'The Office' Is Leaving Netflix—and People Are Freaking Out

“Everybody stay calm! Everybody stay calm!” or “NO! GOD! PLEASE NO!” or “I don’t hate it. I just don’t like it at all and it’s terrible.”

We imagine that’s what Steve Carell‘s Michael Scott would say upon learning that The Office is leaving Netflix for NBC Universal’s as-yet-unreleased streaming platform. The good news is that Netflix confirmed none of this is happening until 2021, so you still have plenty of time to binge watch all the antics at Dunder-Mifflin’s Scranton branch.

The show, which aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013, has found a second, wildly popular life on Netflix. (However, Netflix doesn’t release its viewing numbers.) “I believe it’s the No. 1 most-popular acquired show on Netflix… there are millions of streams of those episodes,” NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt told New York magazine in September. “I believe that Netflix has helped make The Office extraordinarily popular, and more popular than it was when it was on the network. And they pay us a lot of money for it. If we knew how popular it was going to be before they made the deal, we would have asked for more money from them!”

The Office is one of our most prized series, and we are thrilled it has found an exciting new home where generation after generation will continue to discover and rediscover Michael Scott’s most cringe-worthy moments, Jim and Pam’s will-they-or-won’t-they, and the incredible quirky ensemble that makes each episode a masterclass in comedy,” said Pearlena Igbokwe, President, Universal Television, said in a statement. NBCUniversal’s ad-supported steaming service is set to launch sometime in 2020.

Given the popularity of the show that helped launch the careers of people like Mindy Kaling, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, and BJ Novak, people are freaking out about the news on social media. While it’s a bummer, we do applaud the excellent use of GIF reactions. Some social media users also offered alternate viewing methods for the show.

We’ll get though this together, everybody. Perhaps a fashion show at lunch might help ease the pain?

People Are Freaking Out Over Elle Fanning’s Cannes Film Festival 2019 Fashion

To say Elle Fanning has been turning it out on the red carpet at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival would be a serious understatement. As a member of the festival’s jury (the youngest ever!), she’s expected to show up for all the major premieres—and oh, has she shown up.

Night after night, event after event, Fanning and longtime stylist Samantha McMillen have been putting together some epic looks, and people can’t handle it. One particular Dior ensemble—a custom couture creation, inspired by an iconic 1947 photograph—has gotten everyone talking. The actress wore a full skirt, a ruffled blouse, and a wide-brim hat to the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood and, appropriately, and looked like an Old Hollywood movie star. She even got the poses down on the red carpet.

The outfit is actually a callback to a famous black-and-white photo of a model wearing one of Christian Dior’s haute couture creations in the 1940s. According to the brand, it took 450 hours to make Fanning’s modern recreation of the look.

And every last second was worth it, judging from the extremely positive reaction on social media. “ELLE FANNING….. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING UP AT THIS LEVEL,” one user wrote. Another had a brilliant request for the Hollywood powers that be: “Y’all better cast elle fanning (21) and rosamund pike (40) as a daughter-mother grifter duo in some noirish movie asap!”

Fanning’s fashion commitment to her lewks appears to be endless: Earlier this week, it was reported that she actually fainted at a cocktail party because the corset on her Prada dress was too tight. But not to worry, she posted on Instagram afterward about it, reassuring fans that she was okay.

“Oops, had a fainting spell tonight in my 1950’s Prada prom dress but it’s all good!! #dresstootight #timeofthemonth,” she captioned a selfie.

In light of the Dior look, To All the Boys I Loved Before author Jenny Han chimed in on the Twitter conversation, sharing her thoughts on what makes Fanning’s approach to fashion so delightful to watch. “What I love about Elle Fanning’s red carpet style is she is always very much herself,” she wrote. “There’s always a little bit of whimsy, a little tartness, and it’s always fun. She’s evolved just beautifully while staying completely true to herself! What I’m saying is I stan.”

Well said, Jenny.

Beyoncé Just Dropped a Surprise Live Album, and People Are Freaking Out

Happy Bey Day, everyone! As expected, Beyoncé‘s highly-anticipated documentary, Homecoming, is now streaming on Netflix. The doc takes us all inside the preparation for her iconic 2018 Coachella performance, a tribute to the historically black colleges and universities in America. But because Beyoncé is Beyoncé, she also decided to drop a surprise album in the middle of the night, as well.

Homecoming: The Live Album contains 40 tracks and is now available on all major streaming platforms. It’s basically a live greatest hits album with bangers like “Diva,” “Run the World,” “Lose My Breath,” “Crazy in Love,” and more making up the track list. The real joy, though, is that this is yet another way to experience the magic of what became known as Beychella. It’s also the first solo album that Bey has released since 2016’s Lemonade. (She and Jay-Z released Everything Is Love together last summer during their global tour.)

And the album art is something to behold, naturally:

Obviously, the Beyhive was beyond pumped about the surprise album and the documentary. In fact, Homecoming is already topping the iTunes charts. “The concept, arrangements/remixes, dance, her voice,” one fan wrote. “Beyoncè has gotten to the point where she could put out mediocre shit and people would still eat it up but she’d never do that. She’s always gonna bang out visuals, intricate dance moves and amazing vocals.” Another tweeted, “The biggest artist in the world is a black woman & she’s killing it how can you not like #Beyoncé.” While one social media user pointed out the power of Beyoncé in dropping a surprise album of old music in the middle of the week and having it go immediately to the top of the chart.

See more reactions, below:

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to go stream Homecoming on a loop forever.

The Notebook's Ending Is Different on Netflix, and People Are Freaking Out

The Notebook is arguably one of the most iconic romance movies of all time. In fact, the Nicholas Sparks book-turned-film is so beloved, I wouldn’t be surprised if fans could recite it by heart.

That’s why what’s happening in England right now is so fascinating: Fans who have tried watching The Notebook on Netflix U.K. are noticing it includes a major change to the ending we all know and love.

There are spoilers ahead, so quit reading now if you haven’t watched the movie. Digital Spy reports fans aren’t happy with the Notebook ending Netflix U.K. has on its platform. The original ending, if you forget, takes place in a nursing home: The two main characters, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling), are now much older and die in a loving embrace. I’m tearing up just thinking about it.

But this isn’t what happens in Netflix U.K.’s version. Instead, the couple lies in bed together, but what happens next is unclear. According to Digital Spy, the scene pans to flying birds (???) before we see Allie and Noah pass away. One fan explained what happens on Twitter: “The alternate one just cuts off when Noah and Allie are holding hands in the bed and fades to black. I really can’t understand why. It’s weird.”

Several viewers are upset with this change. “I’m not big into romantic movies, but I have seen #TheNotebook and @Netflix, what you did wasn’t OK. That ending was beautiful. It’s all I can ever hope for in my marriage, so when I finally eat dirt I can go with the one I love. Don’t you dare take that away,” one person tweeted. Another fan agreed, writing “Its shocking. Give us back our gut-wrenching tears.”

Meanwhile, others are defending the switch. “They just cut out the bit where the nurse finds them. They still died in each other’s arms. It’s still implied,” one fan tweeted. Another viewer noted this version is actually true to the book, writing, “The alternate ending of The Notebook is more similar to that of the actual book, and there’s a sequel, so it’s definitely prepping us for the sequel.”

Netflix U.K. addressed the alternate ending on Twitter, writing, “Things you should know: We did not edit The Notebook. An alternate version exists and was supplied to us. We are getting to the bottom of it ASAP. Apparently some films have more than one ending?!”

It’s unclear which ending Netflix U.S. users will get when The Notebook becomes available March 1, but buy some extra tissues, just in case.

The Internet Is Freaking Out Over This Ultra-Candid Instagram Video of Beyoncé

To a wide swath of planet Earth, Beyoncé is a celestial being who towers over the rest of us mere mortals, casually doing things like making Coachella history, dominating events she didn’t even attend, and triggering applause for walking out of a room.

But every once in a while, she does something to remind us that under her carefully put-together image is a human. Case in point, this weekend: Much to the delight of the Beyhive, Beyoncé’s longtime friend Mally Roncal posted an Instagram video of Queen Bey caught in the relatable act of posing for a video that she thought was a photo.

In the clip, Roncal asks, “Who’s the most beautiful woman on the planet?” while Beyoncé shows off her best selfie-mode kiss-face. Quickly, she realizes that Roncal is shooting a video and starts cracking up. “Wait―this is a video? Sorry,” she says through laughter. “I’m over here making fish lips.”

Roncal captioned the photo by saying, “I met this Other Worldly Earth Angel when she was 19 years old and now, two marriages, 6 kids, countless makeup sessions, photo/video shoots, award ceremonies and 16 years between us, every time is see you it’s like yesterday! Thank you for your loving, kind, silly, inspiring spirit.”

Of course, fans freaked out about how shockingly normal the whole interaction seemed. They quickly turned to social media to gush about how much joy Bey’s single moment of confusion brought them.

“Cannot describe the way my heart rate LEAPS when I see a candid video of Beyoncé,” one person wrote. Someone else joked, “Beyonce invented ‘oh wait this is a video’ never heard it before today.”

It is not the first time Beyoncé has left her fans shook by doing something a regular person would do. She, at one point in human history, has held a juice box, visited Target, and worn $10 mascara.

Could it be that Beyoncé is (gasp) just like us? We can’t be sure—we’ll just have to wait for more evidence to emerge.

Miley Cyrus Deleted Her Entire Instagram, and Fans Are Freaking Out

First there was Taylor Swift, who deleted her Instagram and blacked out her website shortly before the release of her first single from Reputation last August. In May, there was the mysterious case of Blake Lively wiping her Insta. The results? Predictable, with the Internet unsurprisingly freaking out—until it was revealed it was a PR move for her upcoming movie. Now Miley Cyrus has gone and done it: Fans noticed Cyrus started deleting hundreds of posts from her Instagram account—including ones with fiance Liam Hemsworth—and had wiped all of her posts by the end of the week.

But before anyone speculates about any Hemsworth-related drama, his ‘grams with Cyrus are still up (phew!). Cyrus’ move is most likely music-related: Per the precedent set by Swift and Lively, this might just signal a new project that’s on the way.

Producers linked to Cyrus’ new music, like Miike WiLL Made It, Oren Yoel, and Andrew Wyatt have all blacked out their headers on Twitter too. Cyrus’ tweets are still intact, but her header is also black, and her website is down.

See both accounts below:

The singer hasn’t put out a new album since Younger Now in 2017—and before that record dropped, Cyrus said she was already working on new music.

“I’m already two songs deep on the next one,” she told BBC Radio 1 last year. “I want to figure out what I want to do next. ”

Us Weekly also reported that Cyrus is working on new music with Mark Ronson at the same New York City studio where Lady Gaga records out of, and there are rumors that the two stars may be working on songs together.

This latest celebrity blackout has not stopped fans from speculating about what’s to come for Cyrus and what they hope to see, most posting with the hashtag #MileyIsComing. The fan theories range from a surprise wedding and a new musical era to a surprise album.

What this actually means, of course, is TBD—but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes out for more.
