Taylor Swift Regrets Leaving One Thing Out of Her 'Look What You Made Me Do' Video

Have you watched Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” music video yet? Of course you have, that was a trick question. But if you haven’t, you should probably change that immediately if you fancy yourself as a knowledgeable pop culture consumer.

Anyway, there are a copious amount of “Easter eggs” and shady references scattered throughout the Reputation track’s video, with one particular scene showcasing Taylor and her girl gang robbing the vaults of a streaming company called “Stream Co.”—a not-so-subtle reference to her years-long feud with Spotify, which recently ended with Taylor finally allowing the company to stream her songs once again.

In a new behind-the-scenes vignette chronicling what it was like to film the “Stream Co.” scene in the music video, Taylor revealed how fun it was to act and go crazy in the heat of the moment. “The absolute idiocy of this scene is that we’re, like, robbing a streaming company as if they have a vault of cash and all the girls are shoving money into their really well-coordinated, primary color, awesome Gucci outfits wearing ridiculous kitten masks,” she explained. However, upon hearing herself say the fateful words, “kitten masks,” Taylor realized how much better the scene could’ve been if the masks bore more resemblance to her beloved Scottish Fold cat, Olivia Benson, whose ears slightly flop down the top of her head. (Yes, she was named after the equally-beloved Law and Order: SVU character.)

“Obviously, if it was Olivia though, she’d be all ears,” Taylor explained, folding down the ears to the front of the mask. “Which we really should’ve thought of. We really, really should’ve stapled their ears. Why? God, you get the best ideas after it’s too late!” Celebrities, they really are just like us, minus the multi-million dollar albums deals.

Taylor Swift Releases Behind-the-Scenes Footage of 'Look What You Made Me Do'


Despite Taylor Swift (and her social media) aggressively reminding us that the old Taylor is dead and gone, it seems that she is very much alive and well and still trying to be the human embodiment of a feline.

Case in point: On Wednesday, Swift released behind-the-scenes footage of ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ her first music video from her upcoming album, Reputation. In the clip, Taylor embodies all of her past selves, donning her iconic old looks (curly hair and all) to film the scene in which the “new Taylor” stands atop a mountain of her old personas. She also meets a gaggle of blondes chosen to play her extras—a scene that even Taylor couldn’t fathom.

“OK, this is the trippiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” she says, walking onto set. “Seeing all of them together is the weirdest feeling, but it’s awesome. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s the phase I went through when I was 16 but a girl is wearing it who looks just like me.’ We’re having a great time. We’re all just chatting about life. That’s gotta look weird,” she also quipped.

Yes, not going to lie, watching Fearless-era Taylor—note the 13 on her hand—scream “I hate you, get out of my house” at Red-era Taylor is really a lot for any Swiftie to handle.

But more entertaining than seeing the choreographed fight scenes come to life or the nostalgia-inducing costuming are the moments when the old Taylor spectacularly shines through: She jokes about being graceful! She almost falls off a rig! She names a move after a cat (“kitten strangle fight”)!

It is undoubtedly the most old Taylor fans have seen since she released an ad for AT&T earlier this month. So perhaps she’s really not dead at all. Maybe she’s just a ghost? Let the fan theories commence.

Watch Taylor Swift Transform Into a Zombie for Her 'Look What You Made Me Do' Music Video


Let’s be honest: a fair number of us were already planning on dressing up as the zombie version of Taylor Swift from her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video for Halloween this year. After all, her look is one of the most iconic moments of 2017 so far. But for those of us unskilled in the special effects makeup department, it might prove difficult to recreate. Taylor gave us a little sneak peek into the making of her undead look in a YouTube video—and it honestly seems a little over-the-top, but hey, it’s for a good cause. (We’re surprised she didn’t change the lyrics to “I’m sorry, Taylor can’t come to the phone right now because she’s been in the makeup chair for 12 hours.”)

We’re sure there’s simpler ways to achieve the effect for Halloween, but T.Swift’s video look involved a ton of moss (all over) to get that freshly-arisen-from-the-grave effect, as well as prosthetics for her face, grayish blue contacts for creepy undead eyes, and that dress from “Out of the Woods.”

Now all you need is your own girl squad dressing up as every other version of Taylor, past and present: a quick roll call could definitely include “Teardrops On My Guitar” Taylor, Laying-in-a-Tub-Filled-With-Diamonds Taylor, and Snake Queen Taylor. (So many options.)

There’s no telling if we’ll see more of scary Taylor in her upcoming videos. If her recent AT&T commercial is any barometer, her cat-loving, cookie-dough-eating self is still very much alive and well. And her latest song, “Ready For It,” is definitely less dark than “LWYMMD.” That being said, we’re pretty sure we’ll see some symbolism-filled new looks from the new Taylor, too.

But it seems like we can work with the Taylors we’ve got for Halloween, anyway: T. Swift’s latest album, Reputation, isn’t set to drop until November 10.

This New Fan Theory Will Forever Change How You See 'Look What You Made Me Do'


Believe it or not, it hasn’t even been a week since Taylor Swift released the most-analyzed music video maybe ever for her new song, “Look What You Made Me Do.” From interpreting the hidden Easter eggs to dissecting the title of the song itself, the Internet has been buzzing with hot takes on it. Although it seems like the analysis from Swifties could go on forever, one new and intriguing fan theory might just change how you see the whole song.

One of the most iconic—and, to some, cheesy—lines of the song is when Taylor pauses from her poppy, beat-heavy chorus to record a new voicemail message. You know it by now:

Given the music video literally starts with zombie Taylor rising out of a grave, we took this to mean that the Taylor Swift persona we all knew had died. More specifically, that the real Taylor killed off all those old versions of herself (remember the scene in the music video with the pyramid of former-era Swifts?) and had created a new Taylor in their absence. We thought Taylor had gone dark—and maybe she has in some ways—but this theory suggests that maybe Taylor is just acknowledging yet another joke people made at her expense.

If you remember last summer, after Kim Kardashian Snapchatted the video of Kanye and Taylor talking about that infamous ‘Famous’ line on the phone, the Internet was up in flames, half of it declaring a #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty.

Then photos of this mural in Australia surfaced:

People–justifiably—freaked out. (That’s what happens when memes come outside of the Internet into the real world.)

But now Taylor’s super-sleuthing fans have put it together that perhaps the “‘Cause she’s dead” line is actually an acknowledgement of this joke. Check it out:

This theory totally makes sense, considering Taylor spends nearly a minute at the end of the LWYMMD video addressing and poking fun at nearly every attack that’s been hurled at her. She’s listening, y’all. And T-Swift always has the last word. Even when it’s acknowledging that millions of people declared her—and her career—dead and buried.

Taylor Swift Reportedly Lounged in $10 Million Worth of Diamonds in the 'Look What You Made Me Do' Video


Hey, did you know that Taylor Swift released a new music video? Well, did you know that in said music video, she takes a rather uncomfortable-looking but unquestionably lavish bath in a tub filled with what Page Six is reporting to be $10 million-worth of diamonds?

Early on in the “Look What You Made Me Do” video, Swift is seen lounging back in a tub filled to the brim not with a soothing bubble bath, but rather countless jewels—necklaces, rings, bracelets, you name it! And though at first, many focused on the single dollar bill that’s pictured laying among the diamonds (an inferred reference to the symbolic settlement she received for her recent sexual assault case), Page Six suggests that the rest of the stage props used to set the scene were considerably pricier. The total value of Swift’s not-so-casual soak is actually estimated to be a cool $10 million.

The bling shown in the bathtub was sourced from famed celebrity jeweler Neil Lane‘s vault, according to Page Six—and, unsurprisingly, required a lot of security monitoring. Hey, better safe than sorry—did you see how many Taylors there were in that video? Plus, they proved they were perfectly capable of staging a heist…

Taylor Swift Is Selling the 'I Heart T.S.' Crop Tops From the 'Look What You Made Me Do' Video


Taylor Swift has finally released the music video for her newest single Look What You Made Me Do during the 2017 MTV VMAs and fans promptly lost their minds. But now, you can own a piece of this shady history.

While we’re still watching the video on repeat and dissecting every last scene, Taylor is giving the people what they want: merch from the video. Though T.Swift was conspicuously absent from this year’s VMA awards, she clearly planned an elaborate roll out of the world premiere. And one of the shadiest moments was the I <3 T.S. crop tops background dancers wore in one scene, obviously calling out that time Tom Hiddleston wore a similar tank top at Taylor’s 2016 Fourth of July weekend party. Now, stans can show their love too because Taylor is selling similar crop tops on her website.

While it seemed like Tom’s tank was handmade, the official embroidered tee will set you back $50 and won’t ship until September 12. But that’s not all you can take away from the Look What You Made Me Do video. UPS posted on Twitter that pieces of the floor signed by Taylor (and other great prizes like tickets to some of her first shows) will be given out to random fans who pre-order Reputation through their site between now and the November 10 release date. Other products Taylor is selling on her website include shirts with the Reputation album cover art, a “rep” sweater, and various snake motifs.
