Hailey Baldwin Responded to Rumors She and Justin Bieber Are Having "Trust Issues"

It was only a matter of time before this happened: Only months into Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber’s whirlwind marriage, reports are surfacing there’s trouble in paradise. But Baldwin is getting in front of the rumors before they spin out of control.

On Monday morning, March 18, she took to her Instagram Story to issue a helpful reminder: “Don’t believe what ya read on the Internet folks,” she wrote, adding an eyeroll emoji and a holographic “FAKE NEWS” GIF sticker to reiterate her point. Baldwin didn’t explicitly state which piece of “news” sparked her rebuttal, but it’s safe to assume Us Weekly‘s recent report claiming the couple have “trust issues” was on her radar. Apparently, the Biebers are facing no such difficulties.

In their recent joint cover interview for Vogue, though, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were refreshingly open about the issues they do have. “The thing is, marriage is very hard,” Baldwin said to the magazine. “That is the sentence you should lead with. It’s really effing hard.”

Bieber said he and Baldwin are still figuring out how to disagree in constructive ways. “We don’t want to lose each other,” he told Vogue. “We don’t want to say the wrong thing, and so we’ve been struggling with not expressing our emotions, which has been driving me absolutely crazy because I just need to express myself, and it’s been really difficult to get her to say what she feels.”

Baldwin also admitted to feeling lonely in her first weeks as a newlywed. Unfortunately, both she and Bieber have been inundated with messages from random people who don’t agree with their marriage. “I prayed to feel peace about the decision, and that’s where I landed,” she told Vogue. “I love him very much. I have loved him for a long time.”

Ariana Grande Just Responded to Pete Davidson’s Instagram About Fans Bullying Him

Pete Davidson just gave a rare public statement about his breakup with Ariana Grande. The Saturday Night Live comedian took to Instagram on Monday, December 3, and revealed he’s been bullied by fans, both online and in person, for roughly nine months. (He and Grande announced their split in mid-October.)

“I’ve kept my mouth shut,” his statement reads. “Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. Especially in today’s climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind boggling.”

After mentioning the bullying, Davidson continues, “I’ve spoken about BPD and being suicidal publicly only in hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don’t want to be on this Earth. I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the Internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t. I’m upset I even have to say this. To all those holding me down and seeing this for what it is, I see you and I love you.”

Grande replied to Davidson’s statement via a direct message, presumably with a fan. “I have never encouraged anything but forgiveness,” she wrote. “I care deeply about Pete and his health and would never encourage any kind of mistreatment. I haven’t seen any of it because I’m blocked, but I want you to know that I would never want or encourage that ever and you should know that. I care about him deeply.”

These are the first incredibly forthcoming messages Davidson and Grande have released about their breakup. Prior to this, Davidson made a few jokes in standup routines and on Saturday Night Live. Grande, meanwhile, stayed relatively mum until the release of her song “Thank U, Next,” which includes lyrics about Davidson.

Reese Witherspoon Responded to Ariana Grande's 'Legally Blonde' Post in the Most Elle Woods Way

Ariana Grande has always been a massive Legally Blonde fan, so it makes sense that her “Thank U, Next” music video will draw from the iconic rom-com (among others). After the singer posted a bunch of Legally Blonde–inspired teasers on social media, Reese Witherspoon—yes, Elle Woods herself—swooped in to give Grande her (probably well-perfumed) stamp of approval.

Grande had posted a photo of herself standing with a familiar orange iBook—identical to the one Elle Woods uses in a Harvard Law lecture—and captioned it, “Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.” Witherspoon retweeted the photo on Wednesday and added her own epic Elle Woods one-liner: “Also… 2 weeks ago I saw Cameron Diaz at Fred Segal and I talked her out of buying a truly heinous angora sweater!”

See for yourself:

This all comes just after Grande had shared an image of Elle Woods’ adorable pet sidekick Bruiser Woods hanging out on a bright pink pool float and uploaded another photo that suggests Jennifer Coolidge might make a cameo in the video. Now she’s got Witherspoon in her corner too. Allow us to bend and snap with delight!

Grande has been giving fans clues about what the “Thank U, Next” video will entail, and detective work lead most people to conclude that the visuals for the break-up anthem will involve Mean Girls and 13 Going on 30 in addition to Legally Blonde. Grande had been captioning her photos with Mean Girls quotes all week, and her followers caught on quickly when she posted an image of herself with short, Jenna Rink–esque hair.

Grande confirmed the guesses in a recent Instagram story, writing, “Ok, you guessed the third! but there’s still one more so no tea. Tomorrow.” We’ll have to wait and see what the final movie is.

Meanwhile, it’s hardly a surprise that Witherspoon is embracing Grande’s ode to Legally Blonde. She’s always treated stans with love: Earlier this year, she excitedly accepted a woman’s 15,000-word dissertation based on the movie. We’re pretty sure she’s going to be just as supportive when Grande takes on the challenge of giving us her own version of Elle Woods. What, like it’s hard?

Jenna Dewan Responded to People Who Say She Looks Just Like Jessie J

When news broke a few weeks ago that Channing Tatum was dating pop singer Jessie J, the comparisons to his ex-wife Jenna Dewan were almost immediate. “Since he seems to have a type…does he know that I, too, have dark hair?” one person remarked on Twitter. “Channing Tatum is dating singer Jessie J, but what makes it kind of weird is that she’s Jenna Dewan’s doppelgänger,” wrote someone else. Even Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor weighed in on the situation. “Looks like Jenna dwans sister to me,” he wrote.

Here’s the thing, though: Any person who started dating Tatum would’ve been compared to Dewan—regardless of what they look like. It’s just in our culture to compare new celebrity partners to their former spouses—especially if they’re women. What can come from that, unfortunately, is a catty girl-fight narrative completely fabricated by social media.

But Dewan is putting a stop to that before it even starts. She took to Instagram this week and responded to these Jessie J comparisons in the best way possible.

It all started when one user commented, “FIRST OF ALL….whenever I hear of the ‘striking resemblance’ w/ Jessie J to Jenna Dewan ..my only thoughts are ummmmm no. Just trying to spread positive vibes, keep doing you…to an absolute outsider from a small town you are doing it seemlessly [sic].”

To this, Dewan had a simple but important response: “Positive vibes all the way.”

Take a look at the exchange for yourself, below.

The Internet would do well to adopt Dewan’s thinking. It’s 2018—we should be past comparing two women just because they have brown hair and dated the same person. As Dewan said herself, positive vibes only.

Dakota Johnson Just Personally Responded to All Those Pregnancy Rumors

Earlier this week, rumors began swirling that Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin were having a baby together. The evidence came from a party thrown at Martin’s house over the weekend, which included baby blue and pink balloons as decorations. One lucky paparazzo captured some of the balloons flying away, leading many to believe the couple was having some kind of sex reveal party.

But this isn’t the case. Reps for the actress said the shindig was just for her 29th birthday. And now Johnson herself is commenting on the rumors: “Well, the only thing I’m pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas. But not any babies,” she said when asked about it on Ellen on Thursday. “It was my birthday and there were balloons that happened to be pink and blue, and so then I was pregnant. I didn’t know that the balloons were gonna be released. They were just in an arch, but I guess that accidentally happened, one of the ends just got let go. A lot of people congratulated me. A lot of attention! More than just having it be my birthday.”

There was a silly downside to Johnson’s birthday-becoming-headline news, though: She now has to deal with facing the wrath of everyone she didn’t invite. “Now I had to be like, It was just my birthday,” she said, “and all of the people I didn’t invite to my birthday know I had a birthday party.”

“I’m not going to talk about it, but I am very happy,” Johnson told Tatler a few weeks ago when magazine when asked about her relationship with Martin.

Madonna Just Responded to the Backlash Over Her Aretha Franklin Speech at the VMAs

Madonna caught a lot of heat last night (August 20) at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards after she gave a speech to honor Aretha Frankin—who passed away last week—that was all about herself. The tribute started off strong—”Aretha Louise Franklin changed the course of my life,” she said—but soon descended into a stream-of-consciousness monologue about the early stages of Madonna’s career. The tie she made to Franklin was loose: Madonna explained that during one of her early auditions, she asked to sing “Respect” on the fly because she had nothing else prepared. In fact, if Franklin’s face wasn’t projected onto the screen behind Madonna, this wouldn’t have felt like a tribute at all.

Which is why Franklin’s fans are so upset. Hundreds of people took to Twitter to criticize Madonna’s speech, accusing her of erasure, cultural appropriation, and self-indulgence. Madonna didn’t respond to the backlash last night, but she just took to Instagram this afternoon (August 21) to address it.

“Just to clarify: I was asked to present Video of the Year by MTV,” Madonna captioned a photo of herself and Camila Cabello, who ultimately took home that award. “And then they asked me to share any anecdotes I had in my career connected to Aretha Franklin! I shared a part of my journey and thanked Aretha for inspiring me along the way. I did not intend to do a tribute to her! That would be impossible in 2 minutes with all the noise and tinsel of an award show. I could never do her justice in this context or environment. Unfortunately most people have short attention spans, and are so quick to judge. I love Aretha!”

Check out Madonna’s Instagram post for yourself, below:

That being said, Franklin fans on Twitter still aren’t letting Madonna off the hook. The responses criticizing her speech are still coming in—and they’re pointed:

MTV hasn’t responded to the backlash yet, but stay tuned.
