Taylor Swift Just Made a 'Very Sizable Donation' to Hurricane Harvey Relief

PHOTO: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

The full impact of Hurricane Harvey‘s destruction continues to be made apparent during what some are saying is the worst natural disaster to hit Texas. Trillion of gallons of water has been dumped on Houston and surrounding areas, and the estimated death toll has topped 50 as of Saturday, according to Houston’s Chron.com (this figure includes those who are “feared dead”). Luckily, people are doing what they can to help relief efforts. Lots of stars have opened their wallets to give to those in need and the organizations waiting to help them—and the latest to offer a donation is Taylor Swift.

On Friday, the Houston Food Bank posted that Swift had made “a very sizable donation” to the organization. She did so in honor of her mom, the food bank shared, who’s a University of Houston alumna. “We thank you, Taylor, and we thank everyone for donating to help rebuild our community,” the food bank added.

She’s not the only celebrity to give, either—far from it. After Kevin Hart, who pledged $25,000 of his own money to relief efforts, issued a call to Hollywood to donate, the Kardashians donated $500,000. Beyoncé is joining in to help her hometown with her philanthropic arm, BeyGOOD. Leonardo DiCaprio has pledged $1 million to the United Way Recovery Fund; Sandra Bullock sent another cool million to the American Red Cross. Nicki Minaj has pledged $25,000. J.Lo and Alex Rodriguez did a joint donation of $50,000. Miley Cyrus is giving $500,000. Ellen DeGeneres lived up to her last name with $75,000 in total coming from her and her show. President Donald Trump has also promised to donate $1 million of his own money.

If you want to help aid Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, here’s a list of ways you can help no matter where you are.

Taylor Swift Reportedly Lounged in $10 Million Worth of Diamonds in the 'Look What You Made Me Do' Video

Hey, did you know that Taylor Swift released a new music video? Well, did you know that in said music video, she takes a rather uncomfortable-looking but unquestionably lavish bath in a tub filled with what Page Six is reporting to be $10 million-worth of diamonds?

Early on in the “Look What You Made Me Do” video, Swift is seen lounging back in a tub filled to the brim not with a soothing bubble bath, but rather countless jewels—necklaces, rings, bracelets, you name it! And though at first, many focused on the single dollar bill that’s pictured laying among the diamonds (an inferred reference to the symbolic settlement she received for her recent sexual assault case), Page Six suggests that the rest of the stage props used to set the scene were considerably pricier. The total value of Swift’s not-so-casual soak is actually estimated to be a cool $10 million.

The bling shown in the bathtub was sourced from famed celebrity jeweler Neil Lane‘s vault, according to Page Six—and, unsurprisingly, required a lot of security monitoring. Hey, better safe than sorry—did you see how many Taylors there were in that video? Plus, they proved they were perfectly capable of staging a heist…

Revisit Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” for the upteenth time, below.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Reportedly Could Not Care Less About Taylor Swift's Diss Track

PHOTO: Larry Busacca/Getty Images

Last week, in the clap-back track heard round the world, Taylor Swift (allegedly) exacted year-in-the-making lyrical revenge on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West with her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The song and video are packed with subtle—and not-so-subtle—references to the couple. But in true Kim and Kanye fashion, they reacted by…not caring at all. Remember the time Amy Schumer did a slip-and-fall in front of them on the red carpet, and they completely ignored the entire thing? It’s basically that, but even icier.

According to TMZ, West is more focused on his feud with ex-BFF JAY-Z than his beef with person-he-hadn’t-heard-of-until-2009, T.Swift. Meanwhile, in Kardashian’s mind, “the whole feud ended over a year ago.” Do the math: That’s when she released the recordings that disproved Swift’s claims that she never approved the lyric’s for West’s “Famous” song—and the Internet pretty much took Kim’s side.

Kardashian celebrated the release of “Look What You Made Me Do” by tweeting a completely unrelated photo of her son the morning the song came out. Then, she blocked the snake emoji from her social media feed to avoid being spammed by Swift fans who were attempting to give Kardashian a taste of her own medicine. Still, it’s pretty clear that the Kardashian-Wests want nothing to do with the eight-year-long drama.

While Swift hasn’t officially confirmed that the song is about the rap–reality duo, the Internet is all but convinced. Everything from the album typography, which looks eerily similar to West’s Life of Pablo fonts, to the lyrics of the song that seemingly reference the “tilted stage” West used during his last tour (“I don’t like your little games / I don’t like your tilted stage / The role you made me play of the fool / No, I don’t like you.”) to the video, which makes note of the “receipts” Kardashian used to put the infamous Swift call on blast.

Even so, Kim and Kanye’s names may be underlined in red on a Taylor Swift hit-list filled with pop stars and ex-boyfriends, but it seems like they really couldn’t care less.

Taylor Swift Is Selling the 'I Heart T.S.' Crop Tops From the 'Look What You Made Me Do' Video

Taylor Swift has finally released the music video for her newest single Look What You Made Me Do during the 2017 MTV VMAs and fans promptly lost their minds. But now, you can own a piece of this shady history.

While we’re still watching the video on repeat and dissecting every last scene, Taylor is giving the people what they want: merch from the video. Though T.Swift was conspicuously absent from this year’s VMA awards, she clearly planned an elaborate roll out of the world premiere. And one of the shadiest moments was the I <3 T.S. crop tops background dancers wore in one scene, obviously calling out that time Tom Hiddleston wore a similar tank top at Taylor’s 2016 Fourth of July weekend party. Now, stans can show their love too because Taylor is selling similar crop tops on her website.

While it seemed like Tom’s tank was handmade, the official embroidered tee will set you back $50 and won’t ship until September 12. But that’s not all you can take away from the Look What You Made Me Do video. UPS posted on Twitter that pieces of the floor signed by Taylor (and other great prizes like tickets to some of her first shows) will be given out to random fans who pre-order Reputation through their site between now and the November 10 release date. Other products Taylor is selling on her website include shirts with the Reputation album cover art, a “rep” sweater, and various snake motifs.

Teyana Taylor Channels Janet Jackson’s 1995 MTV VMAs Look at This Year’s Awards

PHOTO: Matt Baron/REX/Shutterstock

Teyana Taylor made jaws hit the floor at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards as the solo star of Kanye West’s “Fade” video—and this year, she’s doing the same by channeling an iconic artist: Janet Jackson.

Taylor showed up to the 2017 VMAs red carpet donning a white cropped scoopneck shirt and wide-leg black pants (which conveniently showed off her incredible six-pack abs, in case you’d forgotten how ripped she was since last year’s show), as well as a super-short bob haircut. But the entire look was much more than just a testament to her #goals-worthy physique; it was also a dead ringer for Janet Jackson circa 22 years ago, who wore almost the exact same ensemble—down to the hairstyle—at the 1995 VMAs.

Taylor’s getup also went beyond being just a style tribute. At the 1995 VMAs, Janet Jackson’s music video for “Scream” was awarded Best Choreography—and we think it’s no coincidence that at the 2017 show, Kanye’s “Fade” video (which Taylor stars in) has already won the same award. Take a look at the twinning moments below.

Practically identical, right?

This isn’t the first time that Taylor has made an intentional statement with her fashion choices, either. In November, while accompanying her husband, Cleveland Cavaliers player Iman Shupert, on a visit to the White House, Taylor donned an Afro, turtleneck, velvet pantsuit, and hoop earrings in an homage to Angela Davis, a Black Panther and civil rights activist. Taylor wore the politically charged outfit on the very same day that then president-elect Donald Trump was to visit the White House, making her ensemble a clear statement of protest.

Taylor Swift's Director Clears Up That Beyoncé Copycat Speculation

As Beyoncé sings on “Formation,” “you know you that b-tch when you cause all this conversation.” Never forget that the Kanye West/Taylor Swift feud actually started over a Beyoncé song. Specifically, “Single Ladies,” which Kanye famously called “one of the greatest videos of all time” (“Imma let you finish…”) while, uh, snagging Taylor’s stage time at the VMAs. Now years (what feels like decades) later the saga continues, this time with Taylor’s director getting in on the action.

First, let’s start at the beginning, which was the 2009 VMA event. After Kanye interrupted her on stage, Taylor released her song “Innocent,” which may have been inspired by the awards show confrontation, and all seemed well for a few years (he even sent her flowers!). But then Kanye referenced Taylor in his song “Famous” and used her likeness in his video, prompting her to clap back while accepting a Grammy. That’s when Kim Kardashian took to Snapchat to explain that Tay had actually given her OK to the lyric… which Taylor then denied on Instagram, claiming that she hadn’t consented to being called “that bitch” in the song. When everyone came at the Reputation songstress after that (so many snake emojis), she kinda disappeared for a year. Until Friday, when Taylor dropped “Look What You Made Me Do” (here’s a more detailed timeline), the first single from her forthcoming album.

In addition to it being widely assumed that the song is inspired by her feud with Kim and Kanye, the brief clip of the song’s accompanying video — which, naturally, will drop at tonight’s VMAs where this whole thing started — that’s been posted online instantly stirred up Beyoncé-adjacent controversy when Twitter users speculated that Taylor’s look was just a little too close to that of Queen Bey in “Formation”. Now “Look What You Made Me Do” director, frequent T. Swift collaborator Joseph Kahn, has taken to Twitter to deny the connection, tweeting that he’s worked with both Tay and Bey and the new video is not in Knowles’ “art space.”

And you know what? Point taken. We haven’t seen the full “Look What You Made Me Do” video yet, and one similar image isn’t necessarily enough to reasonably call someone out for appropriation. But this isn’t the only pre-VMAs clean-up Swift’s camp is doing; they’ve also had to deny that the release date for Reputation — November 10, 2017 — was chosen as another slight to Kanye because it falls on the 10th anniversary of his mother Donda’s death. Big Machine Records told E! News, “It is standard practice that releases come out on Fridays and we locked in this release date based on other Universal Music Group releases.

The most compelling evidence that the video and release date aren’t swipes at Bey and Ye, though? The fact that they’re not obvious digs. Taylor is pretty clear when she’s writing or talking about someone in particular. She had a crush on a boy named Drew so “Teardrops On My Guitar” mentions a boy named Drew. Her song about John Mayer is called “Dear John.” People called Taylor a snake, so now she’s wearing and selling snake-shaped rings. If she wanted to use Beyoncé’s imagery, she’d be like, sipping lemonade, and if she wanted to piss of Kanye with her release date, she’d drop an album on his birthday or something. When Taylor is taunting someone, there’s very little guesswork involved.

Besides which, as much as she’s caught up in her feuds right now, Taylor doesn’t actually need other artists’ help to generate headlines. She’s as big a star as music has, and “Look What You Made Me Do” broke streaming records on both YouTube and Spotify on its first day of release. If the pattern holds, the video will be a monster hit, too. I guess we’ll see tonight…at the mother-frickin’ VMAs.
