A Love Is Blind Theory Suggests Damian and Giannina Are Back Together

Damian may not have felt that Giannina was ready for marriage by the end of their run on Love Is Blind, but that doesn’t mean it’s all over for the dramatic couple.

Let’s recap, shall we? Damian said a pretty glaring “I don’t” in front of all Giannina’s family and friends. Then, she ran away from the altar, falling and staining her wedding dress, before returning to hash things out—mud splatter mysteriously missing. Bing, bang, boom: The wedding was off and the couple broke up. But that may not be the end of the story.

All of us believing love is dead during the Love Is Blind finale.

Netflix

Rumors that the pair had reconciled began when they were spotted sitting next to each other and looking pretty happy at the Love Is Blind viewing party back in February. Considering how they left things, it was kind of odd to see them so comfortable together. But, hey, the show actually filmed over a year ago. Maybe they’ve just recovered enough to be friends?

But then, Love Is Blind producer Chris Coelen told Metro that the couple has “attempted to re-engage.”

Still, Giannina has been keeping their status pretty close to the chest. She told Glamour in a recent interview that she and Damian have a “mutual understanding.”

“We’re in a good place. There’s no hard feelings whatsoever,” she added. That’s where things get fishy. When asked about her relationship status, the reality star said she was focusing on herself. “I definitely am focusing on myself and just always bettering a relationship with myself and sharing that with friends, family, whoever,” she said.

Hmmm. If that’s the case, then why, oh why, did Giannina’s mom, Milady, reportedly reply to a fan on Instagram claiming that Giannina and Damian are back together?

Here’s screengrab of the supposedly-deleted response to a fan who asked why Milady still follows Damian on Instagram:

According to BuzzFeed, this is the translation: “It’s not acting, not even a little bit. I follow Damian simply because they reconciled and are still together, they love each other and it was best for [the wedding not going ahead] to happen because that way they could get to know each other better.”

Honestly, this reunion special can’t come soon enough. We need answers.

Love Is Blind Made An Editing Mistake Involving Giannina's Wedding Dress—And Fans Noticed

Love Is Blind on Netflix fans are still reeling from that shocking moment in the dating show’s finale, but that hasn’t stopped them from pointing out a confusing continuity error involving Giannina Gibelli’s wedding dress. Warning: spoilers beyond this point.

Here’s what went down: Damian Powers met Gibelli at the alter to tell her the wedding was off, leaving her completely devastated in front of her friends and family. She ran away in tears, hoping to get away from the cameras, and took a spill in her ice-white wedding gown in the process. However, some surprised viewers were so invested in the “I don’t” moment that they noticed a small, but hard-to-explain, mistake in the editing.

Look closely: the back of Gibelli’s dress was clearly covered in mud after she fell.

However, when she came back into the chapel moments later to talk things out with Powers, her dress was magically spotless and perfectly pressed.

Cue the head-scratching. Did they shoot the confrontation beforehand? Maybe they just had the most powerful stain remover of all time?

Some fans took to social media to get clarification. “Can someone explain why Giannina’s dress was covered in mud after she fell but then it was sparkly clean again when she was talking to Damian?” one fan wondered on Twitter. Someone else chimed in: “I love #LoveIsBlind as much as the next person but the producing/editing of the Damian and Giannina scene was MESSY…veil on then off then on again? Runs off, slips and gets mud on her dress but no stain when confronting Damian?!”

In an exclusive interview with Glamour, Gibelli opened up about what her experience was like on Love Is Blind and said she’s drawn strength from the whole situation a year and a half later. “You’re always hopeful, especially when you’re in your wedding dress, and you’ve made up your mind. It was a lot to take in and a lot of sadness, but a lot of humility and awareness of like, ‘Okay, I’ve got to pick myself up. I need to feel all these feelings, but I need to pick myself up eventually,'” she said.

Netflix announced last week that it’s dropping a Love Is Blind reunion special on March 5, which will hopefully answer all the burning questions fans have left and reveal who is still together after making it to the altar. Maybe they’ll take a moment to solve the big dress stain mystery, too.

Giannina From Love Is Blind Breaks Down Her and Damian's Shocking Finale

Perhaps the couple with the most shocking ending on the Love Is Blind finale was Giannina Gibelli and Damian Powers. No, their relationship wasn’t as smooth or ironclad as, say, Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton’s, but they seemed downright smitten with each other. There were fights, of course—who can forget when Giannina told Damian that even though she was the best sex of his life, he wasn’t hers?—but overall I expected them to say, “I do” come wedding day.

That didn’t happen. In the end, Giannina was all in, but Damian was out. He said, “I don’t” at the altar, causing Giannina to run out of the venue—in her wedding dress—and trip on the ground. The two ultimately talked things out, but there was no happily ever after.

Not that we know of, at least. The Love Is Blind cast reunion airs next Thursday, March 5, on Netflix, and Giannina and Damian will surely give us more details then. In the meantime, we caught up with Giannina and had her break down that shocking finale, explain what went wrong, and offer a little insight into her love life now. Read the candid chat, below:

Glamour: This must be such a crazy time for you.

Giannina Gibelli: It’s been really exciting. It’s definitely been a bit of a shock. I didn’t think that this many people were going to fall in love with the show, but overall the support has been great. I’ve been in a pretty good head space with everything. It’s just a lot to take in all at once, but I’m hopeful. I think this is great. I love that people are accepting it like this.

Can you walk me through what you were feeling in that moment when Damian said he couldn’t marry you?

Giannina: Well, you go into a bit of a shock, right? You don’t really believe what’s happening. I process a lot of things really quickly. So I went from a moment of denial, to acceptance, to sadness, to anger, pretty much just all at once. Embarrassed, because I’m in front of my family and friends. It wasn’t his fault. We had to go to the altar. We didn’t have to get engaged, but we had to have the wedding. And he told me that he didn’t know what he was going to say until he saw me. You’re always hopeful, especially when you’re in your wedding dress, and you’ve made up your mind. It was a lot to take in and a lot of sadness, but a lot of humility and awareness of like, “Okay, I’ve got to pick myself up. I need to feel all these feelings, but I need to pick myself up eventually.”

How long did it take you to heal from the heartache of this experience, and what helped you heal from it?

Giannina: So overall, there was a big trickle effect, right? After the experience, your whole world gets taken upside down, because a lot of the things that you’ve always valued, or things that you’ve probably hidden, or feared for a really long time, come up to the surface. You have no choice but to face them and overcome them in a very honest and challenging way. It took me about nine months after the experience to start feeling like myself again. I did so much. I did career changes. I went on so many trips back home. Definitely took some time for myself to heal and to grow and do some soul-searching, but it wasn’t easy. But I’m really grateful for it, because it definitely happened to me for a reason.

Mark From Love Is Blind on Where He and Jessica Stand Right Now

Warning: Love Is Blind spoilers ahead.

One of the most tumultuous couples on Netflix’s reality show, Love Is Blind, was, hands down, Mark Anthony Cuevas and Jessica Batten. The two seemed to hit it off in the pods—where they first met, talking for hours but never seeing each other—but when they came face to face, things started to unravel. The newly-engaged couple was whisked away on a romantic vacation, then moved in together and met each other’s families. Quickly, their problems arose. Even though she claimed not to have a problem with it in the pods, Jessica was clearly turned off by her and Mark’s 10-year age difference (he was 24, she 34). She also, for whatever reason, constantly had a wandering eye for Matt Barnett (a.k.a Barnett), even though he was also in his twenties and nowhere near as mature as Mark.

It was an interesting relationship: Mark seemed to be all the things Jessica wanted on paper, but she still had second thoughts. Ultimately, the two ended up not getting married. Jessica couldn’t go through with it, leaving Mark visibly heartbroken.

So what is Jess and Mark’s current status? Love Is Blind was filmed in 2018, and the two have kept their distance since then. They’ll come together for Netflix’s reunion special, which premieres on March 5. Below, Mark tells us all about his relationship with Jessica, what went wrong, and where things stand today.

Glamour: Has this just been the craziest time for you?

Mark Anthony Cuevas: For sure, for sure. It’s definitely an adjustment, I would say, because it’s… Don’t get me wrong: I was myself through the whole experience, but now it’s just kind of like everyone’s seen it. So it’s really cool to see the reaction of everyone either running up to me and taking a picture to social media and I’m just kind of like… It’s been a lot. So I’m still adjusting a little bit.

What do you remember first responding to with Jessica when you were talking to her in the pods?

Mark: So what’s kind of funny is that my first two dates were a little awkward and uncomfortable. And it was funny. I was thinking, “If the rest of my dates are going to be like this, this is not going to be pretty good.” And not that they were bad girls. It was just… There was no connection. And then she was my third date, and the second I heard her voice, the second we started talking about Chicago—Where are you from?” “Chicago”—we lit up. And that was the initial connection, but throughout the pods, we connected over so many different things, like family values, religion, and everything. So there was a lot more to that whole story and everything that helped us connect, not just being from Chicago.

Obviously, there was that drama where she had feelings for Barnett and broke things off with you to try things out with him, but then ultimately ended up asking you to forgive her and try it again. What made you decide to give it another shot with her, even though she did do that?

Mark: My mantra has always been…What my mom always taught me is: If you love something, you let it go, and if it comes back, it was for you. If it doesn’t, then it was never for you. And again, with the whole experience, I think it goes deeper than that whole saying, but I kept it. So when she did essentially come back and we talked it out, I told her. I was upfront, and I was like, “Hey, I can go home today and I’ve learned everything I needed to learn, but if you’re with me, you’re with me.” And I think that her coming back to me initially showed me that she wanted to be with me.

The Love Is Blind Finale Has Arrived—and It's a Wild Ride of Emotions

This post contains spoilers for Netflix’s Love Is Blind, so consider yourself warned.

Netflix dropped the finale of their latest reality show, Love Is Blind, on February 27 and, honestly, it’s much-watch programming. In brief, the show is about a bunch of single people who moved into a house and tried to figure out if they could find their spouses without ever seeing the person until after they got engaged. Once that happened, they went on a vacation to get to know each other better, went home, moved in, met each other’s friends and family, and had to decide whether or not to go through with their weddings.

I was actually surprised at how emotionally invested I was in these relationships after such a short time. Some stories are sweet, others trainwrecks. Basically, just like real life.

So, who actually said “I do” in the finale, and what did the internet have to say about it? Because you know people had thoughts. Let’s break it down:

Giannina and Damian: I don’t!

The finale got off to a shocking start when Damian said he was not willing to marry Giannina, citing her up and down emotions during their short relationship. She took off, Runway Bride-style, out of the venue and into the woods, where the poor thing fell in the mud. Honestly, Giannina should be the next Bachelorette—unless Netflix has them locked into non-compete clauses in their contracts. This woman belongs on reality television.

Kelly and Kenny: I don’t!

Jessica on Love Is Blind Let Her Dog Drink Wine From Her Glass—and People Have Thoughts

Love Is Blind, Netflix‘s new reality show, is a gift that keeps on giving.

It all begins with this wild premise: A bunch of single men and women move into a house where they start speed dating each other to see if they’re a match. But here’s the catch: They can’t see what the other person looks like. The cast gets to know each other inside “pods” where they talk for hours and decide if they want to get engaged. Yes, engaged…after mere days of knowing each other. At that point, they finally get to see the person they’ve decided to spend the rest of their lives with before being whisked away on a romantic vacation.

After the trip, they have to return to some version of real life, where they move in together and meet each other’s family and friends. As you can imagine, there are many dramatic moments as these couples dig into the thornier issues involved in a relationship. But there are also many incredible smaller moments. Exhibit A: when Jessica casually lets her dog lap up red wine from her glass and whispers, “She loves wine.”

It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but many of the show’s viewers clocked it—and they had some thoughts. “This is the most dynamic moment of TV I’ve seen in a long time – from Netflix’s Love is Blind,” one fan tweeted. “A guy telling his fiancé, who he met the week before, that he’s mentally stable while she feeds her dog wine and tells him that she’s not his mom. So much to unwrap in 10 seconds.”

“Why would you watch literally anything else when you can watch Love is Blind and see a DOG drink WINE,” another wrote.

Love Is Blind is currently streaming on Netflix and you should all definitely be watching it—if just for the wine-drinking dog alone.
