Blake Lively Shares Her Favorite Drugstore Beauty Products, Including a $15 Sunscreen

For someone as glam as Blake Lively, spring cleaning means purging your makeup drawer. The actress did just that recently and used the clean-out as an opportunity to share her favorite beauty products with fans via Instagram Story.

Lively’s collection includes a mix of red-carpet classics (like Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipstick) and prestige pieces (like Diorshow Mascara). But a few drugstore buys were also nestled in her collection. When it comes to her skin, Lively almost certainly has a celebrity dermatologist, a regular facialist, and the occasional team of air-brushers. But for the most important product in anyone’s skin-care routine—sunscreen—she spends only $15 at her local drugstore.

Lively’s go-to sun protection is CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 with Zinc Oxide, a best-selling simple formula that works well for daily use.

For her lips, Lively shared that one of her go-to lipsticks is Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour, one of the most expensive in the world at $90. But before she layers on a few dollars worth of color, she preps with classic Burt’s Bees lip balm.

While there’s nothing more relatable than scattered lip balms rolling around a makeup drawer, Lively also shared a couple of more indulgent skin care picks. She’s a fan of By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Lumi-Serum ($91) and Darphin Environmental Lightweight Shield ($48).

Whether you go prestige or grab whatever’s cheapest at the drugstore, let’s take two lessons from Lively this spring: Wear sunscreen and don’t forget to clean out your makeup drawer.

Twitter Is So Happy Idris Elba Is People's Sexiest Man Alive This Year and Not Blake Shelton

Idris Elba was (rightfully) named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive this year, the magazine announced on Tuesday (November 6). “I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” Elba told People when he first heard he won the title. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”

No one on Twitter was surprised, though. People have been campaigning for Elba to win Sexiest Man Alive for years now. Every time someone who wasn’t Idris Elba snagged the honor, it felt like the Internet let out a collective, “Why not Idris Elba?”

This was most apparent last year when People awarded country singer and Voice judge Blake Shelton with Sexiest Man Alive. People were…perplexed by that choice, to say the least. No shade to Shelton, who seems like a great guy, but Twitter just thought other dudes were more deserving of the tribute—dudes like, ya know, Idris Elba.

Now that he has the title, many feel like justice has been served, and they’re taking to Twitter to celebrate. Check out the reactions for yourself, below. Fair warning: There’s some playful jabbing at Shelton, but it’s all in good fun.

“My name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay?” Elba also told People. “I got picked on a little bit. But as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers.”

Bonkers indeed. Congratulations, Idris. 2018 just got a little better.

Ryan Reynolds Just Joked About Blake Lively Cheating on Him…With a Ghost

Ryan Reynolds has trolled Blake Lively on Twitter many times, but his latest stunt might be his funniest yet. It’s certainly his spookiest.

Here’s what happened: On Thursday (November 1), the New York Post tweeted a link to one of its stories about a woman who says she’s had sex with 20 ghosts and claims she’s now engaged to a spirit. It didn’t take long for the Internet to see the physical resemblances between this woman and Lively, and that’s when Reynolds jumped in with his trolling.

“THIS is how I find out?” Reynolds tweeted, pretending that the women in the story was actually Lively.

See his tweet for yourself, below:

More people hopped on this bandwagon, too. One Twitter user nicknamed this woman “Blake Deadly” while others were in agreement she looks very similar to the A Simple Favor star. “I thought I was the only one who though she looked like Blake Lively Reynolds lol i guess you do too,” a Twitter user commented. “This woman looks like his wife blake lively,” wrote another.

And here are some more reactions:

Reynolds made a similar joke to this over the summer when he cheekily responded to Lively after she called her A Simple Favor co-star Anna Kendrick the “hotter, female(r)” version of him . Lively asked if it would “count as cheating” if she and Kendrick got together, to which he said, “The most ambitious crossover event in history. I’ll miss you both. Tell my story.”

In the September 2017 issue of Glamour, Lively raved about her husband’s social media humor. “I’m so in love with him when he writes that stuff. I mean, I’m in love with him most of the time, but especially with that,” she said.

Instead of Trolling Ryan Reynolds on His Birthday, Blake Lively Did This

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds took a break from their usual Instagram trolling for a good cause: to get out the vote.

In honor of Reynolds’s birthday, on Tuesday (October 23), Lively posted a photo to her feed of her and Reynolds sending in their own ballots ahead of the November 6 midterm elections. “Happy Birthday to 2018’s Sexiest Voter Alive @vancityreynolds #justvoted ??#absenteeballot party!” she captioned the shot, which showed the lovebirds standing in front of a bunch of multicolored balloons. The A Simple Favor star also posted a photo to her Story of the two of them in their “birthday voting limelight,” and asked her followers whether they’d be voting absentee or in person this season.

Reynolds posted a similar shot to his own feed, writing, “What a birthday! I just smoked a huge bowl of early voting.”

Reynolds and Lively aren’t the only A-listers commemorating big milestones by getting out the vote. On Monday night, Amy Schumer directed her followers to journalist Jessica Yellin’s page, where she shared her voting recommendations alongside the news that she’s expecting her first child. And in recent weeks, Taylor Swift has become more politically active than ever on social media, first by sharing her support of Tennessee Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, and then by posting countless photos to her Story celebrating her fans who have opted to vote early. Considering Swift’s first post reportedly may have contributed to a 65,000-person increase in voter registration after just 24 hours, clearly, these types of posts really can make an impact.

Blake Lively Is Developing a New Scripted Fashion Series for Amazon

You know you love this news, XOXO. Blake Lively is currently in the process of developing a scripted television series for Amazon that would revolve around the good, the bad, and the ugly of the modern fashion industry. Remind you of a certain fashionable CW drama, Upper East Siders?

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lively will be closely working alongside with the streaming service for the untitled show. However, one (admittedly very cool) way that it will differ from Lively’s famed Gossip Girl turn is that this series will reportedly also have a strong “merchandising component” alongside it. (Translation: It’s possible that some of the outfits featured on the show can be highlighted and identified for purchase on Amazon’s website.) Amazon is being cagey about what exactly the “culturally relevant” show will entail, but Lively will reportedly only be producing, as opposed to starring.

“I told business affairs I’m going to do this. [Lively] is in Rome, asleep. She’ll wake up to it,” Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke explained when making the surprise announcement at this year’s Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit. “She’s a force of nature: ambitious, smart, and talented.” Salke compared Lively to someone like Nicole Kidman, who has effortlessly transcended her “actor” title to an astute and in-demand producer.

Lively has been blossoming as a producer for over a year now, starting when she signed on to produce the film adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret. (Moriarty wrote Big Little Lies, if you recall.)

As she explained to Glamour last year, getting more woman producers for projects catering to women is one way to help achieve parity in the entertainment industry. “Nobody’s going to fight for you as much as you fight for yourself,” she said. “That said, I know a lot of great men—directors, producers, studio heads—looking to tell stories about women, some because they’re drawn to those stories, some because they’re husbands or fathers and want to see the women in their life represented more accurately, and some just because they look at the numbers. They see, ‘Wonder Woman has replaced religion in America. We should probably invest in female summer movies.'”

Here’s hoping this Amazon project will help achieve that, but for television.

Blake Lively Wears a Skirt One Time, Makes Headlines

After spending the last two months convincing us to add suits to our fall wardrobes, Blake Lively has gone and ditched her new signature look for—wait for it—a skirt.

Lively was photographed leaving the Christian Dior offices in Paris this week wearing a printed A-line skirt designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, an act that would have been fairly uneventful in months past. Blake Lively, a celebrity known for her heightened sense of style, wears a designer’s look…to that designer’s offices? OK!

Now, though, this skirt is considered so newsworthy that it caused a flurry of headlines and tweets in its wake. “Blake Lively Wears a Skirt for the First Time in Months!” the Page Six declared. It’s “a big deal for fans of her fashion,” People magazine noted.

To be fair, this is the first time Lively has been seen publicly wearing something other than a suit in months. It’s a testament to her commitment toward A Simple Favor, her new movie with Anna Kendrick in which her character wears almost exclusively suits. So, throughout the film’s press tour, Lively has shown up on red carpets in all sorts of different takes on the style—velvet suits! neon suits! plaid suits! I guess now that A Simple Favor is officially in theaters, Lively can mix up her look a little more?

But even though her seemingly endless supply of suits is maybe-probably about promoting her movie, Lively was still quick to call out those who criticized her for them. After an Instagram commenter made a joke about “suit number 1,356,” Lively responded, “Would you note a man wearing lots of suits during a promo tour? So why can’t a woman? Just sayinnnn. No double standard ladies.” The commenter apologized, and Lively replied, “Nothing but love. I don’t expect everyone to like it. Fashion that creates a difference of opinions is the fun part. I totally understand the missed humor. I do the same thing sometimes. Just lookin’ to encourage woman to do what men do without being teased for it. Yes, even in a space as material as fashion. It all starts somewhere…and everyone’s voice counts.”

And if you think Lively is totally done with suits now that she’s added a skirt into the mix, hold up: The same day she wore the Dior skirt, she was back to business as usual:
