Beyoncé Just Announced a Surprise Behind-the-Scenes Documentary, and It's Dropping Tomorrow

Just when we thought we had our slate of TV shows and movies all lined up for the week, Beyoncé and ABC went and announced a surprise documentary that’s going to drop Monday night. (That’s tomorrow, September 16, just to be clear.) And honestly? You’re probably going to want to clear your schedule for it.

Bey and the network teamed up to gift us with the doc, titled Making the Gift. Although pretty much everything Beyoncé does is a gift, if we’re being honest, this particular documentary specifically follows the making of her companion album—titled The Gift—for this year’s Disney reboot of The Lion King, in which she played Nala.

The network announced the documentary in a tweet Sunday evening—and even went so far as to change its name on Twitter to ABeyC, which is extremely appropriate. Along with a short, 30-second trailer for the documentary, ABeyC revealed at exactly what time the documentary will drop: 10 P.M. ET. (Set an iCal alarm now!)

Per Rolling Stone, the documentary will give viewers an “intimate” look at the genesis of each and every song from the album, which features an incredible array of talent from Childish Gambino (who plays Simba in the reboot) to Pharrell and Kendrick Lamar—plus a ton of incredible African musicians from Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Cameroon. Beyond that, viewers will also be treated to glimpses of the work that went into The Gift‘s music videos and recording sessions.

Check out the trailer for the ABC ABeyC documentary below:

Beyoncé’s gifted us with surprise drops before—hello, Homecoming—and consider us here for another. Now, who’s going to bring the popcorn?

Taylor Swift Just Announced Her New Song and Music Video—and They're So Surprising

Taylor Swift‘s new era is officially here. The pop singer just announced the first single from her upcoming seventh album. It’s called “ME!,” and, interestingly, it features Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco. Swift revealed on Instagram that both the song and music video for “ME!” will drop at midnight on Friday, April 26.

She’ll be answering some questions ahead of the song and video’s reveal on YouTube, which you’ll be able to watch in the video below:

The ramp-up to this song has been monstrous. Swift switched up her Instagram aesthetic in February, leading fans to believe new music was on the way. Of course, from this birthed several theories about her next chapter. Palm trees, butterflies, and mermaids were all common motifs in the images she was posting, and their significance was a mystery. Some thought the bubbly new vibe just meant Swift’s music would be lighter and happier than 2017’s Reputation. Others posited the butterfly theme hinted at some kind of metamorphosis, either visually or sonically.

Swift didn’t do much to bolster or deny the theories until Thursday, April 25, when she showed up at a butterfly mural in Nashville that many speculated was about her music. Centered on this mural was the word “Me!”

“So… @kelseymontagueart [the mural artist] helped me pull off the best surprise clue reveal today in Nashville!!” Swift posted to Instagram about the stunt. “Thank you to everyone who showed up, I’ve never been more proud of your FBI level detective skills.”

“ME!” first gained traction a few months ago when Swift randomly capitalized it in one of her Instagram captions. She also capitalized the words “Begin” and “Another,” in other posts, so it’s safe to say they’ll hold some value later down the line.

Taylor Swift originally hinted at new music at the American Music Awards in October 2018 when she said, “I always look at albums as chapters of my life, so to the fans I’m so happy you liked this one. But I have to be really honest with you about something: I’m even more excited about the next chapter.”

It Sure Looks Like Netflix Just Announced a Beyoncé Special

Netflix sent Beyoncé fans into a frenzy on Sunday (April 7) after the streaming giant tweeted out a promotional graphic for an upcoming project called Homecoming. Though there’s no other information available so far besides the title and a release date of April 17, the Beyhive immediately started to draw connections between the project and the Lemonade singer. Let’s break it down.

First, multiple fans quickly pointed out that the colors and the Greek font used in a teaser poster is similar to the ones used for the merch from Beyoncé’s iconic 2018 Coachella set.

There are also quite a few other clues to suggest fans are on the right track, including the timing of the release date. The alleged new doc premieres right after this year’s first Coachella weekend, which is scheduled April 12 to 14. Secondly, Us Weekly reported earlier this month that the singer is working on a new album and a Netflix special, with sources saying the project “will be tied to her Coachella 2018 performance”. Her two set dates last year were April 14 and 21; a release date of April 17 would fall pretty squarely between the one-year anniversaries of those two performances.

Her show-stopping Coachella set, quickly nicknamed “Beychella,” was widely interpreted as an homage to the HCBU experience, as well as to black fraternities and their traditions. It also featured a Destiny’s Child reunion and performances with her sister Solange Knowles and Bey’s husband Jay Z. Beyoncé also made history as the first black woman to headline the festival.

Meanwhile, HuffPost also pointed out that Beyoncé recently announced the Homecoming Scholars Award Program, which perfectly coincides with the documentary’s name.

At least one fan account is sure it has it nailed, theorizing that the special will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how her performances came together.

And Twitter being Twitter, it’s safe to say the Beyhive is collectively losing its mind over this rumored documentary drop:

Lili Reinhart Just Announced She's Taking a Break From Twitter

Lili Reinhart has had enough of Twitter trolling — and she’s not backing down. On Sunday, December 16, the Riverdale actor posted a series of Instagram Stories airing her frustration with Twitter trolls and the “toxic” environment of Twitter. She also announced that she’s “taking a break” from the social platform for awhile.

“Do people on Twitter ever get tired of being so negative and disrespectful to literally everyone and everything?” she began in her post. “Are they really that miserable?”

“There’s hate everywhere,” she continued. “But especially Twitter. It’s like a cesspool for evil 15-year-olds who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about and have nothing better to do. Taking a break from that toxic site and the people on it who feel the need to attack me, my cast mates, my relationship, and Riverdale.”

“Hate to break it to you online trolls,” Lili ended her story. “Spreading your hate and overall negativity online won’t make you any less miserable.”

This isn’t the first time Lili has spoken up about the intense scrutiny she and her castmates receive online. Back in October, she tweeted about the constant speculation she deals with over her relationship with costar Cole Sprouse, writing in a now-deleted tweet, “Can I tweet something stupid without everyone speculating that my relationship is suffering?? F*ck. Grow up.”

“It’s horrifying how invested some people are in my love life. Emphasis on ‘my.’ It is mine. It is private,” she wrote. “If a stranger’s love life is causing you anger, frustration or anxiety…please reevaluate your priorities,” she once wrote on Tumblr about the speculation about her relationship with Sprouse. “I also want to point out that there is a difference between shipping Betty and other characters, and shipping me with literally everyone I make eye contact with. There are so many other things to focus your attention and energy on.”
