Rose Leslie and Kit Harington Just Got Married, and Their Wedding Looks Incredible

As if our summer wedding calendar couldn’t get any better (looking at you, royal wedding for the ages), Game of ThronesKit Harington and Rose Leslie are officially hitched. They tied the knot Saturday in Scotland in front of family, friends, and their close cast mates from Game of Thrones.

“We are absolutely thrilled for Kit and Rose to be marrying today,” Leslie’s father, Sebastian, told Sky News on Saturday morning before the ceremony.

So are the couple’s GoT cast members—if the guest list is any indication, that is: Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Malin Akerman, Jack Donnelly, and Peter Dinklage all showed up at Rayne Church in the village of Kirkton of Rayne, Aberdeenshire, to celebrate their friends’ wedding.

The groom arrived at the church looking dapper in his tux and signature Jon Snow hair (the series is still being filmed). Shortly thereafter, Leslie followed suit, entering the church accompanied by her father and wearing a stunning long-sleeved Elie Saab lace gown.

According to reports, Leslie and Harington invited close to 200 guests to join them for their big day and reception in Wardhill Castle, an actual castle owned by the Leslie family. How very appropriate, no?

Congrats to the happy couple!

Rose Leslie Literally Doesn't Have Time to Marry Kit Harington

Game of Thrones fans let out a collective, “awww” a few months ago when news broke about Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s engagement. The two co-stars confirmed in September they’re tying the knot via a formal announcement in London’s Times newspaper. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire,” read the announcement, which was retweeted and shared thousands of times on social media.

The months since then have been filled with stories about Harington and Leslie’s relationship and engagement. Harington revealed in October that he actually messed up his proposal to Leslie. “I did have some plans to do it; I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine, and…I popped my question a bit early,” he said, according to The Sun. Later, he revealed Game of Thrones will actually have to shut down for their wedding because…everyone’s invited.

So when are these actual nuptials happening? Well, according to Leslie’s new interview with Town & Country, it might be a while. The actress joked to the publication that she’s trying to “fit in” her wedding with the hectic GoT filming schedule. “I haven’t tackled it,” she said. “There’s just too much to do.”

Which is understandable. Wedding planning is no joke—even for people who aren’t on a hit HBO series. Fingers crossed it happens some time in 2018, though, so we can have two royal weddings.

Kit Harington Kindly Requests That You Stop Asking Him and Rose Leslie for Pictures, Please

In recent years a handful of celebrities have taken strong stances against posing for selfies with fans on the street—and for good reason. Two of the most recent additions to this antiselfie squad are Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, who almost certainly get stopped all the time when they’re out and about, considering they’ve both appeared in one of the biggest shows on TV and also recently announced their engagement.

In an interview published in The Guardian over the weekend, Harington opened up about how “bizarre and weird” it is to be hounded at all hours by overzealous fans. “Like, being in Spain and there being a crowd of 500, maybe 600 fans camped outside the hotel every day, and you have to get through them. It feels like being Bieber or something,” he said.

Of his being something of a Justin Bieber–level heartthrob, Harington said, “Yeah, I don’t particularly enjoy that,” before adding, “I don’t know. Do I? I’m glad I’ve experienced it, but that’s what I mean about it being eight years, then it’s done. You couldn’t go on for much longer. It’s a bit incessant.” This incessant fame, he said, “makes me snappy and it makes me uncomfortable, and I turn into a grumpy person.”

His biggest issue of all is “the photo thing,” he said, explaining that he sets aside entire days during which he’ll refuse to take photos with fans. Harington told the newspaper that although the spiel he gives fans on these no-selfie days can leave them frustrated and annoyed, “you just have to, otherwise you start feeling like a mannequin.” He continued, “Especially me and Rose, we never do a photo together. Because then it makes our relationship feel like…puppets. Like we’re a walking show.”

He went on to explain why he’s so protective of his relationship with Leslie. “I just don’t—and I won’t say much about it now—but I don’t believe in talking about one’s relationship in the press because it’s…I strongly believe it’s her relationship and mine, and anything I say here, she may not want me to say,” he said. “So I just don’t say it. I genuinely think it’s our private life.”

The couple, who met and fell in love while starring as an unlikely couple onscreen in GoT, is indeed notoriously private: Instead of revealing their engagement news in September through a tabloid or on social media, they published a small, classic announcement in The Times of London.

But they’re not the only celebrities who refuse to take photos with fans. Their Game of Thrones costar Maisie Williams told Nylon last year that “if I don’t want a picture one day, I don’t have a problem saying no. I know some people get really weird about that, like, ‘You’re so mean.’ But if I was really in love with someone, I wouldn’t just want a picture. I would want to hang out with them,” she said. And in the September 2017 issue of Vogue,], Jennifer Lawrence shared that although she’s “happy to meet people, give autographs, shake hands, and say ‘Thank you,'” she doesn’t feel bad declining selfie requests. “It’s just, if I’m on an airplane and I have no makeup on, I don’t want to take a selfie that’s going to end up on E!”

Kit Harington Cried Reading the Last 'Game of Thrones' Script

For Game of Thrones fans, anticipation over the impending eighth and final season is enough to turn stomachs into knots. For eight years—almost a decade!—we’ve been following the clashing kingdoms of Westeros, worshipping Khaleesi‘s relentless queenly fierceness (and icy winter fashion, and platinum waves), and falling a tiny bit in love with IKEA-rug-wearing Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington. Apparently, Harington’s loved being on the show as much as we’ve loved watching him it, and he’s quite torn up about how it all ends.

“I’m really emotional about it. We had the read-through last week, so I know everything,” he told “The One Show” this week. “I cried at the end—not over anything particular that happened—but it’s been eight years, and no one cares about it more than we do.”

“It’s been an institution longer than any other institution I’ve been in,” he-of-the-perfectly-wavy-hair-even-in-blizzards continued. “School, drama school, anything. I get a bit weepy thinking about it. It’s going to be a strange year saying goodbye to everyone and having last scenes with this person and that person. Not only you’re attached to it, loads of people around the world are attached to it.”

(Well, not everyone: he won’t be saying goodbye to fiancée Rose Leslie, who played his former love Ygritte on the show. Ah, Game of Thrones, you work in wonderful ways.)

According to a Guardian profile about Harington published on Saturday, Jon Snow was a role he auditioned for shortly after drama school—so there’s no doubt that this is a hard one to walk away from (though the show didn’t actually kick off for another four years after he tried out).

Sigh. All good things must come to an end, but are we sure there’s no hope for an encore season??

Game of Thrones fans across the world rejoiced on September 26 when co-stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie confirmed their IRL engagement. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the ad the couple took out in The Sunday Times read. (Yes, Harington and Leslie announced their engagement via newspaper, which is the classiest and most iconic thing ever.)

Also iconic? Harington’s proposal to Leslie, which he opened up about to Jonathan Ross last week. Apparently, he’d set everything up perfectly—mood lighting, candles, the works—but it all fell apart when he asked the golden question a little prematurely. “I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early,” he said, according to The Sun. He quickly clarified his interesting choice of words by saying, “I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load…Sorry, that’s a really bad expression.”

Yes, Harington and Leslie’s engagement has truly been one charming story after the next. And the excitement continues tonight with new photos of Leslie wearing—wait for it—her engagement ring in public.

E! reports paparazzi caught Leslie at Heathrow Airport on Sunday (October 8) with the new, gorgeous ring on her finger. Check it out for yourself, below. It literally deserves its own Iron Throne.

There’s no word yet on when Leslie and Harington plan to tie the knot, but Harington told Ross that it will be a Game of Thrones cast affair. “I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding, by the way,'” he said, per The Sun. “They [the cast] have all got to be there, so the whole thing has got to shut down.”

Kit Harington Reveals He Messed Up His Proposal to Rose Leslie

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie made all Game of Thrones fans’ dreams come true when they confirmed their engagement last week. Not surprisingly, their announcement, which ran in The Times newspaper, was posh and classic. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the spot read. Quite frankly, it doesn’t get any more perfect than this. Two hot British actors taking out space in a newspaper to declare their love for each other? That’s what fairytales are made of.

But the exact proposal apparently wasn’t as perfect. In a new interview with Jonathan Ross, Harington reveals his engagement plans went awry when he asked the golden question a little too early.

“I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early,” he said, according to The Sun.

Realizing his, erm, peculiar choice of words, he quickly clarified, “I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load…Sorry that’s a really bad expression.” See, guys! Even Jon Snow gets nervous.

The couple is now in full wedding-planning mode; Harington revealed to Ross he told the Game of Thrones producers that the show has to shut down for their wedding so everyone can attend. After all, Harington and Leslie did meet on set.

“I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.”

I’ll be waiting patiently by the mail for my invite.
