Camila Morrone Addresses the 23-Year Age Gap With Boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio

Camila Morrone is getting serious acclaim for her breakout role in the independent film Mickey and the Bear—her performance has even led people to compare her to Jennifer Lawrence. It has also helped shift Hollywood’s gross reduction of her as simply “Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend,” although there’s been new attention applied to their relationship, specifically their 23-year age difference. (She’s 22; he’s 45.) Speaking to the Los Angeles Times this week, Morrone made it clear she’s not too concerned about the gap or what people think of it.

“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood—and in the history of the world—where people have large age gaps,” she said, adding, “I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.” She did admit she kind of understands the fascination with the relationship, which seems to have started sometime in 2017 when they were first spotted together. “I probably would be curious about it too,” she said.

Morrone is right that there are tons of relationships with large age gaps in Hollywood, but consistently it seems to be men dating much younger women. This is so prevalent that the internet was surprised when actor Keanu Reeves stepped onto the red carpet with a woman closer to his age (she’s eight years younger).

Camila Morrone didn’t go into other details about dating DiCaprio, focusing instead on how Mickey and the Bear has opened up new opportunities for her and established who she is outside of her boyfriend. “I think more and more now that people are seeing the film, I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that,” she said. “Which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating.” She continued, “I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”

Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie Shaded Leonardo DiCaprio About That Titanic Door Scene

Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie are currently making the rounds promoting their upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But during a recent interview with MTV, the three stars weighed in on a controversial moment from DiCaprio’s past: that famous Titanic door scene.

In the almost 22 years since the film’s 1997 debut, the topic of whether or not Jack could have fit on the floating door that allowed Kate Winslet‘s Rose’s heart to go on has been hotly debated. Of course, he does not, dies, and sinks down into the ocean as Rose floats to safety. Back in 2017, Winslet told Stephen Colbert that Jack “should have tried harder to get on that door,” and it appears that Robbie agrees with this sentiment.

“Oh my God, I thought it,” she replies when interviewer Josh Horowitz, throws out the question, “Could Jack have fit on that door at the end of Titanic?” She goes on to say that she remembers “bawling her eyes out as a girl.” DiCaprio insists (with a smile) throughout the exchange that he has “no comment.” Horowitz says, “That’s telling, I think.”

“That is funny,” Pitt says. “I’m going to have to go back and look now, shoot. Certainly.” He goes on to rib DiCaprio, “Could you? Could you? Could you have squeezed in there? You could’ve, couldn’t you?” DiCaprio holds strong with another, “No comment” even as Robbie asks whether he inquired about the logistics at the time.

Watch the exchange for yourself below.

The social media replies show that time hasn’t slowed down the need for answers to this all-important question. In fact, this one interview will probably ignite the debate all over again. “It wasn’t space that was the issue, it was buoyancy. Myth Busters proved it,” one user wrote. “He could have fit on the door, There was room for two of that door,” another insisted.

The mystery lives on, I guess.

Leonardo DiCaprio Got Hit in the Face With a Volleyball, and the Memes Are A+

We’ve seen Leonardo DiCaprio battle a grizzly bear, take on the mob, and try to survive a massive iceberg collision. However, the actor may have met his biggest adversary yet this week—a volleyball.

On Tuesday, TMZ published a slew of images of DiCaprio just trying to relax and enjoy the summer in Malibu by playing a friendly game of volleyball with his pals. Unfortunately, not even the actor’s decades-long career and long-awaited Academy Award could save him from the wrath of the volleyball. TMZ caught the exact moment when the ball smacked DiCaprio directly in the face, to both the horror and the delight of the internet. These photos are more tragic than the “I’ll never let go, Jack” scene in Titanic—also, we hope Leo is okay—but we’re here for the memes, which began pouring out of Twitter almost immediately.

But first, please enjoy the photo that started it all:

“I would have never thought that @LeoDiCaprio could be an accurate representation of me in high school attempting PE,” one person tweeted. “Leonardo DiCaprio getting smacked in the face by a volleyball sums up how my year is going in one image,” someone else wrote.

And of course, there were also a ton of Wilson references, since the whole scene looks like a remake of Tom Hanks’s Castaway with the volleyball starring as the villain. “Finally, @tomhanks gets revenge on @LeoDiCaprio for #CatchMeIfYouCan by sending Wilson after him,” one person joked.

The funniest part of it all is that DiCaprio seems to actually really like volleyball. The Daily Mail reported that he’d been spotted playing with Ansel Elgort at Malibu Beach last year, and a few weeks later he challenged Scott Eastwood to a match. Maybe he’s just rusty since it’s the beginning of summer? Regardless, let’s just hope he and the volleyball work things out ASAP.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet Never Had Crushes on Each Other

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are best friends. People of the Internet know this—and they’re obsessed. When Winslet revealed she and DiCaprio quote Titanic lines to each other, Twitter let out a collective “awww.” Nineties babies across the world did a happy dance when the two of them were photographed on a (platonic) BFF vacation in Saint-Tropez. And when Winslet cried and cheered on DiCaprio for essentially the entire 2016 awards season? Done.

Of course, social media still ships these two hardcore, despite the fact Winslet is, ya know, married. (She tied the knot with Ned Rocknroll in 2012.) Both DiCaprio and Winslet have said, on several occasions, that their relationship is more akin to brother and sister than romantic. Even still, people won’t let the idea of Jack and Rose ending up together IRL die.

But maybe this new interview with British journalist Lorraine Kelly will do the trick. As Elle reports, Winslet told Kelly this morning that she and DiCaprio “never” had crushes on each other. Yes, my friends, you read that correctly: There was never any spark between Winslet and DiCaprio, aside from what we saw on screen. To be honest, this is probably why their friendship has lasted so long. Feelings complicate things!

“[Titanic] was seven months of very intense work, we were both really very young,” she said. “And luckily, and this was the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other. I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry. We really never did. So it did mean that we were able to have this… be able to tease each other, which we still do, which is really amazing.”

Agreed. We’ll take Winslet and DiCaprio’s sibling-like jabs over a relationship any day of the week. After all, romance is what Titanic is for.

Kate Winslet Says She and Leonardo DiCaprio Quote 'Titanic' to Each Other

We finally have confirmation that Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio’s real-life friendship is pretty much what we’ve been picturing.

In a recent interview with Glamour UK, cover star Winslet opened up about her BFF of two decades DiCaprio (the duo met on the set of Titanic, obviously, which premiered to the world in 1997), and to this day, the pair is as close as ever, and Winslet confirmed that their conversations often date back to their humble beginnings aboard the doomed vessel.

“You don’t even want to know the last conversation we had, because it was so funny and made me laugh so much,” Winslet revealed. “We found ourselves saying to each other, ‘Can you imagine if the world really knew the stupid things we say?’ I’m not going to tell you what we actually talk about, but yeah, we’re very, very close and sometimes we do quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other, because only we can, and we find it really funny.” Be still my heart of the ocean.

For years, we’ve watched the two actors spend quality time together through a paparazzi lens or at an awards show, on the other side of our television screens. While they were never romantically linked, we will still forever see the friends as Jack and Rose—deep down. The pair was most recently spotted vacationing together in St.-Tropez, on the French Riviera, and at DiCaprio’s annual Foundation Gala, held on July 26, where a private dinner with DiCaprio and Winslet was actually auctioned off for charity.

And now we know for sure: The heart does, in fact, go on.

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio Had a BFF Vacation in Saint-Tropez

The Internet has been shipping Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio for 10 years now, but let’s get one thing straight: They’re just friends. Yes, they might’ve had incredible chemistry in Titanic—and later in the 2008 drama Revolutionary Road—but their relationship IRL is strictly platonic. Winslet has said on multiple occasions DiCaprio is like a brother to her. They’re basically Lizzie and Gordo from Lizzie McGuire.

So the fact the two of them recently vacationed together in Saint-Tropez, France shouldn’t raise any, “OMG, are they dating?” eyebrows. No, y’all, this was strictly a best-friends getaway. (It happened at the end of July, if you’re curious.) Besides, Winslet is married to Ned Rocknroll. And DiCaprio walked her down the aisle! Straight men and women can absolutely spend time together without it being a thing.

But this is still exciting from a nostalgic perspective. It’s honestly so cute that DiCaprio and Winslet are such good friends. Celebrities say all the time that they’re close with their co-stars, but that’s typically just PR nonsense. DiCaprio and Winslet are actually BFFs*—the type of pals who drink bad wine and eat a whole pizza together while making fun of their past relationships. They probably make Titanic puns, and Winslet no-doubt makes fun of DiCaprio for sleeping in a dead horse in The Revenant. Check out a photo of them hanging poolside, below:

Sweet, right? Here’s what I hope Winslet and DiCaprio are talking about in this pic:

  1. Leo: So, I watched Titanic last night; Kate: Why would you ever do that?

  2. Leo: Remember the time you released a song? Kate: STFU, you were in Growing Pains.

  3. Leo: So I think we both could’ve fit on that door. Kate: I’m calling an Uber.

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio: friendship goals for life.
