Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson: The Best Pieces to Buy From Spring's Best Fashion Collaboration

The excitement of the Moschino x H&M—or, rather, Moschino [tv] H&M, as it’s officially stylized—announcement is still fresh, but don’t let the buzz distract you from other, more timely designer pair-ups that merit your attention. May we direct your attention to Uniqlo, where a fresh patch of Jonathan Anderson designs have just dropped for your springtime enjoyment? Oh, and did we mention everything’s under $60?

This is Anderson’s second collection for Uniqlo’s LifeWear line, the first having been unveiled last summer and released in the fall to much editorial and commercial success. “I’ve done collaborations before, but the difference with Uniqlo is that they make the material,” Anderson told WWD. “If you take, for example, the cotton T-shirt, the fabric is incredible, the cut is incredible, so ultimately it raises the bar quite high.”

What really sets Anderson’s collaborations aside—in addition to his distinct approach to heritage and patterns—is the role they play in his business: Hot off the heels of the Uniqlo news, the designer announced, via Business of Fashion a new strategy for his namesake line focused on affordable collaborations, so that more shoppers could buy into his namesake label without necessarily paying a three- or four-figure price tag. First came Uniqlo, then came Converse. Of the thinking behind this, Anderson told WWD: “I believe, for example, I work for a luxury group, I have a start-up as J.W. Anderson, and I have done a collaboration with Uniqlo. There is something in that combination for me that [says], that is modernity—that the white T-shirt can be worn with the J.W. Anderson knit, or it can have the leather bag from Loewe. Why not?”

So, when you’re shopping Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson, it’s not necessarily a lesser version of what you see on the runway or in street style—it’s part of the fabric of the brand, as much as Loewe’s famous pierce bags or the main line’s gorgeous knits. The shopper can decide how and at what price point they enter the universe crafted by the designer. And if spring 2018’s the time, and Uniqlo’s the place, get ready for a lot of khaki and duck motifs in your future.

Check out some of our favorite pieces from Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson, ahead.

Hunter x Target: Here's What You Should Buy First From This Buzzy Collaboration

Think of the brand Hunter, and rubber rain boots (or “wellies”) come to mind. Its heritage weatherproof footwear has garnered a cult following and a fashionable fan base—hi, Kate Moss—particularly around festival season, when many concert-goers stomp around the mud and terrain in its shoes. As festivals like Coachella start up this year, Hunter is releasing one of its biggest brand expansions to date: an affordable spring collaboration with Target.

Hunter for Target is available at select Target stores and online starting today, a collection that spans clothing, footwear, and accessories. A testament to how much the British label’s offerings have grown in recent seasons, customers can pick up sheer raincoats, metallic bomber jackets, sateen rompers, and sporty mesh dresses, as well as pool slides and, yes, rubber rain boots, as part of this collaboration.

“When I came into Hunter [in 2013], we were 98% or 99% rubber boots—and out of that 98%, it was basically one style, in two color ways,” Hunter Creative Director Alasdhair Willis tells Glamour. “We’ve been quite wide in our aesthetic and the color palette [with this collaboration]… The concept really lends itself to a level of fun.”We bring you the trends. You make them your own.

Willis says that Target was an obvious partner for Hunter’s first-ever collaboration, as both entities share a fun-loving, experience-oriented sensibility: “The thing that really resonates from Target, which is what we’re really all about, is this idea of fun, optimism, and really pushing that sense of the everyday adventure. I think that sort of struck a chord with myself when I first met the Target team.”

From a consumer perspective, Mark Tritton, Target’s Chief Merchandising Officer, thinks that rings true: Even if customers didn’t own Hunter boots already, they definitely know of their value. “Our guest research showed that [Hunter] was number one in terms of the brand recall and attitude towards the brand, so it was just a slam dunk,” he says.

Like many of Target’s past sell-out fashion partnerships, every item in the Hunter For Target collection is under $100. (Wellies reminiscent of those beloved by Kate Moss? Only $40!) The collaboration is “a journey in expression for the brand, and a much wider play than they would get,” Tritton says. “We had no boundaries when we sat down together: We could just express things that the brand has never played with, but make complete sense with its DNA.”

“Ultimately, the spirits of our brands are pretty well-aligned and that is usually quite rare in a collaboration,” Willis adds. “Out of the two collaborators, there’s usually one that has a bit of a power play in some way over the other and I think with this collaboration, that just wasn’t the case. When we come together, it really feels genuine.”

On final tally, the Hunter For Target collection includes nearly three hundred items. (“But it could have been three thousand!” Willis says.) So we went ahead and picked out a few items to get you started—though you’ll want to add them to your cart sooner rather than later: These collaborations have a history of selling out quick.

'The Big Bang Theory' Season 11 Episode 5 Recap: The Problem With Sheldon in 'The Collaboration Contamination'

Good luck getting Sheldon Cooper to solve this problem: At what point in this season of The Big Bang Theory did Sheldon turn into someone almost completely unrecognizable from the man he’s become over the last few years?

On tonight’s episode, Sheldon seemed to fall deeper into self-absorbed territory by becoming territorial over his fiancé’s work hours and work partner. It follows a pattern of unusual behavior this season that seems to have undone some of his profound personal growth over the latter half of the series. So what gives? Where’s the Sheldon who was vulnerable, supportive, and, yes, even romantic?

In “The Collaboration Contamination,” Sheldon and Raj confide in Bernadette that they can’t handle Amy and Howard working together. Raj is just lonely without his “work wife” Howard to keep him company—no point in dissecting that one—but Sheldon acts possessive over Amy, demanding to know why she’s working late after her first day with Howard. This was after he already dropped in on them at work to make sure everything was going alright. Then, in another scene, he complains that they’re working on a Saturday. “Is this how you envisioned your weekend?” he angrily asks Bernadette. Who is this guy?

It’s a question I’ve been thinking about since the season 11 premiere, when he got jealous that he wasn’t being peppered with questions about his success while meeting Amy’s work colleagues. Of that episode, I wrote: “Perhaps the only downside [of the episode] was Sheldon being a complete ass…when Amy was shown more attention by colleagues at a work dinner than him.”

Things didn’t get better in episode two, when Amy had to deal with Sheldon acting like a jealous child after she confided that she got special lab equipment at work. To make matters worse, we also found out Amy often keeps her success a secret from him so he doesn’t get upset. Much to my disappointment, I noted that Sheldon had turned into a mopey, outdated stereotype of a man who can’t handle a woman’s success.

Maybe that’s why I was beyond bored when episode three spent nearly 20 minutes having Sheldon drive himself mad trying to pick a perfect wedding date. I would have rather he spent that time in therapy trying to figure out why he’s become so frustratingly annoying this season. He briefly redeemed himself in episode four while assuring Howard he’d be a good father to his son, but it all seemed to unravel tonight. “This whole thing is maddening,” he vented to Bernadette about Amy’s work schedule. “I just wish I could make Howard feel as angry as I’m feeling.” What? He’s angry that his fiancé is working on a big laboratory project with their friend, a fellow physicist? Haven’t we moved past this old-fashioned trope of being jealous over working with a member of the opposite sex?

Later in the episode, when Leonard tells Sheldon that he needs to get over it (finally, someone with some common sense), Sheldon shuts him down and says, “It is a big deal! Howard is getting Amy used to laughing and listening to music! What if she expects that madness at home?” It’s all meant to be cute and funny, but I wasn’t laughing. Sheldon sounds like he wants to keep Amy trapped in the 1950s rather than embark on a lifetime of happiness. If I’m supposed to be excited that these two are heading toward a wedding, then here’s a news flash: I’m not.

Perhaps the reason I’m most annoyed with Sheldon’s arc this season is that the show has done such a stellar job in recent years of truly growing these characters. It’s no longer a series about four clueless male scientists who ogle the girl next door. The series has embraced real-life issues such as pre-and post-partum depression, gender stereotypes, marital issues, and mental health and done so with humor. To go back now seems like such a waste. And if anything is going to make Sheldon angry, that should be it.

Here's Every Single Item From the H&M x Erdem Collaboration

Every H&M collaboration possesses the same few traits: a buzzy designer, a selection of limited-edition pieces that feel instantly collectible, a crazed launch, and a high probability of seeing the pieces pop up on the resale market at however-many-times the original price. From the looks of it, the fast-fashion retailer’s latest pair-up, with beloved British brand Erdem, will be no different. The collection, which launches November 2, has a total of 83 pieces spanning womenswear, menswear, and accessories, which riff off some of the prints and silhouettes designer Erdem Moralioglu has become known for at his namesake brand, including dreamy florals, elegant lace, high necks, and long sleeves. Prices start at $29.99 for accessories and cap out at $299 for some of the collections most intricate—and probably sought-after—pieces, such as the floral gowns and tailored coats.

Ahead, see every single item in H&M’s soon-to-be-sellout collaboration with Erdem. Start planning your fall shopping appropriately.

Gigi Hadid Just Announced a Makeup Collaboration With Maybelline

With three seasons of collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger on her illustrious CV already, model-designer-It Girl-Lady Gaga pal Gigi Hadid is on to the next project in her apparent quest to take over the world: a collaboration with drugstore cosmetics fave Maybelline. Hadid announced the news in a cryptic Instagram post on Sunday afternoon, and, although there aren’t too many details at this point, you can definitely color us intrigued.

It’s not a huge surprise this is coming: Hadid definitely has the knowledge for it. She’s never been one to shy away from playing around with all sorts of glam, sexy, and plain old fun makeup looks (case in point, her gray lipstick moment in July). She’s also been a fan of Maybelline products for a while now; her insanely sparky manicure for the American Music Awards last year involving 200 Swarovski crystals was created with a base layer of Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Lacquer in Bare Beige, and she’s been known to wear a Kylie Lip Kit dupe in the form of Maybelline’s $6 Color Sensational Lip Liner in Toast.

All this to say, if her history with the company and the photo she granted us are any indications, then the collab is already setting up to be in good shape. Especially because it’s already been in the works for a whole year (sneaky, Gigi).

Is the ’70s vibe a hint of what we’ll be seeing in her collab with the brand? How do we schedule “coming soon” on our iCals?? We need answers! (To that point, we’ve reached out to Maybelline for more details and will update as soon as we have further info.)
