Selena Gomez Got a Brand-New Thigh Tattoo

Selena Gomez had a big night at the 2019 American Music Awards. The “Lose You to Love Me” star performed her two new songs live, stunned on the red carpet, and also made sure to immortalize the night on social media, where she proudly displayed a brand-new tattoo.

On November 24, Gomez posted a collage of Polaroid “getting ready” pics, and the collage featured a glimpse at Gomez’s new body art: a tattoo of praying hands with a rosary, inked on her thigh. Sel’s new ink was covered up by her red carpet dress and performance outfits, so if she hadn’t posted the Polaroids, we’d have no idea that she added another tattoo to her collection.

Gomez now has more than 10 tattoos (that we know of). Though most of them are relatively small and delicate, this new piece is much larger and more impactful. According to her Instagram, it was done by the artists at Bang Bang NYC, a tattoo shop known for its celebrity clientele and detailed art.

Gomez and Julia Michaels recently got matching arrow tattoos as well, but those were courtesy of London’s The Black Lantern tattoo studio. Gomez has also gotten matching tattoos with her BFFs (a number four) and the cast of 13 Reasons Why (a semicolon).

It looks as though tattoos are meaningful to Gomez, used to mark life changes and significant relationships, and since we know her faith is very important to her, the praying hands tattoo seems like something she will cherish for years to come.

Selena Gomez had quite the night at yesterday’s American Music Awards, performing her hit songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” She performed the former song with a black-and-white set before bursting into technicolor for the second. “Lose You to Love Me” became Gomez’s first number-one on Billboard’s Hot 100 a few weeks back.

Victoria's Secret Might Be Getting a Brand-New Look—But Is It Enough?

As Fashion Week unfolded in New York—and Rihanna hosted her Savage x Fenty show in Brooklyn—Victoria’s Secret parent company L Brands held its investor meeting in Columbus, Ohio. The consensus around Rihanna’s entry into the lingerie space has widely agreed that the current biggest name in intimates apparel could never. L Brands had an opportunity to prove otherwise.

According to Fortune, at Tuesday’s meeting, Victoria’s Secret Chief Executive Officer John Mehas, who joined the company from Tory Burch last year, expressed confidence that the path forward to success was evolution and putting women at the center of the brand. “We need to be led by her, for her,” he said.

For Mehas, the future of Victoria’s Secret—a brand that hasn’t cast size-inclusive models and whose parent company’s stock fell 28% since beginning of the year—will look different by way of more wireless bras, a push toward matching bra and underwear sets, a new approach to sale associate training, CNBC reports. “[Customers have] been very vocal about what [they’d] like to see from us in terms of inclusivity, #MeToo, rethinking the fashion show,” Mehas said. “We’re essentially in agreement at this.”

At the meeting, sister brand VS Pink revealed images of its new direction, as well—one aimed to win back it’s Gen Z market. As Wall Street Journal reporter Khadeeja Safdar shared on Twitter, its creative team teased an upcoming campaign that featured a group of models of different sizes wearing brightly-colored clothing. The image suggested a more body-positive approach to product and advertising, but any information about potential size expansion has yet to be confirmed.

Pink’s CEO Amy Hauk (who, like Mehas, assumed the position last year) promised at the meeting that the brand is “committed to learning” and shifting its focus to the “power of femininity,” according to Fortune. But as the main Victoria’s Secret line, a clear vision has not yet been shared. “Amy and the team are a little further ahead than we are,” he said. Hauk was also the only female executive to present on stage at the investor meeting.

These investor meetings come a little over a month since L Brand’s former chief marketing officer Ed Razek left his post. A 36-year Victoria’s Secret vet, he was at the helm throughout the time when the brand’s identity was made iconic, i.e. the era of the VS Angel. Thin, cis-gender models in heavily-padded bras, oozing sex appeal that felt intended for the male gaze. A “fantasy” as Razek would call it, but one that excluded anyone who didn’t fit those parameters—something the former executive confirmed in an interview with Vogue last year.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Shared a Brand-New Photo of Baby Archie for Father's Day

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is only just coming up on six weeks old, but he’s already endeared himself to pretty much everyone—to the point where there were stories only 11 days after his birth about the precocious infant repairing the alleged Sussex-Cambridge rift. And because the royals know that no one can turn down an adorable pic of Baby Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to gift us on Sunday (June 16) with a new photo of him in honor of Father’s Day—a milestone one for them, as it’s Harry’s first.

The photo, which was posted to the @sussexroyal Instagram account, shows little Archie in Prince Harry’s arms. “Happy Father’s Day!” the caption read. “And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex.”

It’s the first close-up shot of Archie’s little face, reports Metro, and suffice it to say: He’s adorable. Check out those little fingers wrapping around Harry’s hand:

In May, Meghan and Harry shared a photo of Archie for Mother’s Day that featured his baby toes against a background of blue forget-me-nots—the favorite flower of his grandmother, Princess Diana.

The Sussexes aren’t the only ones marking the family’s first Father’s Day, either: A group of Prince Harry’s fans have thrown him a virtual baby shower. Like #GlobalBabySussexShower, which raised money for some of the royals’ favorite charities in honor of Archie’s impending birth, this round of fans’ spirited fundraising—dubbed #HappyFathersDayPrinceHarry—will benefit some of the charitable causes Harry supports.

It’s pretty cool that the new parents could celebrate both Mother’s and Father’s Day so soon after their little one’s birth. Happy Father’s Day, Harry!

Breaking Big: Hosted by Carlos Watson, this PBS series features in-depth profiles of leaders in media, politics, music, food, and more as they explain their path to success. They’re all fascinating, but we’re especially excited for the episode with Bad Feminist writer Roxane Gay. “It seemed like an interesting opportunity to share information about my work,” Gay tells us about the show.

More importantly, though, it’s another way to connect with her readers. “Oftentimes people tell me that even though they have different stories, they still feel seen or heard or understood because of my work,” she adds. “That is incredibly gratifying because writing is something that happens individually. You know, you’re alone with your laptop or the page and you write and you write and you write and you hope that you write something useful and interesting and good. But you don’t know. So when readers respond, it’s always gratifying.” See a sneak peek, below. 8:30 P.M. ET on PBS

Comfort Food Tour: Because all I really want to do is watch people travel to different states and eat pasta. 8 P.M. ET on Food

Beyoncé Wore Brand-New Costumes for Her Second Coachella Performance

The first weekend of Coachella was downright historic thanks to Beyoncé’s two-hour long set. The 26 songs she performed, her reunion with Destiny’s Child, and of course the outfits, were all as fierce as Sasha Fierce herself. And her repeat performance for Coachella’s second weekend did not disappoint. The songs in her set stayed mostly the same as her first performance, according to fans on Twitter, but because Bey’s extra-ness knows no bounds, she totally switched up her costume game.

This weekend’s performance wasn’t live-streamed like last weekend’s, but her costumes tell the story. The old-gold-and-black looks, widely interpreted by fans as an homage to the first black fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, were replaced with a bright magenta theme. Never fear, though: Queen B’s new look still had her sorority letters emblazoned on the front. Best part: You can choose between the two colorways at her Beychella Pop-Up Store.

The dancers’ costumes followed suit in all pink this weekend, compared to last weekend’s yellow outfits.

Bey also replaced the sequined camo costumes she and former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams wore for their Destiny’s Child reunion with head-to-toe silver sparkles for their second weekend together.

And she switched up her most regal look, which was inspired by Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. The first weekend’s interpretation stuck with the black-and-gold theme, while the second weekend’s look was pure platinum. Check out the back on her incredible cape:

Beyoncé also added two new looks to her performance: One was an all-black ensemble for her special performance of “Mi Gente” with J Balvin.

And Queen Bey brought husband Jay-Z on stage once again to perform with her. Last weekend, she wore a short-sleeve fishnet-style top with her sorority crest on it; this time she wore a sparkling pink sweater with the sorority crest on the front.

All of the looks were once again created by Balmain. The brand’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, posed a sketch of the design for one of the band members on his Instagram with the caption, “BALMAIN X BEYONCÉ 21.04.2018.”

Jessica Alba managed to get some clips of the show, which she shared on Instagram for those of us who couldn’t be there to witness it in person (bless).

Just when we thought Bey’s Coachella performance couldn’t get any more iconic, she managed to raise the bar once again. All hail Queen B; all hail #Beychella.

Katy Perry's Got a Brand-New Bleach Blond Lob

In May, Katy Perry walked out on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with a brand-new buzzcut to the surprise of fans everywhere. And though the cut looked supremely cool, Perry revealed that the entire thing came together thanks to her overindulgence with bleach. (“I don’t know if you’ve ever dyed your hair too blond,” she told the crowd, “but sometimes your hair falls out. So, that’s the way I handled it.”)

Despite having a much more chill attitude about having to shave off all her hair than most of us, she also told Byrdie that the entire experience challenged her views on beauty ideals. No longer having longer hair meant she needed to redefine what being beautiful meant to her. She added, “Now I can’t hide behind it. I wanted to know that I could still feel beautiful and love myself without it. It’s fun, it’s freeing, it’s liberating, and I don’t think that ‘sexiness’ and ‘femininity’ is just one thing—long hair. I suppose the goal is to redefine what femininity means to me.”

But now, nearly eight months later, Perry is adding just a few inches to her wispy pixie cut—at least for one night. In an Instagram story, the singer revealed a new look thanks to a wildly believable wig that was the same bleach-blond color, only this time hit just above her shoulders.

Beyond the new lob, Perry also shared the other beauty treatment she had done that day—a cupping session—before heading over to a Jay Z concert, a reason as good as any to change your hair for the night.
