Jessica on Love Is Blind Let Her Dog Drink Wine From Her Glass—and People Have Thoughts

Love Is Blind, Netflix‘s new reality show, is a gift that keeps on giving.

It all begins with this wild premise: A bunch of single men and women move into a house where they start speed dating each other to see if they’re a match. But here’s the catch: They can’t see what the other person looks like. The cast gets to know each other inside “pods” where they talk for hours and decide if they want to get engaged. Yes, engaged…after mere days of knowing each other. At that point, they finally get to see the person they’ve decided to spend the rest of their lives with before being whisked away on a romantic vacation.

After the trip, they have to return to some version of real life, where they move in together and meet each other’s family and friends. As you can imagine, there are many dramatic moments as these couples dig into the thornier issues involved in a relationship. But there are also many incredible smaller moments. Exhibit A: when Jessica casually lets her dog lap up red wine from her glass and whispers, “She loves wine.”

It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but many of the show’s viewers clocked it—and they had some thoughts. “This is the most dynamic moment of TV I’ve seen in a long time – from Netflix’s Love is Blind,” one fan tweeted. “A guy telling his fiancé, who he met the week before, that he’s mentally stable while she feeds her dog wine and tells him that she’s not his mom. So much to unwrap in 10 seconds.”

“Why would you watch literally anything else when you can watch Love is Blind and see a DOG drink WINE,” another wrote.

Love Is Blind is currently streaming on Netflix and you should all definitely be watching it—if just for the wine-drinking dog alone.

Carrie Bradshaw Would Absolutely Drink Sarah Jessica Parker's New Wine

Sarah Jessica Parker and her Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw, may seem similar, but the actress has said for years they’re really nothing alike. Not even their drink of choice is the same. Carrie, as fans know, was fond of the cosmopolitan but Parker prefers wine—so much so that she just launched her own sauvignon blanc with New Zealand winery Invivo, called “Invivo X, SJP.”

Adding another project to her resume is all in a day’s work for Parker, who most recently starred in and executive produced the HBO series Divorce, has a booming shoe business, and now can call herself a sommelier in the making. Below, we chat with the Emmy winner about her wine, her work, and whether Carrie might ever swap out her signature cocktail for a crisp glass of white.

Glamour: What initially made you want to get into the wine game?

Sarah Jessica Parker: I’d been contacted by Invivo well over a year ago, and I was sort of surprised by the inquiry because I had not ever pondered or fantasized about producing a sauvignon blanc, let alone any wine. And though it seemed far-fetched that I might be able to do it or contribute anything, I spent a lot of time talking to them and learning about their business. After many conversations, I decided I thought it would be a very interesting experience and a privileged opportunity to learn about a business that, beyond being a consumer, I was completely unfamiliar with.

What did you want your sauvignon blanc to taste like as you were making it?

SJP: I think I wanted to pay a nice amount of attention to the conventional idea of what a sauvignon blanc is. People are very serious about their wines, and particularly I think sauvignon blanc drinkers are very specific. So I wanted to apply some of those rules, but I also wanted to distinguish it in some way. And we got there. We got there in ways that I might never have imagined. It was just a wonderful process of blending and splitting that atom and getting it to where we really were excited about it, and that it felt uniquely different in the market, but still could be called, with authority, a sauvignon blanc.

What was the inspiration behind the packaging?

This Woman Spilled Red Wine on Her White Jumpsuit—And Her Friends Came Up With Quite the Solution

While there’s no doubt a head-to-toe white outfit is the epitome of summer, it can also an incredibly hazardous look for the accident-prone among us. Social media helped us figure out how to clean white sneakers—and now, it’s brought us the story of a woman in England who found a clever solution to an all-too-common summer problem: spilling wine on your white dress.

A Twitter user named Mia Williamson shared that she was at the Ripon Races in Leeds, England when someone splashed red wine on her friend Eleanor Walton’s crisp white Pretty Little Thing jumpsuit. Instead of panicking, Walton, Williamson, and the rest of their group came up with a genius hack: pouring more wine all over the outfit. Of course, they documented the whole ordeal and shared it on social media.

“Would you believe someone spilt red wine all down my white outfit so my work girls SOAKED my jumpsuit in the sink so it’s now red,” Walton tweeted.

Williamson added visuals: an image of Walton in her white jumpsuit with the initial stain, and an image of her after deciding to just add more red wine.

The result of their in-the-moment was a pink tie-dye print—which is actually very on-trend for summer. In fact, the finished product was good, Pretty Little Thing, the brand that made Walton’s white jumpsuit, even jokingly replied to the photos on Twitter: “Safe to say that wasn’t a ‘pour’ decision,” it tweeted.

Walton told The Cut that she was “quite drunk” when they decided to dye the entire outfit with more wine. “Part of me wanted to go home and change, but I was having too much fun and didn’t want to let a spill ruin my day,” she said, adding that the entire process took about half an hour and four glasses of wine. She also reveled on Twitter that she sat entirely naked in a bathroom stall while her friends worked on the outfit, and calmed those concerned by the waste of money by clarifying they had an open bar.

Walton also shared a photo of herself drying her new outfit under a hand dryer, and told The Cut “I got used to how it felt quite quickly. I wasn’t really thinking about it ‘cause I was having a good time.”

The look has incited a lot of conversation on social media, with many on Twitter commenting on how clever and cute it is, even going as far to ask for a tutorial.

This just goes to show: When in doubt, add more wine.

Mariah Carey, Superhero, Popped a Bottle of Wine Using Just Her Voice

Mariah Carey is an absolute goddess, and we don’t deserve her. She’s proved this time and time again—whether at a Fourth of July barbecue, crouching near a popcorn maker to find perfect lighting, or during her two New Year’s Eve performances. If you still need convincing, though, look no further than to her video for the #BottleCapChallenge, the internet’s latest viral hashtag in which people post videos of themselves kicking the tops off bottles.

But Carey didn’t kick anything. (She’s a legend, and legends always do things differently.) Instead, she simply belted out her signature whistle tone, and the cap went flying all on its own. Yup! Let me reiterate: goddess. Superhero! Otherworldly! A national treasure!

Okay, so this isn’t technically what happened. Clearly someone fastened a string onto the bottle cap and pulled it the second Carey started singing. Nevertheless, the video is still iconic and by far the most creative #BottleCapChallenge entry. Mariah Carey nailed this one, guys. She won. It’s official.

Watch the magic go down for yourself in the video, below. “Challenge accepted,” Carey wrote.

In a separate tweet she added, “Well, that was fun! my next challenge is trying to get my kids off their iPads.”

Other celebrities have completed the #BottleCapChallenge as well, though their submissions are nowhere near as incredible as Carey’s.

The First Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Wine Country’ Is Here—and It’s Hilarious

When news broke that Amy Poehler would be making her directorial debut with the Netflix comedy Wine Country, I could barely contain my excitement—especially after finding out she hired some of her best SNL girlfriends for the cast. The first trailer for the movie dropped on Thursday, April 11, and it’s everything I could’ve imagined and more.

Wine Country follows Poehler’s character, Abby, as she tries to plan a classy Napa getaway for her friend Rebecca (Rachel Dratch), who’s turning 50. She invites her longtime squad along for the ride, which includes comedy heavy hitters like Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, and Cherry Jones. (Tina Fey also makes an appearance.) It’s essentially just a movie about your favorite SNL women getting tipsy on wine while on vacation, and I’m 100 percent here for it.

Check out the trailer for yourself, below. It’s serving some major Girls’ Trip vibes.

Based on this trailer, it seems these women are going to get into some serious Bridesmaids-esque shenanigans. In just the few short scenes we see, Maya Rudolph gives us a drunk serenade (and falls off the piano), Ana Gasteyer pulls out a bag of drugs, and the rest of the cast all rolls down a hill in unison. According to the film’s tagline, though, “as the alcohol flows, real world uncertainties intrude on the punch lines and gossip, and the women begin questioning their friendships and futures.” As long as all of them are friends again before the hangovers kick in, I’m OK.

Wine Country will debut May 10 on Netflix, so be sure to save a bottle of wine (or three) for the occasion. I seriously can’t wait to watch these women drink chardonnay for two hours.

While you’re waiting for Wine Country, though, check out the best movies currently on Netflix.
