Peter Weber and Madison Prewett's Breakup Wouldn't Be Complete Without Shade From Barb

Yes, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett broke up just days after announcing their relationship during The Bachelor live finale, but did his mom, Barb, have to rub it in?

“Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” He wrote in an Instagram caption on Friday, March 13. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”

Prewett also took to the platform to address the split. “As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things,” she wrote. “I will always love and respect him,” she wrote. “I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did. @pilot_pete you are an amazing guy and I’m thankful for you. I will always be your biggest fan.”

But these two weren’t only ones hitting up the ‘gram today. Peter’s mom, Barbara Weber—who repeatedly expressed disdain for Peter’s final choice on live, national television—also posted a cryptic, shady post on social media. In the video, Barb sings John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” with two of her friends. “Love you guys,” she captioned the post.

After telling host Chris Harrison, in no uncertain terms, that “[Peter] has to fail to succeed,” and that “all his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work,” Barb doubled-down on her views after the cameras stopped rolling. “There’s nothing for me to apologize for,” she told Life & Style on March 12.

Barb may have gotten exactly what she wanted, but Harrison has since described her relationship with Peter as “damaged” in a candid interview with Glamour. It looks like there were no real winners here. Except for, maybe, Hannah Ann.

'I Blamed Every Breakup on My Body’

It has been a lifelong struggle for me to love and accept the reflection I see in the mirror every day. I have come a long way from the self-critical young woman who tried every fad diet and would do almost anything to lose weight, but from time to time I still have to remind myself that I am more than my body. Our worth does not come from our weight, I’ll say that again to affirm it…our worth does not come from our weight! I am thankful that my husband Eric has always been vocal about thinking I am beautiful and sexy at any size, but I needed to believe him. When I finally came to a place in myself where I could accept the fact that his love for me is unconditional, it allowed our connection to become much deeper.— Jessica Simpson, Guest Editor, the Honesty Issue

“You’re gonna get bored with Anastasia because she’s fat,” the mother of someone I went out with told him—to which he responded, “I mean, honestly, you’re right.” He looked me in the eye as he casually recounted their exchange. I was frozen as I listened to him. Hearing him agree with his mother’s fatphobic rhetoric made me nauseous. We’d been dating for a while. Had he felt this way the entire time?

Being fat means constantly internalizing messaging about your desirability and worth—or lack thereof. Dating is tricky enough, but breaking up as a fat woman presents its own challenges. I’ve been through my fair share, but hearing a lover share his family’s negative opinion of my body was particularly shitty. It was the first time I realized that someone could claim to love me and still harbor fatphobia. I’d always wondered whether my weight bothered him. I reassured myself that we were in love, though I always heard his mother’s words in the back of my mind. Did I have some expiration date because I was fat?

This same boyfriend accompanied me to the E.R. once when I was really sick. The doctor had me step onto the scale and called my weight—285—aloud to the nurse. I was shocked by the number, and so was my boyfriend. I could see the horrified reaction on his face as he turned to me and said, “Honestly, I’ve noticed that you’ve gained weight.” I was too tired and weak to respond. But mostly I was humiliated because I believed he was right. I believed I should be ashamed of the number on the scale. Eventually I got a lap-band surgery to help me lose weight, convinced I needed to take drastic measures. It made my life miserable. I was in pain often, and in the end it didn’t help me lose weight. I had paid to have myself literally cut open because I believed I had to lose weight to be loved fully. I believed I had to lose weight to avoid being dumped.

We dated for a long time after the surgery before he unceremoniously dumped me. As unexpected as it was at that moment, a part of me wasn’t surprised. I believed a breakup had been inevitable. If I was thinner, he’d still be in love with me and everything would be okay. But his mom was right, I had officially reached my expiration date.

This is the delusional rhetoric I fed myself for most of my adult life. I should have broken up with that guy the first time he made negative comments about my weight. But I stayed with him because I believed he was just telling me the truth. I subscribed so deeply to self-hate that I stayed with a man who made me feel like shit about myself. In the end I moved on, but the specter of that breakup lingered for a long time. I spent the next several years either single or giving my body to people who didn’t deserve me, constantly aware of the idea that being fat made me unworthy of a partner.

If You’re Going Through a Breakup, You Could Win This Trip Inspired by ‘The Holiday’

Remember The Holiday, the 2006 romantic comedy starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as two women who agree to swap their equally gorgeous homes over Christmas? Of course you do, it’s a classic (if, admittedly, kind of flawed). In it, both women are motivated to travel for the holiday after a big breakup; Winslet’s character, Iris, heads to sunny Los Angeles, while Diaz’s Amanda relocates to a cozy cottage in Surrey, England.

It sounds like the kind of dream situation that could work out only in a rom-com…but what if we told you there’s a chance it could become a reality? A U.K. company called Independent Cottages is hosting a contest for anyone going through a breakup who’d like to channel The Holiday for a few nights.

Entering is easy, but there is one big rule: You can enter the competition only if you’ve “had your heart broken” this year. “Whether you’ve been dumped, ended a relationship that wasn’t working out, or realised you were lusting after someone who didn’t feel the same way, take a leaf out of Cameron Diaz’s book and mend your heart with a cottage stay in the glorious English countryside this winter,” the website reads. If this applies to you, all you have to do is go to independentcottages.co.uk and share your breakup story.

This could be you.

A romance with Jude Law isn’t included, according to Independent Cottages, but the winner will receive a three-night stay at Farthing Cottage in the Cotswolds (which looks remarkably like the one Iris owns in the film), a “bottle of fizz,” and a box of chocolate. Sounds delightful. Bonus: The cottage will be decorated for Christmas and includes a log-burning fire (because of course there needs to be one), a four-poster bed, stone walls, and “heaps of old English character.”

Pack your winter whites.

And Winslet reportedly lives in the Cotswolds IRL, so there’s a chance you can channel The Holiday in more ways than one.

Try your luck and enter the contest before midnight on December 2.

Cole Sprouse Just Gave the Best Response to Those Lili Reinhart Breakup Rumors

Riverdale stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have been dodging breakup rumors for a few weeks now, sending people gentle reminders to stay out of their personal lives. But on Tuesday, August 6, Sprouse addressed those rumors straight-on and, without confirming or denying how true anything is, shared that he doesn’t take the chatter very seriously.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at Variety‘s Power of Young Hollywood event, Sprouse made light of the rumors. When ET asked him if they were annoying, he laughed and said “incredibly,” and then explained that he usually brushes them off.

“I don’t care. That’s the nature of our industry,” he said. “I think you have to poke fun of it a little bit. It’s kind of something you sign up for, but as long as can keep it light and fun, it’s all good.”

The couple previously poked fun at all the interest in their love life on Instagram. Next to a cover image that they appeared on together for W magazine, Reinhart wrote, “BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit.” She confused fans even more a few days later by publishing what she called a “sappy nighttime birthday poem” on social media, dedicated to Sprouse on his 27th birthday.

Then, after Variety posted a video promoting an interview with Sprouse, Reinhart commented, “Sources say he’s single now. Is he available?” She’s since deleted the comment. So what is the truth?!

Sprouse’s wisecracking has been a bit more indirect. “UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult,” he teased in a matching Instagram post with the W magazine cover. Despite all their jokes, though, it’s pretty clear the two of them just want to keep their relationship status to themselves.

Lili Reinhart Just Shut Down Breakup Rumors With Her Birthday Poem for Cole Sprouse

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse reportedly broke up this month after two years of dating—though the two quickly took to social media to troll the “sources” that put the story out there. And on Sunday (August 4), Reinhart posted a lovey-dovey poem she wrote for Sprouse in honor of the actor’s 27th birthday—seemingly single-handedly shutting down all those breakup rumors.

The Riverdale co-stars have a thing for social media public displays of affection, and it seems like they’re going to stick to their habits. On Sunday morning, Reinhart posted a photo of Sprouse wearing a hat and lounging around with a cigarette. She then included a sweet poem she wrote for him, joking that it was a “sappy nighttime birthday poem.” It goes:

“I tried to find a poem
that I could send to you.
Because my words were failing me.
But I searched and found nothing that did you justice.
All of these love poems can’t get it right.
No one else’s words could ever fit.
They haven’t known the fortune it is to love you.”

Judging by this, their joint W magazine cover, and how the two addressed the break-up news on Instagram, it seems like these two are still together (or had the world’s most amicable breakup). Over a photo of their joint W magazine last week, shortly after the rumors broke, Reinhart wrote, “BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit.” Sprouse later joked, “UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult.”

This might be as close as we get to confirmation, but until they explicitly say they’re still together, it’s a bit unclear exactly where they stand. Still, they’ve both stressed that what they really want is for some of the attention to be taken off of their romance. “We’re acknowledging that we’re in a relationship, but it’s a small part of who we are as people,” Reinhart said in the W magazine article. “We want our own separate identities.”

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson Apparently Have Matching Breakup Tattoos

It looks like Ariana Grande has said “Thank U, Next” to another one of the tattoos she got when she and Pete Davidson were coupled up. During the course of their short-lived but loved-up romance, Pete got a number of tattoos for Ariana—including a pair of her Dangerous Woman bunny ears on his neck. But right before their split became official in October, Pete covered his neck tat with a, gasp, black heart.

Here’s the before:

And the after, captured during an SNL skit:

Now, a sneak peek from her much-anticipated rom-com-inspired music video for the chart-topping song reveal that there’s a new tiny black heart on her finger, right where she used to have Pete’s initials.

Check it out—right on the cover of her take on Mean Girls‘ “Burn Book”:

The black heart, by the way, is the same emoji she’s been using in her tweets and to promote “Thank U, Next“.

But this isn’t the first tattoo that’s been covered up. Ariana’s also continued to ink over her other Pete tats: Her “Reborn” one, for example, is now a sprig of lavender.

It’s believed that Ariana still has a “Lumos” tattoo that she got for Pete’s love of Harry Potter, Pete’s late father’s fire department badge number on her foot, and the two’s matching “H2GKMO” tat, which stands for “Honest to God, knock me out.” Covered-up tats or nah, we’re glad the couple seems to be processing and healing from this rollercoaster of a time.
