'SNL': Aidy Bryant's Sarah Huckabee Sanders Hilariously Channels Demi Lovato

There was a slew of transformations last night on SNL as cast member Aidy Bryant transformed into White House press secretary Sarah Huckabees Sanders, who then transformed into Demi Lovato for a hilarious digital short.

The three-minute, pre-recorded sketch centered around Bryant-as-Sanders’ constant fielding of journalists’ questions regarding the Trump presidency and alleged Russian interference. (Given the ongoing investigation, there are indeed a lot of questions.) When one reporter begins their question with, “Sarah, you’ve continually denied any connection between the Trump campaign and the interference by the Russian government—” the short cuts in and out of an alternate epic reality, in which we learn how “Sanders” comes across so confidently in her answers (even when the answers are still incredibly vague).

In a disco-y take of a press room, “Sanders,” a.k.a. “The Huck,” as her pink jacket reads, parodies Lovato’s pop hit “Confident” as she dances, struts, and sings, “What’s wrong with being confident?” Truth.

She sticks with Lovato’s original lyrics for most of the sequence, but toward the end she switches it up and adds in what she’s really thinking: “So you say that I’m a puppet/that I must be out of my mind/all your media can stuff it.” Sanders-as-Lovato then rips a New York Times newspaper in half.

This is Bryant’s first major skit as Sanders after brief appearances in previous episodes. And although we desperately miss Melissa McCarthy’s impersonations of former press secretary Sean Spicer, Bryant’s spot-on parody of Sanders is beginning to make us think she’s going to be giving Sanders the Spicey treatment more often.

Kim Kardashian West Channels Jackie O in a Photoshoot for Interview Magazine

Only Kim Kardashian West could turn Camelot into Kamelot.

For the cover of the September 2017 issue of Interview magazine, the star posed with her daughter North West in a very Jackie Kennedy Onassis–inspired photoshoot that was captioned with, “America’s First New Lady.” (So does this mean Kanye West’s presidential run could become a reality?)

And never one to not be extra, Kardashian West goes for the full Jackie O in the photos, wearing white elbow-length gloves and a big bouffant hairdo that feel straight out of the Cold War. As the magazine notes, the 36-year-old is purposely channeling the former first lady because she’s “another mother whose every move captivated the American imagination.”

In the accompanying interview, which is a conversation between Kardashian West and writer and activist Janet Mock, the beauty mogul talked about how “conscious” she is of raising mixed-race children with husband Kanye West. “Kanye always has his family around and people who look like my daughter—that’s important to me. She’s obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, ‘You have curly hair like me?’ And we get to talk about it. We also talk about it with my niece Penelope, because she and North look really different, but they’re best friends and they’re together all the time.” She added, “We want to raise our kids to be really aware. I think that’s all you can do. The more you talk about things and keep them out in the open, the more they won’t be taboo. Kids are already so open. They say anything. So if you educate them, they feel like they have this knowledge and then they feel empowered.”

Naturally, the presidential photoshoot has already sparked a variety of reactions on Twitter, with many users sharing their disdain over the magazine’s decision to compare Kim K and Jackie O. “Jackie O turning over in her damn grave right now,” one person tweeted at Kardashian West. However, others have only praise for the pictures’ glamorous look and creative styling. “Nothing but respect for MY First Lady,” a Twitter user wrote, while another mused, “It’s strange for me to say that I wish this were real. Kanye running the country would make me feel a lot safer.”

The issue also features a series of short interviews with North, conducted by fellow famous kids like Kaia Gerber, Millie Bobby Brown, and North’s cousin-slash-bestie Penelope Disick, in which the 4-year-old reveals such hard-hitting truths as her favorite kind of pizza (“Just cheese! Cheese, cheese—everywhere cheese.”), her favorite Disney princess (Jasmine), and what she would do at a baking party with Penelope (“We can make rainbow princess cake!”). She also answers several questions from the writings of Andy Warhol, sharing that she can do her own nails “very well,” her favorite color is rainbow and her purse is full of toys and “sometimes I put some makeup in there when I go to church.”

Teyana Taylor Channels Janet Jackson’s 1995 MTV VMAs Look at This Year’s Awards

PHOTO: Matt Baron/REX/Shutterstock

Teyana Taylor made jaws hit the floor at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards as the solo star of Kanye West’s “Fade” video—and this year, she’s doing the same by channeling an iconic artist: Janet Jackson.

Taylor showed up to the 2017 VMAs red carpet donning a white cropped scoopneck shirt and wide-leg black pants (which conveniently showed off her incredible six-pack abs, in case you’d forgotten how ripped she was since last year’s show), as well as a super-short bob haircut. But the entire look was much more than just a testament to her #goals-worthy physique; it was also a dead ringer for Janet Jackson circa 22 years ago, who wore almost the exact same ensemble—down to the hairstyle—at the 1995 VMAs.

Taylor’s getup also went beyond being just a style tribute. At the 1995 VMAs, Janet Jackson’s music video for “Scream” was awarded Best Choreography—and we think it’s no coincidence that at the 2017 show, Kanye’s “Fade” video (which Taylor stars in) has already won the same award. Take a look at the twinning moments below.

Practically identical, right?

This isn’t the first time that Taylor has made an intentional statement with her fashion choices, either. In November, while accompanying her husband, Cleveland Cavaliers player Iman Shupert, on a visit to the White House, Taylor donned an Afro, turtleneck, velvet pantsuit, and hoop earrings in an homage to Angela Davis, a Black Panther and civil rights activist. Taylor wore the politically charged outfit on the very same day that then president-elect Donald Trump was to visit the White House, making her ensemble a clear statement of protest.
