clamoring for a spin-off.

We just need to know one thing: if (and when) season two is happening. Your move, Netflix.

North West Performing at the Yeezy Show in Paris Is the Best Thing You’ll See Today


North West continues to be way chicer and cooler than all the adults on earth combined. Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West’s 6-year-old daughter took the stage at the Yeezy show at Paris Fashion Week on Monday (March 2) and effortlessly rapped as models strutted up and down the runway. Yes, you read that correctly: North West is now officially in the rap game. We’re sure her father, one of the most prolific hip hop artists ever, is so proud.

In fact, I can say with relative certainty that he is. Just look at the smile on his face when he joins North on stage. This is the famous-person equivalent of a parent cheering their kid on at a community soccer game—except instead of Gatorade and apple slices, we have a sea of cream-colored couture.

“A house of four is wild,” Kardashian said on The View about her children. “But complete. Very balanced.”

When asked if she’d be having more children, she said, “Absolutely no more.” She added, “When you have to be responsible for every single soul and morning…. I can’t even begin to tell you what getting ready in the morning is like…I do [have help]…and I love everyone who has been so helpful. But my husband is on this no-help kick, so I’m like, ‘Okay, you try the morning.’”

Here’s hoping an album is North West’s future. I’m ready for her to stampede the charts.

Here’s Why the Bachelor Is Not Allowed to Give His Jacket to the Women on the Show


A producer on The Bachelor wants you to know that Peter Weber is a chivalrous dude who would totally give his jacket to his date if she were cold. He’s just not supposed to.

No, I’m not joking. The reason Pilot Pete is never caught on camera pulling this particular rom-com move is simple: It looks “silly.” The question was raised by a concerned Entertainment Weekly reporter who noticed Madison was cold in the latest episode of The Bachelor—you know, the one in which she dipped after finding out he slept with another contestant during Fantasy Suite week.

“The Bachelor nearly always offers his jacket to every shivering woman sitting in front of him,” the producer told EW. “But [we] tell him not to, because it looks so damn silly.”

But it’s the next part of the source’s statement that sends me. Apparently, pashminas are kept on site to avoid multiple shots of “a small woman draped in an enormous blazer.” A. Small. Woman. Draped. In. An. Enormous. Blazer. I’m getting that tattooed on my shoulder to remind me to always bring a coat to my next breakup with a partner who’s dating two other women.

This is far from the biggest controversy the producers have faced this week. Fans were not impressed by the unprecedented choice to have the three remaining women live together during the Fantasy Suite dates. Chris Harrison explained that the goal was to create an “uncomfortable zone” that would force Madison to be honest with Peter about her virginity and her opposition to staying in the competition should he choose to sleep with Victoria F. or Hannah Ann.

“Sometimes we do it for your behalf; sometimes we do it for the guy’s or the girl’s,” he said on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “This situation was pretty extraordinary because Peter had kicked the can down the road, but also, this time Madison had. So this was to force a situation that had to happen, and it had to happen this week.”

No word yet on whether or not Madison returns to the show before Peter gets down on one knee (all signs point to yes). Wherever she is, I hope she’s warm.
